Overview
-Estimated achievement difficulty: 5/10
-Approximate time to 1000G: 30+ hours, depending on skill for master achievement.
-Playthroughs: 1
-Missable achievements: Yes, Proving grounds
-Does Difficulty affect achievements: Yes
-Glitchy Achievements: none so far
-Offline: 32 (930 )
-Online: 8 (70 ; In The Zone, I. Am. Iron Man., Intercept & Pursue, Recommended, Paparazzi, I'm Going To Hollywood!, King of the Hill, Notorious)

Introduction

This game is much like the first (aggravating at first), but once u get the hang of things, it will go much easier and be much more enjoyable. Very good upgrading and customization. Alright so the achievements look hard, but in all reality they are easy if you follow my guide. Only reason I even put a 5 for difficulty is because of the 10 hours online achievement, King of the Hill, and the mastering all maps. Time consuming mostly. Alright this is my first guide. I have never made one, but I have great strategy's to help you and saw no guide up. I no my grammar is bad, but I type at a speed of 150 words a min, So i make errors quite often (sorry ahead of time). So I hope this helps.

1. Career

When you start career, remember to win the first tutorial when you are in the GTR. If you are about to lose, dashboard immediately or you will miss your "proving grounds" achievement. This game isn't easy, even on easy. If you get stuck, don't stress about it, just move on to another race. The rivals are very difficult, so i would insist doing every race you can besides the rival ones. Just focus on leveling up and earning cash. Then when you have completed everything and are filthy rich. Go back and buy all the fastest cars to help with the rivals. A thing to keep in mind, if the AI are too fast. Use a CRAPPY vehicle, for example: Nissan 240SX for the retro japan, with NO UPGRADES. The slower vehicle you have, the slower vehicle they have, and also for some reason the AI are LOTS easier.

2. Online

Online should be after career, the achievement "King of The Hill" is hard! This one cannot be boosted. You have to win 6 matches in a row in "Driver Duel Championship" gametype. The reason you should do career first is for the practice, and the fact not as many people will be on 2 weeks from now do to the games aggravation. All the other ones can be boosted either in ranked by finding each-others sessions, or in private.

3 Clean up

By now you should only be missing a few achievements like " A Drivers Battle" by using the helmet cam and the "License" achievements. Just Follow my steps below for each one, don't worry because none are missable. Over all a 1000 to be proud of.

Amateur 5
Reached Driver Level 5

See "Veteran"

SEMI PRO 10
Get to level 10

See "Veteran"

Pro 50
Reached Driver Level 15

See "Veteran
"

Veteran 75
Get to level 20

Alright, you should get this one by the time you finish career or halfway if you got limited edition with the day one double XP. But if you want it fast do this:

Go to Career, then on the 3rd tab select Drifting, go to the "Amateur League showdown" and repeat the first stage over and over. You can bank in 2-3k a race.

Road To Glory 10
Beat your First Rival

Just beat your first rival, Its Vaughn Gittin Jr. Its In the Drift option on the 3rd tab, all the way at the bottom. An event called the "Final Slide" will ask you to get 20 drift podium finishes before unlocking. There are 4 tracks you will have to do. The last one is annoying. You need to use a fast car like an exotic with works conversion because you need SPEED! On the last turn just drift as long as possible even if it means hitting a wall. That turn will give you a lot of points. Try to get 1st on the first 3 tracks and you can afford 3rd place on the last one.

Proving Grounds 10
Won JRs GTR challenge

The very first race tutorial of the game where you are driving the GTR. You have to win this, so dashboard if you are about to lose.

"Missable"

Recommended 5
Completed an event recommended by a friend

This one can be totally looked over. At the end of a race instead of leaving. It will say to hit the button to recommend. Recommend to a Friend and have him do the same. The go to your Auto-log, then to recommendations, and then click on it and do it.

Cub Scout 10
Won your first Event Set badge

Self Explanatory, just finish all the events in an Event set. Should be one of your first achievements.

The Drivers Battle 5
Completed an event purely from helmet cam

Alright easy as pie! Quickest way, Go to Drift on 3rd tab, go to "Drifters Smokem Tour", and pick the map "Miyatomi" (Make sure your in helmet cam!). Their are two, make sure you can see the Helmets side. Then do the race and once u finish, Achievement unlocked. But if it doesn't then just replay. Sometimes if you start without already being in the correct cam, it wont unlock.

Dominator 100
Beatin All The Rivals

Vaughn Gittin Jr - Drift Branch
Darren McNamara - Retro Branch
Chris Rado - Time Attack Branch
Vaughn Gittin Jr - Muscle Branch
Jamie Campbell Walter - Modern A Branch
Tommy Milner - Endurance Branch

Jamie Campbell Walter - FIA GT1 Branch

Works Champion 50
Beat Mad Mike Whiddett and won the Works Championship

Level 14/15 tab, "Works Branch"

Going The Extra Mile 25
Completed 250 Event Objectives

Should already of figured out there are 2-3 extra objectives per race than you can complete. At the start of the race, and at the race menu it will show you them. If you go to Auto-log, then to your profile, it will show you on your right how many event objectives completed that you have so far.

GT3 Champion 50
Beat Patrick Soderlund and won the FIA GT3 European Championship

Level 14/15 tab, "FIA GT3 Branch"

NFS: SHIFT 2 GUIDE

I. Am. Iron. Man. 10
Placed 1st in 5 consecutive Online events

Get a friend and make a match, then put the details on something no one plays. Then try to get your find to find your match. I also heard it can be done in PRIVATE matches . Thanks to LeMansFahRer for the information.

GT1 Champion 100
Beat Jamie Campbell-Walter and won the FIA GT1 World Championship

GT1 tab, "FIA GT1 Branch" (must beat Patrick Soderlund and Mike Whiddett to unlock)

Daywalker 50
Mastered every location in day or dusk

See "Night Rider"

Night Rider 100
Mastered every location at night

You need to master every corner on ever map, and master the road itself by staying on the green arrow for every section. The road will turn green on your mini map when complete, and the corners will have a check mark. Go to auto-log and profile tab, then go down to event badges earned, then press and select tracks mastered to show you all the ones you have and have not done.

Bounty Hunter 20
Earned $10,000,000 total during your career

Go to your Auto-log, then profile tab, then to your right it will show how much total money you have earned thus far. You can replay any race and get the 1st place cash. If you do races towards the end you will gets loads of money.

King of The Hill 10
Won your first Driver Duel Championship crown

There are seven stages to the driver duel championship. I have tried dashboarding and such. But sadly, this one is not boostable and not glitched. You have to win 7 matches in a row, if you should lose then you will be knocked to the bottom once again.

Leno would be proud 10

Badge Collector 50
Earned 100 Badges

If you go to your Auto-log, Profile tab, down to the badge option and click , then press to shuffle through the 3 areas of badges. It will show all that you have and don't have. You earn badges by Beating Rivals, Mastering Tracks, and completing all events from a given event set list.

Workaholic 10
Upgraded 3 vehicles to Works spec

You need to upgrade your vehicle with performance parts until the bar gets to works spec. Which is around 80%. But you should just upgrade it all the way then go to the very end and select work spec. It costs a lot of money, but is well worth it. Do this with 3 vehicles and this unlock is yours.

Grass Roots 10
Completed JR's Grass Roots event

Once you hit level 4/5 you will unlock the Drifting event set-list. Just go to it and you will immediately come into a tutorial. Finish it and the Achievement will unlock.

In The Zone 10
Won an Online event from helmet cam

This one is exactly the same as the "Drivers Battle" achievement. Just do it with a friend and make sure you see the helmets inside, do to the fact there are two first person views and its easy to make the mistake. Use the achievement trading thread posted here.

Notorious 25
Played Online for over 10 hours total

You can view how many hours you have on your profile tab in the auto-log to keep track. Also you can go into private with a friend and just leave your car sitting to rack up time.

Intercept and Pursue 10
Completed an Online Catchup Pack and Online Catchup Duel event

These two you can either do legit or boost. You do not need to win these, just play one of each. Either path you choice you need at least 3 for catchup pack and only 2 for Duel.

Im Going To Hollywood 10
Got through the Qualifying round in the Driver Duel Championship

This one is an online one, though they don't clarify. Go to Xbox live in the main menu and select "Driver Duel Championship". There are seven stages, you just have to defeat one opponent. Its possible to boost if your lucky enough to get a friend in, do to the fact it completely random.

Paparazzi 5
Shared a photo or replay with others

Select a vehicle and go to garage on the main menu, then go take a photo, take your picture and save it. Then go to auto-log, gallery tab, and press to share. Achievement will unlock immediately.

Won 25 Career events on Easy difficulty or higher

See "Race License"

Competition License 10
Won 50 Career events on Medium difficulty or higher

Race License 50

This one can be done on the same event 75 times (load off our shoulders). Just go to options on the main menu and select gameplay, then select hard and remember to SAVE! Do not just back out or it will not stay on hard. What I did was go to drifting, and select " Drifters Smokem Tour", then select the Miyatomi track, and did it 75 times. You have to make 1st place for it to count. Even an amateur drifter can make 1st on this every time with some practice. Get a pen and paper and keep tally, do to the fact there is no way to keep track of how many you have. If you absolutely suck at drifting, just pick any level you can do, and do it over and over again.

Sizzlin 10
Beaten the 1st Target Time in a Hot Lap event

Once you hit level 2 or 3(cant remember), go to the tab with the hot chick and choice the hot lap event set. Choice any event and you will have 3 times sets, an easy, medium, and hard (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). Beat the time for the hard one that says 1st next to it and your golden

Elitist 10
Placed 1st in an event using Elite handling model

Go to options and gameplay, select elite handling and SAVE! Then go to any easy race you know and make first place.

Go to quick race and set the event to this (make sure your handling mode is under 'elite').

Event Type: Race
Location: TOYOTA SPEEDWAY at Irwindale Oval
Number of Laps: 1
Number of opponents: 1
Opponent Vehicle Choice: Identical

Beat the other racer and wha-la! Achievement should pop up. Have fun!
Thanks to Icodemded for this!

Tic Tac Toe 10
Own a Modern, Retro, and Muscle car

When you go into car lot to buy a car, it will say the type right next to the class ranking. If your going cheap then buy these three cars.
Retro: Volkswagen Golf Mk1 GT1 for 4,500
Modern: Scion tC for 11,500
Muscle: Dodge Charger R/T for 39,000

Dialed In 10
Used On-Track Tuning to save a Tuning Setup for a car

Go to garage at the main menu, select a car, then go to tuning option. Select create, Press for quick tune, tamper with it then go to test. Pick any map, then drive 4 feet and press pause, select tuning and change something. Then save your edit and resume your game. Achievement should pop.

Globstrotter 20
Competed at every location in the game

Here is the list. You do not need to complete every track in the location. Just one in each. You can also See the list in quick-play.

Alpental, Ambush canyon, Autopolis, BrandsHatch, Brno Circuit, Circuit Dijon Prenois,
Circuit Zolder, Circuit De Catalunya, Circuit De spa Francorchamps, Dakota, Donington Park, Dubai Autodrome, Ebisu Circuit, Enna Pergusa, Glendale, Hazyview, Hockenheimring, London, Mazda Raceway, Miami, Miyatomi, Monza, Motorsport Arena, Mount Panorama, Nordschleife, Nurburgring, Riviera, Road America, Rustle Creak, Shanghai, Silverstone, Suzuka Circuit, Toyota Speedway, Tokyo, Willow Springs IMP

The World is my Oyster 10
Unlocked the FIA GT1 Branch

You need to beat Patrick Soderlund in the "GT3 Branch" and Mad Mike Whiddett in the "Works Branch".

Nailed it 10
Track Mastered your first location

Same as "Day walker" and "Night Rider" except you just have to do one track. Just master every corner and every section by staying on the green line. You will know if something is mastered by a checkmark on every corner and green road sections on your mini-map.

I thought the point of a "guide" was to explain the best ways possible the get the achievements? All your doing is explaining what you have to do to get them, which, they are pretty self-explanatory anyways. I think I'll wait for someone else to put up a REAL guide.

this guide is for real gamers. not noobs that need me to hold there hand through self explanatory achievements. only certain achievements like winning 75 events on hard need a short cut and/or strategy. if you seriously need me to explain in further detail on how to host a room and invite someone to boost with, or how to turn correctly on every corner to master them. then you seriously are a horrible gamer.

On the easy self explanatory achievements, i just show everyone where to go and/or to look to keep track of what they need or where the specific race is located. So children please stop crying. Gotta grow up and leave your mommy sometime. If you dont like my strategy or help. leave the forum and shut up. Im not even close to finishing.

This isn't really a guide if you're not even going to list the car manufacturers for the achievement "Leno would be proud". A guide is supposed to be 'Noob Friendly', not just for so called "Real Gamers".

Time To Rage's Gamercard
For proving ground you must win in the second event of the game (the race with the Nissan GT-R) and for grass roots you have to complete the drift tutorial. For im going to hollywood all you have to do is win the first round of online driver duel (I won my first race so you may be able to lose it and still get chievo, but that conflicts with the name) Also, american idol reference in a NFS game... wtf?

Guys give him a chance, the main aim for him was to help players that need it.
Why dont you guys write a private message to him offering help with the gramma if you can do it better. Once a person starts writing things in the Forum here, more players join by writing what is bad about it but nobody helps making it better. I have helped by alot of games over the past couple of years, but because my knowledge not beeing good enough for a guide and never learning the language (gramma), I will never write a guide seeing nobody wants to help. Start helping players and everybody will notice that guides get better and better.
Anyway, I will start: Good Guide for a start, if you need some info for some achievements let me know, I will help if I can. Sorry I cant help on the gramma for for anything else you are welcomed to message me.
Keep up the good work, It will get better.

Not very wise writing things without reading ! Did you read from what location I am from ? Germany. I donīt think it will help anybody here if I make one. Please, donīt think that Google Translater can help, it cannot.
But, if you are offering we can make one together

erm... I see no guides for this game from you so why dont you kindly F*** off.

Oh and 41inuyasha, thanks for starting a guide, I always like a guide to refer to, even a work in progress one.
Also, this thread is a perfect example of why I don't try my own. Getting flamed for poor grammar (seriously?) and because it's vague at first. When I could be spending time with my girlfriend and son or even my XBOX or my mates, hell I could even be working overtime for extra cash and this is the thanks I would get. Not worth it but Kudos to those who do.

Anyone that relys on a guide for every achievement should just put your controller away. This guide is self explanatory, because the achievements are!!! Theres no need for one very basic and anyone with common sense can figure it out well at least anyone. On that note nice guide thus far

As in the first Shift game can one start a 20 lap race on the Miyatomi (spelling) track to rack up XP from overtaking, etc? Will it still work faster for XP levelling versus the drifting suggestion?

OK, maybe I missunderstood the post or took it too personal. No harm done and in this case I agree with you, playing the games is much easier and alot more fun than writing guides. Best regards

Yes, you can boost XP that way in Shift 2 as well, but it is really not necessary. You will have more than needed for rank 20 by the time you get towards the end. Try for getting enough money instead of XP, that you will need to buy all the cars.

So the king of the hill achievement i need ideas on how people can get it. becuase its tuff. Can anyone confirm if you dashboard before you loose, that you will not get knocked down back to the qualifying round.

I think the Proving Ground achievement is unlocked after completing the intro race. I could be wrong but It's the race right when you load the game up.

Yeah I agree, my bro was only 28%% career complete and got his rank 20. Rank 20 will come in time but cash, gotta boost some way or another.
