In Glyder you play as Eryn, exploring a vast open world on an adventure to complete challenges, unlock hidden items and inevitably find your way home. That’s about as much to the story as there is, but the game itself is fun, relaxing and has some great graphics, with both tilt and touch controls for you to choose between.

Introduction:

The interesting part of Glyder really comes from exploring the large areas and finding out what you’re supposed to do yourself. This can be a long process though and so this roadmap is an explanation of how to get what you need in the quickest way possible. There are 13 different types of wings to choose between, each with their own particular strengths and sometimes abilities. However, you only start with the most basic set and so must first find better wings to beat the game with less of a challenge.

Walkthrough:

1) You start the game with only Arctasia unlocked so select that as your location. Touch controls are far easier that tilt so immediately check which ones you are using by pressing the settings icon on the right of the screen and change if necessary. Take some time getting used to the controls if you haven’t already, and then head off the gold platform to the right and up through the thermals. Grab the chest at the top of the spire and land on the green platform. If you struggle with this keep flying down into the thermals to gain enough speed for the altitude climb. Press customize and change to your new superior Quetzal wings before heading off. Follow the checkpoints for the challenge using the thermals, collecting all crystals and collectables on the way (this applies from now on), until the next ring tells you to lose altitude. From here check your map by pressing the icon on the left of the screen and head towards Spiral Heights, the huge area in the middle.

2) At Spiral Heights use the thermals to fly as high as you can and from there head to one of the other areas (use your map if necessary or the select a location screen as a guide). Once you reach an area simply travel back to Spiral Heights and do the same thing again until you have unlocked Oasis, Perpetua and Magma Core.

3) Travel to Oasis and complete the ‘Gathering the Flock’ challenge to get the Fiery Key (use the achievement guide for more information). Then travel to Magma Core and from the gold platform head through the gates and collect the Phoenix Wings. Find the Energy Wings atop the highest floating rock in Magma Core by using the thermals.

4) Now you must collect all available crystals. Get to a platform by landing, crashing or selecting a location and equip the Energy Wings, which pull crystals in to make your job easier. Use the map of the area before setting off from a platform for help. Note that you cannot collect the single gold crystal in Arctasia until you have all of the pink ones. Once you have all blue crystals Sporelle will unlock and so you can travel there to obtain its crystals. Obtaining all of the pink crystals unlocks the fan which gives you access to Ascension.

5) Time to use the Phoenix Wings. Head to any platform and equip them, then follow the achievement guide to complete all of the goals. By doing so you will finish what story there is and obtain the Osiris jetpack, the best set of wings in the game.

6) Finally, equip the Osiris jetpack and complete all remaining challenges and extras with ease.

Conclusion:

Congratulations on finishing Glyder! Although the game can seem complicated, by simply playing it and completing all of the challenges, goals and extras you will have unlocked all of the achievements for another 200:gsicon:.

Thanks to TrishTheDish for listing all of the goals, challenges and extras.

You've reached terminal velocity!

You can see your speed on the bottom left of the screen and must get the needle to spin around as far as it will go (so that it’s pointing downwards) to reach terminal velocity. You should get this pretty early on, simply grab a boost and fly downwards or use thermals to gain a lot of altitude and then head directly for sea level. For some of the extras you need to travel at terminal velocity so if you don’t get it straight away then it’ll unlock when you complete those.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1678/5-9d1nU=.jpgCrystal Collector - 10:gsicon:

You've collected all the crystals!

There are 125 blue, pink and gold crystals making a total of 375 to collect. They are all relatively easy, but collecting them can be made even simpler by equipping the Energy Wings which pull crystals towards you. If you’re struggling to find the last few crystals in an area you can land on a platform and check your area map to see where they are in relation to your position. Some may seem difficult to find, but usually it’s a matter of flying into a cave or tunnel to get to them.

Note that collecting all blue crystals unlocks Sporelle where there are more pink and gold, and collecting all pink crystals both unlocks the fan to Ascension where you can get the remaining gold crystals and releases the previously unattainable one in Arctasia.

Breakdown of crystal locations:

Arctasia - 45 blue, 5 pink, 1 gold.

Spiral Heights – 20 blue, 20 pink, 20 gold.

Oasis – 50 blue, 25 pink, 14 gold.

Sporelle – 30 pink, 20 gold.

MagmaCore – 10 blue, 45 pink, 40 gold

Ascension – 30 gold.

You're an honorary Squeebil!

To earn this achievement you must complete all of the Squeebil challenges and extras. The challenges are The Wheel Goes Round and Gathering the Flock, for both of which you must beat the goal time. The extras are Hail to the King, Mini Temple and Buzz the Squeebils. For more information about these, see “World Traveler” and “Master Explorer”.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1678/5-k+zKo=.jpgGoal Getter - 15:gsicon:

You've completed all the goals!

There are a total of 24 goals in the game. Completing all of these will not only earn you the achievement but also unlock the Osiris jetpack, the best wings in the game which allow you to gain altitude without the use of thermals. For any goals which require challenges to be completed, see “World Traveler”.

General

1) All Blue - Collect all of the blue crystals to unlock Sporelle.

2) All Pink - Collect all of the pink crystals to activate the Ascension Fan.

3) All Gold - Collect all of the gold crystals as part of the gate activation process.

See “Crystal Collector” for information.

Arctasia

1) Sun Flare – Complete the Lakebed challenge to drain the lake and reveal the Sun Flare. You do not need to beat the goal time.

2) Varblat’s Coupler – Inside the Snow Cave described below.

3) Snow Cave – Equip the phoenix wings and from the gold platform fly left past all of the windmills. Next to the end of the village, before you hit the side of the mountain, there is an iced over cave. Just fly towards it and it will melt giving you access.

4) Power the Gate – Place all six Dimensional Relics (Varblat’s Coupler, Oslanium Sequencer, Spark Housing, Ethereal Harmonic, Tome of Mechanics and Quantum Shifter) in their cradles next to the Dimensional Portal by flying close to them. From the gold platform this is to the left, past the windmills and next to the Squeebil village.

5) Open the Gate – After completing Power the Gate, fly near the switch next to where you placed the Dimensional Relics to open the gate.

6) Enter the Portal – Once the gate is opened, descend into the hole next to the previous two goals to complete this final goal.

Spiral Heights

1) Sun Flare – Complete the The Wheel Goes Round challenge to reveal the Sun Flare. You do not need to beat the goal time.

2) Oslanium Sequencer – After completing the Converge goal in Ascension, this will be revealed at the highest point of Spiral Heights.

Oasis

1) Sun Flare – Fly through the gap near the top of the temple.

2) Raising the Dead – Collect all four Sun Flare Crystals and mount them on the smaller temple. Do this by flying close to each pillar around the temple in the bay. This will raise the temple and complete the goal.

3) Spectral Lens – After completing Raising the Dead, fly through the newly revealed tunnel in the smaller temple to find the Spectral Lens.

4) Spark Housing - Head through the tunnel on the front of the temple where the water is coming from, then turn around and fly through the back passage, carefully manoeuvring through the sliding doors. It is behind the Squeebil statue.

5) Collect Fiery Key – Complete the Gathering the Flock challenge to reveal the Fiery Key. You do not need to beat the goal time.

Sporelle

1) Sun Flare – Complete the Room to Grow challenge to reveal the Sun Flare. You do not need to beat the goal time.

2) Spectral Lens – From the gold platform fly directly downwards. It’s on a rock at the bottom of the pit.

3) Ethereal Harmonic – Head to the bottom of the pits and from the Squeebil village fly through the tunnel without the boost next to it. It is through a fairly narrow gap (Dark Tunnel extra) to the left of here.

MagmaCore

1) Spectral Lens - From the green platform head forwards and down and you’ll see it.

2) Tome of Mechanics - Past the Fiery Gates (described below), on the right hand side of the cave.

3) Fiery Gates – From the gold platform, head straight down and to the right. To unlock them use the Fiery Key found in Oasis.

Ascension

1) Converge – Collect all three Spectral Lenses and mount them on the poles in Ascension. From the starting gold platform, you will find these by flying to the right. All three poles are on the same asteroid and so are hard to miss.

2) Quantum Shifter – On top of the dome in the middle of the central structure.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1678/+8ox8A==.jpgHigh Altitude - 5:gsicon:

You've reached 1 km in altitude!

You can see your altitude on the bottom right of the screen and you must reach an altitude of 1km. This will come quickly by flying off the gold platform in Arctasia and straight to the right. Simply keep following the thermals up and it will unlock. This will also come naturally through game progression.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1678/+irJYw==.jpgLong Flight - 5:gsicon:

You've flown continuously for 4 minutes!

For this achievement you must fly for 4 minutes solid without pausing the game, landing on a platform or crashing. Once you get the hang of the controls and are either collecting crystals or completing challenges you will manage this without trying. Some of the extras also require you to fly continuously for longer than 4 minutes so this should also come naturally with game progression.

You've completed all the extras!

There are a total of 42 extras in the game. The easiest way to complete them is to simply play through everything else and then use the Osiris jetpack to finish off any that are remaining.

General

1) Surface Skimmer – Keep the altitude warning for 60 seconds. Using any wings, gain a high speed and then fly close to the water and just travel along until it is completed. Having a high speed means that if you’re about to hit the water you can lift a little and carry on.

2) Pocketfull – Collect 50 crystals.

3) High Altitude – Hit 1km in altitude.

4) Sky High – Hit 3 km in altitude.

5) Entering Orbit – Hit 5km in altitude. You will complete all altitude extras when travelling to Ascension.

6) Handfull – Collect 25 crystals.

7) Crazy Fast – Reach terminal velocity.

8) Hold On! – Hold terminal velocity for 30 seconds.

9) A Little Longer! – Hold terminal velocity for 60 seconds. For the terminal velocity goals head from Ascension directly down until you hit top speed. Then change the angle of your drop so that you are in a large downward spiral. You should get this before hitting anything, but if not try again starting from higher up in Ascension.

10) Barrelfull – Collect 100 crystals. Simply collect the relevant number of crystals for these extras. You will achieve the crystal extras whilst completing all goals.

11) Long Flight – Fly continuously without landing or crashing for 4 minutes.

12) Trans Atlantic - Fly continuously without landing or crashing for 8 minutes.

13) Take a Break! - Fly continuously without landing or crashing for 12 minutes. As stated, fly around without landing on any platform or crashing for 12 minutes in total for these extras. You will probably get them when trying to collect all of the crystals, but if not head to Ascension and fly slowly downwards so that you will avoid crashing.

14) Booster – Collect a boost crystal. First opportunity for this is to head right from the starting platform in Arctasia and fly near the one there.

Arctasia

1) Arctasia Landing – Land on the gold platform in Arctasia. Simply fly away from the platform, circle around and then land back on it.

2) Low Blow – You must fly through the lower tunnel at a high speed. Simply gain lots of altitude and then fly down so that you reach a high speed, then go through the tunnel next to the lake with a large ice crystal above it.

3) Spear point – Reach the highest spire in Arctasia where the green platform is.

4) Spring Time – Start the Super Climber challenge by landing on the green platform and follow the checkpoints until you hit the thermal and can see the only green tree in Arctasia. Fly next to it for this extra.

5) Uplifting – After collecting all of the pink crystals the fan jet to Ascension will activate. Travel up it to unlock this extra.

6) Spit Out – Travel through the snow cave below the gold platform (next to the lake) and fly out of the other end.

Spiral Heights

1) Spiral Heights Landing – Land on the gold platform in Spiral Heights. Simply fly away from the platform, circle around and then land back on it.

2) Top Tunnel - Fly through the top entrance to the inner cavern next to the waterfall, through a large gold ring.

3) In the Roots - Fly through the middle/lower part of Spiral Heights where all of the twisted roots are. There are quite a few crystals around this area.

4) Lower Tunnel: Either navigate through the inner cavern to reach the lower tunnel or fly into the entrance next to the waterfall, roughly 2/3 of the way down.

5) Buzz the Squeebils – Gain as much altitude as possible in Spiral Heights, then collect a boost crystal. Fly past the Squeebil village at the top of the area at a high speed for this extra.

Oasis

1) Oasis Landing – Land on the gold platform in Oasis. Simply fly away from the platform, circle around and then land back on it.

2) Side Door - Fly through the tunnel on the front of the temple where the water is coming from, then fly downwards and right through the next tunnel and back out of the temple.

3) Hail to the King – Fly through the tunnel on the front of the temple where the water is coming from, then turn around and fly through the back passage, carefully manoeuvring through the sliding doors. Simply fly past the Squeebil statue

4) Mini Temple – Fly as high as possible in Oasis, then gain terminal velocity by heading straight towards the ground. Once you reach top speed, fly over towards the mini temple next to the purple structure (there is a Squeebil rescued in Gathering the Flock there which you must scare for this extra).

5) Open Sesame: From the Squeebil in the Hail to the King extra, grab the boost and fly up the passage and out of the cave.

6) All-Seeing Eye – Fly close to the large lens at the top of the great temple. Use the thermals to get the altitude if necessary.

Sporelle

1) Sporelle Landing – Land on the gold platform in Sporelle. Simply fly away from the platform, circle around and then land back on it.

2) Dark Tunnel – Head to the bottom of the pits and from the Squeebil village fly through the tunnel without the boost next to it. It is a fairly narrow gap to the left of here.

MagmaCore

1) Magma Core Landing – Land on the gold platform in MagmaCore. Simply fly away from the platform, circle around and then land back on it.

Ascension

1) Ascension Landing – Land on the gold platform in Ascension. Simply fly away from the platform, circle around and then land back on it.

Perpetua

1) Ridiculous Speed – Hit 500#.

2) Ludicrous Speed – Hit 750#.

3) Sonic Boom – Hit 1225#. You can see your speed on the top right of the screen, although you might not be able to check when going at a speed this high. You will get this while trying to get 25 checkpoints.

4) Getting Started – Hit 5 checkpoints.

5) Locked On – Hit 15 checkpoints.

6) Stay on Target – Hit 25 checkpoints. Use the Energy Wings found on the floating rock at the top of MagmaCore for this as they have the best stats for turning.

7) Rime of the Mariner – Hit 10 checkpoints using the Albatross wings, found inside the inner cavern of Spiral Heights.

To raise the dead you must find all four Sun Flare Crystals and mount them on the smaller temple in Oasis. The Sun Flares are found at the following locations:

1) Arctasia – Complete the Lakebed challenge to drain the lake and reveal the Sun Flare. You do not need to beat the goal time.

2) Spiral Heights – Complete the The Wheel Goes Round challenge to reveal the Sun Flare. You do not need to beat the goal time.

3) Oasis – Fly through the gap near the top of the temple.

4) Sporelle – Complete the Room to Grow challenge to reveal the Sun Flare. You do not need to beat the goal time.

You've completed all challenges!

There are a total of 29 challenges in the game. They can be difficult but by using the Osiris jetpack obtained by completing all goals they are much easier. It is difficult to guide you through the challenges which require flying through checkpoints and beating a goal time and so it is recommended to wait until you have the Osiris jetpack and simply try out the challenge. If you don’t manage on the first attempt you will know where the tricky checkpoints are and should manage on the second.

If you’re struggling to find the start location of a challenge, land on a platform and open up the map by pressing the crystals icon on the right of the screen. This way you can give yourself a rough idea of which direction you must fly in, and if you need to gain altitude first.

Arctasia

1) Windmill Run – Use the red platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:05:0.

2) Super Climber – Use the green platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 3:30:0.

3) Ice Caves – Use the blue platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:05:0.

4) Lakebed - Use the purple platform to start the challenge. You must collect six ice boulders and drop them into the stream. Two boulders are directly ahead of where you start and the other four are on platforms next to the lake. Goal time is 4:00:0.

5) Arctic Escapade – Use the rotating platform to start the challenge. You must collect snowflakes around Arctasia, although you need only collect one to complete the challenge. Collecting 25 unlocks the Convict Uniform.

Spiral Heights

1) Through the Roots - Use the red platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:10:0.

2) Top to Bottom - Use the green platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 2:05:0.

3) Into the Heart - Use the blue platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:45:0.

4) The Wheel Goes Round – Use the purple platform to start the challenge. You can reach this by entering the inner cavern through the entrance found close to the top of Spiral Heights and to the right of the waterfall. Head immediately up to grab the cog and then fly right and down through the exit of the cavern. From here fly right past the waterfall and into the thermals. Follow them to the top and fly over to the water wheel to drop the cog off. Alternatively, use the Osiris jetpack to simply fly back out the cavern the way you entered and up to the water wheel. Goal time is 1:20:0.

5) Feathered Fiasco - Use the rotating platform to start the challenge. You must collect feathers around Spiral Heights, although you need only collect one to complete the challenge. Collecting 30 unlocks the Blue Jay wings.

Oasis

1) Around the Valley - Use the red platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 2:30:0.

2) Ridgeline - Use the green platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:20:0.

3) Into the Void - Use the blue platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 2:00:0.

4) Gathering the Flock – Use the purple platform to start the challenge. You must get the 3 lost Squeebils to their village in the middle of Oasis. There is one just below you which you’ll see as soon as you start, one in the middle of the rotating tower as you head back from the village towards the starting position, and one in the corner above a mini temple which you can find by flying past the middle of the previous two. Goal time is 2:00:0.

5) Tricky Trebuchet – Use the rotating platform to start the challenge. You must collect flares around Oasis, although you need only collect one to complete the challenge. Collecting 25 unlocks the Zombie Disguise.

Sporelle

1) Sporelle - Use the red platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:20:0.

2) Tunnels - Use the green platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:10:0.

3) Full Circuit - Use the blue platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:35:0.

4) Room to Grow – Use the purple platform to start the challenge. You must carry 3 spores to the dead mushroom stalk next to the challenge platform. They are all in the pit next to the gold platform in Sporelle making a pretty simple challenge. Goal time is 2:20:0.

5) Bubbles Blowing – Use the rotating platform to start the challenge. You must collect bubbles around Sporelle, although you need only collect one to complete the challenge. Collecting 20 unlocks the Camo Suit.

3) Lens Posts - Use the blue platform to start the challenge and fly through the checkpoints. Goal time is 1:20:0.

4) Celestial Stardust - Use the rotating platform to start the challenge. You must collect stardust around Ascension, although you need only collect one to complete the challenge. Collecting 20 unlocks the Digital Avatar.

Perpetua

1) Perpetua – Fly through the first checkpoint to start the challenge. You must fly through as many checkpoints as possible, although you need only fly through one to complete the challenge.

  • 2 months later...

thank you so much for the guide. especially the walkthough. that made this game simple. you dont realize how annoying the base game is until you get the Osiris jet pack and everything is actually enjoyable and fun (aka not challenging at all).

This is one of the few guides that I literally have nothing to suggest to make it better. Game took me 5:00:46 seconds to beat. Could have been a little less if you are good at flying games.

Maybe my one suggestion is to not use 5+ hours. The is kind of ambiguous a little. I would personally change it to something like 4-7 hours (depending on skill). I hate all flight games and avoid them like the plague, but this game provided me with little challenge really and I was able to complete in 5 hours exactly. The difficulty you have of 3/10 is spot on. Cheers mate. Thanks again.

Cheers for the feedback on it, appreciate it :).

I wasn't sure of an exact time frame for the game as my first playthrough I did discovering things as I played, and my second took longer as I had to write everything down as I did it, so glad to know I hit it right with 5 hours. Since the guide's up on the main page I'll leave it as it is, but at least if anyone checks this thread out they can see what you've said.

Cheers again though :).
