-Offline: 46 (980)
-Online: 2 (20)
-Approximate amount of time to 1000 : ? hours, depending on skill.
-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 14+ (Difficulty Clear across ALL Games)
-Number of missable achievements: 0
-Glitched achievements: No.
-Cheats disable achievements: Yes. God Mode (ESCHATOS) disables saving of game score and achievements. Likewise, Special Settings switched on will disable certain achievements.
-Does difficulty affect achievements: Yes.

[This guide is still in progress, and will be updated accordingly.]

Introduction:
ESCHATOS is an original shooting game (STG) developed for the Xbox 360 by Qute Corporation. The game goes back to old school roots with its presentation and features a vast amount of enviroments to fight through. Also included are two Wonderswan classics: Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins. The first print run contains a soundtrack CD featuring music from ESCHATOS and the Wonderswan games.

While the game is only availiable in Japan, there is no region lock thus anyone can play this amazing game.

Step 1: ESCHATOS
The main course of the three games. To begin, pick any game mode and try to get as far as you can. Eventually, you'll unlock new game options when you reach specific Option levels. You'll want to keep playing each game mode on each difficulty until you can clear it, while working on all other related achievements. You can change life stock and use Continues without cancelling out achievements, so eventually you'll get everything done before reaching Option Level 50. Otherwise, use all the unlocks to your advantage to make the remaining goals easier.

Step 2: Judgement Silversword
To start off here, we're going to need to earn enough points to unlock Freeplay (unlocks at Option Level 26) while aiming for Option Level 50. The best way to get points is to repeatedly run through Hard, and keep using the shield on mid-bosses. Time bonuses are far more generous on Hard too, and the further you get, the more points you'll accumulate. Unlike ESCHATOS, we cannot adjust the Stock as it will disable achievements. Practice Mode should help with the later stages, but ideally it'll take a bit of luck and skill to make it to the end on default, though Freeplay will make it less tedious.

Step 3: Cardinal Sins
This guide is still under construction, but will be updated when ready.

Conclusion:
This guide is still under construction, but will be updated when ready.

ESCHATOS ACHIEVEMENTS:

ORIGINAL EASYクリア (ORIGINAL EASY CLEAR) 20
Clear ORIGINAL EASY MODE.

See ORIGINAL HARDESTクリア

ORIGINAL NORMALクリア (ORIGINAL NORMAL CLEAR) 30

ORIGINAL HARDクリア (ORIGINAL HARD CLEAR) 30

See ORIGINAL HARDESTクリア

ORIGINAL HARDESTクリア (ORIGINAL HARDEST CLEAR) 30
Clear ORIGINAL HARDEST MODE.

Each difficulty has its own tied achievement, and only requires you to finish the game regardless of Continues used. Now, while the other three lower difficulties can be played straight away, HARDEST MODE requires you to reach Option Level 17 before you can play it.

Use the shield in heavier bullet sections, pick up the F item when you need to make breathing room during boss fights, and remember what enemies drop extends to give you a little more room for error.

Alternatively, when you reach Option Level 40, you will unlock Freeplay, thus you can die as many times as you'd like to the end, essentially you don't even have to play.

Note: You will not get credit for clearing the game if you change the Start Stage option from 1.

ADVANCED EASYクリア (ADVANCED EASY CLEAR) 20
Clear ADVANCED EASY MODE.

See ADVANCED HARDESTクリア

ADVANCED NORMALクリア (ADVANCED NORMAL CLEAR) 30
Clear ADVANCED NORMAL MODE.

See ADVANCED HARDESTクリア

ADVANCED HARDクリア (ADVANCED HARD CLEAR) 30

ADVANCED HARDESTクリア (ADVANCED HARDEST CLEAR) 30
Clear ADVANCED HARDEST MODE.

Each difficulty has its own tied achievement, and only requires you to finish the game regardless of Continues used. Now, while the other three lower difficulties can be played straight away, HARDEST MODE requires you to reach Option Level 25 before you can play it.

When you reach Option Level 40, you will unlock Freeplay, thus you can die as many times as you'd like to the end, essentially you don't even have to play.

ADVANCED MODE has a different mechanic to ORIGINAL, where you can collect Power Up pickups to increase your shot power, the tradeoff here however is that your Shield strength weakens. You can pick up yellow/blue F items to reduce your shot while also turning on-screen bullets into purple triangles for bonus points.

Note: You will not get credit for clearing the game if you change the Start Stage option from 1.

TIME ATTACKクリア (TIME ATTACK CLEAR) 30
Clear TIME ATTACK MODE.

Time Attack is a seperate mode that has you playing against a time limit. You must reach the end to have this unlock. The difficulty mirrors ORIGINAL NORMAL so if you can clear that without problems, this should be self explanatory.

Time extends are added when you:
+ clear an Area
+ defeat a Boss
+ pickup a 1UP Extend

Combo chains freeze the time temporarily, while losing a life will cost you five seconds each time.

全モードプレイ (All Mode Play) 20
Play varying difficulty on all game modes.

You'll need to play every difficulty, including Endless Mode, on Original and Advanced at least once, but you don't need to clear them. Quitting out won't count.

少尉 (Ensign) 10
Option Level has reached 10.

See 空将

少佐 (Major) 25
Option Level has reached 25.

See 空将

空将 (Lieutenant) 50
Option Level has reached 50, and all options had become availiable.

It's likely this may be one of the last achievements you'll need while working on everything else. Your Option Level raises when you reach specific score cutoffs that accumulate across all game modes (except Time Attack), and you can check each required score under Options > Report.

The best way to get this faster is repeatedly play Advanced Mode on any difficulty you feel comfortable with. Endless Mode is also a good choice.

The final overall score needed for Level 50 is 500,000,000.

撃退 (Repulse) 10
Repel the giant mothership during AREA 5.

This is the first main boss you'll encounter. Shoot the silver parts on the ship while avoiding the snake-like enemies, then once you finish that, proceed to take out the core.

Note: This may not unlock on Easy.

追跡 (Pursuit) 20
Follow the transport ship reaching the satellite's orbital field.

This will unlock after the short battle against the boss at the end of AREA 09.

反撃 (Counterattack) 30
Crush the transportation warship in the satellite's orbitial field.

This is the same boss who you had fought back in AREA 09, who will reappear in AREA 15 in its final form after taking him down during the previous sections. Simply defeat him to earn this.

突入 (Charge) 50
Repel the giant mothership during AREA 20, and charge to the moon's surface.

This should unlock after the boss fight, just before the intermission scene where your ship heads in the direction of the moon covered with a purple shell.

Note: This may not unlock on Easy.

脱出 (Escape) 70
Destroy the mysterious lifeform fused with the moon, and return to earth.

This is the final boss you'll encounter in AREA 26, and has three forms.

Note: This will not unlock in Original/Advanced Easy, as the end boss only has two forms.

ダイレクトショット (Direct Shot) 50
Conceal into the core of the final boss, then strike a finishing blow.

This is the third form of the final boss, which is a red face. Take down his health until it's close to depleation, then run into the direct middle of his face and shoot him until he dies. You will lose ships while doing this, so be sure to have extra stock.

Note: This will not unlock in Original/Advanced Easy, as the end boss only has two forms.

圧倒的勝利 (Overwhelming Victory) 10
All remaining aircraft started as living 10 aircraft of the epilogue.

By the end of the game, you'll need to at least have ten lives in reserve. Any extra ships that you didn't have will be silver in color during the credit roll. The easiest way to obtain this is earning extra starting stock by increasing your Option Level. You CANNOT lose any lives during the run or this won't unlock, regardless of how many lives are left over.

Note: This will not unlock in Endless Mode, as it doesn't count remaining stock.

Hall of Fame 10
Upload a score to the Rankings.

This one is self-explanatory, however you must have life stock set to default before you can submit a score.

戦士の記録 (Record of the Combatant) 10
Playback an other person's replay data.

This may sound simple, but before you can do this, you need to reach Option Level 20. Head on to the leaderboards, find a high score with a paperclip icon and then press Y to confirm the download. Head on to Replay in the main menu, and then start the downloaded clip.

背水の陣 (Last Stand) 10
Shield 0% condition endured for 30 seconds.

This is easiest to obtain at the very start of Original Easy. Holding the Shield button until it depletes to 0, continue to hold down the Shield button while avoiding enemies and bullets until this unlocks.

倍率x20達成 (Amplification x20 Goal) 30
Broke past score amplificator x20.

This is the multiplier that you'll see to the left when you get a combo flowing. This is easiest to obtain in Advanced Mode, as each Power Up increases the multiplyer by one. Missing enemies doesn't cost you as much in a decreasing multiplier if playing on Easy, but at the same time increasing the multiplier will take far longer. F items will decrease the multiplier by one, so be wary to avoid them when going for this.

Note: You can't unlock this using Super Shot.

ループマスター (Loop Master) 30
Reach for the 4th rotation in ENDLESS MODE.

This will take a lot of practice to aim for, as you'll need to clear the game three times in sucession at varying difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard). This can be done in either Original or Advanced, so choose whichever mode you're comfortable with.

Alternatively, when you reach Option Level 40, you will unlock Freeplay, thus you can die as many times as you'd like to the end for each loop, essentially you don't even have to play.

鏡の監視人 (Mirror of Observation) 10
Holdout to the end until Mirror Shield self-destructs.

Mirror Shield is one of the mid-bosses, who appears during AREA 11. All you need to do is dodge its attack pattern which loops four times. Dying during this fight will not void the achievement.

Thanks to AssasinDK for confirming.

Note: This may not unlock in Easy.

エッグハンター (Egg Hunter) 20
All 3 eggs of the transportation warship are destroyed.

During the boss fight at AREA 14, you'll come across a part where the boss heads towards you with three roating purple spheres. You'll need to destroy all of them at this point before it moves away.

Note: This may not unlock in Easy.

せめて名誉の最期を (Attack Honor Finale) 10
Destroy the Kraken of AREA 24 before the enemy's laser.

Kraken is the hand-like enemy that you encounter as a mid-boss in AREA 22, who reappears during AREA 24. This one requires a quick aim as it doesn't last long before being killed by one of the pulsing blue lasers.

Note: This may not unlock in Easy.

弾幕のイージス (Aegis Barrage) 20
Eliminate beyond 512 enemy bullets using a single shield deployment.

I, personally, found this pretty easy to obtain during AREA 16 on ADVANCED HARDEST. There'll be a group of ships that follow a faint pink line. Keep strafing through the onslaught of bullets while trying to avoid being hit by a stray bullet or enemy. Make sure you don't have any powerups to keep your shield at 100.

JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD ACHIEVEMENTS:
Notice: Changing the default stock option (3) will disable achievements.

JSS:EASYオールクリア (JSS:EASY ALL CLEAR) 10
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Clear EASY MODE.

TBA.

JSS:NORMALオールクリア (JSS:NORMAL ALL CLEAR) 20
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Clear NORMAL MODE.

TBA.

JSS:SPECIALモードクリア (JSS:SPECIAL MODE CLEAR) 20
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Clear SPECIAL MODE.

TBA.

JSS:ジャッジメント・ゴールドソード (JSS:Judgement Goldsword) 10
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Clear Normal or above with the hidden aircraft.

TBA.

JSS:倍率x50達成 (JSS:Amplification x50 Goal) 20
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Broke past score amplificator x50.

On Normal/Hard, your shield acts as a multiplier combo, which increases when you break bullets or hold it against an enemy. The easiest and fastest way to get this is to play Hard and reach AREA 03. When you fight the gold robot, start charging into him with your shield, eventually the multiplier should hit x50.

Alternatively, you can get this during the AREA 05 boss fight with Mitsurugi, who will boost your multiplier tenfold.

Note: This cannot be done on Easy.

JSS:ミラーシールド撃墜 (JSS:Mirror Shield Shot Down) 10
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Crush the Mirror Shield of AREA 20.

This is pretty self-explanatory. Upon reaching AREA 20, you'll fight Mirror Shield, who has a similar attack pattern from Eschatos, but upon defeating it close to death, it'll start jumping across the screen shooting blue orbs.

Note: This will not unlock on Easy.

JSS:ミラーシールド再び (JSS:Mirror Shield Again) 20
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Crush the returning Mirror Shield again during AREA 26.

As before, but this time you'll be fighting two Mirror Shields (Reh and Roh), thankfully the intentional slowdown during this fight makes it easier to navigate through both of their patterns.

Note: This will not unlock on Easy.

JSS:最後の審判 (JSS:Final Judge) 10
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Charge into AREA 31.

TBA.

JSS:裁きの剣士 (JSS:Swordsman of Decision) 10
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Option Level has reached 25.

See JSS:審判の騎士

JSS:審判の騎士 (JSS:Knight of Judgement) 20
JUDGEMENT SILVERSWORD:Option Level has reached 50.

TBA.

I'll make another reserve, just incase I need to move some parts over to another post. As for now, the layout and descriptions for all achievements are finished.

In progress: Reaching Level 50 in Judgement Silversword, and providing information on assigned achievements. This could take over a week.

NEEDS CONFIRMATION:
I'm not entirely sure, but I think switching any of the Special Options on disables certain achievements (such as clearing the game on any difficulty). I was able to unlock Aegis Barrage with Collision Display on, but not get credit for clearing Advanced Hardest.

I can sort of understand if this is the case, as Super Shot is game breaking, and makes Time Attack an absolute joke. I'll have to figure out if they do indeed disable achievements, but the Japanese discription in-game doesn't make this entirely clear, unless I'm miscomprehending it.

UPDATE: Switched off all Special Options, with starting stock at 10. Recieved credit for clearing Original Hard, so I believe that these do infact partly disable achievements, more reason I guess behind this is that by default, they're off. If anyone can prove otherwise, please do.

UPDATE 2: Completed Easy on Judgement Silversword, didn't recieve credit. I'm guessing that unlike Eschatos, you cannot change stock setting and still get achievements. If this is truly the case, some of them will end up being much harder to attain.

Does this require default settings by chance? I've played every mode and this didn't unlock.

If you have either of the Special Settings or God Mode switched on, any difficulty you had played since then won't count, and you'll need to replay them. Starting stock can be changed.

Of course, make sure to start from Level 1.

It's been a while since I attended this guide, I need to work on explaining some of the others, but it has gotten to the point where I can no longer push forward due to my average play. I'll work on it soon...

No problem. I wanted to work on this as referance, and even though it isn't complete as of now, I hope the descriptions are enough to give an idea of what to do.

Eschatos has the easiest achievements overall, whereas JSS is the hardest.

Thanks for this guide. I couldn't figure out what I was doing to affect the multiplier until I read your notes about pickups. Hopefully you have find time to work on this a bit more, but if not you've already made the game much more enjoyable for me. Thanks for making it.

Also, it took me almost 2 hours of play time to beat Original - Easy. Is that normal, or should I just give up now :P When I finally beat it I was already up to Option level 10 from repeated attempts. This is going to be a rough ride through advanced I think...

No problem, unfortuantly I'm not sure how much I can do as the two Wonderswan games are pretty difficult (for me at least), so I'm not sure if I'll ever get any of those achievements to provide a tip for them.

The game should only take 35 minutes (average) for one run. It'll get easier the more you play it.

It's not that hard.. but the camera perspective changing while playing from 2D to 3D is bad idea.

Really good guide and very helpful! Made me understand certain objectives and mechanics. Just got it today, since it was re-released for a cheaper price (32) and it's still regionfree in case anyone is wondering.

Just to confirm, you can actually die during this battle and you will still get the achievement.

Thanks for confirming this, I think the reason to why it didn't work before was because I was playing on Easy, which probably changes the way the achievement triggers.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish this guide as both the Wonderswan games aren't as lenient, and there's no continue option that I know of, unless it's unlocked through gameplay. The descriptions should be enough to give an idea of what to do, using videos alongside for some that could give more detail on how to earn them.

If there are any additions that can be added, please post them in this thread and I'll add the info.

Edit: Just noticed that the last message is a month old, I need to pay more attention...

Thanks for the support! Even though this is the only guide I've written, it was a good way to understand how to get a layout, which, if I ever do get around to picking up another region free Japanese game, will cut down some of the work next time.

Qute are releasing another STG this year, but there's been no word on region locking yet...

Yea i'm looking forward to hearing more about Ginga Force, only seen a couple of screenshots so far. Also hoping it'll be region free too as i've loved every minute of Eschatos!
