Welcome to Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 the next installment in the Dynasty Warriors Gundam franchise. In the previous game there was alot of hassle in getting the "All Missions Cleared" achievement, having to have SPECIFIC friendship statuses with other pilots however all that as changed which as made the difficulty relatively easier. The only thing that really makes this game a 7/10 is the amount of time it takes to raise your relations and unlock certain collection missions and then the dreadful last mission of the game.

Tutorial (New Features):

When you select "New Game" you will go through a opening cinematic and then you will start 2 tutorial missions; one with Setsuna F. Seiei in the 00 Raiser and then next with Amuro Ray in the Nu Gundam afterwards you will be available to start the regular Story mode. Heres a quick run through of all the new features to this version of the game that you might want to keep in mind as they may be very helpful in tougher missions:
  • Partner Strikes: Partner Strikes are assist takes by the partner you have assigned to your point, when your PS gauge on the right is filled up you can press to perform the partner strike, there are different types of partner strikes you just have to use them all and find out
  • Morale Respawn: You will now be able to be shot down and come back to the field depending on the amount of morale gauge you have, this may not be needed until the harder missions.
  • HP Regeneration: You now have time to recover a certain amount of the damage you take in battle, the HP you are able to recover will be indicated in purple
  • Emergency Dash: By pressing at the right moment you can dash away from an incoming attack and avoid damage
  • Induced Explosion: Whenever you shot down a mobile suit it will cause a pink explosion, the explosion will damage any other grunt around it, the more shot downs you do at once the more you could destroy just from the induced explosions
  • Bases: Bases on the field can now have special effects, all of which can give you the upper hand in battle, for a list of the bases please refer to this link: Special Bases
Helpful Links:

These links are purely for importers who got the game early and cannot read the japanese characters of the game, these links supply you with translations to character skills, MS attachments and a mission list with requires to help you unlock them:
Story Mode:

There are four different chapters to the story mode of the game, those chapters are:
  • Those Who Understand Each Other
  • Those Who Doubt Each Other
  • Those Who Disagree With Each Other
  • Those Who Fight Each Other
For this step you simply want to complete all the missions that correlate with the main story, the reason being is because you will unlock the rest of the playable characters into your relation chart this way which will give you progression toward your relation chart much quicker then if they werent already in your relation chart. During this step you may also want to increase your tech level to 10 and complete as many missions as you can with one character to raise them to level 50. During this step you will be aiming primarily on the following achievements:
  • Revolutionary
  • Demon of the Lab
  • Instructor from Hell

Story Mode (Level Grinding):

During this step you will be getting on the licenses for "Licensed to Ride".

Whats going to happen first is that you will complete all and all missions that you can until you have no more available for you to play, afterwards you are going to work towards your "Licensed to Ride", which should build relations up with the characters you chose as your partner strike ally. Ideally you want everyone to be at least at level 4 relation or higher by this point, if that is not the case complete some friendship mission until you have reached this point. If you havent already finished your achievements for Online Mode you may want to right now, the use of a pilot aides in their relation status even in online mode so this is a good way to take out two birds with one stone. While doing it this way you want to check for new mission available every now and then to indicate if that character is ready to make the jump from level 4 to 5, if so then start selecting another character to work on in online mode. After you have finished online mode you can work on your collection missions you will probably need to unlock as well as any relations you have leftover.

Story Mode (Mission Grinding):

You will be taking out the rest of your missions for "True Gundam Dynasty Warrior", clearing out all your history missions, finishing your relation chart for "Purebred Innovator", here are some links to help you narrow down the missions you need as well as know the requires to play them:
When working on the missions that require normal launches you can choose pilots you need at level 5 as reach launch counts towards their progress, and since you will be dying during these missions it hastens the progression. During collection missions that require 1000 shot downs it is advised you use your stronger pilots (preferably a level 50 pilot) to avoid wasting time. After all this is done you should be ready to take on the final mission for "True Dynasty Warriors Gundam". This will take ALOT of grinding so prepare yourself, the primary achievements you will be getting during this step are as follow:
  • Purebred Innovator
  • True Gundam Dynasty Warrior
  • Tales of Dark History
  • Licensed to Ride

Online Mode:

This step can be done at any time however this step may be useful for raising relations toward "Purebred Innovator" . During this step you only have to get 1000 shot downs and 100 co-op missions played. Simply follow the instructions under the achievements descriptions. You will earn the following achievements during this step:
  • Avenger
  • Fierce Avenger
  • Online Play 20
  • Online Play 100

Conclusion:

Overall the game is a huge improvement from the last, with the hassle of the friendship levels toned down for us making it alot easier to clear all the missions then before, the only thing that could be considered hard in this game is the final mission which can be made easier if you follow the instructions in the guide.

Mobile Suit Collector 20
Complete the Mobile Suit gallery

To complete the mobile suit gallery you will have to face each mobile suit in battle or see them in battle at least once for it to register in your gallery. The hardest Mobile Suits to unlock will probably be the Dark Gundam Mobile armor and the Musha Gundams

Dark Gundam can easily be seened playing through online co-op missions or in one of the final Challenge missions and The Musha Gundams are apart of those final Challenge missions

Sound Collector 20
Complete the BGM gallery

BGM is given to you as you listen to for the first time in a missions, the game has its own original soundtrack as well as audio each individual Gundam series. Some BGM appear more often then others, to hear special BGM from the series you must play as that character alot and it will randomly play at some point, the BGM could also play against an opponent from that series

The best way however is to wait until you the history missions, before you finish each one they are bound to give you BGM from that series

Purebred Innovator 60
Friendship level of all characters reaches level 5

Friendship works differently in this game then it did in the previous version of the game. Once you go up a level with a character they cannot go down, you can only improve relations with your allies never the other way around. While completing all of the Story mode mission you will need to unlock the characters into your relation chart, to do so you must play a mission or two with them during story mode, this is also how you increase relations with them overtime.
  • Level 1: At this level you need to play more missions with them as your ally, this is the only way to improve relations with them at this level
  • Level 2: At this level you are now able to use them as partners in your missions for partner strike attacks which makes it easier for you to raise relations with them
  • Level 3: At this level they are now a playable character for the "Pilot Gatherer" achievement. You can now earn increase they're relation by playing as them in missions. The fastest way is to play an online co-op mission and simply die, it will count as a mission played with them
  • Level 4 : At this level they gain they're own special in battle ability, after gaining enough relation with them you will play a mission in the "Friendship Mission" category which relates to that character, after completing that mission they will reach Level 5

There is one person on the relation chart you must spend a little time working on, Knight Gundam. After completing the story missions you will unlock Challenge Missions, in those challenge missions Knight Gundam will join your relation chart however even after playing all the available Challenge missions he may not ever be level just yet. You have to load up friendship missions and keep reloading it over and over again until you see him as an ally, once you do instantly start the mission and complete it and repeat until he is level 3 and a playable character, then you just want to continue playing as him to raise his relation up from there. His relationship mission will appear in a special mission category that can only be selected when he is the selected character.

There are also special characters known as Operators whose relation level will increase through terminal messages as you progress to raise the relation of other characters as well as finishing up missions like the history missions

Tips to increasing relation:
  • Use characters you need increase relations for your partner strike and use the partner strike as many times as you can, it helps build there relation
  • Simply starting a mission with a character and ending it by a game over will increase their relation. Look under "Online Play 100" for more details
  • When working on your "Licensed to Ride" utilize the friendship missions to help build relations while working on a separate achievement

You can check your relation status in the relation chart under Player Record

Character Collector 20
Complete the character gallery

To complete the character gallery you must view that character in any conversation or in any mission. A majority of the cast can easily be viewed through story mode however there are alternate costumes and special characters that can only be viewed after completing certain history missions such as:
  • Amuro Ray (Mobile Suit Gundam)
  • Amuro Ray (Mobile Suit Z Gundam)
  • Char Aznable (Mobile Suit Gundam)
  • Char Aznable (Movile Suit Z Gundam)
  • Haman Karn (Alternate Costume)
  • Bask Om

Movie Collector 20
Complete the movie gallery

The movie gallery can be completed by finishing story mode, history missions and the final challenge mode missions. There is also an unlockable movie in Knight Gundams special missions, after completing that mission you will get the last movie as well as have Knight Gundams relation raise to level 5

Avenger 20
Shoot down more than 100 enemies online

Refer to "Fierce Avenger" for more information

Fierce Avenger 30
Shoot down more than 1,000 enemies online

You will probably unlock this while going for the "Online Play 100" achievement. The fields dont have as many grunts as regular single player mode missions, if you are playing co-op with a friends try taking turns or if you are playing with randoms try making it to the field first and get your kills before they do

Online Play 20 20
Play online more than 20 times

Please refer to "Online Play 100" for more information

Online Play 100 30
Play online more than 100 times

For this you MUST play online with another player online, you can start missions up by pressing at the screen but it will not count towards this achievement. When you do get a partner you can play through the mission normally (which can get you alot of gold that benefits you for Story mode) or you can make the process faster by letting yourselves get killed and it will count as a mission played. If you intend on doing it that way select the mission with the two Psycho Gundams and just let them destroy you and your boosting partner, pick characters that you need to build relations with for your "Purebred Innovator" and check every so often in the story mode missions for a new mission to pop up indicating you are done with that character

Revolutionary 30
Clear all story missions

The story missions are divided into 4 separate chapters or groups of pilots.
  • Those Who Understand Each Other
  • Those Who Doubt Each Other
  • Those Who Disagree With Each Other
  • Those Who Fight Each Other
The story mode missions are unlocked through terminal messages after every few story missions completed, some missions require the use of another character from that same group so whenever you are feeling stuck as far as the story goes just look around through other pilots of that group and see if you can continue on with them. Besides that nothing else should prevent you from playing these missions from the very start

True Gundam Dynasty Warrior 70
Clear all missions

There are many missions to play just like in the previous game however all of them unlock according to character relations, because relations can never go down there arent any missions at require specific relation statuses to unlock and their are some missions you will have to go out of your way to unlock. There are many mission modes you must play through such as
  • Story Missions
  • Friendship Missions
  • Relation Missions
  • History Missions
  • Collection Missions
  • Challenge Missions
  • Skill Unlocking Missions

and much more. The more time consuming missions are the collection missions which require you to get 1000 shot downs with a weak MS as well as start a mission with various other types of mobile suits, weak or strong. For the missions that require x amount of launches you can simply start up a mission with a Mobile Armor right from the start on HARD and let it kill you, it will count towards the progression of unlocking the mission

The biggest trouble in regards to this will be the challenge mode missions which require you to play on HARD, some missions with any mobile suit and some where you must play with weak mobile suits like a normal GM or Zaku. Before attempting any missions such as those you may want to develop a weak mobile suit with a level 4 blueprint and customize its attack, defense and armor statistics are high as you can. These missions are no joke as you can die in a matter of two hits and because you have an army of suits surrounding you you will have to deal with multiple attacks are every side if you're by yourself.

Recommended Skill Attachments:
  • ハードストライク (Hard Strike)
  • ハーモナイザー (Harmonizer)
  • ショックアブソーバー (Shock Absorber)
  • Iフィールド機能 (I-Field Function)

Hard strike will give you a damage increase randomly when doing normal melee attacks and every bit of damage counts. Harmonizer will increase the rate in which the Partner Strike gauge increases which could prove to be a huge amount of help especially during the very last mission. Shock Absorber increases the rate your SP gauge increases whenever you get hit, most of the time you will be on the edge of dying when are getting hit however if it fills your SP gauge you could use it to escape from the continuous attack as well as get some damage out. I-Field Function reduces the amount of damage from projectiles ... it may not seem like much in every other mission however it will be very handy in the last mission of the game where every hit is a fatal blow to your MS.

Recommended Character Skills:
  • エースパイロット (Ace Pilot)
  • 明鏡止水 (Serene Mind)
  • ムーンレイス (Moonrace)

Ace Pilot gives you a 10% Attack and Defense increase throughout the rest of the mission for every 100 shot downs, though it may be hard to get to 100 the first time as soon as you start being able to kill them quicker then this skill with give you as much more of a stat increase in the long run. Serene Mind constantly increases your SP gauge which is a definite must later for the final mission which can be viewed below. Moonrace much like Ace Pilot gives you a boost after every x number of shot downs, for every 50 shot downs you get a temporary stat boost

True Dynasty Warrior Gundam (Final Mission) Strategy:

This mission is the bane of this games existence, you start off with only 1 field, a stupid A.I ally, you have multiple Aces coming at you, anything that hits you could do AT LEAST 1/3 of your health and thats assuming you maxed out the pilot and the MS defense and armor. Remember that Interim Save is your best friend during this mission

Recommended MS: Knight Gundam
His insanely overpowered Charge 3 attack when under his Musou transformation is probably the best thing you could ask for, the attack will easily refill your SP gauge by the time your transformation is up and you will have shot down all grunts in your way.

Recommended Partner Strike: Duo Maxwell (Deathscythe Gundam)

Duo Maxwell is a good partner strike to have when trying to escape attacks you cant get out of, Duo will come out and spin Deathscythes scythe and it will pull any enemies surrounding him inside giving you a chance to escape.

Heres how the mission layout always starts:

Notice how there is an enemy catapult pointing straight for your main base. One thing to keep in mind when playing this mission, that base WILL fall do not try to protect it. Your Ally will run straight for the enemy main base so hes a lost cause. What you want to do is run around the map taking over fields while avoiding enemy aces, if you see an enemy ace then RUN without asking any questions. Taking over the bases and kill the grunts will help build up the amount of shotdowns you have for the Ace Pilot skill.

At the start of the mission you want to proceed downward and take over the Outpost Base. As you run around the field your partner gauge will go up and if you do find yourself in a situation where you are about to get hit by an enemy ace you can use your partner strike to escape. Next you want to take over the Morale Station that is indicated by the wrench, this field slowly recovers the enemies morale and because each shot down and field gain barely hits their morale as is then you might want to take this over to prevent further problems.

After you have gotten those two out of the way just keep running around the map taking over bases, avoid all aces at all costs, wait until the enemy aces leave a field far enough for you to dash in their and take it over. Once you have depleted the enemies morale low enough and have accumulated at least over 1000 shot downs go into the enemy main base and try to finish the mission as quickly as possible before the other enemy aces can catch up to you, they will be trying to take over any fields in their way before making it to the main base so you will have time

Tales of Dark History 30
Clear all history missions

History missions are missions where you relive moments and battles from the original gundam series that each gundam and pilot originated from. History missions all usually unlock in accordance to the amount of history missions you have already completed and by the relation level you have with the pilots from that series. Look under each individual history missions achievement for more details. This will unlock after you receive and read the a terminal message for completing all the history missions

Leader of Humanity 20
Completely finish either of the story missions "Those Who Understand" or "Those Who Fight."

It would be faster to complete this with "Those Who Understand" at the start of the game their are no members of "Those Who Fight" playable so playing through "Those Who Understand" is the faster option. The following characters available at the start for "Those Who Understand" are:
  • Amuro Ray
  • Setsuna F. Seiei
  • Kou Uraki

If you decide you want to use a different character you will have to wait until you unlock them through story mode progression

Demon of the Lab 30
Reach tech level 10 in the Mobile Suit lab

Your Tech Level in the Mobile Suit Lab increases everytime you do a Mobile Suit development or when you customize one of your developed mobile suits. This many take quite a bit of time and gold to reach level 10 but its well worth it, i advise trying to get to a tech level of 10 ASAP. The higher your tech level is the better stat upgrades you will get when you do customization and in the post-game statistics whenever you get mobile suit blueprints as level 10 you will start to get alot of level 3 and 4 blueprints which are very much needed for the "Challenge Missions"

Pilot Gatherer 60
Unlock all playable characters

To unlock playable characters you will first have to unlock them into your relation chart and when build up your relations with them through the methods described under "Purebred Innovator". Once all of the pilots of have level 3 then this achievement will unlock. In character select there will be however one blank spot that isn't required for this achievement, that character is Knight Gundam

Mobile Suit Gatherer 60
Unlock all playable Mobile Suits

To unlock playable Mobile Suits you must destroy them in battle and hope you get the blueprint for that suit in the postgame statistics, afterwards you must go to the Mobile Suit Lab and develop each of them. There are 3 suits however that will take a while before you can develop those are
  1. Musha Gundam
  2. Musha Gundam Mk II
  3. Knight Gundam

Knight Gundam
Knight Gundam will finally become playable as soon as you finish the true ending fight with him at the end of the game. Knight Gundam is a very difficult opponent even on the easiest difficulty, he has such a longer range with his sword and he can use the fire from his Musou normally without the need of musou and one hit from that could kill you, be patient and wait for openings, keep your guard up with until you see an opening to attack, if you dont have any musou try using level 5 charge attacks ()

Musha Gundam I & II
After you complete the true ending you will be able to play the challenge missions which is basically a 3 way war between Knight Gundam and the Two Musha Gundams. After completing all of your Challenge missions the Musha Gundams should become playable

Instructor from Hell 30
Raise any one character's pilot level to 50

A character can get experience to level up in multiple ways, here are the following ways:
  • For completing a mission, theres a preset amount of points you get for completing certain missions
  • The amount of Aces, Shot downs, Fields Gained, the Time it took to finish the mission and any factors given in the post game statistics
  • In the shop, theres a Training option that lets you pay for experience which is not recommended
There is also a good skill known as パイロットセンス (Pilot Sense) which increases the amount of EXP you get. Level 50 will surely come naturally so long as you stick to one pilot for a good amount of time, try picking a pilot you like so at least its worth the grind.

Licensed to Ride 30
Obtain all licenses

To obtain the license to each Mobile Suit you need to play as the character the suit belongs to for at least 5 missions and then their suit will have a license available for purchase in shop for 30,000 on average. Doing this while raising the relation of another character as your partner is a good way to speed up the progress toward "Purebred Innnovator". The Mobile Suits whose licenses you must obtain can be viewed in the Mobile Suit Gallery in your options, it is all the Mobile Suits up until the Musha Gundams, Knight Gundam and the Mass Produced MS.

You can check the licenses you current have under Player Record

Mmm... You said something about a North American version, I know the chances are higher it'll have a worldwide release, but yesterday on wikipedia.org, There was TBA 2011, and now it only has the Japan release date. So I'm wondering could it be... That I'm screwed? Oh by the way, is the grinding as high as in the previous version(s)? I've got 1K in both of them, but seriously the second one was such a grind

I see no reason why the game shouldnt come to the US, there will probably be ALOT of licensing issues but it should come to the US in due time. Grinding isnt as high, missions in the second game require SPECIFIC friendship statuses which was such a hassle, in this game missions unlock according to the relation status you have with each character and because that chart can only go up its just a matter of how long itll take you to get them all up

I wish I knew what all the missions said, I've been playing for 70 hours and still have not unlocked any history missions achievements. I must be doing something wrong.

Ahaha i know how you feel, theres some that have mission requirements LISTED on it ... but for the love of god i cant read any of it. You should already have unlocked some by now ... The history missions unlock depending on your relation with the characters from that series and then most History missions dont unlock until finishing the Gundam Z Missions and a mission "All Hail Zeon" or something of that sort

Well I have been playing everything on easy so that might be why I'm not unlocking anything. I'm going though everything on hard again so I don't miss anything.

And even though I'm not getting any achievements, I'm still having a blast playing this game. I like it much more than part 2.

Im currently at a point where no missions are unlocking for me, some with requirements i cant read so im just grinding out my licenses and also getting alot of my relations out of the way at the same time and by the time i finish it hopefully ill have more missions available

I see, good luck with that. I have to ask you since you are playing on the ps3, right? Is the online mode region locked or can you play co-op with anyone?

Lmao, how in the world can you be "God tier" in a hack-n-slash game?? I mean, sure it requires some amount of skill and some suits are more broken than others, but there's nothing too technical when it comes to KOEI's Warriors games :P The most you'd ever have to plan out is a slight bit of timing to chain together some basic attack strings into your SP attack.

Anywho, I can't wait for the US release, gonna play the crap out of this game. 75+ hours in DWG2 and I'm not even near the 1k yet, highly doubt I'll get there but I definitely played my money's worth.

Honestly, I think this game should have more "Shoot down [X number] of enemy suits" achievements. What Gundam fan wouldn't want to mindlessly grind those? Going around in their favorite Gundams blowing stuff up...

I dont know but Japanese people do it, remember Daigo man ...

Ahaha yeah that US release isnt going to happen probably until Summer or Fall 2011 from the looks of it. You should take that time to finish your 1000 in DWG2 buddy

DWG1 did that however it was too much of a grind which is probably why they left it at the two

Yup, Deathscythe Hell is indeed in this game. It's the TV version though (the one that has 4 "wings" when the cloak opens up), not the Endless Waltz version.

Like i said, look in your Mobile Suit Gallery for the mobile suits you still need and compare them to the Mobile Suits you can pick with any other pilot such as Amuro or Kamille. As for the missions you are missing they are probably collection missions, look at the link at the end of the guide for the list of missions and theyre requirements, look at the japanese version as well to compare to your list to see what you are missing and what you already have

Hi,
I have obtained all the offline achievements apart from the final True Gundam Dynasty Warrior. I can see the final mission True Dynasty Warrior Gundam, but it is grayed out. Do you know what I have to do to enable it?

You have to complete every other mission to unlock it. Do you have any other sections on your main pilots that doesnt say "complete" yet ?

Where does it say Complete? All the characters have the word "New Type" next the Profile.
I have Cleared all the available missions and there are no New mission apart from the final mission where it is grayed out. I have got all the licenses and all characters are at least level 19.
