Coloured Wool Easy Way

I'm not taking credit for finding this out, my 12 year old stepson told me.

Example: I have 30 white wool I want making blue. I would need 30 Lapis Lazuli ore for this. However, take the Lapis ore, use LT whilst holding said ore on the sheep, and hey presto. You now have a blue sheep! Use the shears and you will get far more blue wool this way.

Using this method, I have 29 blue wool, and have only used 7 pieces of Lapis ore instead of 29. Conserves your quatities well, and you get what you want.

Hope this helps someone at least, some of you may know this already, just thought I should share this knowledge with my fellow Minecraftiers.

EDIT: just found this out, you can dye the black sheep to turn them blue, unlike their wool which needs to be turned white first before you can turn it blue. So dye any sheep any colour you want and shear them.

I never knew that... probably because I never tried hitting a sheep with anything except the shears just because they give more wool that way instead of killing them. Well props to your stepson for finding it! Its going to save a lot of time and resources!

He is a master of knowledge when it comes to Minecraft, being Autistic, he revels in collecting information and knows more about the game than Notch haha.

But get your preferred choice of dye, the hit a sheep with it. I just used 4 pieces of red rose dye and then sheared the sheep for 15 red wool. Just after my last post, the game went mad and kept spawning sheep for me. Must know I'm Welsh. Anyway, I quickly got 70+ blue wool and still have the majority of Lapis in my chest.

there was a glitch machine that would allow a player to convert any wool into one of 9 colors in the PC version.

The problem is it doesn't work in the Xbox 360 edition.

i knew this already but can never be bothered to find any sheep.

also wool is extreamly easy when sheeps dont despawn and grow back wool by eating grass then you can breed and trap sheep and shear them

I'm half. Is that why I keep getting half sheep?

Yes, I know. Terrible joke.

That must be the reason haha. I'm using the seed smouldering fright and loads of sheep have spawned on that world.

@Jordan. I never knew that the sheeps wool would grow back. Good to know that.

@mrj3d. Kids are far more attentive than us grown ups. Especially autistic children. My stepson has amazing sense of logic and is very aware of how a game works. Hell, by the time he was 8 he could reconfigure and repair his schools computer network. He also loves building mad stuff on Minecraft and figured out how to use minecart tracks before me lol

So when you color them they will have sheep children of that color?

Looking forward to gettin the update to breed sheep, as they don't stay around long. I've noticed they disappear after a while. Give me a good reason to make a farm then. Seen a video by SyndicateProject on YouTube where he has a farm full of all the animals and just breeds them etc. Future project right there.

Suppose if you mix yellow and red sheep you'd get an orange one.

Wait until you make them Cyan or Yellow. This process does save you using as much dye. Just wish I'd known about this before.

No problem Kev. Its been so useful for gettin the coloured wool I need for the carpets in my world. Instead of going the long way around.

To make cyan dye, mix cactus green and lapis lazuli dye. To get cactus green, whack it in the furnace.

Or you could just colour a few blocks of each type then do the furnace glitch and get as many as you want! I've filled 3 chests of coloured wool to help with rugs, carpets, walls and any other random things that I might want! Works a treat until 1.8 is out

Suppose you could glitch it for loads more a lot quicker. But myself and many others included, want to do it the legit way. None of my worlds have any duped blocks, items etc. Still looking forward to Creative mode, but as it is, I'm enjoying foraging for my supplies.

Glad to have been of some help for everyone else.

Wink nice tip!

o0 i never knew about that, its funny you mentioned lapus because the blue wool is my favorite + usually the hardest to come by due to lapus rarity. actually not too rare i suppose, but i can get flowers or cacti much easier for those dyes imo.

Easy + fast cooked pork!
another cool tip, i actually learned this legit by myself and was laughing so hard. not sure if other people know this, but if you use the flint&steel on a pig to set them on fire, when they die you get a cooked pork chop instead of a raw one! lol there was this time i didnt have a furnace (or sword) and i needed breakfast, i literally did it as a joke "lets cook breakfast!" but when he dropped a cooked porkchop i was like, "genius!!"

so ya, that saves time if you dont want to trudge all the way back to your base to cook the spoils. or if you dont have a furnace at the time, like i did when i found this out.

If you're absolutely cruel, sadistic (and a bit insane), replace "Flint & Steel" with a Lava Bucket. Heh heh. It gives you the same results... but since Lava can be infinitely recovered, you don't waste your F&S on the little porkers.

Only "two" problems... if you do this around Snow, it makes the Lava appear a block higher than you'll want it to... and if you're not fast about recovering the Lava, you'll likely kill the Pig, burn it's Pork Chops, and set yourself on fire.

...which is still quite fun.
