Cost of GTA IV

owned it many times but now it costs £15-£20 in the UK for a 2nd hand copy. I remember buying it for a fiver a couple of years ago in HMV. Anyone know whats driving the price up?

The release of GTA V perhaps, and many people who have not played it want to play it before GTA V. I noticed it happened when Mass Effect 3 came out, Mass Effect 2 went up. The same with Hitman: Blood Money, I couldn't get it any less than £7 on Ebay. It's what I think anyway.

The announcement of GTA V

Makes people want to buy the previous game to prepare, you'll probably come to find all the previous titles are the same.

The cheapest I've ever seen GTA IV for in the the shops is 15 quid and to be honest if there's one game that deserves a high price tag, even when pre-owned, it's this.

Yeah I mean really 20 bucks for GTA IV isn't bad at all. You get A LOT for your money. I picked up my copy for 20 bucks at gamestop and to be honest I would have been willing to pay much more, it is that good of a game.

Got mine last Black Friday new for $10 at GameStop.

They DID just raise the used price around here, though. $23-25 range.

Crazy.

The local gamestop has the edition with GTA IV, Lost and Damned, and The Ballad Of Gay Tony for $25 used. Not a bad deal when you really think about it. I do remember when it was way cheaper though.

You can't even get a copy on ebay for less than $20 (at least, not very often, you may get lucky).

I picked up the Complete Edition on sale at BestBuy for $20 earlier this year when they had a sale on Rockstar games. It'll probably go on sale right before GTAV comes out.

There is not really a comeback for any post about how much cheaper games are on steam compared to on 360.

Yeah, I remember about a year and a half ago I wanted to get into the Mass Effect series so I wanted to buy the first game. It was really difficult to find in stores for some reason and when I did find it, it was more expensive than Mass Effect 2. My solution, as usual, was to be patient and wait for a good deal to come up on Craigslist. I did that with GTA 4 too and I think I got the game around $15.

I think a good strategy, if you like to buy a lot of older games for cheap prices, is to subscribe to an RSS feed on Craigslist. That way you can easily see whether there are any good deals on games without having to go to the website every day. I've saved tonnes this way!
