Completion Tips from Site's first 1000 earner

I took this on a business trip (so my card doesn't reflect my claim of having 1000 points... but I have no reason to lie).

Anyway, the game is slightly more involved than Open Season, is equally fun, IMO, and will take you about six hours to get 1000 points.

Follow my strategy here to do the game as quickly as possible.

First off, just play through the game. Don't replay levels to earn both shells if you don't have to. Eventually, and I mean by eventually - is once you get through all of the levels you will have acquired a good enough technique to play through again and complete the additional tasks required to win shells and find the shiney awards.

Some levels are a little harder than others, but there's nothing here that isn't doable.

Some folks are saying that getting all 100 awards is hard- that is lazy speak. Getting 100 awards in this game is easier than almost any achievement on any game. Finding 100 awards is about the equivalant difficulty of finding 200 orbs in crackdown. It may take a few run throughs- but they aren't all that hidden.

There is an achievement "guide" posted in the forums- although I am inclined to say that it doesn't offer anything insightful because the achieves are straightforward and nothing short of a map will truly help you.

Do consider these tips for high scores:

do jumps off of the waves when there are no ramps or bonuses.

save your "Y" intiated super stunt mode for when you have the 3x or 5x bonus multiplier. By doing this you can usually get off two 9,000 or 15,000 tricks (just do a high jump hit Y and land the trick).

PM me for help, if necessary.

When is xRogue5x going to post here? He's the site's first 1K earner.

Hmm, maybe you forgot to read my post all the way through before you decided to pick a fight with your ridiculous post.

I finished the game on June 2 while I was away on business. The tips I gave are good tips.

But you just have to be a jerk about it.

ive found it the easiest so far to go thru each level and get the high scores first than go back a 2nd time and or 3rd to get your golfers.

and ive just completed the game my first complete 1k and 3rd on the site from the leaderboards.

The game really doesn't seem to hard. I'll give it a try this weekend and hopefully finish it with your tips.

I don't know when he is going to post here, but xRogue 5x was telling me that the game was very linear and that the achievements were extremely easy to get.

I got the full thou in around 6hs

I replayed every "mission" to get everything before moving onto the next one, so the items positions would still be on my mind

found the game interesting, too bad there is only surfing (hence the title)

I played this last night and followed these tips. Worked great and was able to get 750 GS in 3 hours. I'll get the rest tonight.

Just finished the game. I would say it took me collectively 5 hours to get the full 1000. My only advice is play the game all the way through. Then go back for all the Shells. Then go back for all the surf Idols. Concentrate on one thing each level or you'll find yourself falling short and it will take you longer. Another tip for finding the idols is breaking through all the wooden walls and getting high in the air off the waves so you can see the map and the idols.

Hope this helped.

I have to completely and respectfully disagree with the original poster's advice. I completed this game last night after working on it for a couple of nights, or roughly 5-6 hours of playing.

IMHO, you should play through a level until you've completed everything in it, with the only exception being if you're still missing 1 or 2 surf idols if their location is still unknown after a few playthroughs.

Especially in the case of surf idols, if you know where they are but don't have them yet, go back and play until you get them; they are a bitch to come back and get later on, pardon my French.

Playing through a level a few times will help develop the "technique" the original poster spoke of just as well as what he suggested.

It's all a question of personal taste, but for me, leaving nothing behind if you can help it is the best strategy.

I agree because if you only go through the level once but u saw a bunch of the idols just missed them, the next time you go through that level will be after you complete the game and you will probably forget where most of them are in your second playthrough. If you do the level until you get everything in it the level is fresh in your head and you will have got most of the shells and idols after your 2nd - 3rd time playing it.
