Operation Flashpoint is rather different compared to most first person shooting games. This isn't your typical run and gun shooting game, you will need to hone your skills and learn military tactics before you master this game. Each weapon, load-out and environment is different from the next. I recommend that you find a Co-Op partner(s), before starting the game. You will find working as a team with human players will help you earn more victory's, rather than spending hours on each level with the AI.

If you do not have a Co-Op partner(s) for this game the AI will work in your favor. They aren't always the best teammates, and they ignore a lot of your commands, but just keep trying. Try out different tactics if the current ones are casing the AI to make stupid decisions. Don't be surprised if your AI decides to turn into Rambo or stand still in the middle of a firefight, that seems to be the standard for the AI in this game. You will want to use the order menu to gain the upper hand, and control your squad to avoid their demise most of the time.

Achievement Bugs:

It has been reported some achievements won't unlock while in Co-op, and will unlock at random for certain players. If you complete an objective, and are waiting to re-spawn from death you will not earn the achievement for that objective.

There is no real reason why some achievements do not unlock. If you complete a level and fail to be rewarded with that missions achievement, try to play through again on your own with the AI.

All achievements will mostly unlock in Co-Op play, but you may need to do them more than once to gain the achievement due to glitches. These issues may be resolved at a later date with a patch.

The achievements are straightforward enough, you complete missions, and other objectives that will earn you most if not all of the achievements. Check through the mission specific achievements to find out what side objective/achievements you can earn while in each level. Most of them you will miss unless you know what to do, and how to achieve them.

Expansion Mission Codes:
You may want to start off entering these codes when you get the game, or you can leave them until later on. There are no achievements tied to these missions, but they add a few extra side missions to the game.

To enter the following codes, go to the extras menu, and then select bonus codes.

AmbushU454 - Ambush
CloseQ8M3 - Close Quarters
StrongM577 - Coastal Stronghold
OFPWEB2 - Debris Field
OFPWEB1 - Encampment
RaidT18Z - Night Raid

Play-through 1: Normal
Before you start out decide if you want to do this alone or with a Co-Op partner(s). It doesn't matter how you do the game, alone or with a Co-Op partner(s). If you choose to play with a partner(s), and want to progress you will need to keep playing with the same host.

As you start out everything may seem quite difficult, and you may keep dying or have a hard time understanding what's going on. Play through the first training mission a few times to help you understand the game. This mission will really help you if you’re struggling to get the hang of the controls. This isn't a typical shooting game so running into a group of enemies won't get you far, so just stay with your crew and take your time, and you should be fine.

On this play through you will also be able to complete miscellaneous objectives to earn extra achievements. Some can be a little difficult so take your time, and you can always come back later to earn the achievements you missed through the mission select option.

Playthrough 2: Hardcore
By this point I would have expected you to run through the game at least once on Normal. If you have played through the game at least once, you should be familiar with each mission, and know what to expect. You won't have a HUD, and you will not know if an enemy has been incapacitated or how much ammo you have. Take it slow, and pay attention, and if you become overwhelmed, fallback to a safe area where you can rethink your plan of action.

You can find tips on how to survive listed under the "Dragon Rising - Hardcore" achievement. There is no real direct way to tackle this game or difficulty, as everyone will use their own tactics to play through the game in their own way.

This is the best way to play the game, but be sure to find someone your comfortable playing with. There is an achievement for using the field dressing on a wounded Co-Op player so be aware of wounded team mates, and try to heal them as often as you can. All the achievements will unlock while playing online and with your Co-Op partner(s).

The one down side to playing with a Co-Op partner(s) is you need to play with the same host each time to carry on with your progress in the mission. The game wil only save this information on your Co-op partner's console. You will not be able to progress without them on the missions that you and your partner have played together.

A microphone is rather important while playing with other players if you do not communicate with your follow Co-op players you may not do so well. Just remember pressing the medic button repetitively may not get a response, but asking for help over a microphone will.

All side mission/objective achievements will unlocked for everyone who is playing unless it's directed at the squad leader only. Examples are: calling in an Air-strike, only the leader may call in Air-strikes and Artillery. If the objective is shoot down a helicopter, everyone will earn that achievement once the objective is completed.

Some achievements can only be unlocked through multiplayer. These game modes are there for fun, rather than for earning achievements, but there are two that you will be able to unlocked "Low Blow" and "The Sky is Falling".

The game itself is fairly hard, and you will need to keep trying to make your way through it. If you manage to survive the war, and battle your way though to victory, congratulations on a job well done.
