Hello, this is the first time I'm writing a full guide here, but I've written a couple of achievement solutions posts. When I read a guide, I expect it to be thorough, make no assumptions about my skills or knowledge and be well formatted. With that in mind, I tried my best to write this. Hope it's useful!

Introduction:

Sally's Salon Luxury edition is a fun and easy time management game. The goal is to manage customers and make them as happy as you can before you "cash" them. Click >>here<< for a review on WP Central for more details. It takes a while to complete the game since there are 75 levels you have to get a perfect grade on, each taking 10 to 15 minutes to finish.

You probably won't have any trouble getting 200, but it's possible to get in a sticky situation when it's very difficult to get a perfect grade on a level. Read on to know how to avoid this.

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

Step 1. Knowing how it works and how to avoid a new playthrough.

Alright, let's grasp the game mechanics first, shall we?

Hearts
- They show how satisfied you customer is with you. If they have 5 hearts when you "cash" them, that's a perfect rating for that customer, if they drop to zero hearts at any given moment, they just get up and leave. You have to avoid that if you want a perfect score!

Upgrades
- Before every level you will have a chance to upgrade your salon. I recommend you go for coffee first (buy and upgrade), then candles where available, then new seats and assistants, and then upgrade everything. Since the game is easy, that's hardly a recipe you should follow strictly.

Coffee and magazines
- Coffee gives an extra heart to a customer and it's a life saver, use it very often. Magazines slow down the speed in which customers get dissatisfied (lose hearts). Not critical, but very useful on 9th and 10th salons.

Candles
- There are two types of candles, I call them Heart and Patience. Heart candles (red) will give every customer in the salon an extra heart. Patience candles (blue) will have the same effect as a magazine for a short time.

Types of customers
- Now this is important. Some customers have less patience than others. I'm gonna list them in order of priority. I made up the names (except Elvis lookalike which I read someone saying, and it's perfect), but I don't think you'll have problem knowing which is which once you play the game.

  • Elvis lookalike - this is the most annoying one, and will lose hearts very quickly. He's your top priority

  • Executive lady - this is a high priority lady, she's not very patient, but is more than Elvis.

  • Brat girl - Kinda impatient young lady.

  • Brat guy - Not much of a problem maker, but not exactly patient.

  • Mister Dad - A regular man, looks life a father with his mustache.

  • Elderly lady - Very cool old lady, not much of a problem maker

Salon state (Open/Closed)
- This was not clear to me at first, but you'll notice that on the top right corner of the screen there is a clock that eventually turns into a padlock. It shows you when the salon is open to receive new customers and when it's not. As soon as the padlock is there no customer will step inside anymore, and you'll just have to deal with the ones already in to finish the level. If the clock is still there new customers will just keep coming, as long as you have avaliable seats. So, the trick to get a high score (and the serve 20 customers in one level achievement) is to keep making available seats on the waiting area as fast as you possibly can. It's not hard at all to get the score needed to expert level, so don't sweat much over it.

Score/Grading system
- There are three grades you can get, based on your score and customer satisfaction:

  1. Daily goal reached - just earn whatever money the game indicates during the level (top of screen, right to Sally's picture).

  2. Expert - reach the amount indicated in the same area after you've reached your daily goal

  3. Perfect - reach the amount needed for Expert AND have all customers fully satisfied when you "cash" them out.

Avoid new playthrough
- First of all, let me just say that WHEN STARTING you don't have to worry about this AT ALL on the first salon and second salon (caps for emphasis). You don't have many seats, so whatever the score you get, you'll be able to get a much higher one later. Start worrying about this when you salon if fully or near fully upgraded.

The whole problem centers around the concept that you can only get a better grade if you beat your previous score, meaning if the goal for Expert is 3,000 and you get 4,500 without full hearts (customers not completely satisfied), to be able to get a Perfect Rating now you need to top that 4,500 you got previously, not the original 3,000.

This can be a problem later in the game, because it's easier to get high score with Expert than it is to get with Perfect, and if you work real fast but let slip a non-completely satisfied customer, you'll have a very high score to beat with presumably more work to do (because now you need to make every customer satisfied while reaching more money). If you find yourself in a situation that you simply can't get a Perfect rating, you will have to erase your game and start over.

TLDR; So, to avoid this, I would suggest that once you have a good salon, and by that I mean all waiting area seats and the majority of the other seats bought, only finish a level with perfect rating. If by accident you "cash" a customer without full hearts, restart the level. It's not hard and will save you time in the long run.

Credits to meatycheesyboy for figuring this out

Step 2. Play the game!

Now you already know everything you need to know. Just play the game and have a good time.

Conclusion:

Not much else to add, since this is a simple game, but if you need more clarification, let me know.

Miscellaneous achievements

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/2033/-5sKqQ==.jpgNice Work10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Serve 10 customers in one level.

This will come quite naturally, and you don't need to serve them with full hearts or anything, you just have to serve any 10 customers on any level. Try to clear the waiting area (brown seats) by moving customers to hair wash (blue seats) or hair cut seats (yellow) as fast as possible, this will allow more customers to come inside if the clock is still showing on the top right corner (if it's a padlock then the salon is closed and customers will not come in anymore). Keep upgrading you salon and buying more seats, the more you have, the easier it gets to serve more customers.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/2033/UPn6xhQ=.jpgGood Work15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Serve 15 customers in one level.

I'd hazard that when you have a fully upgraded salon, you will serve at least 17 customers every level so this will also come quite naturally, and you don't need to serve them with full hearts or anything, you just have to serve any 15 customers on any level. Keep upgrading you salon and buying more seats, the more you have, the easier it gets to serve more customers.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/2033/UPgaPoc=.jpgGreat Work20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Serve 20 customers in one level.

This (and because game takes a while to finish) is why the game was rated AD 2/10 and not just 1. This is not hard by any measure, but will require you to play reasonably fast. The number of customers per level is not fixed, it's actually limited by your ability to make room for more customers before the store closes. Please refer to the roadmap for tips about the game but, in a nutshell, upgrade your salon, play as fast as you can, and always focus on clearing space on the waiting area. If you finished the game already and want a level to try, I'd suggest the very last one. But to me it came naturally on the 5th salon, while I was just trying to get high scores.

Score/Grade achievements

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/2033/UPvbz6E=.jpgSalon Expert20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Complete all levels expertly.

To get this one you'll have to get an Expert score on every one of the 75 levels. I highly recommend going for perfect first to avoid having a very high score with expert rating, thus making it very difficult to beat and get perfect at the same time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/2033/UP+Z3Ms=.jpgSalon Master30 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.png

Complete all levels perfectly.

To get this, you'll have to get a Perfect score on every one of the 75 levels. To get a Perfect, you need two things:

1. Earn a certain amount of money on the level.

2. Serve all customers with full hearts. They've got to have 5 hearts above their heads when you receive their payments.

Important: Please refer to the roadmap to avoid being in a situation where you can't get a Perfect score, and on general tips about how to play the game well.

Just an example of a good way to do an achievement. Achievements you will get along the way automatically while going for a different one, should usually be listed to just see the main one. This will clean up your guide and make it much less exhausting to read through. They see that and know automatically they can skip ahead to that description and get all of the info in one.

If this helps, the main story took a little over 5 hours for me to complete. I had to do a couple over, so it can be done in 5 hours. I was able to get perfect scores on almost every level. I'm just now getting to the extra stages which look much shorter.

I see your point, but I personally resent this style because many times I see guides that give insight only on the main achievement, and don't give much or any info at all about the lesser achievements, e.g., where and when you should expect to get it.

I dislike this specially on the guide page, where I tend to read them one at a time sequentially, or when the info is all grouped on the first achievement of the batch, which is hidden if you use the check-boxes like I do.

I assume I'm on the minority here, so I'll edit to make it more appealing to the majority.

Thanks!

SS didn't have a guide so I was going to make one as I bought it when it was on DotW. I know there's nothing stopping me from making another one and sometimes it's useful to have two, but I don't want to steal someone else's thunder for beating me to it (same happened with Breeze).

I'll give Spider Jack a try, but I can't imagine myself buying it as it just seems to be a variation of Cut the Rope, and personally I hate all of those types of games (Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Doodle Jump etc.). I love achievements but not enough to play games I don't enjoy. To me it's more about the completion than the numbers (but numbers are still nice!).

You can do it how you want, no problem in that. Just if you are going for the achievement and will automatically get them in a row, there's no real point in describing each and every one of them the same way but with a lower set goal. Get 5, get 10, get 25, get 50. You will obviously get everything else while going for 50 :) No need to have full explanations. What you can do, is tell people when to expect to get them. Like saying you should get the X amount of kills by X level.

This is pretty much how I've gone about the guides I've attempted to create because not only is it a standard but it makes sense. It also keeps consistency across the site which helps make it better in terms of quality.

Thanks for the guide. Loved this game. Easy 200. It does get a little repetitive though. I have not really found much difference between the individual stages of each salon. The characters that come in seem to be random for the most part. Did they really need 10 stages that are nearly identical per salon? And once you fully upgrade in the fourth stage, the fifth stage is exactly the same as the fourth.

Not sure if this has been patched since the guide was written, but I can get a Perfect score even if my score is lesser than my previously-set Expert score. Or at least, that's what it shows in-game.

Same here. I just got the achievement and some of the levels I had to redo, I didn't beat my money score, but it gave me a "Perfect" rating and the achievement popped no problem after the last level. :woop:
