What weapon is better for sneak attacks?

A dagger or a bow?

Dagger can do more damage than the bow, however most things will be killed in 1 hit anyway even with a bow and its alot easier to do sneak attack with a bow.

Yeah I find it hard to sneak up to someone without being detected for the range needed for melee attacks. However, with the Nightengale armor it has been a bit easier, but my archery is so high I might as well keep that up.

However, I am at a point where I cannot kill them in one hit, the enemies are a lot tougher and a bow gives me space to get a couple of shots in before the get to me. Or if there are multiple enemies they often are confused where I am so I can move slightly and keep picking them off.

There is a perk in the Sneak skill tree which gives daggers 15 times damage for a successful sneak attack. I use a Daedric dagger with fire and absorb health enchantment. Instant kill! I have fully upgraded the dagger to legendary as well including 20% improve enchanted necklace.

Looking for people to join me in an epic Minecraft build once again. Its in creative, so if you are interested, message me for details.

I use both depending on where I am and the situation. If Im inside of a dungeon or keep I go with a dagger and bow, but outside it's the bow all the way. Plus that 15X perk with a dagger makes for some nice killing animations.

I had a super-sneaky Khajiit using the Mehrunes Dagon dagger and had no problem sliting every ones throat. And I kept waiting to hear the "Mr. Sandman" music from Fallout 3.

So far I'm in love with the bow, just recently I took out a boss thats a really high level with multiple sneak attacks, used 48 arrows on him, and thanks to the armor I got from the Dark Brotherhood, he could never find me.

like everyone else said, it just comes down to how sneaky you are. I can one hit giants on master difficulty with dual wielding daggers and all my enchantments. Bows can kill things in 1-3 shots, and you will never be detected if you are sneaky enough

A dagger with the x15 sneak skill and the jester gloves you can find during a dark brotherhood quest that give double backstab damage. I can one shot most everything and with a high sneak skill I can literally dance in full light right in front of most enemies and then kill them with a x30 dagger.

I put skill points in one handed, sneak, and illusion. Use invisibility spell while sneaking with a legendary stalhrim dagger. Woooow.
