Introduction

The Game of Life is the classic board game that simulates a person's travels through his or her life, from college to retirement, with jobs, marriage, and possible children along the way. The player that accumulates the most wealth along the way is the winner. The game includes single player and pass-and-play multiplayer for up to 4 players. For a more in-depth review of the game from WPCentral, click HERE.Currently the game is listed at $2.99 in the Windows Phone Store.

Step 1: Miscellaneous achievements

You should try to earn the 9 miscellaneous achievements in the game first. With some planning, you can get most of them out of the way in a couple of games. They are all best done when playing multiplayer (except "Dont Blame Me", which must be done in a solo game against the CPU) and are made easier by using the "Home Button" trick detailed below. You should have little trouble earning any of these, but they do require a tiny amount of luck.

Step 2: Grind to ten victories

This is the most tedious part of the game. You need to get a total of 10 victories. Luckily if you play pass-and-play multiplayer, every single game will count as a victory, even if the first player does not win.

Conclusion

Each Game of Life progresses very slow which makes this game a chore to play, most notably watching the spinner EVERY time to see how many spaces you have get to move. Fortunately, you only have to play 10 times and the miscellaneous achievements are not that difficult to obtain with a little planning.

GUIDE

THE "HOME BUTTON" TRICK: If you spin the wheel and land on a space that is bad or you do not want, hit the Home Button (Windows Button) immediately. Then relaunch the game again (from a tile or the Games Hub). Once in the game, there will be an option to continue the game. Do so and it will be at a point before your last turn. You can spin the wheel again to get a different number and avoid the tile you landed on previously.

MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS (9 for 145 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 9 achievements are related to completing miscellaneous requirements and can be obtained in single player or pass-and-play multiplayer (except "Dont Blame Me" which must be done in a solo game).

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-nmL+A==.jpg Variety is the Spice of Life - 5 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Change careers at least once in a single game.

This achievement is earned when you change careers for the first time. To make certain you earn this, when you get the chance to go to night school near the middle of the game, do so. After moving through the night school spaces, you will get the option to change careers or take a pay raise. Change careers and choose new one to earn this achievement.

There are also "bad" spaces you can land on where you will lose your job and be forced to choose another one. This will also unlock this achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-5lzaw==.jpg Family Values - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Win the game while having the most children.

You need to finish the game with the most wealth and have the most children. The player who wins MUST also have 4 or more children in their car (thanks to Evil Monkey for finding this out). This is somewhat of a glitch, but can easily be used following the method below. This will most likely come without even trying when going for the 10 wins as you will only have two players and the winner will have a 50% chance of having the most kids.

If you are having trouble, start a two player game and play about half way through. Use the "Home Button" trick mentioned in the beginning of the guide to make sure the player that wins also has the most children. If the player with less money lands on a baby tile or if the player with more money lands on a bad tile that will cost money, redo the turn.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-5lzaw==.jpg Gold Plated - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Win a game with over $2,000,000 of wealth.

You need to finish a game with you player's grand wealth total coming to more than $2,000,000. This can be tricky to get. Fortunately, you can use the "Home Button" trick to redo any turn where your player loses money.

Play a multiplayer game with two players. Take both of them to college and try to get the Doctor career, as it is the highest paying. Then just play the game. Anytime you land on a space where you lose money or lose you job, redo the turn. Also, anytime the other player lands on a blue space that would sue you, redo the turn as well. With these tips, you should have no problem getting this achievement. You can try to get $2,000,000 with either of the players.

Beat another player who is nominated to be sued in a lawsuit.

This is the only achievement that must be done in a SOLO GAME. It first requires that a CPU player lands on a blue-colored space and sues you. Then you must play an Exemption card to get out of being sued. Exemption cards are received at the beginning of the game when you choose your three Share the Wealth cards. Just start up a 2-player game against the CPU and make sure you get an Exemption card at the beginning of the game. Then just play through the game normally and hope the CPU lands on a blue space.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-5lzaw==.jpg Top of the World - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Be a Doctor and own the Mansion House.

Work towards getting this achievement when grinding the ten victories with 2-player games. Send both of your players to college and hope one of them gets the Doctor career. If neither does, you can just restart the game. Play through the game all the way, making sure not to lose your job or switch careers with your Doctor. Then, when the option comes to buy your second house, purchase the Mansion. It costs $800,000, but you can take out a loan to get it if need be. The achievement will unlock right away.

NOTE: Only one player can buy the mansion per game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-5lzaw==.jpg MVP - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Be an Athlete and own the Mansion House.

Work towards getting this achievement when grinding the ten victories with 2-player games. Do not go to college with both of your players and hope one of them gets the Athlete career. If neither does, you can just restart the game. Play through the game all the way, making sure not to lose your job or switch careers with your Athlete. Then, when the option comes to buy your second house, purchase the Mansion. It costs $800,000, but you can take out a loan to get it if need be. The achievement will unlock right away.

NOTE: Only one player can buy the mansion per game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-5lzaw==.jpg Money Money Money - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Have an investment pay off 5 times in a single game.

First, you will need to invest money on the wheel. This is done by tapping the bottom of the screen when it is your turn on the area that says "Tap or spin to play." Once the menu pops up, tap "Invest." This will allow you to spend $10,000 to purchase the rights to a number on the wheel. Anytime another player spins and lands on the number you purchased, you will get $5,000. You need other players to land on your number 5 times total throughout the game.

This achievement is most easily attempted in 4-player multiplayer. Just purchase one number with each player. With four people, you are almost certain to get this achievement rather quickly. Just keep spinning until the same invested number pays out 5 times.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/+t19ug==.jpg In it to win it - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Win $500,000 on Spin to Win.

This is the most luck based achievement in the game. As you play the game, there are some spaces (that are yellow and blank) that if you land on, you are able to play Spin to Win. Basically it lets you choose one number, bet some money, then spin the wheel to see if it lands on it. To unlock this achievement, you need to make sure you place the max bet ($50,000) and then land on your number. There are several Share the Wealth cards that can increase your odds of getting this achievement. They allow you to either pick 2 or 4 total numbers on the wheel at once, instead of the usual 1 number, greatly increasing your odds of winning.

Just play the game and spin as normal. If you want to bother, you can keep restarting games until your players get the cards that increase your chance of winning. Also, make sure you take the "Risky" path near the end of the game. While grinding to ten victories in 2-player games, you will likely get 1-2 chances each game on Spin to Win.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/+t19ug==.jpg On Patrol - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Be a Police Officer and bust another player for speeding.

This is another luck based achievement. To become a Police Officer, you first need to choose not to go to college and just hope you pick this career. While you are a Police Officer, you can get $5,000 from any player that spins a 10 on the wheel, as they are speeding. This will come without really trying.

If you are having trouble, start a 4-player game and choose not to go to college with all the players. One of them should get Police Officer. If not, keep restarting until one does. Then just keep taking turns with all the players. It should not take long before one of your players spins a 10.

WIN ACHIEVEMENTS (2 for 55 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 2 achievements are related to winning Games of Life and can be obtained in single player or pass-and-play multiplayer.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/-FiCTQ==.jpg Living the Life - 5 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Win 1 game of original.

See "Lifetime Achievement."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2533/+9Mrow==.jpg Lifetime Achievement - 50 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Win 10 games of original.

Original is the only game type you can play. It is just the basic Game of Life. Along the way to completing all the miscellaneous achievements, you should earn at least three wins, if not more. The quickest and most painless way to grind wins is to play 2-player multiplayer (with you controlling both players). It does not matter which player wins, as long as you finish the game you will get a win added to your total. You do not even need to pay attention while grinding the wins. Just keep spinning the wheel and selecting random options for both players. Each game will take around 30 minutes if you are constantly spinning the wheel. I found this achievement best to boost while watching TV or something similar. In order to actually pop the achievement, after your 10th win, you may need to start up a single-player game and take a turn or two. Thanks to JieXY for posting this last bit of info.

Make sure if you are playing pass-and-play multiplayer while working towards the miscellaneous achievements, that you finish the game if you are more than half way through to get credit for the victory.

NOTE: It would be a tad faster to play against the CPU since you can fast forward through their turns, but the game is still mostly luck-based and you may or may not win every game. If you lose to the CPU it will not count as a win. You could also use the "Home Button" trick to try to ensure victory, but this is likely more hassle than it is worth. Just stick to 2-player multiplayer and there is no effort involved.

3 achievements didn't unlock for me that should have...wonder if they are glitchy.

played a 2 player game. Player that win had more kids and didn't get an achievement. Another player tried suing my first player and I used an exempt card and again no achievement. And finally in a game I had an Investment spun 6 or 7 times an no achievement. Going to play another game and hope some of these unlock. Oddly I got the win 500k off spin to win on my first game and that unlocked.

Edit: got the Investment one but still no luck with winning with most kids or exempting a lawsuit and I've dine both multiple times.

Neither guide tells you this but DON'T BLAME ME! must be done in a SOLO game and NOT in a pass and play game! I tried numerous times and it never unlocked but as soon as I tried it in a solo game it popped first time =)

Beat another player who is nominated to be sued in a lawsuit.

Guide needs to say this in SOLO MODE ONLY

I found this over on TA which explains it... (Thanks to Spilner)

This must be done in a solo game

Start up a solo game and make sure you get an exemption 'Share The Wealth' card. Around the board there are blue squares, these are the sue spaces, for the achievement you need the AI to land on one of these squares and sue you, at this point choose to use your exemption card and the achievement is yours.

The achievement for 10 wins didn't unlock for me right away after 10 games of local multiplayer. I then started a single player game and right after the AI used a share the wealth card on me, the achievement unlocked. Hope this is useful when someone experiences the same as I did.

Lifetime Achievement did not unlock for me after winning pass&play 8 times and 5 times vs AI.

Any advise?

ThaNX

EDIT: Started vs AI and after his 2nd spin it unlocked without even finishing the game.

ThaNX Arsenic 17 for your reply.

This game is quite weird. I just fulfilled the requirement for Family Values, but the achievement didn't pop. I came here to ask if it had to be done in solo mode, meanwhile my phone went to sleep mode in LIFE's main menu. Switched on my phone to re-read the achievement description and all of the sudden the achievement popped.

wow I haven't heard of that behavior in this game but glad it unlocked for you. I definitely did it in multiplayer and it unlocked normally at the end of the game with some other achievements.

I am having a hell of a time unlocking Family Values....I have all the other achievements for this game, I have tried solo and multiplayer, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've pretty much tried everything. If anyone has any suggestions, they would certainly be appreciated.

Sorry it has been brought to my attention by Evil Monkey that you MUST have at least 4 kids with the winning player (and have more that the other player). Any less than a full car will not unlock the achievement.

Try that and tell me if that works. Thanks for reminding me. Sorry I will update ASPA.

Thanks for the reply! Just tried this after reinstalling again, and I finally got it to pop. I finished with 4 kids, and it didn't pop immediately, I had to wait in the main menu for a couple minutes before it happened. It also showed it unlocked on my Xbox, but the points did not add to my gamerscore. Better than nothing though, this was driving me crazy!
