Thanks, I found it. Walked right past it before time after time lol

Anyway, get this. I've been doing the quests for Reynard, and I now got the last journal entry. I go back to the city and...........................................................HE'S GONE. He's been there the entire time I've been doing this quest for his items, and buying stuff from him, and how when I get the last entry, he has vanished. I'm getting really tired of these bugs.

No its not a bug. Hes usually found in 4 or 5 different places. Pretty rare if he just stays in one spot

Then I guess I must have a rare version of my game, because the entire time that I have since started the quest 'Search Party' has stayed in one spot the entire time, by the fountain in gran soren, until now when I actually have all of the pieces. I'll check the other places listed and see if that works.

I was actually finally able to track him down in Gran Soren last night and did the first 2 phases of the quest. Then I slept at the inn to see if maybe he would acknowledge I had done enough business with him to access the final part with the journal entries. (which I already have all of btw.) He vanished again. I'm not too worried though.

I'm positive this time it's because I haven't done any where near enough main story quests to do this part. Since he is important to the Trial and Tribulations main quest. And because he completely disappears from the game by design after receiving the journal entries. So it seems that you need to wait until you complete this main quest before handing them in. At least the quest guide recommends that.

I'm just going to advance with the other side quests and then the main quest. Hopefully when I get to this point it will all work out.

Yea if you want Fournival do be innocent, wait to complete Search Party after that quest. You have plenty of time between then and the final main story quest to finish up Reynards quest

With the gold idol I know how to get it and everything. In fact here is a video if someone needs help with the quest.

My question is that the guy in the video recommends forging it at the Black Cat to hand in for a couple different quests. But from what I understood the forgeries made there lost all of their abilities and were only useful for a couple quests with very specific items. Otherwise you would get very bad side effects from trying to fool the NPCs. Is this true? I was hoping you would know the whole story on this item and how to use it since you are the go to source for info on this game.

On the subject of forgeries, could you list the ones that you're supposed to duplicate and what quests to use them in? I'm sure everyone would find this info very beneficial.

Thanks for any information you can provide. I appreciate all the work you've put into helping everyone. :)

I don't think forgeries are helpful apart from giving them to the pawns so people will be tricked in thinking they are the real items ;)

From the little test i ran for the gold idol giving caxton the forgery will not get you the extra stock only the real idol will.

The only thing I've seen even worth making forgery out of yet is the wyrmkings ring you lose the paladins mantle he would give you later on but it isn't a very big loss.

Theres honestly nothing worth forging. What forging is good for is quest items so you can share them with people. And even then, I dont know if thatll even work because sometimes when I give certain items to people, it goes through as a rock. So really forgery is just useless. Its good if you want to do all the quests over in following playthroughs, as you can just forge most of the quest items and hand them in right away without having to actually do the mission.

Guess you didn't read my whole post.

Yes I did.

Go back and read mine.

The game is programmed to make you wait. Certain criteria have to be met before he shows up again.

I was in the same boat as you...

To make matters worse... I heard the town crier... and it was a different guy!?!?!?!?

I left and did some other quests, came back to the city and found him at his regular post and talked him into leaving but covered his moving expenses so I remained a "thoughtful arisen".

The wyrmking's ring is worth making a forgery of and handing in the fake and giving the real one to your magic user because it lowers casting time for whoever has it in their inventory.

Okay is there any consequences for handing in the forged ring besides losing the paladin's mantle? I read in another topic that you should make copies of some papers you have to turn in for a quest?

If that's the case about the gold idol then who is the best to give it too? How about the silver, bronze, and cursed idols?

In the video it recommends handing in the forged gold idol for the quests like Idol Worship and Supplier's Demand. Is that not the case?

It's not covered in the video but also remember reading that you needed a certain quest from Caxton to be active while doing the Escort Duty quest in order to get the idol instead of a golden egg. What's the name of that quest?

Sorry for the redundant questions. I really want to play the game right now. Unfortunately a storm is raging outside my house. And the last thing I want is to risk playing and a random power outage to corrupt my 1 and only save game with over 50 hours invested in it. :p

handing in a forged golden idol will complete the quest, but you will NOT get the same weapons as you would have if you handed in the real idol. Forged idols have a value less than bronze. So you wont even be getting the weapons you would have if you handed in the bronze statue. It will be worse

No you dont have to have any other quest from Caxton to get the golden idol

Madeliene has more magical weapons and armor, and more daggers and bows if you hand in the gold idol. Caxton has a huge variety if of armor, more so heavy armor and swords.

If you would've read my post, then you should've seen that I said that I was SLEEPING at the inn, meaning that when you do, it advances the time in the game. So if it's morning and I sleep till morning, then that's one day for gametime. I did it 7 or 8 times, meaning that the game would've definately advanced more than 1 to 2 days. I don't mind that the game has that in it, but after sleeping at the inn 7 to 8 times, he should've definitely shown up by then, because time advanced in the game by a lot. Gaming bugs aren't universal, and maybe it didn't happen to you, but that doesn't mean they can't happen, and guess what, since he never showed up after sleeping at the inn as many times as I did, I'm pretty sure it was a bug. Is it a big deal? No, because I give fournier the money, and it completed. Don't see what it's such a big deal.

Anyway, back to topic. Since Reynard is a factor is this trail quest that everyone is talking about, so I run around and try to find him now and complete 'Search Party' or should I wait until later? This is the last side quest according to the guide list on here before meeting the duke, and I would like to get as many as I can out of the way before I advance the 'story.'

BTW BloodGodAlucard, thanks for the link to that quest, and I didn't do anything different. However, I saw what I did not do. You have to talk to that girl and then she gives you the golden idol. That is not written on here or in the players guide, so I had no idea you had to do that. It's not like she had an indicator over her head or anything lol

Thanks Flip. So since I'm a Sorcerer and my main pawn is a Warrior I should probably give Caxton the gold idol and Madeline the silver while also getting her affinity to the max. Is that right? What does the cursed idol actually do? I can't imagine it's anything good since it's cursed.

Also a question about affinity. I heard that whoever you have the max affinity with will be considered your romance/sacrifice at the end of the game. If so how does it work with multiple people maxed out? Because I ended up getting Valmiro's to max by doing the Dying from Curiosity quest. I even got the achievement from it.

The thing is, I REALLY don't want to be in a romance with a guy. Even though as far as I've seen that doesn't even seem to be a real part of the game. Romance I mean. At least I haven't heard about any sort of "Bioware-esque" courtship activities. Just wanted to be sure. I remember reading another guys post that Caxton was the one he raised affinity with and had an awkward embrace from him at the end.

No problem I'm happy to help. And I think I will probably wait until I do the Trial quest to complete the one with Reynard personally. I've heard that he sells items that will swing the trial one way or another basically letting you choose the outcome. That sounds good to me and I don't think you have that option otherwise.

I really dont know how it works. I think it might be the first person you reach max affinity with. My buddy got max affinity with pretty much everyone in the game and at the end, the Inn keeper from gran soren met him at the end of the game, so now in his post game, he has no where to sleep in gran soren because the in keeper is at his house now. kind of funny.

Yeah that is kind of funny. If that's the case then looks like I'll be "embracing" Valmiro at the end of the game. Damn. :p I had hoped to get either Madeleine or the Duke's wife. I think it's his wife. The blond woman from some of the previews that makes fun of the weird hat the Arisen was wearing. Even Selene seemed pretty cool. I guess I'll try my luck and hope for the best.

I'll just do that then. Now I'll go work on the last few board quests I can, and hopefully I can do them easily (not including bugle one lol)

Yeah I'm trying to finish up one right now called A Lost Cause. And it lives up to the name. You have to find a snakeskin purse. It's a really rare drop that you get from farming Sulfur Saurians. I've tried this quest for a couple hours with no luck. This quest really has that JRPG feeling to it. With the whole grinding and hoping not to get screwed by the RNG. (Random Number Generator that sets up the odds of in game item drops.)
