Silly question (maybe)

So last night myself and a teammate were going for the Auf Wiedersehn achievement among others. It got to the point where in 3 hours, we managed to find a game with eachother about 5 or 6 times, the rest we were being put into the same lobbies with different players.

We are preferred players, but it seems like there is no option to invite friends into a lobby either. My questions are:

1. Does this have to be done in a ranked match? And if not, surely getting to level 10 will be just as difficult to find a match with the boosting partners.

2. Is there any way of inviting friends into a match to boost these achievements?

3. If not, is there any quick and easy way to guarantee yourself in the same lobby as another booster?

After just spending a month boosting this and fresh off getting the achievement, I should be able to answer your questions:

1. Yes, the races and games have to be in ranked matches to count towards Petrovic. You also need to be in ranked matches to earn money towards getting to level 10, regardless of the game-type you use.

2. There is no method for inviting eachother into lobbies, you just have to search for eachother.

3. There are no guarantees to get into the same lobby together, but there are a few things you can do to increase the chances you'll see eachother:
  • Check your "Trueskill" ranks in races and GTA races using the leaderboards menu in the singleplayer. If one of you is more than one or two ranks above/below the other player, one of you needs to win/lose races until your trueskill ranks match (or are very close to eachother). Keep and eye on that rank as you go to make sure you're always within a few points of the other.
  • Time of day matters, there tends to be the most people online on weekends and early weekday evenings. Me and my boosting partner found the best time to be between 8pm-11pm pacific / 11pm-2am eastern on week nights. It's least congested then and you have a better chance of ending up in the same lobby. GTA Races are also less congested than regular Races, so maybe start there to get the hang of matchmaking and get your trueskill ranks on par with eachother.
  • Try to get infamous with the other people playing. Vote to kick the host no matter what, refuse to ready up, and be a general pain in the ass until you have a reputation and other players vote to kick you on sight. Getting kicked from lobbies is a good thing, believe me. If you get kicked from other lobbies it increases the likelyhood that you'll be placed in your own lobby, thus ensuring you will be host and can choose the race track and settings. Have your boosting partner search for you (quickly), or vice versa if he gets his own lobby.
  • If you're hosting a lobby that gets bombarded with randoms, do something obnoxious like set the race to helicoptors, set it to "grand tour" and set the laps to 8. You can even go further and make it midnight and raining. This will almost ensure you get kicked and get your own lobby by yourself (see above bullet point). Some dumbos will actually ready up with those horrific settings, but most should kick you which, again, is a good thing.
  • If one or both of you find yourself in a large lobby where neither of you are the host, it's best to try and nudge that game towards starting. Searching for new games will generally just put you back in your old slot in the previous lobby, but if you can get the game started, everyone in it will be busy playing that game, thus giving you the chance to search for (or create) new lobbies. You can either back out of the lobby at the last possible second before a game starts, or bring up your phone during the "3, 2, 1, GO" sequence of the game and go right back into searching for lobbies while all the other players are getting ready to play.
  • When you are in a lobby alone together, be extremely quick on the "kick" function. Have the non-host ready on the kick button and have the host be familiar enough with the menu to be able to get there in one or two seconds from choosing the other settings. If you don't kick an intruder fast enough more will arrive and you won't have the majority needed to kick people.
  • Finally, and I can't stress this enough, just be quick and nimble. Know when to kick others, know when to try and get yourself kicked, make sure both boosters know which track you both need next so whoever gets a lobby can quickly choose the right settings, and ready-up as soon as you can before others drop in.
Sorry if it seems like a novel, it's all so fresh in my mind like a nightmare that it's theraputic to get it out. Hopefully these tips help you.

Wow, why the hell the PS3 and 360 versions are so different??? I mean, I got AWP on PS3 and you can invite a friend and never be bothered by any intruders. Plus, even when you play with random people, after a match everyone gets back in the same lobby together. That's good when you actually enjoy those people.

I'm trying to get this cheevo on 360 and, pfff, I don't get it. I think the 360 mp is mush better in general, like the chat system, party, etc. So why GTA IV's mp is so lame? AWP is already a pain enough without having to FIND your partner randomly!

None of this shit works bro.
Because you get kicked and your partner gets stuck in that lobby still .
Most people have trouble with the races .
Where true skill rank don't mean shit you get put into a lobby regardless if you've won 1million or no races
Trust me I've been playing this game since late 2009 and I see people trying to boost daily. Everyone goes into the same lobby.

The only thing you said that works is time of day.
Your best and only bet is to play during 10 am and 2pm GMT
The lobbys after that are so full its impossible to even get a race that's not full in 2 mins.

Yeah, you have to play really late at night on weeknights if you're going to get matched with a partner consistently. Boost with a group of people if possible. Deadman's tips are great and is pretty much exactly what I did to get this achievement. Get games started and drop out ASAP to try to get into a lobby with your partner. GTA Races are WAY easier than regular races; you can do those with just two people late at night.
