How does experience work?

So the question is basic, but I'm wondering if there's an XP breakdown. FOr instance, do kills with a gold intertial element count as less than a kill with the basic pistol.. if I approach a group of guys, kill one with an exploding barrel one with a headshow and one with a missile is that better than just three headshots.. missile kills vs gun kills, etc.

If anyone knows how this kind of breaks down it would be really helpful.

Every kill is the same no matter how or with what. However, you can get the multiplier going by killing sprees to increase the amount per kill (until it resets), and if you're quick you can even grab an upgrade while the multiplier is on to get more than usual that way.
