Head items

Ninja Mask - Achieve victory with out paying a single toll.
Easiest when setting the game to 10 rounds on a large map, and you can simply avoid the other player. Two strategies that work are to use Fairy Light (which gives you magic every round) or bring in a couple of high price creatures that are not likely to lose on the off chance you land on an enemy creature. Setting the game to 10 rounds means it won't take long to try again if you don't succeed first try. Of course, it is also possible to get this while playing through Story mode, although that is not as likely.

Pirate Hat - Receive 20 tolls or more. Achieve victory.
You will probably get this in story mode. To earn it in versus, you can use a small map such as Santana Village and capture every land, or a larger map and raise the victory conditions. The Arrow map is good because if you set the victory conditions too low you can circle around the left side of the map and avoid ending the game until you have collected your 20 tolls. Note that you will also earn this when earning the Mummy Mask below.

Leather Helm - Pay 400G or more in a single toll. Achieve victory.
Another one that you will probably get in story mode. To earn it in versus, let the opponent level a land up, lose when you land on it (or move a weak character there), and then win the game.

Dwarven Helm - Achieve victory after chaining 10 or more territories.
Note that neutral lands don't chain, so this must be done with colored lands. Pick a color specific deck you are comfortable with, set the Arrow map to that color, and go to town. I would recommend a minimum of 8,000 for the goal to ensure you don't have any problems, but it is quite achievable with a 5,000 goal if you are comfortable with your deck.

Snake Circlet - Achieve victory using a book containing only neutral creatures.
No spells, no items, just neutral creatures. Obviously easiest on a neutral map, can be done on Arrow in a 10 round game against Irville.

Cowboy Hat - Receive 3,000G or more in a single toll. Achieve victory.
Get a level five land with a wolverine, and wait until the opponent lands there. You will most likely need to get a chain of 3 or more to get your base toll at 2,000 or more. The wolverine gives you a toll bonus of 1.5x what the base value is. A reflection spell comes in handy to defeat most attempts at killing the wolverine, although the Nuclear Fusion scroll will still kill it. You can get around that attack by having a lichenoid use its territory ability to get the wolverine to 60 or better HP. The Greed spell will give any territory the 1.5x toll multiplier, but then you can't defend it with the reflection spell, so use something stronger than the Wolverine. Note that this is harder to do without the chain bonus, so using an all neutral map may not be the best approach. You can do this on Santana Village while going for your 100 story wins, just focus on capturing all four green lands and eventually the AI will land there and cough up money and the cowboy hat.

Valkyria Helm - Achieve victory in a way other than sudden death when the enemy holds no territory.
You can earn this one if you capture every land on Santana Village (the smallest map) and win. I would suggest changing all the lands to neutral, maybe 7-8,000 magic to win, and go against Irville with the same deck you use to get the Chief of Goblins achievement.

Chain Helm - Fail 5 or more invasions. Achieve victory.
Another one you are likely to get in story mode. Otherwise, try invading with Powder Eaters.

Mummy Mask - Achieve victory having obtained a total magic of at least 90,000.

Straightforward, but it takes a while. A large map can do it, and going 3v1 will help because a) more of them to give you money and b) you need to do this anyway for the Shogun Armor (see Body Items below). You can also do this on the Arrow map, set it to neutral, take over the left portion of the map with solid defensive creatures, cast Fairy Light on yourself, and just rotate around on your friendly territory until you hit 90,000. This is slower, but also pretty much guarantees that you won't ever pay a toll and lose money.

Lions Helm - Attain a creature with 200 or more HP. Achieve victory.
This just has to be done in a battle, so you will definitely get it when you earn the Chief of Goblins achievement. Quite easy to obtain using the Magma Avatar also if you have a strong Red/Green board.

Golden Brave - Attain a creature with 200 or more ST. Achieve victory.
This just has to be done in a battle, so you will definitely get it when you earn the Chief of Goblins achievement. Quite easy to obtain using the Magma Avatar also if you have a strong Red/Green board.

Crown - Collect 500 cards.
You will get this when you earn the Worldly Scholar achievement.

Jester Hood - Exhaust the opponent through tolls. Achieve victory.
You will likely get this early in the story mode. In Versus, simply take over and level up as much land as you can. Pay attention to choke points. On the Arrow map, the connecting land is worth less, but your opponent has to travel over it twice each lap, so ensure that you capture and max out all six of these lands.

Plate Helm - Achieve victory without fighting once.
You can do this the same time as your Ninja Mask (Head Item, above) item if you avoid landing on enemy territories. Otherwise, paying a toll does not count as fighting, so you can simply pay the toll and go on to win. Also, see Wizard Hat (Head Item, below).

Wizard Hat - Achieve victory using a book containing no creature cards.
You can get this at the same time as Devil Wings (Back Item, below) and Plate Helm (Head Item, above). Get a deck of spells only, focused on magic and movement, set the turns to 10, and have at it. Four each of Fairy Light, Mana, Gift, Drain Magic, Pain, Land Drain, and Refuge are a good start.

Goat Helm - Using a book of only "R" rarity cards obtain a total magic of at least 10,000.
The issue here is that you will be at a huge disadvantage at the beginning of the game since your cards are so expensive to use. Two approaches are to go against Irville or Meltia on a neutral Arrow map, or go against characters from the end of the game since they will largely have decks that are also composed of more expensive cards.

Shogun Helm - Pay a total of 3,000G or more in tolls. Achieve victory.
You can do this in multiple ways. When going for the Mummy Mask (Head Item, above) you may end up paying this much just because the game is so long. Otherwise, coordinating this with Jester Armor (Body Item, below) works well. Set the goal to 20,000 or so magic, go around the map paying tolls (and exhausting your magic) until you hit 3,000+ paid (keep track of it yourself, the game won't tell you) and then come back for the victory. Irville is reasonably easy to beat when coming back from a significant deficit, especially on the neutral Arrow map. Meletia is another good opponent for this one since she uses Wolverines (1.5x magic collected via tolls).

Scale Helm - Achieve victory while you have all the dragons in play at the same time.
You will get this when you earn the Dragon Lord achievement.

Cat Ears - Defeat a dragon with a Powder Eater. Achieve victory.
Use the reflect spell against the Armored Dragon, Hard Rock Dragon, or Lightning Dragon. Set it up on a Level 5 yellow or multi-land, and exhaust your opponent, then hope they invade with a dragon. Note that a Dragon Zombie does not count for this. You also can go on the offensive by boosting the ST and HP of a Powder Eater through spells and territory effects. The only opponent who reliably uses dragons is Ancient God Baltias. Set it to 15,000 or so on Santana Village and get a couple level 5 lands with the Reflection spell, and this will happen pretty quickly.

Squirrine Ears - Fill the map with Powder Eaters. Achieve victory.
Use Santana Village set to All Multi against Meltia. Take your time and level up the lands, and use Mesozoic Song to invade with the Powder Eaters. Set the magic to 20,000 or higher, it can take a while. Suggestions include Mesozoic Song and Reflection for spells, and the following items: Wind Shield, Blade of Culdra, Shadow Armor, Scale Armor, Diamond Armor, Plate Mail, Petrify Stone.

Gladiator Mail - Complete "Santana Village" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Soldier Armor - Complete "Alcyon the Imperial Capital" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Storm Armor - Change all lands to air and water elements and win.
You can set the lands to all morph in the settings after you pick the map in versus mode, and use a Blue/Yellow deck. You will still have to change any the AI lands on, but that will save you some work. 15,000 on Santana Village should give you plenty of time.

Magma Armor - Change all lands to fire and earth elements and win.
You can set the lands to all morph in the settings after you pick the map in versus mode, and use a Red/Green deck. You will still have to change any the AI lands on, but that will save you some work. 15,000 on Santana Village should give you plenty of time.

Training Coat - Complete "The Anchoress' Mansion on Mt. Etumer" in story mode. Achieve Victory.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Leather Armor - Pay 5 or more tolls. Achieve Victory.
This will come very early in the story mode.

Ninja Armor - Achieve victory in a 2v2 with your ally never paying a toll.
Play a ten round game on a large map, and hope your ally isn't a complete idiot. If he is, it only takes 5-10 minutes to complete a 10 round game, so you can try again without too much time wasted. You can also use the spell card Innocence on your ally, which prevents them from paying tolls for two rounds.

Cepter Robe - Complete "Provedin, Palace of the Sun" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Chain Mail - Lose 5 or more lands. Achieve victory.
Another one you will probably get in story mode as you progress, but you can deliberately lose battles by using Powder Eaters until you have lost five lands, then go on to win the game.

Lion Heart - Achieve victory with all lands at level 1.
Never level a land up and win the game. You can set the victory conditions to 10 turns and get this very easily.

Shining Robe - Complete "The Altar of Light" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Darkness Robe - Complete "The Altar of Darkness" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Jester Armor - Exhaust your magic and still achieve victory.
Another one that comes easily enough early in the story mode, but you can do so deliberately in versus mode. Pick a map where you can avoid the castle (like Arrow) and just circle around until you are out of money, then come back to win. Set it to 8,000 or so for victory and fight Meltia on neutral Arrow.

Snake Armor - Achieve victory using a book containing no more than 1 of any individual card.
Create a custom book with no repeats, and play to 10 rounds. Toss down some nice cheap creatures and get some Snake Armor for your wardrobe!

Plate Mail - Pay 20 or more tolls. Achieve victory.
You may get this in story mode, or you can do it with Mummy Mask (Head Item, above) quite easily, just keep track to make sure you don't short yourself. You can also do it by itself, just don't buy territories at all until you have paid 20 tolls, and set the victory to 15,000 or so to make sure you have time to come back from behind. If you do this, Irville is pretty easy to beat on a neutral Arrow map.

Dwarven Armor - Raise to level 5 at least one territory for each of the four elements (fire, water, earth, and air). Achieve Victory.
You can do this on almost any map, just set your goal to 10,000 or so and if you don't land on the color you need, just change it and then level it up.

Mummy Tights - Place all idols (13) on the board and Achieve victory.
You will get this when you earn the Idol Lord achievement.

Scale Armor - Win a 2Vs1 match using no symbols.
You can do this in 10 rounds using Goblins and Powder Eaters to snatch up some quick lands for the victory. It helps if you head off in the opposite direction from the computer opponents to help cut down on early battles.

Shogun Armor- Win a 3vs1 Match
You can do this in 10 rounds using Goblins and Powder Eaters to snatch up some quick lands for the victory. It helps if you head off in the opposite direction from the computer opponents to help cut down on early battles. However, you may have better luck doing this either with the Mummy Mask (Head Item, above) or setting it to 30,000 or so magic for the goal and just legitimately exhausting their magic.

Pirate's Clothes - Successfully invade enemy territory 20 times. Achieve victory..
Another one you can earn during the story mode or while going for Mummy Mask (Head Item, above). The idea is to let the enemy capture lands, invade them and win, but then lose them yourself. A good way to do this is to invade with a powerful creature but then swap them out for a powder eater or goblin and let the AI capture them back. You can do this on Santana Village to increase chances of landing on enemy territories, just set the victory conditions to 30-40,000 or so and keep track of the invasion count.

Champions Cloak - Complete "Colosseum III" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Water Cloak - Using a book containing only water creatures, obtain a total magic of 10,000 or more against a story mode opponent, and achieve victory.
You will get this when you earn the Kin to Water achievement.

Air Cloak - Using a book containing only Air creatures, obtain a total magic of 10,000 or more against a story mode opponent, and achieve victory.
You will get this when you earn the Kin to Air achievement.

Earth Cloak - Using a book containing only Earth creatures, obtain a total magic of 10,000 or more against a story mode opponent, and achieve victory.
You will get this when you earn the Kin to Earth achievement.

Fire Cloak - Using a book containing only Fire creatures, obtain a total magic of 10,000 or more against a story mode opponent, and achieve victory.
You will get this when you earn the Kin to Fire achievement.

Neutral Cloak - Collect all neutral creature cards except "E" cards.
You will get this as part of your journey to earn the Truth Seeker achievement.

Angel Wings - On a map with no temples obtain 3,000G or more using symbols. Achieve victory.
Use a deck with Sanctum guards (you earn symbols upon victory), the spell Aurora (boosts symbol values by 20%) and the item Coin of Piety (earns symbols upon victory). For creatures I brough 3 Sanctum Guards (bring four if you have them), 2 Brass Idols (so you scroll through your deck faster), 4 T-Rex, 4 Borgess and 3 Collosus. I also brought these items: 4 Coin of Piety, 4 Earth Shield, 1 Metamorphose Belt, 4 Prismatic Wand and 4 Tonfa. For Spells I used 4 Reflection, 1 Aurora, 1 Bistair, 1 Freeze Cyclone, 4 Frost Needle, 4 Magic Bolt, and 2 Zap.
Play on Santana Village to 30,000 against Meltia and her deck The Earth (if she picks her other deck, restart or change your deck accordingly). I happened to capture Red and Green lands first, but it doesn't matter as long as you pick one or two colors to focus on. My strategy was to capture a land, change to Red or Green, exchange for a Sanctum Guard, put a Reflection enchantment on it, and then level it up to 3. Whenver Meltia landed on me and invaded, I would use the Coin of Piety and get 15 symbols (5 from the Guard, 10 from the Coin).
3000 sounds like a lot, but if you get 60 symbols, you only need to raise the value of that color's symbols to 50 to be successful. You raise the value by using the spell Aurora, chaining lands, and raising their levels. My Red symbols were worth 99 (max value) and I had over 100 of them at game end, and I had 15 Green symbols also worth 70+.

Black Cat's Tail - Using a book containing only "N" cards achieve victory with a magic goal of 10,000 or more total magic.
Same as the Squirrine Tail (Back Item, below) or the Goat Helm (Head Item, above) but with all normal frequency cards (don't confuse this with Neutral cards). Arrow Map with it set to all neutral land makes it easier, of course, against Meltia with her deck "The Earth".

Devil Wings - Achieve victory without owning territories and without using a single symbol.
See Wizard Hat (Head Item, above).

Squirrine Tail - Using a book containing only "S" cards achieve victory with a magic goal of 10,000 or more total magic.
The same approach works here as for Goat Helm (Head Item, above) but it is somewhat easier since "S" cards are less expensive to use than "R" cards.

Hand items

Holder Blade - Complete "Alcyon the Imperial Capital" in story mode.
You will get this when you complete the related level in story mode.

Mace - Receive 5 or more tolls. Achieve Victory.
The first game you win you will likely earn this one. If not, you will certainly do so with ease as you play the story mode.

Claymore - Steal land from the enemy 5 or more times. Achieve victory.
Another one that you will get very early in the story mode. By "steal land" they simply mean you need to win a battle where you are the invading force, and live through any effects that happen at the end of battle.

Blade of Culdra - Collect 1,000 cards.
You will get this when you earn the Universal Scholar achievement.

Prismatic Wand - Collect all item cards except "E" cards.
You will get this when you earn the Item Scholar achievement.

Fire Shield - Collect all fire creature cards except "E" cards.
You will get this when you earn the Master of Fire achievement.

Tower Shield - Collect over 1,000G from tolls and have 0 items in your deck. Achieve victory.
Create a deck with only spells and creatures and you can do this quite easily on any map you are comfortable with.

Water Shield - Collect all water creatures cards except for "E" cards.
You will get this when you earn the Master of Water achievement.

Air Shield - Collect all air creatures cards except "E" cards.
You will get this when you earn the Master of Air achievement.

Earth Shield - Collect all earth creatures cards except "E" cards.
You will get this when you earn the Master of Earth achievement.

Knight Shield - Defend land from the enemy 20 times or more. Achieve victory.
You need to win as defender 20 or more times in one game. Capture a lot of the available land and set the victory conditions to 10,000 or so. On the other hand, you will also get this when going for Mummy Mask (Head Item, above) so if you need both, aim for the Mummy Mask and simply get this along the way.

Wizard Staff - Collect all spell cards except for "E" cards
You will get this when you earn the Spell Scholar achievement.

Buckler - Defend land from the enemy 5 or more times. Achieve victory.
Another one that you may get your first victory, maybe as late as your second.

Trident - Achieve victory within 20 rounds other than by sudden death.
Choose a versus match on Arrow, then change to 10 rounds AFTER you have selected the map. Win and you have a Trident. If you are having problems, choose one of the story characters from later in the game since their creatures require a lot more magic to cast they are likely to take over fewer lands in the first 10 rounds.

Storm Causer - Destroy 10 or more creatures at once. Achieve Victory.
Create a deck with a lot of mass damage spells: Acid Rain, Burning Hail, Elemental Rage, Freeze Cyclone, Holy Blight, Plague. You also want Insect Swarm and Punisher. These spells hurt your creatures as well, which is fine because this does not differentiate between who owns the creatures being destroyed. You can throw down 10 goblins using Goblin's Lair and then hit them with Acid Rain and Insect Swarm, then win. Alternately, let the opponent capture at least 10 lands, and you can use one of the damage spells to hurt everyone, use Plague to poison them all (enchantment) and then use Punisher to do 20 damage to everyone with an enchantment.

Magic Shield - Achieve victory using a book with no spell cards.
Create a deck with only items and creatures and you can do this quite easily on any map you are comfortable with.

Battle Axe - In story mode defeat story characters 50 times.
From the main menu, choose Load, then choose Past Stagesand win. Santana Village is probably the fastest. Beating story characters in versus mode does not count for this, and choosing New Game resets your count to zero (so don't do that!)

Vorpol Sword - Achieve victory with 3 Gearions in play at the same time.
You will get this when you earn the Machine Lord achievement.

Aura Blade - Defeat Story Mode opponents 100 times.
From the main menu, choose Load, then choose Past Stages and win. Santana Village is probably the fastest. Beating story characters in versus mode does not count for this, and choosing New Game resets your count to zero (so don't do that!)

Masamune - Achieve a Sudden Death victory.
To win via Sudden Death, you have to earn half the G needed for victory and then deplete the magic of your opponent. Neutral Santana Village map against Meltia and her Earth deck, set the victory conditions to 10,000 and Sudden Death on. Wonder Walls on level five territory work great for this, but whatever your personal preference is to deplete her should be fine, you just have to do it once after Sudden Death is announced.

Great list so far, its about time some one made a list and told you how to do them all. I'll be watching to see how you do the 3,000 symbols. I'm working on it now but the CPU keeps screwing me!!!

I definitely enjoy the game, no doubt. This achievement is the last one I have left, and it will probably take me another 40-50 hours or so to get the last 9 pieces.

Nice one Creech. I made something similar that grouped achievements & avatar parts under certain deck builds/conditions, but it's not finished. If you want I'll send you a word doc of what I got to see if it's at all helpful.

For the Sudden Death victory, all you have to do is enable sudden victory when setting up the match (Set the match to 10 turns so that you can get to Sudden Victory quickly).
To get the Jester Armor set the match to 15K or 20K and the map Alcyon III (The one with the large square and the small square at the bottom), choose Meltia and morph tiles. The key to this is to constantly circle the small square so that you always land on her monsters (Since it's morph tiles she will always place monsters on the small square, put quicksand in your deck so that you can forcefully land on her cretures) and become exausted. Now this is when you will catch up, your deck will consist of monsters that are immune to earth attacks.
Now you want to obtain the Storm Causer avatar because it's the perfect time to do this, she will have more than 10 monsters on the field, just have the magic that does 30 to all earth then use the magic that hurts all cretures that have taken damage (I forgot the name of these two cards but have 4 of both so that you have them in your hand when you become exausted).
Just start placing down your monster and she will always lose because all your monsters have immunity and that's how you get the Jester Armor and Storm Causer avatars, also while doing this you will easily get other avatar parts as well.

Oof. All I have left is Aura Blade, for which I need another 35 or so wins, and then I am done. All of the approaches listed have been verified, but if anyone has suggestions or questions, feel free to hit me up.

More patient, perhaps, but your guide was very helpful...and I am also now done with the game. 1000/1000

Wrong, I've tested this over five times now and it does not give me the piece.

Just picked this up again and I have been trying to get avatar items for my friends that have just started playing so they don't look the same.

I start the game, pick a map, and then change it to 10R. We just walk around without doing anything trying to get the ninja mask for everyone. Match ends and we all take 1st, but no avatar items. Try it again where one of us uses Mana to be the only winner, no avatar items.

Now when I started their profiles, I suspended the first match for both of them before anything happened just so we could get to playing versus that much faster. I thought this might have something to do with it so I went through and finished up the match, got the story line avatar item and then saved them each and tried for the ninja mask again. Still no dice.

Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going wrong?
