Achievement Guide and Road Map

Unobtainable/glitched achievements?: None

Introduction:
Welcome to my Ugly Americans: Apocolypsegeddon achievement guide! If you are a fan of the show Ugly Americans you will definitely enjoy this twin stick shooter. As the writers of the show have penned this game all of the humor of the show has made it into the game as well. As one of 4 characters from the show; Mark, Callie, Leonard and Grimes you are charged with saving the world from a demon rock star and stopping the End of Days. Each character has different stats and attacks that they favor adding a bit of flavor to tried and true twin stick shooter genre. Callie, Leonard and Grimes all feel pretty powerful when you pair them up with the right weapons while Mark always feels like a support character.

This game is a pretty easy 200 and doesn't feature any achievements that are too difficult to earn. There are a few collectibles including many weapons and 8 hidden case files but it's not too overwhelming at all and they should all come pretty easily if you're exploring the levels.

The only real caveat I feel I should mention is once you hit the max level of 60 you will lag hardcore in multiplayer and offline games(Thanks waxc3 for mentioning it happens offline as well). It's easy enough to switch to a different character for multiplayer, but if you hit level 60 for all characters be prepared for a lot of lag. So without further ado, enjoy the guide!

Achievement Guide:

Embrace Diversity - 25G
Complete the game in an Xbox LIVE multiplayer session.

Embrace Diversity requires you to complete each level of the game over Xbox-Live with another player. This cannot be a second controller as the game recognizes that you are on the same Xbox. You don't have to complete them in order or even with the same character but you do have to finish out the level, it won't count if the other person in the room leaves.

See You in Hell - 25G
Complete the game using any character.

Simply complete the game as the achievement states. There are 11 cases(levels) in the game and some will give you some issues if you aren't familiar with how the game plays or you are under-leveled. Case 5 in particular was rough for slower characters as the part right in front of the movie theater has many waves of very fast demons who will eat at your life very quickly if you can't out maneuver them. Callie is your best bet here if you are playing solo.

Just some general tips for playing any character, always keep moving preferably backwards so enemies are running into your bullets. If you can't run backwards try to do circles around the enemies. I also found that the homing or area of effect weapons were best for all but the boss levels as you can focus more on moving and less on aiming. If you're having trouble finishing a level without dying you can always level up a bit in a previous level or jump into an online game and try to complete it with some extra help.

We Don't Need No Magic - 30G
Complete all levels without using special attacks.

Completing all levels without using special attacks may seem difficult, but when you're leveled up and have all the best weapons (namely the demon head) it really isn't necessary to use your special attack at all. Just run through each level without activating a special attack and the achievement will pop. It has been confirmed that you can have a friend in co-op use special attacks without it affecting your achievement. (Thanks neeker75)

Demons, The Bane Of My Existence - 20G
Locate and collect all of the Demon Babies.

There are 4 Demon Babies you can find randomly throughout the game after you find Dante in the trash bag at the beginning of level 5. Once you you've found Dante you'll know a Demon Baby will be found in a level if you see Dante's head on the case file in the mission select screen. When this happens the baby will spawn inside one of the destructible items like garbage cans, benches, potted trees, etc. Dante(red), Thorpal(purple), Phoebe(green) and Gustav(yellow) are VERY small and easy to miss if you aren't looking carefully.

It's the Collector! - 20G
Collect all the projectiles.

Here is a list of the levels and what weapons you can find on them. In addition to those weapons, there are four that you receive for picking up the final four hidden case files. There are hidden case files stashed in environmental destructible objects on all levels(garbage cans, hotdog carts, potted trees, mailboxes, etc) with the exception of the boss fights in cases 4,8 and 11. They spawn randomly so you won't find a hidden case file every time you complete a level, don't get discouraged if you miss them on your first couple times through. You can tell which levels you have hidden case files collected for by highlighting the case on the case select screen and if there is a file folder icon in the bottom left corner of the case file then you have that level's hidden file.

You can also have another player drop the weapons they are using if you need it, you don't need to complete the level to save either, just picking up the weapon gives you credit for having it.

Liquor Bottle (5th hidden case file)
Zombie Arms (6th hidden case file)
Demon Head (7th hidden case file)
Wedding Cake (8th hidden case file)

Case 1:
Baseball
Paint Can
Hammer
Snow Globe

Case 2:
Baseball
Boomerang
Propane Tank
Crystal Ball

Case 3:
Baseball
Dumbbell
Golf ball
Model Rocket

Case 4:
None

Case 5:
Baseball
Golf Ball
Crystal Ball
Snow Globe
Hammer (only ever found 1 hammer in the level)

Case 6:
Bowling Ball
Knife
Kerosene Lamp
Chicken

Case 7:
Letter Opener
Demon Teeth
Wrench
Spell Book

Case 8:
Kerosene Lamp
Harpoon
Knife
Spell Book

Case 9:
Mating Bone
Desk Lamp
Harpoon
Hairspray

Case 10:
Salt Shaker
Fire Extinguisher
Gas Can
Magic 8-Ball

Case 11:
Magic 8-Ball
Salt Shaker
Mating Bone

My New Favorite Number - 15G
Defeat 50 enemies in a row without getting hit.

I thought for sure that this achievement would be the hardest in the game but it really isn't. If you follow my general advice listed under See You In Hell! you should have it on the first or second level. If you are having difficulties try running through the second level as the zombies there are pretty slow and you shouldn't encounter anyone shooting projectiles at you.

Repeat, Repeat, Repeat - 10G
Use any special attack 100 times.

Simply use any special attack 100 times just load level 1 or 2, sit on the first screen where there aren't any enemies and keep casting special attacks with the until the achievement pops. Leonard paired with Demon Baby Gustav seems to be the best choice for this as he has the highest innate special attack recharge and Gustav just makes it better.

Wakey, Wakey, Eggs and Bakey! - 10G
Resuscitate 50 allies.

This achievement can be done either online in co-op or locally with a second controller. Best bet is to load up a guest account and either run them continuously into the lava fountains in the later levels or load up a boss fight and let the boss kill your spare character and just keep reviving them with the button.

Keep These Bad Boys Comin' - 15G
Rack up a 20 score multiplier.

You just need to get up to a 20x score multiplier by defeating enemies while minimizing the amount of times you are hit. Each time you are hit the meter decreases a bit. Almost any level should net you this achievement if you are good at avoiding hits, the best is probably level 2 for the decent amount of enemies and ease of avoiding them. If level 2 is no good for you try level 3, there are more enemies but it's harder to avoid being hit by all the projectiles.

Put Your Cheeks Into It! - 10G
Kill 1000 Manbirds.

Simply kill 1000 Manbirds, these are Humanoid enemies with bird heads and wings. You should have enough kills by the time you finish the story but if you don't, the best places to grind Manbird kills are levels 1 and 6.

Dirty Leg Draggers... - 10
G
Kill 300 Zombies.

Just kill 300 zombies, one of the few places you will find them is Case 2. It shouldn't take more than two runs through this case to get enough kills, so don't worry about it as you will likely get it while trying to get the hidden case file here.

No Loitering! - 10G
Kill 5000 Demons.

Killing 5000 demons can take a while, luckily they are found in almost every level and in great quantities. Anything other than a manbird or zombie is classified as a demon which is more than 75% of the enemies in the game. If you don't have this achievement by the time you are done with every other achievement I find the best places to grind are Cases 3 or 5 as the enemies there have a lot less health than their counterparts in the later cases.

Level 60 lag is equally terrible in offline play as well (at least with Callie from what we've seen)

Thanks for the kind words guys, this is my first guide and I hope it turns out well. I'll prolly skim through it in a few days to check for any grammar mistakes and to add any addition info that people post before submitting it to the guide team.

I added that info and credited you with it. I have all characters at level 60 so I'll run through some levels with each of them offline and online to see if they all lag or if it is indeed just callie offline. If you want to level everyone up quickly play the 8th level and use the demon head weapon and the exp demon baby and you can have all characters to level 60 in under an hour lol.

My level 60 character is Leonard so i think it lags with all character. But it doesnt lag if i play offline so i think its some problem related to the unlock of the level 60 avatar award or some connection problem.

You need to obtain 7 of the 8 secret case files that appear in all non-boss levels.

It doesnt matter which order you get the secret case files, just the number of them that you obtain.

Or secondly, you could ask somebody to pick up another weapon and you could get it from them.

You can actually tell where the demon babies are hiding, since the item (trashcan etc) they are hiding in, shakes every 4-5 seconds. And you don't have to carry the one you find to the end of level, just pick it up, and switch back to the one you were carrying if you prefer.

Nice guide by the way! Well written and easy to understand

Do you have to be host to get "Embrace Diversity"?

I've done all levels with 2 players or more, but it didn't unlock.

Someone did leave the game in some sessions, but all sessions were completed with at least one other player.

As far as I am aware you do not have to be host. I was not host on all the levels I did online and got the achievement when I expected to. When you played online and had someone drop was another online player still in the room or was it a local co-op player still there?

I'm sure it's another player, because I've not played local co-op for this game.

Nevertheless, I hosted and re-did, and it popped after Level 9.

Also, TS, for "We Don't Need No Magic - 30G", it can be unlocked in a co-op session with a friend using special attacks to help out. As long as the person getting the achievement doesn't use the special throughout, it should unlock. I solo 1-10, but kept dying at 11. I hosted a game and someone used his special attacks to help kill the boss, and I unlocked the achievement this way.
