I think it is hilarious that everyone is saying 1999 mode is easier than the first two considering there are easy tricks to completing the first two on hard. To my knowledge, there isn't one for 1999 mode yet.

I'm almost done with my hard playthrough and I think that I'll stick with my 850GS. The game was a total breeze until the second handyman, I'd say, and there's a solid difficulty increase from then... I know that I will get frustrated on 1999 mode, and I play video games to relax after work, not to be frustrated...

I'll be trying for the 1000G. Hopefully I'll prevail.

I finished my 1999 play-through last night and the worst parts were the Siren, the second Handyman and the final battle. Honestly, if you take the rest of the game slow, you'll never run out of money and Elizabeth will always have your back.

I only have four achievements to go until I hit 1000, so I'm pretty much revved up and ready to finish this.

Got my 1k today, very proud of that 1k considering 1999 mode with Scavenger hunt can be quiet frustrating at times. The final battle wasn't an issue I did it on my first attempt, it was the Sirens I struggled with.

Offcourse going for 100%, if I would sadly not do any of the cheevos, it would be the collectables ones - I hate collectables and collecting em is sooooo boring.

I was at 850 for a day. The last 2 achievements for beating 1999 without DB machines was a joke with upgraded Possession and Charge. Easy 1000/1000

850, im at 665 or something like that, missed some vigors and missed collectable. Since the game is shitty about letting you know where you missed them im not playing again

I must be the only 725GS here than lol. I took some time off and playing BF3 again. But when I do return, I'll try to go for 1000GS. If I can't, I'll settle for 850GS. No biggie.

850 for now.
1000 later for sure.

I'm too much of a completionist to not get it or at least let it destroy me for months to come.

The thread title should more likely ask: "Who's stopping at 800?" Nobody's playing this on Hard. It's Easy, Normal or 1999 Mode.

But seriously I need to start my 1999 run, all mah friends done beat it already!

why would anyone stop at 800-850??? the challenge of 1999 mixed with the beauty of the game is what makes this game! if you didn't do 1999 on your first run it should be easier on a second run since you know what's coming. don't leave this incomplete...it deserves a second and maybe 3rd run. even though I did 1999 first I still did a full second run. I had so much fun with the time I spent on bio inf...!

I am halfway through 1999 without using any kind of special tips or even upgrades using Gear Head (actually very useful) Winter Shield and Head Master (got all randomly) It isn't that bad, and so far the actual harder parts have had very forgiving checkpoints, letting me start from there and save money at the beginning. It isn't "easy" but there is no reason to be intimidated by it. in fact so far, the hardest part for me has been before I got the shield at the very beginning of the game.

I 1000G'd it last night, it was a really fun doing 1999, only part that was a pain in the arse was the Handyman fights.

Already 1kd but in retrospect, I enjoyed 99 so much the first time I'm gonna do it again.

Funny how some are saying the hard difficulty is harder than 1999.. I actually beat the game on hard, but I didn't select the difficulty from the beginning, I'd actually switched to hard in the very beginning before I'd ever entered Columbia, thinking it might actually count.. Nope.. So I went straight for the 1999 mode, about halfway if not more so and I've had very few problems.

1000 in this game wasn't overly difficult. As long as you cleaned up all the collectables on an easy/normal playthrough you can run past almost half the battles in this game anyways.

I'm doing the collectables on 1999 mode. I don't really see the problem as you have the same amount of time and chances to get them as you'd have on a easy/normal playthrough

Hard has been easy for me. Even then, you can avoid spending money by just reloading as you start to die...but whatever. Should be easy. I've died twice on hard, and one was because the default look sensitivity was way too high lol.

I'm in the process of doing 1999 Mode right now. It's not that bad, you just need to be careful, take cover, and plan ahead. The only parts that have given me real trouble so far are the Handyman fights and the Siren battles, but they seem to have their own workarounds.

I'd say it even helps you because you'll probably need to scrounge around for stuff anyway.

I gotta get the full 1000! Plus whatever the DLCs add. Can't avoid it! Love the games enough to not go for it all.

Got the full 1000 today and I can't wait for the DLC...personally I'm hoping they fill the void that has been left by not having a 'Brass Balls' style achievement...1999 mode without dying...bring it

I just finished 1999 and got 1000 yesterday and honestly...it wasn't all that hard. Do as what others say about taking it slow and wisely choosing upgrades for your play style and you should be fine.

Personally I suggest you check every garbage can, scavenge every corpse etc... I also found it particularly easy if you upgrade Shields and Salts fully, along with fully upgraded sniper and shotgun. Using charge and posession and upgrading those both also is a HUGE advantage to tougher enemies like Siren and combat deck.

To be honest, that's exactly how I played 1999 mode. Every time I died, I instantly reloaded the checkpoint, mostly because I was afraid of not having enough money for the end fight but I beat it in one go and with 7k left. Better to be safe than sorry, I guess.

Just got my 1000g today. Feels great and now I can't wait for DLC. All I want is more Elizabeth, more Songbird, and NO multiplayer add ons. -.-

But, I really enjoyed this game. Wouldn't have stopped at 850g if you paid me. :P

My first run was actually 1999 mode, no machines. And it wasn't too bad except for a few of the endgame boss fights.

I barely upgraded anything too, as I wanted to have all the cash I could. Its not too hard, it was a nice challenge for me but I don't think it was too bad.
