Claim victory in a Unification Battle in Mercenary Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

In order to enter a Unification Battle, you must back a specific clan. The best way to do this is to always fight on one clan's side and never fight against them. Eventually, the option Serve the House of <clan> will appear under Select Event for 50 Gems. Selecting this will force your allegiance with that clan. After fighting for that clan for another length of time, the mission Uniting The Land will appear in Select Mission. Complete this event to end Mercenary Mode and unlock the achievement. Note that you must save your game afterwards to unlock the achievement.

NOTE: I would suggest making a save before completing this event, saving the result to a different slot to unlock the achievement, and going to Save/Load and loading up your old save. The new save will force you to start a new Mercenary Mode, so the old save will allow you to start from before the Unification Battle. You can still unlock new side missions with this event active.

Become the greatest in the land in Mercenary Mode(SW2XL) and save your game.

Collect all 10 Precious Swords and complete the Battle For Supremacy Mission in Stage 100. This WILL NOT unlock if you complete a Unification Battle instead of the Battle For Supremacy. The Precious Swords are obtained through Secret Missions and offerings in Select Event. The full list of swords is below. Note that you must save your game afterwards to unlock the achievement.

Kanesada - Available from the Select Event menu for 30 Gems upon reaching Stage 21.

Ichimonji - Available from the Select Event menu after completing the Guard the Princess 2 Mission in Stage 27. In order to receive this mission, all other Princess missions to this point must be completed (Guard the Princess 1 and Save the Princess 1 & 2).

Munechika - Available from the Select Event menu after completing the Kagemusha Mission on Stage 36.

Murasame - Available from the Select Event menu as Gift From Peasants on Stage 41. Costs 30 Gems.

Yasutsuna - Received after completing the Treasure Thief Mission in Stage 44. In order to receive this mission, all other Treasure missions to this point must be completed.

Sukesane - Received after completing the Mighty Swordsman Mission in Stage 51.

Koshino - Received after completing the Hero of the Battlefield Mission in Stage 71.

Osamitsu - Available from the Select Event menu as Offering From Noble on Stage 81. Costs 35 Gems.

Odenta - Received after completing the Dream Team Mission in Stage 86.

Ochiba - Available from the Select Event menu as Reward From The Shogun in Stage 99. Costs 40 Gems.

Thanks Terrin - that's what I thought.

I believe Unification has to deal with completion of Mercenary Mode and Greatest has to deal with completing Mercenary Mode with all Precious Swords after reading around, as collecting all of the Precious Swords grants a different ending. I'm on Stage 27 currently and I completed the Rescue Princess 1 mission earlier so I should see this soon.

Can someone please document the Princess missions for the previous Stages, or possibly document ALL of the special missions that appear? I'll start doing so from where I'm at on Stage 27, but I'll need the missions from the previous Stages and confirmation from someone else that those are the Stages that trigger the special mission being available in Select Event.

Just got the Unification Battle achievement. I played as Kotaro Fuma and was on the Oda clans side until i joined it at about stage 14. Then i fought on their side until stage 21 then got my first sword from the merchant. I then fought the next battle and after it there was a bunch of dialog about how i survived 21 battles and unified the land. I saved my game and got the achievement but then it took me back to the main menu and now i can't continue from stage 21, i have to start from stage 1 again .

Dug this up for you guys. This is a copy-paste, so I can't take any credit:

"4 of them can be obtained by paying balls in Event list. Other 6 have to be obtained from clear Special mission stage.

Special missions where you can get sword : (name might be different in US version)

Escort Princess - part 2

Defeat sword master

Rob the rich

One man riding

Defeat fake

Musou fighting

About when you can see the event to buy swords :

(estimated, not fixed)

Around stage 21, 41, 81 and 99."

Credit goes to Opver_gv on Gamefaqs.

So how long does each stage take?? 100 is a lot, so this could take a while.

Okay, cool, thanks. I'll grab the official mission names, required missions (if I can track them down reliably enough) and weapon names and add them to the top as they trickle in. I'll quote this at the top post so that people have a good idea of how to get everything.

It takes approximately 5-10 minutes to clear a Stage if you're going for the maximum number of Gems per stage, which results in approximately 9 - 17 hours worth of gameplay depending on your style and strength of character. It takes me 5 minutes with a maxed out Musashi, clearing the stage completely of officers and checking for events.

Yeah, as long as you don't spend your gems on stupid things, you can get away with that. Also, using guards with Charisma and ...Yukimura's skill that gives you gems every 50 KOs, whatever that is... really helps out. I'm blazing through now at about 2 minutes per Stage, which equates to about 3.5 hours (including extra time).

EDIT: It took me 8 hours to complete this, although I could complete it within 6 if I rushed.

Oh shit Terrin so you saved over your level 99 file?? That sucks. I'm running 5 save slots. lol

About which stage did you guys get the Unification battle on?? I'm on stage 30 and I've been doing mostly Date clan missions and special missions. I've been part of their clan (50 gems) for like the last 7 stages.

Is it possible to run out of gems and not be able to get something important?? I haven't been increasing my mercenarie's levels beause of the 10 gem cost. I would hate to get a special event or sword to pop up and not have enough gems.

Okay, so it's done. Here are my findings.

You should have enough gems to do EVERYTHING in the special events menu. The only expensive thing is joining a clan. Just make sure you have more than 50 at all times and you'll be fine. There's a bodyguard skill "Adulation" that gives you a gem for every 50 kills which will help ease your mind if you're still worried. Mitsuhide and Yukimuru both have it. If you check the events after every stage and participate in every special battle, you will have all swords by stage 99, then the Battle for supremacy pops for stage 100 and bam you're done. ;)
