Introduction:

Welcome to the latest instalment of EA’s official world cup games, this time for the 2010 world cup in South Africa. Unfortunately due to server closers by EA, the maximum 1000 gamerscore is no longer available in this game. Instead, a maximum of 715 points are up for grabs, although these are pretty straightforward and should not take much time to complete. You will also want to have the achievement guide by daenius open up as well:

NOTE: Before you start playing the game, be sure to make a list of all 32 teams who have qualified for the 2010 World Cup in real life, and tick any teams off that you beat as you progress through the game. (See further below for a complete list of teams that have qualified)

Walkthrough:

This section will contain a number of steps to follow in order to unlock all available achievements as quickly as possible.

STEP 1:

NOTE: Before starting this step you'll probably want to be aware that you have to play at least 6 qualifying campaigns, so you may want to be aware of the region of the nation you use first (Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, CONCACAF, South America).

The first step will be to play through a full world cup campaign, including both qualifying and the actual tournament itself, which you will eventually need to win.

The achievements you should be aiming for on this first step are:

NOTE: The difficulty will have to be set at Semi-Pro for this first step to ensure all achivements are unlocked.

- Europe/Oceania/Asia/CONCACAF/Africa/South America Qualifier (Depends on which team you use)

- Lightning Quick Strike

- Defend, defend, defend

- We'll just score more

- World Cup Winner

Step 2:

Here you will want to knock off another one of the qualifier achievements and one other, for this the difficulty must be set to semi-pro and you must choose a team that has qualified for the world cup but never scored in the finals, you should unlock:

- Europe/Oceania/Asia/CONCACAF/Africa/South America Qualifier (Depends on which team you use)

- Second Trip, First Goal

Step 3:

You should by now have at least 2 qualifying achievements, and will now want to knock off the final 4, so by the end of this step you should have all 6 achievement from:

- Europe/Oceania/Asia/CONCACAF/Africa/South America Qualifier

(Following the method in the achievement guide will see you net these in no time really, providing you have 2 controllers)

Step 4:

You will now want to start a play through of 'Captain Your Country' mode, similar to fifa's 'be a pro'. You'll need to play the whole campaign from the start of tournament qualifying, right through to winning the world cup. There is one achievement which requires you to play as a defender but this can be done at a later stage if you wish to play in a different position. You should have, by the end of this step, the following achievements:

- First Team Selection

- Managers First Choice

- Masterful Peformance

- The Captain

- Solid Performer

- Fair Play

- Most Hat-tricks

- Victorious!

and

- Hold the line (This requires you to play as a defender, but can be done on its own at another time if you wish)

Step 5:

This is where you will unlock the achievements for re-enacting certain world cup finals of recent history. All games will need to be played on Semi-Pro or above. You should now unlock:

- 2006 Fifa World Cup Final

- 2002 Fifa World Cup Final

- 1998 Fifa World Cup Final

Step 6 - Miscelleneous:

The final step here is to unlock the remaining achievements which cannot be unlocked alongside any other achievements, or would be very difficult unlocking alongside any others. You will now want to unlock the following:

- 2 Button Mentor

- Co-op Success

- Practice Penalty Kicks

- 2010 Fifa World Cup Mastery

- Pressure Cooker

- Practice Makes Perfect

- Hospitalities and Victories

- Concede No Goals

and if you didn't unlock it during the CYC campaign:

- Hold The Line

Conclusion + Mop-Up:

By now, if there are any offline achievements which you have failed to unlock so far, you can just go back and try to get them again on their own, it should not take long.

To conclude, EA's 2010 Fifa World Cup is not a difficult game offline, and although its a shame, the removal of the online servers (resulting in no online achievements being available) has made the game much easier in regards to unlock all the obtainable achievements, and should take you no longer than 12-15 hours.

Any feedback is much appreciated.
