Are the other call of juarez games really much better than this crap?

I've just started playing The Cartel and can honestly say it's one of the worst shooters I've played on the 360. Just terrible. From what I know the previous games have pretty decent reputations though? What went wrong with The Cartel? Did the devs just have massive brainfarts or something?

Ok here is the thing.

Techland had been developing the game since roughly early to mid-2010. But they were also developing Dead Island since 2006, and Deep Silver was publishing DI.
Ubisoft wanted Techland to make sure that CoJ 3 was released before Assassin's Creed: Revelations AND Dead Island. So this resulted in the game being rushed.

Besides, it was Ubisoft who wanted it modern.

But, I did enjoy the game and cannot wait for CoJ 4.

I just beat brothers and blood and it was alright, better than I expected. I'm about to play this game and haven't heard much good things from it

Yes. Even the first one in my opinion.

Both games (The first two) are related and tell a decent enough story with characters you can care about to a point compared to all three protagonists in this one that have muddled and cliched storylines.

If you must play any of the other games, play the second one. That game was beautiful to look at and I loved the gun mechanics in it and the nice open (albiet dead) world you could have explored. Plus it really fleshes out the entire game's story which revolves around The gold of Juarez.

This game doesn't, at all. Very disappointing.
