Shocking - man stabbed for his copy

This is truly shocking - sad times in England.

Stabbed, bricked and robbed of his copy.

My thoughts are with him.

I feel there's this type of attack happening at most big, triple-A title launches? Could be just me. Either way, wish that gentleman a speedy recovery.

That's what I thought when I saw it on the news last night.

For that very reason I don't go out at night... don't want to get clubbed with a 4 foot dildo!

Sounds like a typical mugging, only reason it's made the news is because he happened to have a copy of said 'ultra violent' game on his person.

Not GTA related, but the recent shooting in America was blamed on video games. By who? None other than Fox!

No doubt there will be people saying that games = violance, cause there was never a murder before a games console....

Either way, swift recovery to the victim.

Just imagine what they'd have been saying if that shooting had taken place exactly one day later.

The game isn't even worth doing something like that. That's why whenever I go out to get something on craigslist or for something that's highly sought after, I bring my friend and he brings his Machete and his gun

Yeah wouldn't matter if he had a kebab or pizza they would have mugged him for that. And yes it was video games that made the sailor a killer not his military training and nothing to do with him being mentally unstable.

I know it's horrific and all but don't newspapers and the media realise that it's more free advertising for the game and enticing more people to play it.

The same happened with Manhunt (I hadn't really heard of it until the murder of a 17 year old in England).

Rockstar/DMA once paid PR spinster Max Clifford to put articles in the media regarding the controversial violence and the like as a way of more advertising.

Well, at least they can't blame the game's content as neither of them had played it yet.

The fact he had the game is important, but not for the reason the media are giving. As a few people have said, the mugger would have mugged him regardless, whatever he had on him. That being said, if he hadn't gone to a midnight release, he wouldn't have been mugged at 1:30am and so the mugging of some other poor sod wouldn't have made the news.

This is so sensationalist. It happened way after midnight so he was clearly hanging around rather than heading home. I queued up in South east london at a random tesco express and the queue was full of gangsters smoking weed and talking about robbing the store for all the copies but unless your doing something silly then your not gonna get bricked for your copy of a game.

I don't know what is so shocking to you hate to be insensitive but people have killed other people and gained nothing before. What makes this any different but anyways people want the game so bad and get so worked up over it, it kinda makes sense they would kill for it. GTAV has had more of a frenzy about getting the game than the last couple of Cods so it shouldn't come to a surprise someone would stab someone for it.

Even if that were the case (which I very much doubt), it's national news worthy because he had a copy of gta?

I wonder how many people are mugged having just come out of footlocker with a brand new pair of the latest trainers? No idea, guess that shit aint newsworthy...

Video games do not correlate to violence.

Psychological and mental trauma/instability + poor parenting does.

Speak for yourself dude. I climbed up to the top of a bridge this morning and found a rocket launcher and when I came down I drove my car through the front window of a car dealership. I wouldn't have done that on Monday.
