Intro:

The King of Fighters XIII is the latest installment in the KOF series which carries off what the unfavorable XII left off; it also brings an end to the Ash Saga, which is the main focus of the Story.

General Achievement Note: Many of this games achievements can be unlocked in specific game modes, check the achievements for further details. Also, a little tidbit, the achievement names are based off the characters’ KO quotes or something else.

How To:

KOF, as always, is a 3 on 3 tag team fighter, but in 1 on 1 match-ups every round. Also has Single Play (Versus only) for regular 1 on 1 match-ups every round.

Controls:

Step 1: Starting Up

First things first, start playing the tutorial mode first for those who are beginners to KOF or just for those who want the achievement and see how the gameplay mechanics work, after that, play Arcade Mode where you’ll get these achievements, note that it will take 2 playthroughs in order to unlock Billy and Saiki (human form) and to also earn the tough achievements too, here’s what you’ll earn for these achievements towards Arcade.

1. Hey, Hey, Hey!

2. Great!

3. You can’t win against me!

4. Time will soon turn to ashes...

5. After all, you're just trash.

6. How was it?

7. This is... my victory!

8. Any other Misc. Achievements. (Target Actions, Super Finishes, Etc.)

Step 2: Customization and Online

Next up, go to Customize Mode to earn 2 achievements from there such as “It's about time to start!” and “Here I come, buddy!” and then right after that, you’ll start off with the online mode, where now the achievements for online is a bit reasonable than in KOF XII, of course, like certain online fighting games, there will be achievements that you have to win certain matches in a row and also get a certain number of wins and matches played. Here’s what you’ll earn for these achievements towards online play. Note that some of these are boostable with another player.

1. Okay!

2. Number 1

3. Yeah! I did it!

4. Yeah!

5. This was just a greeting!

6. Doesn't it feel good?

7. Isn't this fun, eh?

8. Excellent!

9. Let's play warrior!

10. Go easy on me!

11. Good!

12. Hehe... hot, wasn't it?

13. I shall not waver!

Step 3: Extras and Conclusion

After getting all the online achievements done, there’s the last set, and may be the difficult achievements to earn (the Mission Modes preferably), first off, if you have a 2nd controller ready or rather do it in Arcade mode, since your gauge will always fill up fast, you can get the Misc. Achievements done, such as the Target Actions (Arcade Mode only), Perform certain moves/finishes, and cancels. Then getting all those done will be the Extra modes such as Time Trial (up to 10 matches long), Survival (infinite matches), and the most challenging mode, Trials Mode. There is also Story Mode, in which the events of KOF XIII take place within cinematics and there are 5 possible routes and getting it complete 100%.

Complete the tutorial

Simply complete the Tutorial, the Tutorial is a game mode which pretty much is a how-to-play kind of mode with 2 systems, the Basics and the Gauge system.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPpyqvQ=.jpgIt's about time to start! - 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif

Register an icon, team and message in Customize

Go to Customize and then add an Icon, your reserved team, and a message for online match-ups. It will unlock once you do all 3 of those actions.

Create 10 characters in Customize

Although the description may be misleading, it’s supposedly to tell you to make 10 custom colors for color edit, but it must be done with 10 separate characters. Start with Elizabeth and finish it with Terry, of course, you don’t actually have to edit them, just save and exit.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPi1Rmk=.jpg Hey, hey, hey! - 20http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/g-icon.gif

Be challenged by "Billy" and win in ARCADE

The requirements to fight Billy Kane are to not continue and to get around 20+ Target Actions on average, Billy will face you as your 4th opponent in Arcade Mode, win the match and you’ll unlock him.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPlVvvo=.jpgGreat - 20:gsicon:

Be challenged by "Saiki" and win in ARCADE

The requirements to fight normal Saiki are to not continue and to get around 40+ Target Actions on average, Saiki will face you as your 4th opponent in Arcade Mode, win the match and you’ll unlock him.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPrrUzs=.jpg You can't win against me! - 20:gsicon:

Be challenged by "Ash" and win in ARCADE

The requirements to fight Ash Crimson are to not continue, and to get around more than 60+ Target Actions on average, Ash will face you as your 6th opponent in Arcade Mode, win the match and you’ll unlock the achievement.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPjKWo4=.jpgHow was it? - 30:gsicon:

Clear ARCADE MODE without continuing

Arcade Mode comprises of 8 stages plus 2 secret fights (either against Billy or Saiki before st.4 and Ash before st.6) if triggered, although the game may rather easy the first 6 fights, you may have trouble beating Boss-Type Saiki and Dark/Evil Ash, but they’re really easy, press D+HK the moment they get up or at the right moment, they will block sometimes, but proven to work, also, make sure not to continue though. (Can be done in any difficulty.) An easier way is to not get less than 25 million before st.6 so you don't have to fight the bosses, since this also works.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPkqoh0=.jpgThis is... my victory! - 40:gsicon:

Clear ARCADE MODE on VERY HARD

If you’re going for the How was it? Achievement, and if you have the skill, it means just beating the game on the Very Hard difficulty, but you must go to the Options menu and change it first. Same actions apply on the "How was it" achievement as well.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPyISeQ=.jpgLooks like I was just on time. - 10:gsicon:

Clear Time Attack mode for the first time

Self-Explanatory, just beat time attack with any one character, best if you start with Kyo first. Note: Time Attack is 10 Stages long, although, if you lose, you’ll have to start over.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UP1osXc=.jpgYou can't compare to me. - 40:gsicon:

Clear Time Attack mode with 30 characters

Same as “On Time”, but it requires you to beat it with 29 other characters after that, after finishing it with Kyo, start with Benimaru and then on. Note: Same rule for Time Attack still applies.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UP9JuMI=.jpgI will execute my mission! - 10:gsicon:

Defeat 3 characters in Survival mode

See:I'm enough for this job!

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UPwiiTc=.jpgI'm enough for this job! - 30:gsicon:

Defeat 35 characters in Survival mode

Survival Mode, as always in fighting games are your typical gauntlet kind of mode (lose and the game is over), in this you’ll have to beat 3 for starters and then beat 35 which include the bosses as well. Daimon's Earthquake Special move makes it easier.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UP3CcaQ=.jpgThat should do it! - 30:gsicon:

Complete all trials for 1 character in Trial mode

Simply complete 1 characters’ complete set of Trials, the easiest one to do is Maxima’s Trials. DLC characters also count towards it.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UP-jeBE=.jpgYes! I'm the best! - 50:gsicon:

Clear 200 trials in Trial mode

Simply complete 200 trials in Trial mode, since there are around 36 characters with 10 Trials each, pick the characters that are most suitable and easier to use and perform the trials with them. For a video check of trials, head to VesperArcade's YouTube Channel to see them all. Also, you must get a Trial Completion rate of 60% to unlock this. DLC characters also count towards it, but doesn't decrease Trial Completion rate though.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/achievements/1996/UP1biGs=.jpgYeah! I did it! - 40:gsicon:

Get 10 consecutive wins in a ranked match

Like all fighters with achievements, getting a certain amount of wins in ranked matches might be tough for some people, retrospectively, you must get 2, 5, and 10 wins in a row in Ranked matches, lose a match, and you’ll have to start over. Note that this might be very difficult to obtain since the matchmaking works like MVC3/3SO though. Of course though, easier way now is although cheap, you can RQ/DC (exit to dashboard) to save you streak, make sure your 3rd teammate doesn't get KO'd beforehand.

Example of an Easy set of Trials, Like Maxima's here...

Is the guide finished?

Telling people to simply do this and easily do that isn't good enough, explain fully how to do things as if you were taking someone through the game for the first time and EXPLAIN what each achievement requires you to do.

I did and I am, now this is the reason why I don't like it when you reply...All you ever do is talk smack on my guides yet again...As I said, I'll keep it updated just to fix it.

Besides, it's simple enough and already to the point. I don't have to be giving like a long paragraph to be explaining things that should be simple.

weird, I got SS achievement but not S one although my overall stats were SS

Well, maybe not get too much score, set it to 60 seconds, it works when I get S ranks though.

And tnx Tool Listener, I'll keep that in mind.

It's NOT simple to someone who has never played the game before.

In your MK Kollection guide, you just repeated what the achievement said. "Finish Mortal Kombat" Simply finish MK 1 using any character!

This is not a guide and this is why your MK Kollection guide wasn't stickied. All you are doing is reiterating the achievement description.

I wasn't going to write a guide if yours was good enough but you don't seem to have learnt since your MK Kollection mistakes.

And I see you haven't learn to keep your words to yourself, just get off my case and go back to FelizP with him dealing with the UMC3 guide and stuff, I've had enough BS just with you being on my last nerve.

And just for the record, I do have this game too.

For the "That should do it!" achievement (clear all 10 missions for one character), might i advise that you use Vice as a easier option than Kyo?

I haven't started everyones challenges yet (but i've done quite a lot now) and Vice's 10 so far has been the most lenient as far as input's go. She has no links (natural normal to natural normal in sequence- unlke Kim who has c.LP s.HK or far HK c.LK) her HD mode cancel is one of the simplest to master (HK>f+LP (HD) HK>f+LP) and her reps during HD mode combos are not as complex as they appear (they are usually just qcb & hcf motions for the most part and those are reasonably spaced out timing wise) and lastly her MAX Cancel is one of the easiest to get down (negative gain > NEOMAX - but make sure you do the NEOMAX the opposite way around (if 1P do it as 2P) on the last hit).

See Plym, someone agrees with me, now I don't want to read another of your BS lectures. That is all...
Well, I'm actually trying to help you and provide the forum with one good guide. You need to learn to take criticism if you put a guide up and stop being a whiny little baby about it.

I'll be writing my own guide when I get the game if no-one else does.

I am having some difficulty with executing the drive cancel in the tutorial. I have never played any of the kof games before this one so I am unsure if that is part of the problem. Does the symbol with the "D" in the purple star mean that you have to press something before entering the second combo? Or is it pretty much meaningless? I might just be entering the second combo too slow, but clarification would definitely help here. If am entering it too slow, then I would expect the character to atleast do something instead, like a simple lk attack signifying that the combo wasn't registered, but it isn't doing anything, and that is why I am beginning to wonder if I am doing something wrong.

btw, Do you guys recommend using the left thumbstick or the arrow pad for this game? I am just wondering because I can enter combos faster with the thumbstick but with a greater chance of error than if I use the arrow pad. However, the arrow pad seems too slow for me to enter the second half of the combo before I lose my chance to execute the drive cancel lol.

@ Plym:Uggh, seriously, you're just being a jackass now...

@ Tyranid: I suggest using the pad most of the time, unless you're used to the stick though. And some of the stuff in the Tutorials and in the Trials has to be performed rather quickly though.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I think i am going to try the second half of the tutorial again later lol. It is an hour and a half later and I am still stuck on the EX super Special Move combo. Just way to many commands to enter within a short period of time. And I keep jumping for some strange reason... oh well. Seriously though, thanks for the tip.

I am just wondering, is there a way to make the diagonal commands more accurate/precise? i think these are the commands that are throwing me off the most. Pressing Diagonally on the arrow pad does not always register as a diagonal input, same as the thumbstick. Also, do the directional commands need to be executed in one fluid movement to be completed on time or can the thumbstick/arrow pad snap back to its default position between each directional command? Sorry that I keep asking questions but I really want to have some of this stuff clarified so i can be certain that I am doing it right. What is the exact time that you should start executing the commands for the second part of a drive/ex cancel?
