Hip Hop

Any hip hop/rap fans out there? Tried searching this section for any threads that had been created for this genre but couldn't find any. That being said, what are you guys into? Old school, new school?

Right now I'm listening to J Cole's Born Sinner album. It leaked early. It's good stuff.

This boy going to be the saviour, as long as he keeps to what he made quite clear when he first appeared on The X Factor.

His mixtape on HNHH - http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/astro-ak...ape.74887.html

Watch his videos from The X Factor. He is a cocky little fuck, but he can back it up.

I prefer the old school over the new school, but I listen to whatever has a funky beat and that Biggie flow.

I listen to w/e

When I was in high school and used to think I was "mature" I only listened to old school rap and say "r3aL h1p h0p". With that said, I like Wale's new album. Maybe people will start taking him serious now. Cole's album was pretty boring to me. The guy really is dull and brings nothing new to the table. Once you heard a Cole song, you've heard his entire catalog. Also, Drake dropped two new songs on Friday. Really anticipating his album. Drake and Kendrick Lamar are right now the current twin towers of hip hop.

Check out Joey Bada$$ btw. He has that 90's feel.

El-P and Killer released a free album a week ago titled Run The Jewels. It can be downloaded for free via their website. It's a free legal download so no need to delete my post.

Edit: Joey Bada$$ released his second mixtape. You can check datpiff.

There's plenty of hip hop i like but mostly the older stuff from early 90s to early noughties. I'll be checking out some of the names in this thread as i keep an open mind to music as much as possible and it's easy to miss out by being a snob.
I tend to go for lyricism over beats, although if the beat is weak i won't be waiting to hear what's spat.

I used to dig Murs when he did Murs rules the world then the end f the beginning which are both good albums. Once he did the album with 9th wonder i felt he fell off lyrically and was happy to do the same old same old everyone else was at that time.

'Like what' was a great cruising tune in the summer. Pile some people in the car, turn up the sub Good times

Speaking of...

I've only gotten into hip hop over the last few months.

I'll just leave this here and disappear...

(I was considering whether to post this here or on that thread where the guy was looking for 90s sounding rappers, but that was down the bottom of the page, so...)

When we arenth busy arguing over stupid shit you actually get to know some new shit

Just to promote Swedens beautiful scene ill drop some more artists, sadly most my favs are just dropping songs in swedish. Maybe i can create some buzz and give these artists a chance to get played at new venues

Lootroop are the most known swedish rappers when it comes to english.

Old gem, this is the kind of hiphop i listened to way back around 2000

Split swedish/english, this is from 2002 or something. Punchline rap deluxe

The guy that dropped the english verses from the song above a few years later

Just adding this in. GURU R.I.P :/ Swedish legends paying homage

Yes, I am. I'm into Christian hip-hop/rap, so it's not necessarily old school or new school. My favorite rappers are Bizzle, Bumps INF, Flo, Selah The Corner, Willie "P-Dub" Moore Jr., Datin, Gemstones, Braille, Odd Thomas, Eshon Burgundy, and Propaganda. My favorite rap groups are Defeat The Beast, Beautiful Eulogy, and Forever Life Boys.

Well I also listen only the old school like :

Run DMC
Bone Thugs N Harmony
Cypress Hill
Public Enemy
Boo Yaa Tribe
2Pac
Ice Cube
Mack 10
Ice T
Coolio
Big Pun
Dr Dre
Eazy E
Redman
Nas
DMX
House of Pain

But honestly today when I see a new generation of "rappers" and what people consider by "Hip Hop" I want to puke......

I really can not stand those stuffs like : Kanye West, Florida, Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy, Drake and others.........really horrible.

By the looks of it, I'm guessing no body on here likes Drake but fuck it, he just released a new song and it has a very 70s/80s feel to it and a great way to end the summer. Can't wait for NWTS.

GTA 5 and NWTS on the same day

Drake and Kendrick Lamar are currently the twin towers of hip hop.

Hell, I don't mind lyrics in languages I don't understand. I think it adds an extra element of awesomeness for people who're curious enough to look up translations, like me. Thank you for sharing all that music with us. :-)

What did everyone think of Kendrick Lamar calling out pretty much everyone in the rap game with his verse on "Control?" Guys used to drop lines like that all the time, so I don't get what the big deal is outside of calling yourself "King of NY" while living in LA.

Growing up, I listened to a lot of Wu-Tang Clain and Outkast. Most of the new stuff I have been listening to is along the lines of El-P, Killer Mike, P.O.S., Murs, etc.

I like a lot of 90s rap but I fucking hate when people are like "I LISTEN 2 REAL HIP HOP MAINSTREEM RAP IS SUKKKX!!!! SOMEONE PLZ SAVE HIPHOP BRING HIPHOP BACK" any rapper or fan like that is a fag4lyfe.
Main reason why I cannot tolerate Funk Volume or Pro Era rappers.

I listen to a lot of rap but what I mainly keep on replay is stuff like Schoolboy Q, Wu-Tang (as far as solo goes, mainly just Ghost and Rae), A$AP Ferg, Kendrick Lamar, Juicy J, Jay Z, Freddie Gibbs, MF DOOM, Gucci Mane, Kanye West, Joey Fatts, Cam'ron, Domo Genesis, A$AP Rocky, Spaceghostpurrp, Flatbush Zombies, Nas, Outkast, Clipse (as well as a lot of Pusha T's solo material, although it's been a little disappointing at times), Ab-Soul, Robb Bank$, Smoke DZA, Travi$ Scott, Roc Marciano, Dr. Dre, Vince Staples, Da$h, Tyler, Drake, Action Bronson, and 100s.

He is not popular as Drake nor Tyler the Creator but is just below Tyler's radar.

He had beef with Tyler. Not sure f he still does.

This guys sounds like a mix of Drake and Kendrick... not in a good way. But there might be people out there that might like him.
