INTRODUCTION
Prepare to die! That one short sentence sums up a lot about this game. This is FROM SOFTWARE's spiritual successor to the original Demons' Souls on PS3. This game is not for the the casual player, it requires lots of focus and attention to survive. Over the course of the game you will earn 41 achievements for a total of 1000 and cannot be completed in less than 3 playthroughs. This game almost identical to Demons' but with some changes, so if you have played Demons' then you shouldn't have too hard of a time.

BREAKDOWN

Playthough 1: This will be the playthrough in which you will get most of your achievements if you do things in the right order. On this playthrough you should be able to find all of the covenant's but it is suggested not to complete the Gravelord Servant covenant and the Sunlight Warrior covenant until another playthough. You can also find and forge the majority of the rare weapons and spells, but in order to do so you must interact with certain NPCs and be invaded at specific points in the game. Please check the spells section and rare weapons section for further information on NPCs. In order to obtain all of the rare weapons, you must be living at the time you explore specific areas so that NPC phantoms will appear.

Playthrough 2: This playthrough you should have enough eye of deaths to get your rank high enough to get the remaining miracles and weapon forging related achievements, but not Knight's Honor, that will be unlocked on your third play. Easy enough to play the game again and head into NG++

Playthrough 3 & Clean Up: This should be your last playthrough. All you need to do is get a third soul from Great Wolf Sif and reach Anor Londo to craft the last rare weapon to unlock Knight's Honor. If you have missed any achievements, now is the time to work on them.

CONCLUSION
As stated above, this game is not for the casual gamer. It has quite a steep learning curve to it, but if you manage to adapt to it, this game is very rewarding and fun. If you enjoyed Demons' Souls on the PS3 then you will enjoy this. Don't forget to take time out of your busy dying schedule to dust yourself off and regain your humanity. Congratulations on another completion!

COVENANT ACHIEVEMENTS

Covenant: Way of White - 15
Discover Way of White covenant.

The Way of White will be the easiest covenant to join and is located at the Firelink Shrine.
How to Join: Speak with the rather large looking cleric at Firelink Shrine, near all the large pots a few times and he will ask you to join.

Ranks:
None

Covenant: Gravelord Servant - 25
Discover Gravelord Servant covenant.

The Gravelord Covenant is a bit harder to find as it is in the Catacombs.
NOTE: If you defeat Nito, you cannot join the Gravelord Covenant until your next playthrough!
How to Join: You first need to get into the Catacombs and find your way into a long hallway with a Titanite Demon in it. Behind him you need to loot the body for the Eye of Death then look for a coffin that sticks out further than the rest. Get into the coffin and wait for a minute to be transported to Nito's room. Speak with him to join the covenant. If you join you will earn a Gravelord Sword and Gravelord Dance miracle.

Ranks:
give Nito 10 eye of deaths to deepen your pact enough to earn the second miracle Gravelord Greatsword Dance.

Eye of Death: 3 of these can be found in Catacombs, 3 can be purchased from Patches, and they can be dropped by Curse Frogs in the Depths or the Great Hollow.

Covenant: Chaos Servant - 25
Discover Chaos Servant covenant.

The Chaos Servant Convenant is actually hidden quite well if you don't know where to look. Its located just past Quelaag's Domain underneath the second bell.
Joining: You need to get to Quelaag's Domain and defeat her to access the second bell. Go to the lower room using the stairs or the hole in the floor, and hit the false wall. You will see an egg man, but do not attack him. Talk with him, then he will let you talk with the White Spider. If you don't have the Witch's Ring, you don't know what she says. Either way, speak with her to join the covenant. Upon joining you will receive the Chaos Great Fireball spell.

Ranks:
Give the White Spider 30 humanity to deepen your pact enough to earn the Chaos Firestorm spell.

Humanity: Defeat invaders, help a host defeat a boss, or farm the rats in the Depths or the tentacle monsters in the Tower Archives to obtain humanity. If you feel so inclined, most NPC's will drop humanity as well. The mini skeletons found in Tomb of Giants also drop humanity and have endless respawn.

Covenant: Path of the Dragon - 25
Discover Path of the Dragon covenant.

The Dragon Covenant is quite hard to get to as it requires traversing the Blighttown, Great Hollow, and Ash Lake.
Joining: In Blighttown go to the opposite end from Quelaag's Domain to a giant tree. Inside this tree keep hitting false walls and you will come into the Great Hollow. Make your way down to the bottom and outside into the Ash Lake. Next, dash across the sandbars all the way to the far end and speak with the Dragon to join. Upon joining you will receive a Dragon Eye, and Dragon Head Stone.

Ranks: Give the dragon lord 30 Dragon Scales to obtain the Dragon Stone. It will transform you into a dragon with small wings (that aren't usable)

Dragon Scale: Dragon scales are quite hard to come by. There are very few to be found in each playthrough unless you use the Dragon Eye to invade players that are currently carrying them.

Covenant: Darkwraith - 25
Discover Darkwraith covenant.

The Darkwraith Covenant requires a bit of work to join them over the course of the game. There are two ways to join them, and are located in the Abyss.
NOTE: You are required to obtain the Covenant of Artorias Ring from defeating Sif in the Darkroot Garden sealed forest.

NOTE: Joining this coventant will make Frampt leave Firelink Shrine for the rest of the playthrough.
Joining A: Do not speak with Frampt at all after obtaining the Lordvessel. Then speak with Ingward in New Londo the gain the key to the Abyss. Defeat the Four Lords and speak with Kaathe to join.

Joining B: BEFORE obtaining the Lordvessel, explore New Londo and kill Ingward to steal the key to the abyss. Drop in and defeat the Four Kings and speak with Kaathe to join.

Joining: Upon joining you will receive the Dark Hand. It can be used to drain humanity from other players when you or they invade.

Ranks: You need to get 10 victories against hosts you invade to obtain the Red Eye Orb. You need 30 victories to obtain the Dark Sword and Darkwraith Armor set.

Ranks: Instead of invading other players, you may offer an equivalent amount of humanity to gain the Dark Sword and Darkwraith Armor set.

BOSS ACHIEVEMENTS AND STRATEGIES

Defeat the Dark Sun Gwyndolin - 25
Defeat Dark Sun Gwyndolin, the Darkmoon God.

BOSS STRATEGY: The fight has you running down an infinitely long hallway dodging her attacks. Zig zag from pillar to pillar. If she casts Homing Soulmass, hide behind a pillar or roll under them. Her bigger spell cannot be blocked and will go through cover so be very careful. Keep running towards her until you are 2 pillars away and wait for her to stand up and use her bow. This is your best chance to run in and smack her a few times before she teleports away. Repeat until defeated. After you can run to the end of the hallway and open a chest containing Miracle: Sunlight Blade and another chest containing the Brass Armor set.

Defeat Crossbreed Priscilla - 25
Defeat Crossbreed Priscilla, the Lifehunter

Priscilla is located in the Painted World of Aremias. First thing you must do is return to the Undead Asylum back to the cell where you started the game and acquire the Strange Doll. Next, return to Anor Londo and inside the large building on the left on the ground floor you can find the large black and white painting. Examine the painting to enter the world. Find your way to the end and defeat Priscilla.

BOSS STRATEGY: Priscilla will almost always be invisible. The thing you must do in this fight is watch the ground for her footsteps, then swing at her where you think she is. If you hit her a few times she will become visible again for a short period of time. Once defeated you will get her soul and you can leave the Painted World.

Defeat Seath the Scaleless - 25
Defeat Seath the Scaleless, inheritor of souls.

Story related achievement. Seathe is located inside the Duke's Archives in Anor Londo. From the bonfire near the starting of Anor Londo, go into the left building (not crossing the bridge to the stairs) and follow the path through the hallway and up the lift at the end. Once you find your way to Seath, you will not be able to fight him because you must be defeated (yes you lose everything as per normal). You will then appear in a cell. Fight your way through the archives and find the Crystal Caves. He will be located inside there.

BOSS STRATEGY: Once the fight starts with Seath, run behind him and look for a cystal to smash. This will negate his health regeneration and allow you to kill him. After that he isn't very difficult, just take your time, but watch out for his AoE crystals attack because it will curse you if you stay in them too long. Aside from this, Seath isn't that hard of a boss.

Defeat Bed of Chaos - 25
Defeat the Soul Lord Bed of Chaos

Story related achievement. Located in the depths of the Demon's Ruins in the Lost Izalith, the Bed of Chaos is a multi-stage boss fight that will not reset. To get to the Lost Izalith you must go through Blighttown, Quelaag's Domain, Demon Ruins, into the Lost Izalith. You will require the Orange Charred Ring in order to survive down here because you must take long walks on lava. Without the ring you will die. You can obtain this ring from the Centipede Demon just before the Lost Izalith area.

BOSS STRATEGY: The Bed of Chaos is a 3 stage fight. When you first encounter it, you will notice glowing spots on either side and the center of him. Dodge his attacks and get into the glowing area and look for a small demon. Once struck it will move to the next stage and grow one large fire arm. Repeat this for the other side and another large arm will appear. The center is the hard part. The floor will start crumbling only leaving you specific areas to move on including right in front of it. But if you can spot it you need to jump straight at him to land below on a small pathway. Follow this up dodging his attacks to the end and strike the last demon to defeat it. Timing of the attacks at stage 3 is the key to your success.

Defeat the Four Kings - 25
Defeat the Four Kings, inheritors of souls.

Story related achievement. The Four Kings are located in the New Londo Ruins. In order to even face them, you must defeat the Great Wolf Sif and obtain the Ring of Abysswalking. Next, you need to drain the water in New Londo ruins and obtain the key to uncover the boss area. You will know the boss area because it is a broken tower with a fog door. Inside this tower appears to be nothing but a staircase down. Before reaching the end of the stairs, equip the Ring of Abysswalking and jump into the Oblivion. After falling for a while you will reach the bottom and find the Four Kings.

BOSS STRATEGY: There are a few ways to defeat the four kings. The best way to defeat them appears to out damage them. Once you reach the abyss, you will have to wait a few seconds before they appear, then charge at them and give it all you got. Their attacks are very powerful but can be blocked. They also have a strong grapple attack that you need to watch out for.

Defeat Gravelord Nito - 25
Defeat the Soul Lord Gravelord Nito.

Story related achievement. Gravelord Nito is located at the end of the Catacombs, and at the end of Tomb of Giants. It may be a hard process to get to him if you don't have the Dark Lantern. After defeating the Pinwheel boss in the catacombs, you will find a ladder that takes you into the Tomb of Giants and everything will go pitch black. Carefully follow the colored markers until you come across a man talking about treasure in a hole. Go up to the colored light and he will knock you in. Down here you will find the Dark Lantern. Equip it in a weapon slot, and hold the attack button it is equipped to and it will light up your surroundings. Now make your way lower into the Tomb until you come to a small walkway outside to another cave. Inside this cave will be full of pinhweels, but the door to Gravelord Nito is at the top.

BOSS STRATEGY: When you enter his room you will have to drop down a bit taking damage. Heal it up. He will begin the battle by summoning multiple small skeletons and giant skeletons. Kite them around and away from Nito, then rush in for a few hits. Back off when they start to come back or hold your guard button when you see him charging a dark attack and it's possible to be blocked. Rinse and repeat until Nito is defeated.

you dont purchase from them, the guide is a bit misleading...

these are the tentacled creatures in Duke's Archive after you get killed by Seath and end up in jail. they will be going up and down the stairs looking for you when you escape. Kill them all and go to the bottom, there should be 2 in a large cell room. Kill them and they will drop these.

This is also a great place to grind souls and miracles. 12,000 each time. Start at the bonfire work your way down and kill everything. You will also get several humanity in the process from the Piscacas. Just be careful when they raise their heads with all their tentacles and do their grab move.

Umm I accidentally killed the cleric after he gave me the copper coin. So I can't join the first covenant. You should put that not to do it, so others donlt make the mistake I did

Thanks for this guide. Plan on getting all the Gamerscore soon. Really easy game once you get through the 1st playthrough and know where to go.

EDIT: Just finished all the achievements. A lot of the guide is wrong for the spells achievements, especially the covenant stuff (you need nowhere close to some of the ranks in the guide). I recommend using wikis with the guide for a much faster 1k.

For Gwyndolin, if you are a pyromancer I find the only real solution to beating him is to constantly zig zag toward him, rolling under the multiple magic projectiles and dodging the rest of his attacks completely. When you reach him you should use Combustion or Greater Combustion as it has a very short cast time and you can sometimes get off 2-3 before he manages to teleport again. Repeat until he is dead.

To get the Dark Ember, you must head to the basement with all the wheel skeletons. To the left of the ray of light thats shining in, is a fake wall. Bash it down and turn right and follow that path to get a key. When you head into the courtyard from the bonfire, the door to use the key on is on the right. Open the door, head up until you can take a left, kill some Engorged Zombies and get your ember.

Souvenirs of Reprisals can also be farmed off the Harpys in the Painting world.

Very large ember is in Demon Ruins. As you reach the first bonfire pass the Capra demons and begin heading down the stairs that has snakes on it, their is a path to the left blocked by 2 taurus demons. Head that way and kill them, the chest that contains that ember is down that path and guarded by 4 of those caterpillars.

White Titanite Slab is found in the tomb of the giants. Hard to describe this one...its past all the pinwheel servants and skeleton babies though.

Bosses/dragons where tails need to be removed for rare weapons - Priscilla(Priscillas Dagger), Hellkite(Drake Sword), Seath(Moonlight Greatsword), Ancient Dragon(Dragon Greatsword), gaping dragon(Dragon king greataxe)

Plus I'm pretty sure all slabs are dropped by enemies...just really rare. I know for a fact the blues one can be dropped by the crystal butterflies so even if you miss a slab it should be possible in 2 1/2 playthroughs.

Nice guide, but reading it has made me decide not to 1000 this game, way too much grinding for my tastes.

You can get those off the knights at the end of the game. Just pump your item discovery stat and farm them until you get them. I got all the black knight weapons I was missing this way.

I must have been lucky, Black Knight Sword dropped for me from the first Black Knight you encounter in the Undead Burg (before the Taurus/Havel Tower). I have been using it since and upped it to +3, like it more than Drake Sword

Hello, playing this game on the PS3 but I wanted to ask this on xbox forum also, just assuming the trophy system is the same as achievements.

I collected all pyromancies across 2 characters and got the trophy.

I collected all sorcery across 2 characters (one is missing white dragon breath, the other one is missing hush) and I got the trophy.

Can I go ahead and collect the miracles across 2 characters? This is important for my planning, because I have already some souvenir of reprisal collected with one (my PvP build) for darkmoon blade, and the sunbro covenant Gwyn soul miracle on the other (PvE build)...

Thanks

Can I upgrade my Eagle Shield +14 to +15 and earn the Strongest Weapon achievement?

EDIT: Yes, I can.

Am I correct assuming there's no point in ranking up the Path of the Dragon covenant? Are there any other covenants in which ranking up is irrelevant for Gamerscore?
