Efficiency = 1 Playthrough, Reuse saves

Disclaimer: I realize taking the most efficient path to 1k this game may upset Fallout purists that play the game for fun factor alone long after achievements are over. However, in the interests of an achievement-focused site I'm posting here my route to a quick 1k.

This path netted me the 1k in about 27-30 hours of real play time. I didn't track some of the save reloading, but that's a very fast 1k for this game and I was highly inefficient in some of my exploring for the 125 locations. I also power levelled to 30 AFTER finding the 125 locations, making my life much more difficult for the exploring. Further, I did the Achievement sidequests and Boomer quest line BEFORE I power leveled to 30, meaning I could've been closer to level 35 (and mostly maxxed skills) by the time I reached the Base Save #2 I mention below had I followed this method to the letter.

I'm confident you can 1k this game in 25 hours if you follow this advice.

So I read the guide/roadmap and it mentioned that it is inefficient to reload an old save for the 4 faction achievements but that didn't make any sense to me so I did it in one and I can tell you that one playthrough is definitely the most efficient method for a few reasons:

1. You obviously save time by not having to go through the first part of the game up to ring a ding ding.

2. You already have the world explored and thus can fast travel everywhere.

3. You're already geared up with caps to spare.

4. Character build is a moot point with the power leveling glitch for knocking out miscellaneous achievements. However, the following stats are what I used and worked out well.

Stats: 6 STR (early game doesn't need more and you'll use perks to increase it) 5 Per, 5 End, 4 Cha, 8 INT (for more skill points between levels), 5 Agi, 7 Luck (better crits).

Tagged skills: Speech, Lockpick, and Science (to hack safes, open locks, and pass speech checks). Concentrate on increasing these three as you level up in the early game too. It helps bypass some fights not to mention getting loot and working towards 50 Speech challenges achievement.

Take the Educated perk as soon as you can for more skill points, as well as Intense training x 1 to take your INT to 9. You'll get the 10th point in Int from the implant lady. More on that later. For your other 9 Intense trainings, put 3 into STR, 4 into END, 1 into PER, and 1 into Luck. This is assuming you want to take the Intense Training perk 10 times like I did. This brings all your important stats to 9 so you can use the implants to get them all to 10. Per will be 6 (7 after implant) and Agi will be at 5 (6 after implant) and Cha will be at 4 (5 after implant).

Play through the main game until you finish ring a ding ding and reach the point of the branching paths.

(((Optional step)))) Create a BASE save and use the power leveling glitch offline to level up enough to max out your stealth and grab a couple stealth boys to help you. Save on a DIFFERENT save file than the BASE one. Knock out your 50 pickpockets. This step is optional because if you follow this roadmap in its entirety, you'll be level 30 BEFORE you start all the Achievement side quests and thus will be able to put points into stealth and max it after level 30, meaning you can just do the pickpocketing later in the game without worrying about a separate save for it. Not to mention you can use the trick listed in another thread to just pickpocket Sarah 50 times at Vault 21 using a Stealth Boy. I just threw this step in because it's how I did it, even though I realize doing it was an hour I didn't need to waste doing it.

Reload your BASE save . Head to the strip and win at each of the 3 casinos until you get banned, which gives you 34,000 caps. You can also go round up the 7 snow globes (have to talk to Mr House to be able to get the Lucky 38's globe) and sell them for another 14k.

Use these at the New Vegas Medical Clinic to get your INT implant.

Now use the power leveling glitch (mentioned in other threads) after deleting the title update and playing offline and power level to 30, stopping near the end of level 19 and 29 so you can download the title update and connect to live to date stamp the level 20 and 30 achievements.

Head back to the New Vegas Medical Clinic and buy all the rest of the implants now that your END is high enough to use all of them.

When you do this raise your Speech, Barter, and Medicine skills to 75. Raise lockpicking and Science to 100. After that just spread the points as you wish between the other skills and weapon skills, but IGNORE STEALTH and SURVIVAL ENTIRELY. You can always raise them after level 30 if you wish but I got through an entire Hardcore playthrough without putting a single point into stealth or survival.

Again remember to take Educated as well as Intense Training (10 times) and you'll wind up with Str 10, Per 6, End 10, Cha 5, Int 10, Agi 6, Luck 10 at this point (intense trainings plus implants). By level 30 you will have 100 Lockpick, 100 Science, at least 75 barter and speech, and plenty (probably over 70) in all other essential skills. Your sneak and survival will be low but you can easily get everything else above 70 by level 30.

After Educated and Intense Training x 10, any other perks are up to you. I took the ability to carry 50lbs of extra equipment b/c I'm a hoarder, as well as Adamantium Skeleton. I also like the Grim Reaper's Sprint one but the only essentials are Educated and Intense Trainings.

Do ALL the ACHIEVEMENT side quests. Be careful not to get carried away with side quests, as some can affect factions. Only do the ones specific to the side quest achievements. They will not prevent any of the main faction quests.

Make sure you do the Boomers quest line as they are needed for the various main story faction specific quests. Theirs is a long quest line and it is best not to have to repeat it (or kill all of them) four different times. They should idolize you by the end of it, which makes life much easier later.

Do the Brotherhood of Steel quest line just long enough to get them to train you in Power Armor use. I also highly recommend a tri-beam laser rifle from Silver Rush (energy weap skill) or the that flaming sword (melee skill) from Gun Runners.

Now initiate each of the four faction quest lines. Warning: only ACCEPT the very FIRST quest of each faction so you dont lock out any others.

Now create BASE SAVE #2. From here, load this save and knock out each of the four factions' main story quest lines. This should only take about 2 hours or less for each if you've explored enough of the world to have their destinations or at least a nearby one opened up for fast traveling. Make sure not to save over your Base Save #2 while doing this. I made a backup personally.

Once you're done with the four faction quest lines, simply reload base save #2 and knock out any remaining damage and miscellaneous achievements. Killing sprees on the strip are the method of choice for the damage ones and go very quickly.

Thanks, I'll try this out for the four main faction quest lines. Currently Level 28 and finally about to confront Benny at The Tops. Hopefully I can get all of them in one run.

P.S. Why are you boycotting Gears Judgement?

Well in the interest of not derailing the thread, not to mention retyping a long explanation I already posted, I'd refer you to the GoW Judgment forum where I posted a thread about that. TL;DR It's a matter of principle b/c I dislike how that game studio treated gamers with GoW 3's event system.

I hope this help you. It's the exact method I used aside from the fact that I waited until after doing all the sidequest achievements to do the power level to 30 part. That just meant I finished the game to 1k by level 31 instead of a higher level.

I'd like to add to this thread now that I have completed 3 of the 4 endings/achievement routes. There is absolutely no reason to play through the game 4 full times for the different story faction achievements (unless it's for pure enjoyment, of course.) What I did was do the Boomer quest line immediately before going to The Strip. I then saved my game as soon as the factions approached me and wiped my reputation after meeting Benny at The Tops. I backed up that save and used it for The Mr. House, Yes Man, and Legion quest lines, and will finish the NCR one sometime this week. The reason you want to get the Boomers allied with you prior to your main save is because it allows you to skip a significant chunk of each faction quest line, as you can simply choose "The Boomers are already on my side and will do what I say" when each faction asks for their help.

I'd like to thank the OP for this initial post, which opened my eyes to the fact this is more than possible. I have no idea why the achievement guide recommends 4 separate playthroughs, even for the damage achievements, I got them all in my first playthrough just using different weapons.
