I've finished stage one and received 15,000,000+ points for my trouble. That was WITH fighting Faintear. I don't think there is really any better strategy than what has been posted so far. To maximize points you need to shoot any target you can't anchor throw. And when there are many enemies on screen you need to anchor throw one into them to maximize your potential bonus points. Don't forget to destroy the bosses with anchor throws when there are many bullets on screen. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/594/+gCN3Q==.jpgScore 100,000,000 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpgComplete the game with a score of 100,000,000 points. Seriously though, it's more of the same, hard difficulty should yield more points. But I haven't played in hard mode enough to tell. Working on the other achievements so far. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/594/++B1Tg==.jpgDestroy Faintear (Level 1) 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpgDestroy Faintear in the first level. You must collect 3000 points (the 2nd number, not the big number) My advice is to not die, it costs you 20-30% of your points when you do. Utilize the anchor to destroy whatever you can on screen before getting to the boss, I had about 2100 points when I reached him. Grab the last enemy ship before the boss (A brown yellow chopper I believe) and hold onto it until the boss appears, next wait for a respectable amount of bullets to be on the screen before you hurl the ship into it's cockpit. This should kill it if your aim is good. Collect the points on screen and get a nice bonus. It's 2nd form will begin and release small bits that shoot a a large amount of bullets. Grab one of them and once there is a healthy number of bullets on the screen. Hurl them into it's cockpit again. One should kill it, if not. You can easily grab a 2nd and do it again. Now I believe the 3rd form requires 2300 points at least. (Will get the number down and edit later) Grab one of the 2nd forms bits and use this to kill it when plenty of bullets are on screen. Very easy. For the 4th form you need 2500 points+ This one is fairly annoying to dodge and it is hard to tell when It's bits are dropped out with everything on screen. Just dodge the shots for a bit and throw your anchor out. You should be able to get one. if not. Just bomb the screen, don't worry, it won't kill the boss and some bits will be left over. Grab them and repeat again with a screen full of bullets. 5th form needs 2800 I believe. If you've managed to get this far you are almost in the clear, this is all good training for the level 3 achievement and the harder ones. 5th form sadly doesn't seem to bring out any bits to throw, hopefully you snagged one of the leftovers from the last fight just like in form 2 and used them. After that just lock on and shoot for the rest of the damage. If you break 3000 (Took me a few tries) after the boss is destroyed Faintear will appear. Just have at her like usual, don't use any continues because it seems that ruins the achievement. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/594/+MdhQA==.jpgDestroy Faintear (Level 3) 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpgDestroy Faintear in the third level. Thanks to SakuraFire for the tips. Going through the level on Normal without getting hit you should have about 2,000 points, give or take a few. There are six large ships at the end of the level, so make sure you grab the last one. Keep spinning it until you get to the boss. I'm not sure you can 1-hit kill the boss like the others, but that's a good thing. (I've tried 3 times now.) Try to wait until the boss has a lot of shots out and is vertical. Toss the ship at the Big Boss and you should get one or both of it's wings, gaining you quite a few points. If you wait a bit it will send out smaller ships at you, giving you fodder to throw at it. Grab another ship after you kill it. The second form doesn't rotate like the last, but is more like a big stationary target. It shoots out a lot of projectiles so watch out and stay near the bottom. Throw the ship you had from the previous form or try to get the last shot when there are a lot of bullets on the screen. I managed to get past this form with over 3k points. 3rd form is tough and has a frontal lazer attack. Make sure to grab the mines and throw it into the cockpit. Don't get hit! You might have to dodge quite a bit for this guy. Get him with over 3100 and Faintear should spawn. (3145 was my lowest number.) http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/594/+SeZ0w==.jpgNo Miss Clear 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpgComplete the entire game without losing a life. Still working on this myself, the best strategies have been posted in the forum though. Utilize the anchor, keep an eye on your character more than the enemies, and if you need to. I'll have to check again this evening. Looking at the settings, when you highlight Player Stock and Bomb Stock there is a message. "If you change this setting your score cannot be posted to the Leaderboards." is what it says. I don't see anything that invalidates achievements if you mess around. Are you sure? I got the achievement for beating faintear on lvl 1 with the game being set to easy, countless bombs and a whole bunch of lives. Did you start at lvl 3 instead of lvl 1? Then MAYBE you have to start at lvl 1 and play all the way to lvl 3...which really could be a pain in the behind.
tsukasa1288
>>Dr.D yea, i skipped to level 3 and beat her and got no achievement. also to clear things up for myself(and others), i can vouch for the fact you can earn some achievements with the settings changed. i just got the no miss clear achievement on easy mode with only 1 life as the starting stock. so i would assume this means more lives/bombs won't effect any of the other achievements. Dr.D
>>Dr.D yea, i skipped to level 3 and beat her and got no achievement. It's gonna be really anoying if you have to play from lvl 1 - lvl 3 to get the Achievement for beating Faintear in lvl 3 ... Hmmm did you lose a life (And thus losing medals) during a boss fight? Sakurafire
I'm having the damnest time trying to get the "Destroy Faintear (Level 1)" acheivement. XD I was playing on Normal today and managed to totally screw up and get hit once on the 4th version of the 1st Big Boss. No Faintear for me. However I got to level 4 and died at 48,000k-ish points. I did get Faintear in the 3rd level with no problem without getting hit once. Took me less than a minute to defeat the Big Boss and her. I was so proud I was shouting and yelling. ^_^ Definately love this game. Can't wait for Ikuraga! By the way; here are some tips on getting to the 3rd level boss. (I've tried 3 times now.) The first one is easy enough but the 2nd and 3rd form will move around and shoot a lot of projectiles at you. Just keep dodging, shooting when you have a clear shot, and grabbing the pieces of her rotating shield to use against her. She's easy enough, just don't die! ^^ Good luck getting the achievement. (And sorry if it's really long.)
NoaAltwynn
I'd like to note that you do not actually have to complete the with the high score to get the Score 50,000,000 achievement. I had to continue in the last level with about 70,000,000, which ended up being the high score, and after the credits rolled I still got the achievement. It looks like you just need to get at least 50,000,000 listed as the high score. I'm going to assume that Score 100,000,000 works the same way. Sakurafire
Problem about that is by the time you're in level 4 it's hard to get back up. But still I'm gonna try again this weekend and hopefully do it. Good luck to the rest of you. edit: Got the achievement!! XD Last night I was playing and got 50,000,000 points right after level 3. I ended the level without getting hit on Normal, beating Faintear with 5230 studs (or whatever the hell they're called) collected. I ended up dying, though, in level 4 with no bombs at the end... Again. I'm still getting used to the whole throwing thing...
Aegith
To anyone who's gotten 100,000,000 points achievement: What's a good guideline for point accumulation at the end of each level? Haven't really played it yet, would this come with beating the game on normal w/o dying? Would I need to play on hard to accumulate this many points? Is there a difference in points between the 3 modes? (Enemies worth more, more enemies, etc.) Thanks.
Sakurafire
I haven't noticed a difference with harder game difficulties. If you want to accumulate points, just get as many studs as possible and defeat the enemies without getting hit. Each big boss has several forms, yielding more and more points. I "think" I just confirmed the level skip thing, you can't get level 3 faintear achievement with level skip, I played it once with max bomb and max live, I got killed once but still managed to reach faintear (with 3200 points only btw), no achievement, I retried with all default settings, same thing... both times with level select set to level 3. ShinUkyo
Thanks for the tip on no-miss clear. Saved me a lot of frustration on that one. Here's a tip for people trying to collect more gold medals on the stages (and achieve the secret bosses, higher boss forms, etc). This is assuming you are playing with auto-rotation turned on, the default control setup. When you use the anchor, to toss an enemy through a stream of bullets and into ships, you obviously get the bigger medals. But when you kill enemies with just constant shooting, you can hold down the shoot button longer to pump up the medal size... But the key to really big medal totals is to combine both methods together. When you begin rotating an enemy with the anchor, make sure to also hold down the shoot button. You should have both buttons held down. And when you release the anchor button, to throw the enemy, just make sure to keep the shoot button held down. This will mean that those large medals gained from the throw will be pumped up to even bigger sizes! Just don't go overboard with keeping the shoot button held down, otherwise you may accidentally kill too many enemies that come afterwards. This method is especially helpful on the bosses, when chucking an enemy at them. Wait for a huge stream of bullets, and chuck the enemy at the boss. Not only do you get lots of big medals in the first place, but pumping them up like I described above will get you obscenely high amonts of medals. Using this method, like on the level three boss for example, can help you to get to Faintear on that stage even IF you started off the boss battle will only a thousand medals or so. The most important thing to remember is that holding down the shoot button will lock and pump up the size of any medals on screen that you catch early enough. So even if those medals weren't produced from shooting enemies down, the shoot button can still pump up their size. Same goes for when you capture a huge enemy with the anchor, and spin it for a while to smash down hoardes of smaller ships. Make sure not to let go of the anchor button... you can hold and then release the shoot button multiple times before the large enemy's life is depleted, meaning tons of extra large medals. An example of this is about halfway through stage one. The original arcade game was based around a joystick, so using the Hori Stick or something similar will make this method much easier. Trying to do it with your regular pad will take some practice. At first, it will be tough to release the shoot button without accidentally releasing the anchor button as well. But if you have a joystick, I recommend using it, since fingertip control is much more precise. That or try playing with auto-rotate turned off, but that's a whole 'nother realm of difficulty. Reggiez
Hi all Did not understand the tip about " No-Miss Clear". Played through the entire game and got hit only once during the last boss. Took a continue and finished her off but then no achievement. What did I do wrong? Had my settings to Life 1 and No Extend. Do you also have to have it on Normal difficulty for it to work? Would appreciate any help.
