Achievements seem a little too difficult

Wow, if you guys have been seeing the demo and the producers are talking. So far they've mentioned an achievement for beating hardcore mode (man, I can do it but it's gonna be a bitch) and killing EVERY single person in the game. Really hope the second was just a suggestion and not official.

Second will be impossible with respawning enemies. If you don't have resapwning enemies, there could be problems with the economy being tough. It would really add a scrounging mentality. At some point, you would run out of resources. Especially if you need to drink water that isn't free.

I'm hoping hardcore isn't as bad as everyone seems to think it will be. It doesn't seem much different than the RPGs back in the day (like Ultima Underworld) where you had to eat and drink at various times and every damn thing you picked up had weight to it.

Screw both of those. I'm not going to play a mode that promotes micromanagement of my inventory while I'm slowly dying. As for the kill every character in the game, how fucking pointless. Could you imagine if there was several hundred UPCs that once talked to spawned unique UPCs that won't show up unless you talk to the original UPC and wouldn't spawn if you killed them. No thanks. I don't want to have to play through the game multiple times with a personal vendetta against all the characters.

I think it excludes enemies that are respawnable. Like the people in citys and stuff. I think he said there are 210 people in this game and all can die except 1.

i think he said over 2000 and all except one can be killed...which is AMAZING!!!

also the hardcore mode might be like realistic mode on left 4 dead 2, you might still be able to play on easy, normal etc

If there's 2000 people to kill.. I don't think that would be possible. Especially taking into consideration the size of the wasteland, it would take forever... 210 people is a bit more reasonable, but still really annoying. I guess that explains why they said it'll take "100s of hours" to complete though.

If it is true, I'm sure some hardcore player out there will find a way. If I learned anything from playing FFXI for over 5 years, is that nothing is impossible. It may just take a long-ass time to get thru it tho!

Win. haha, i guess im the only person that likes this... I love the realism they are adding to this game. I thought that was the one thing that Fallout 3 was missing.

And ofc it wont include respawnable enemies.. but to do it with normal NPCs, all that would need to be done is use the like/dislike thing to side with a group of people that will like you if you kill everyone else, then after killing everyone else, kill the ones you sided with.

I'm actually really looking forward to the hardcore mode, it might make it feel a little more like Stalker.

(In my mind I've somehow likened it to Fallout 3 is an arcade RPG and Stalker is a more sort of simulator. Like Forza would be Stalker, Need For Speed would be Fallout 3).
Not that I don't really, really like Fallout 3.

Me too. I always enjoyed games that added a little realism to the mix. It's not as if it doesn't have roots in the series, either. I mean way back when Wasteland first came out you couldn't go into the desert without a canteen. It's there for those who want the challenge and can be turned off for those who don't. I kind of like the idea.

I hope the achievements are hard. I welcome hard cheevos as long as they aren't multiplayer oriented. I would love to have to play the game on a harder difficulty for one achievement. Just as much as I loved playing NG2 with every weapon for a measly 5 pts per run.

I might go for the realism achievement, more so out of curiosity. As for killing every character... PASS unless it is the only achievement I am missing (such as Mile High Club in CoD4

Good achievements are a bonus, but they won't affect my opinion of a game. A true Fallout fan will just enjoy it for what it is and I have to say hardcore mode sounds awesome.

Hardcore mode will be great if it doesn't affect AI difficulty. I'd sure play it on my second playthrough, once I knew the game and just focused on the story.

I agree with you but I don't like putting so much extra time into it... I play games for the expirience it brings you not the ability to beat it or not

Hopefully someone will find a glicth that we can exploit, beating in hardcore isnt just extra damage, its so Life-sim, I don't want to do it, sometimes in fallout 3 i would keep drinking water to get my health up but that was annoying.

THIS times a million.

Hardcore mode will def. make things interesting while playing. I'm looking forward to it! And I spent the majority of my first Fallout 3 play-through trying to kill every person I could, so if there is an achievement for wasting everyone I am so there. ;P

IMO anything Fallout = win, so I'm not going to complain, haha.

thank you! i love the fact that they are making it more realistic that is one thing that makes fallout 3 easy as hell is that you just use a stimpak and ur healed instantly and it seems like your a zombie causwe u dont eat or drink.... frankly ammo having weight makes sense too i mean that is a shitload and half of ammo you carry with you all the time so ya i like hardcore mode and thwe kill everyone cheevo seems like its a sort of finding x amount of intel cheevos is cod 4 so that actually seems fun

I plan to ONLY play on hardcore mode. One of the things that was kind of annoying to me in F3 was the fact that all the water/food/bloodpacks/etc were meaningless in the game. hell, towards the end i barely even needed stimpacks.

Surviving in the wasteland should feel like....well...'surviving!'. Not just wandering around and killing things with relative ease.

..but I can see how my viewpoint isn't the popular one...but this is why they made it an option.

True dat, I had over 130 towards the end of my game. I used them in the first section of the game before you level up, but there comes a stage when you barely touch them, especially with all the perks that decreased damage, doubled stimpack effect etc..
