Petey247
Are there any issues using the new pad with the original DDR Universe or vice versa? The reason I ask is because I currently have two pads, and I'll be buying the bundle. I want to try and make I can figure out any incompatibilities up front. mjda
I'm also wondering about this because I do plan on picking up both of these games. If I buy the DDR2 bundle, will the bundled pad also with if I just buy the DDR1 game?
Petey247
Well, I know the old pads work with the new game. I just haven't tested it the other way around. I bought the bundle, but already had two mats. So I gave the new mat to my brother. I'll ask him about it and try and let you know.

mlodoss
Is there a better Pad I can buy to replace the cheap P.O.S. pad that came with the Universe 2 bundle?? The thin mats suck (for fat people like me anyway) because they don't register........ Is there a better, more thicker mat out there I can buy? Petey247
Unfortunately, the only third party mats that I'm aware of are those from Mad Catz. I hear they aren't very good. You get used to the mat.

It has 3/4" of foam, and the arrows are raised from the a,b,y,x buttons by a little so you can feel where your feet are without looking down. They also have a regular one called Beat Pad, which is basically the same pad you have now, and is not padded. They are not cheap, they list for about 100 US, I happened to get one at GameStop, and it works great, I saw one at Circuit City and I'll probably pick up a second so I can finally learn to do 8 panels. supertvo
Thanks for the tips. The Beat Pad Pro is so so so much better than cheap Beat Pad. But I couldn't find it anywhere. Gamestop doesn't carry it anymore; thus, I had to buy from a Amazon vendor who shipped it pretty fast, but I had to pay more than retail ($128) for it. Why don't they (Madcatz or RedOctane) make this kind of pad anymore?
