Very good game

Hey, I wanted to make this thread just to say how much I love this game. Red river released today in North America and I am having a ball, anyone who is interested in buying this game do it. I played dragon rising and hated it, but this game is just so much fun and nothing like dragon rising.

Yea I agree. As soon as I entered the menu I knew it was already better than DR. Although it still has a little bit of the buggy/twitchy mechanics that DR had, but that's really every Op Flashpoint game since the first one lol. I'm on the third mission right now, as I got my copy today too.

I have moved to PC gaming for the most part, so I won't be on Xbox LIVE much anymore.

I haven't noticed many bugs. The only one I can recall is sometimes the humvee cutscene takes a second to start even with the full squad in.

This game rocks! It is a real change from all other shooters on the market and I love the way it makes you think about each move. It is probably the most realistic shooter out there. Looking forward to the DLC on the 16 June!!!

My iron sights/scopes sometimes appear with loads of multi-coloured patterns. That's the only bug I've noticed, but by far an improvement from Dragon Rising of which I absolutely loved despite its many bugs and peoples hatred for it!

Truly nice game. I've only rented and completed the Story Mode on the first day! Finished all the FTEs by the second day. The games story and co-op missions don't encourage enough play time - but then again the achievements do. Re-playable value is there, because I really enjoyed the story mode having run through it for a second time!

I've worked my ass off to get as far as I have with these achievements, but my Dragon Rising experience really paid off when it came to this game. Speaking of the gameplay, everything has been tweaked real nicely to just add up all of those minor improvements to OFP: DR. On the other hand... it feels slightly silly that we're paying 40 for another Flashpoint game that only tweaks the gameplay, and provides a brand new setting with a new story.

That's fair enough though, because the story and its characters this time are more enjoyable than the bland-ness of DR. The constant shouting over gunfire and tactical approach to combat made me feel like I was really performing like a Marine in this game compared to most shooters (No names )

The class customisation was a necessity, player skills was a nice invention and certainly went down very well with me as I really liked the idea of improving some of the soldiers abilities! The graphics work much better in this game due to the setting. The EGO Engine clearly wasn't cut out for the trees and green grass in DR, at distance perhaps it looked okay but DR suffered with its closer environment visuals! Red River has nice graphics from close and far, although it truly is nothing in comparison to some of the other games hitting the market now.

All in all, fantastic game. Wished I'd have bought it instead of rented, because I would've had no hesitation to buy the DLC and take my time attempting to max the games achievements rather than rushing myself with only the core 1,000G in my rental time limit!

I have never bashed a game before - I could NOT stand this game at all.

Just seemed so fucking annoying at times, I wanted to piss down that black mans throat. "Shut the fuck up!"

Graphics suck. Voicing sucks. Everything is shit. First level I sat in the humvee waiting for my dumb AI buddies to get a move on. They just stood around. Commanding them didn't even work. I had to get out and pop a few rounds into one of them before they decided to get into the fucking humvee.

Game just sucks. Anyone know the trade in value? I paid full retail 59.99 -- would I make more money selling it on Ebay or trading it back to gamestop.

I don't take anything you said seriously after saying the graphics sucked. Your just some angry 12 year old kid so you just say everything about the game is bad.
Oh and the humvee situation, you have to wait for Alpha and Charlie team to get on their humvee's.

Dragon Rising was ok, but this game has it beat in just about every category.

Too often in DR were you pitted against ridiculous numbers of enemies bearing down on you with 50 cals, armor, etc.... it just wasn't realistic for a small fireteam to be able to handle all that at once. Playing through the missions was mostly just annoying, and there wasn't much actual fun involved. In Red River, you are working with an entire squad, and none of the encounters are so absurd. Every mission is fun, and you are constantly using different tactics/equipment/etc. Also, the ability to customize your weapon kits with various scopes and whatnot is awesome, as are the various mods for your character.

I don't know anyone who played DR ever again after finishing the achievements. But with Red River, people can't seem to get enough. The FTE's are a blast, and you can always challenge yourself to get better scores. The replay value for Red River is so much more than DR that they hardly seem like the same franchise. Red River is what Ghost Recon could have been if Clancy hadn't sold the rights to it. Amazing game.

Best tactical shooter yet for the 360, hands down.

I read so many negative reviews for the game, and I had pre-ordered it. I went to Gamestop wondering if I should even waste my time. I haven't stopped playing it yet, it is a solid title. It is better than Dragon Rising, but I liked that one a little. If they could get more funding for this franchise, and maybe spend more time working out some of the small bugs, it could be a huge franchise IMO. SOCOM style.

Yeah if a game is different and fun it always gets a bad review. If a game is like all the other games (crysis 2) it gets good reviews. That's why I don't trust reviews especially not ign. G4 is usally pretty accurate though.

Honestly this game is horrible. The graphics and controls sucked from the little I did get to play of it. And it is just overrun with issues/glitches. Problem after problem...the game has already dropped severely in price in North America and not a single Dev from codemasters will post about the problems on their own forums lol. Personally unless you rent it or find it super cheap I wouldn't waste your money/time on this one.

I havnt played this one yet, but I really enjoyed dragon rising (Only played at friends house but i did complete missions) and honestly this game is taking away a lot of stuff that made dragon rising what it was and I think if they're going to change everything that much that they should have just made a new game completely and not have continued the operation flashpoint series.

Good to hear someone is liking it. I loved the hell out of Dragon Rising and am just not enjoying this one too much. I don't hate it, and I'm still going to play it. Maybe I just have to get used to it, it's so different from Dragon Rising. My friend likes it, so Co-Op always makes a game worth it. I just find it kinda boring, and a little too strict. Example being that because I didn't order my squad to move in (I had them "follow me".) I got an objective failed, and a bronze star. I mean, that's just stupid. I find there's very little freedom, and a game like this should be all about freedom. I do like being able to snipe whenever I want though.
