Everyone's Thoughts on the Game So Far

So the game released 13 hours ago here, and I was just wondering what everyone else's thoughts on the game were so far.

For myself, the game is a look more brighter then GTAIV, granted it isn't in the city, but I love driving through and seeing all the luscious green and blues going by.

I have seen no considerable drop in frame-rate or any lag yet, and this is without both discs installed, so I am in no rush to install the second one yet.

The only annoying thing to me is inside the game guide, I have seen no references to multiplayer, but if I am missing something, feel free to tell me where it is.

Multiplayer launches in October.

So far its pretty decent, im loving the story line so far. Scenery is beautiful and the lighting is gorgeous. Missions load seamlessly and the time waiting for something to happen is very minimal. Its straight to the action.

Streets are a lot more populated. No more walking around for ages trying to find that one car to get you back home! Having a bit of fun with the Stock exchange too which is great. Havent played any sports yet though.

Just a few of the small Cons so far;

Traffic still pisses me off, people not getting out of the way and a lot more civilians die on head-on impact than they did on GTAIV. The handling when your car is damaged is a much more realistic which is fantastic.

The only thing is not enough traction for the cars. Especially in 4x4 and offroad vehicles. Even going up Michael's driveway my car was skidding uncontrollably to get up.

Escaping from the Cops is easy. But the time it takes for them to give up the search is bullshit. Even on 1 star I was on the run for a good 5 minutes. My max so far has only been 3 star from missions. Even hiding down an alley way or behind a building out of view will still trigger the cops finding you even though you're not in their line of sight. Staying stationary completely away from all the cops doesn't make the search end any faster too. Am I the only one frustrated with this?

i am only about a half hour into the game but it's already obvious how much they revamped the controls

it feels so much smooth and fluid when i'm panning the camera around and the shooting mechanics are awesome

graphics look great as well

i don't have much else to share yet but i am so damn excited i had to share something

sorry for the rant, back to the game

i actually am only about 10 missions in and i feel very immersed in the game and story, very few games really make you feel immersed anymore, GTA 5 makes me feel personally that im not just sitting holding a controller, from the cutscenes, to the freaks, to the activites, even changing protaganists, it all feels so seemlessly connected, i dont know what a character will be doing when i switch to them, its great how they fixed the driving in 5 and how, while it has minor downsides, the games is a great experience

Definitely agree with this. I've lost their sight and had no cops on my minimap for about 3 minutes on a 1 star level and then they finally decide to stop the search. Otherwise the game immense. So much more smoother than IV and so much more to do..and this is just the smaller half of the game! The graphics are actually gorgeous too.

I don't know if this actually does anything but anytime I hide from the cops I park the car in a dark spot and turn the lights off. I've had helicopters and cars drive right past me and not notice me. I know the dark area helps you stay hidden but I don't know about the lights. Either way it's working for me.

i am not sure if this always works or if i got lucky but i got rid of a 3 star rating by losing the cops initially so the map was grey and then i climbed a ladder onto a roof

even when the cops sight line was on me, it didn't trigger the blue and red hud

the cops walked around on the ground level for a bit and then left and my wanted level disappeared

I love the game, it's amazing. The level of detail is astounding. When you move onto missions with Franklin, both he & Lamar have different clothes on. When a character is moving uphill, you can see & feel the difference. They all move & feel different, you actually feel like like going up a staircase is actually happening.

I haven't seen or encountered any lag or bugs yet, it's been extremely smooth.

I have absolutely ZERO issues with this game so far, I'm so impressed! I played the hell out of GTAIV despite my issues with it and this just takes the cake. What a fucking way to go out this generation. I've done maybe 15 missions thus far but the majority of my time has been getting money, doing sidequests, traveling around unlocking the map and just enjoying myself in the world. I've robbed some stores and dealt with the police and while getting them to give up the search is a pain, I can't help but think the difficulty of that was built around more of the idea of making GTA Online more hectic than single player. The degree of difficulty associated with getting rid of the police while also getting away from other players trying to all kill you just makes GTA Online seem even more appealing now.

Everything is fine with the game and I'm enjoying it a lot except two things:

A - fucking cops!

B- no sight of any casino or gambling yet!

I actually said this to you in the bitching forum. There is a casino, but you can't go inside it.

Cops are easy to evade once you get an understanding of the environment. Just find someplace to hide and lay low.

I only played a few missions last night and it was very 'meh' to me so far. I think the hype got to me, so I was expecting so much more, but it came out being exactly what I should have expected.... a GTA game. I need to play it more, obviously. Hopefully, I can forget my initial excitement and thoroughly enjoy the game for what it is. I'll resume playing tonight after work. I think I need to just play the game and not give a damn about getting gold in every mission.

Anyone else think that the cars can take too much damage before being totalled?

No kidding. I robbed an armored truck and parked it behind a building. Then I stole an SUV and proceeded to ram into the back of the armored truck repeatedly to get the doors open. Didn't work and I didn't see any smoke coming out of the SUV at all. Eventually I just shot the back of the truck a few times with a shotgun and it popped open.
