Better than RE6?

I haven't finished RE6 but I do think its an ok game, so is this better? If so to me its worth getting, I watched Michael from RT for about 30 minutes on his new full play but it was just all the learning stuff which is kind of boring lol

Nah res 6 way better bout 10 hours longer and way less back tracking. Revelations is so repetitive and took me 6 hours to finish.

Hands down way better than RE6. RE6 was a total mess and garbage. In RER you got the horror-elements, the soundtrack, the "make-sense" monsters and a "good-to-follow" story, simply the real Resident Evil feeling back from 1996. I'm all happy with this game although I never played the N3DS version.

The highlight for the game for me is the infamous RAID MODE, it's so freaking addictive you can throw Onslaught/Predator/Siege/Predator alltogether away for this!

Oh snap now I've started it, I can already see the haters crying haha...

...but that's just my honest opinion, coming from a ground zero RE fan!

...and really WOW you listen to one guy that say's the game sucks, come on you can do better than that...For the record, I have +29h logged into the game and still enjoying it!!!

...but if you take RE4 in consideration yeah I'd go for that of course!

Yeah it repeats the same areas over and over again and the story is beyond dumb and it's not scary in the slightest. The raid mode is okay but again just repeats. And would like to note I'm a hardcore res evil fan I have played and finished every single one of them.

Ill get RE4 definitely since you's both agree on that, as for revelations does it really feel like the old RE's? 2-3 were my favourite and none have been like it since

Revelations controls like 2 and 3 but it's more like 1 for being pretty much one area the boat looks massive but it feels small in comparison to the size. You do leave it for flashbacks but again it repeats them. I played the 3ds version and Xbox version. I'd consider buying it but wait till it drops in price or even rent it.

eh I'd say the map was a lot like RE2 (Leon and Claire's playthroughs combined) - partially outside, with some repeated areas (similar to the repeated areas of the RPD Station), culminating in a trip to a random lab and then shit starts to blow up. I don't think it was repeated nearly as obnoxiously as RE1 was where you'd visit the same area a million times only to realize you STILL don't have the right key. At least this game put you close to the new areas you can access after getting a key, and made it relatively obvious where those doors are on the map.

It does repeat even the flashbacks do u visit the same areas over and over again till u find the right key. At least resi 2 and 3 had proper zombies and 3 with the awesome nemesis.

I never said it didn't repeat, and I see nothing wrong with new zombies that are quite frankly less stupid than what was in RE4 or 5 and parts of 6. It seemed more like a virus meant for biowarfare than the previous title right down to the basic zombies.

imo, this is a far beter resi than 6.I think with resident evil 4 and 5 they moved away from what made the original games (1,2,3) so good. Personally i thought revelation feels much more like the old school games , hence i prefer it . I dont hate any resident evil im a massive fan , i just prefer the old set up of back tracking and ammo conservation.
Alos raid mode is hands down the best bonus mode for any resident evil game.Awsome but 10,000 enemies is gonna take some time.

I've haven't played the 360 version but I've completed it twice on the 3DS. Its a great game. Alot better than Resident Evil 6 which imo is the worst game of the franchise.

One thing I think this game lacked was a solid chase sequence a-la Nemesis in RE3 or Mr. X in RE2. Even RE6 had Ustanak, which I think was probably my favorite part of that game. Revelations had Rachael, sure, but you were chasing her a lot more than she was chasing you (and the mini-super speed Scagdeads, but they aren't quite as HOLY SHIT SOMETHINGS FUCKING CHASING ME!!!! as the other dudes I mentioned). They kind of touch on it on the higher difficulties, as I mentioned with the mini scagdead, but it's just not the same.

Enemies that put you on the edge of your seat when they aren't even chasing you in the room that you are in are truly awesome imo...and the more I think about it, the more I realize just about every RE game had one of these, except for I think 1 and maybe 5 (can't remember despite the fact that I played through it a ton of times - and getting Indiana Jones'd by a boulder doesn't count). Even ORC had some of these and you're supposed to be the ones doing the chasing in that one.

I enjoyed all the RE titles in the main series, each in their own way.

RE6 has the best Gameplay controls of the bunch, in fact I feel that it has the best 3rd Person Action controls of all games I played period.

I'm loving RE:R for the way the story is presented. Raid Mode is amazing fun & plan on playing it for a long time.

I also highly enjoy Mercs, played it a lot in RE4, loved playing it Co-op in RE5, and RE6 is slightly modified version but still fun to play, especially with the updated controls.

The only problem I have with RE6 is that all the DLC was Multiplayer & I just can't get into it. They should of just made more Campaign content and a ton of Maps for Mercs. Or made Mercs 4P, which I was hoping for over anything Multiplayer.

The only problem I have with RE:R is the Dodge technique & Sprinting, both of which are amazing in RE6. The "B" button should of been a Dodge button & Clicking in the LS should give us a Sprint move, not unlimited, but a quick boost.

I have Pros & Cons for all the RE titles I play, but I still enjoy them all & RE is one of a few franchise I have played for over 15 years & completely enjoy every time I buy a new title.

Fair enough. Well let's leave it at this, some like this over RE6 others prefer RE6 instead. No arguing in that.

RE1: Great. Shoddy voicework, but was groundbreaking at the time for it's graphics and gameplay.
RE2: IMO best of the franchice. Multiple playable characters, a lot of extra mods (4th Survivor etc.)
RE3: Probably the most intense RE in the series. When Nemesis starts chasing... oh boy, you better haul ass.
RE4: Entirely new concept, new camera angle, different enemy type. Wasn't a big fan of the Las Plagas, but it made sense to do something entirely different. Resident Evil isn't about zombies, it's about BOW's. Had great shooting mechanics, epic as fuck cinematic QTE's (Krauser vs. Leon knife battle). That was before the QTE's were still a new thing. Good story and still had the Resident Evil "vibe" without losing it's roots entirely. Also had the "Mercenaries" mod, which was incredibly addicting, and the Handcannon was an awesome reward.
RE5: Basically did EVERYTHING the same as the 4th one. Only difference were the improved graphics. Got more action packed then the last one. Co-op was introduced, which was optional, but the crappy AI partner wasn't worth the headache. Had a LOT of unlockables and such. +10 for having the Sheva native outfit
RE6: What the fuck.

RE:R - Feels like a mix between classic and the new modern RE games. Utilizing the best of both worlds. Shooting mechanics + atmosphere, sound and monster design. Though the lack of RE signature gore and a PG-16 rating is kinda a letdown. But considering that females look like pornstars, it's safe to say, that they were trying to make this game sell well to teens. I hope that the next numbered ResEvil game will be similar, though more gore is sorely needed. Good horror games can't be PG-16.

I haven't played any other RE games that aren't numbered (Wii ones mostly).

There are RE movies too. IMO, the first two live action movies are great (3rd one is decent, should have ended with it). But the others? Stay away from them. CGI ResEvil movies: Degeneration and Damnation are awesome. A must see for any ResEvil fan.

RE4 was the best in the franchise, to my eye. It's hard to beat, and for sure no RE game without Shinji Mikami is going to beat it. RE4 was the perfect mix of in-game economy, resource management, brilliant pacing, surprisingly astute enemy design, plot that takes itself just seriously enough, and a madman's level design.

Yes, it was linear and more about shooting than evading. I seriously don't think that's desecration to the RE name, though - as some people claim. It's just a paradigm shift - a similar game in a completely different setting - and it really works well. The rave reviews at the time and all the HD updates on new consoles speak to how timeless RE4 is. So of course RE:R isn't going to top that. And RE5 really just is RE4 with cooperative in a completely different setting - a brilliant game, but derivative nonetheless.

And then the thing about RE6 isn't that it's necessarily bad. It's got a few interesting enemies and at least competent shooting mechanics. The graphics are also mostly gorgeous. The thing for me was that it lost almost all of its genuine weight for cheap "dramatic" weight. The beginning of Leon's campaign has you and your partner running around a deserted and mostly-infected university. Rather than an interactive in-game environment, this university feels like running around a fragile movie set. You're running down narrow hallways, and the game often rips control away from you for the scripted bump in the night, multiple times. It creates an effective dark atmosphere, but it's just completely devoid of life.

When you do finally get some enemies to fight, they're complete pushovers - the opposite of Ganados and Majini. It's not about shooting them in the knee and then going in for the knife kill. It's about drop kicking them repeatedly or blowing their brains out with a shotgun.

The character mobility doesn't help this at all. They needed to slow it down a little bit and keep the camera strictly behind the player character, a la RE4 and RE5. This creates something that feels deliberate but is still completely functional. Instead, the characters are clumsily sprinting around this deserted movie set and the camera is doing fuckall behind (or in front of) them.

It just all creates weightless, lifeless gameplay.

Additionally, RE6's story took itself way too seriously. There's always been a level of self-deprication in RE's storytelling. The oft-quoted "master of unlocking" almost became a "Jill sandwich" in the first game. "Hope this is not Chris' blood". It was all so silly that it was hard to take seriously, and the developers completely understood this. It translated well into RE4 ultimately. It was a game where the combat was solid enough that you took the game completely seriously in a combat scenario, and the story was well-told and well-paced enough that you completely understood and enjoyed what was happening, but when the characters spoke, they were full of cheesy and memorable one-liners that would be horrible if it didn't show the game's degree of self-awareness. Plus, you had epic moments like the QTE knife fight with Krauser to completely ground all the cheese in the dialogue.

In RE6, everything is serious this, serious that. A viral outbreak is happening, OH NO! We have to save them all, Helena! Chris suddenly completely forgoes his character and backstory and becomes a grungy, hateful man who shouts at his enemies. There's just almost none of the comic relief we've found in almost all the previous entries - characters who really just kind of constantly parody themselves or their stereotypes, etc. It's all super serious, guys, and the closest we come is Jake in RE6.

RE:R, in comparison, has everything RE6 needed to be good. It has deliberate pacing. It has the dark vibe. It has a story that takes itself seriously, but still has a degree of silliness in the characters. The combat doesn't see the heroes suddenly become acrobat kick-boxers, but they still aren't pushovers either. The Queen Zenobia comes to life around you, unlike the drab movie sets of RE6.

Basically, in comparing the two games, Revelations feels like watching a really satisfying movie, while RE6 feels like you're simply exploring the set.

I have to agree with Blaze and disagree with...Pretty much everybody else here.

This game is a perfect marriage of classic Resident Evil map design with modern RE gameplay. I won't deny that it's short, I mean it's a port of a 3DS game, but Raid mode is a great way of extending your time with the game, and a nice break from Mercenaries.

I think the modern RE games each have their own redeeming qualities, RE6 included, but I think what we need next is a game similar to Revelations, except built from the ground up for consoles. Something with larger environments and a much bigger map and more puzzles.

I think Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City wins this award. Although RES6 was Trosh!

Yes the campaign is short but has reply value like all Resident Evil games, RAID mode is where it's at.

I'd say this is better than 6 but not as good as 5 & 4.

WHAT?! You cant be serious? o.O
Even Alan Wake is scarier than the last four RE-Games and Alan Wake is rated USK 16 in Germany like RE Revelations.
And what about Project Zero? This game is rated USK 12 and is imo scarier than all the RE games.

Frankly I had way more fun completing this game rather than RE6 even if it had a lot of flaws, yeah really a lot.

Resident Evil: Revelations is way better than 5 and 6 and Raid mode is excellent (mercs mode was getting boring) With Revelations they just need to fix the run and dodge. Raccoon city game was the worst game for me, just shit in every way.

RE6 was trying to be all things to all people and it never works out as the survival horror does not want another 3rd person shooter and the shooter game does not want atmosphere, horror, slow tense pace, they want to on rails shooting in the 1 second of gameplay, buildings blown up, (basically a Micheal bay film) and RE6 had explosions every 5 minutes or so
