Morph Eye Guide (and Galactic Explorer Help)

Flashback Morph Eye Guide

Introduction: For the most part, the Morph Eyes are incredibly easy to find in this game especially given the Molecular Goggles. For those of you that are OCD type completionists like I am, then you'll want to pick all of these up so I'm just going to make it easier for you. It's been a while since I did a guide of any sort, so I may be a bit rusty in some cases, but I finally had three days off in a row and needed something to occupy my time. This guide will also help you in a couple of tricky spots in order to get the Galactic Explorer achievement. Given that there is no achievement for finding all the Morph Eyes, at least this guide can still help you get at least one achievement.

There were (and are) quite a few complaints about the glitchiness of this game but given the nostalgia level alone for me still made this a hell of a fun game for me to play. Flashback was the last game I played killing some time on my Sega Genesis back in 1993 while I waited for my beginning date to take off for boot camp for the Marine Corps.

Enjoy the game and the guide! Semper Fi!

Titan Jungle

1 - Just above where you picked up the gun. You will pass it on the way down.

2 - Just after picking up the Holocube, it will be on the far right end of the map immediately after dropping down one platform.

3 - Just to the right of the bridge that is fed by the sap.

4 - To the left of the reporter and the Molecular Glasses, go up to the highest platform and look high above you to find it hiding up there. (Use the Molecular Glasses if you can't see it)

5 - This is straight above the elevator that the transporter is on.

6 - In the area just below where you get the transporter, to the left of the long elevator.

7 - In the large area with the sentry gun, directly to the right of the smaller, upper platform.

8 - This is on the level just above the recharge station, just after you've gone up the long elevator to collect the red fruit for Joe.

9 - Step on the platform that you have to activate to move it to the right and you'll see this eye straight above you. You may have to start the platform moving and shoot back to your left to get it.

10 - Stand on the platform above the recharge station at the far end of the map and this one will be right there.

New Washington

Asia Station

1 – Just after you come out from under the tunnel you dropped through, look high up above your head. It is very hard to see without the Molecular Glasses.

2 – Go all the way to the right and you’ll see this one right over your head.

3 – Go to the right past Ian and shoot the grate in the floor before the elevator. Go down one level and it will be to your right on the ceiling just above the recharge station.

4 – At the top of the elevator, go to the left and take the other, short elevator to the top floor. Go all the way to the right in the Spaceport and this one will be on the ceiling next to the shuttle.

5 – When you enter the area where the train picks you up, quickly shoot across the tracks to the ceiling on the other side to get this one. You can’t get it once the train gets there, so if the train shows up before you get it, run back out and take the elevator back up to the upper floor and then return again to reset the train.

America Station

6 – At the very top room on the right where you pick up the Memory Flash, you’ll find this one tucked into the ceiling on the right side of the room. It can be very easily missed without the Molecular Glasses.

7 – This one is on the ceiling just to the left of the bar.

Europa Station

8 – At the very top of the station, go to the right into the entrance to Death Tower. This one is on the ceiling directly behind the woman you need to give the papers to later.

9 – This one is actually inside the transporter in the Transportation Room right below the machines in the Work Center where you pick up your jobs.

Africa Station

10 – As soon as you enter Restricted Area 2, look up and to the right to see this one high up on the ceiling.

11 – Once you have taken the elevator down to the lower floor, go to the uppermost part of the area to find this morph eye.

Generator

This mission is timed, so I recommend reading through this first and making a couple of practice runs through the level. It is also important to note that you will have to run to the far ends on either side of the generator itself in order to have “explored” the entire map to obtain the Galactic Explorer achievement. The lightly shaded area above the generator I have on my map does appear on the in game map but it does NOT have to be explored and does NOT count against the Galactic Explorer achievement.

12 – While this shows in the very first block of the generator level, in order to get to it you have to run all the way across to the right side of the map, drop down and all the way back across to the left again and drop down again. The eye will be right there in the hole with you. Try to shoot the eye before you shoot the grate in the floor beneath your feet.

13 – This one is difficult to spot, especially when you are in a hurry. Once you are on this level, run all the way across to the far right side. When you cross an elevator, instead of taking it down, jump to the right over the two electrical traps in the floor. Immediately turn to face the left and shoot whatever enemies are coming at you. Equip your Molecular Glasses and look as far up and left as you can and you’ll see the eye hanging from the ceiling above.

14 – Once on the same level with the generator, head to the left and look straight up just as there are no longer flashing lights on the wall to find this eye.

America Station

15 – Be very careful to get this morph eye while you are here as you can’t come back to this area later. You can kill the enemy down here before you get the morph eye, but if you do, DO NOT pick up the item that he drops until you go and get the eye, otherwise the level will end and you won’t be able to come back.

Europa Station

16 – Once you have dropped down to the bottom of the first section, head to the left and look straight up with the Molecular Goggles. This morph eye is directly above the first hole in the floor, right where you move from one block to the next on the mini-map.

17 – This is in the three tier area that has a couple of enemies and usually some upgrades. The morph eye is in the lower right section of the tiers. (Be sure to climb both sides of the tiers and walk up to the walls to claim the areas as “explored” for the Galactic Explorer achievement.

18 – The last morph eye for this level is in the last three tier area with the final enemy. As with the last job, you can kill the last enemy before you get the eye as long as you DO NOT pick up the item he drops beforehand. The last eye is on the top tier of the area on the right side.

Death Tower

1 – This one is real easy to miss. As soon as this level begins, turn and go all the way to the left. Equip your Molecular Goggles and look straight up as high as you can. You will just see the morph eye on the ceiling high above you.

2 – This one is also easy to miss. This eye is high up on the ceiling behind some breakable panels. The easiest way to get it is to go to the block on the mini-map to the right of it and climb up onto the higher level. Equip the Molecular Goggles and aim to the left as far as you can see. Shoot the breakable wall and then shoot the eye on the other side of it.

3 – This eye is in between the purple walls just to the left of the sentry gun, all the way at the top.

4 – Near the beginning of Level 3, on the left side will be a door and one of those fun little tubes to throw a grenade through. (There seriously needs to be a sarcasm font) Throw a grenade through the tube being careful with your timing because of the hatch that opens and closes on the other side of the tube. The hatch “almost” opens, then closes again, and then it opens, repeating this process. Once you have blown up a grenade near the post on the other side, the door will open. Enter this area and look straight up to find the morph eye.

5 – You can’t see this one at all without the Molecular Goggles as it is inside the big “Death Tower” sign. Shoot the breakable wall to enter in behind the sign and the eye will be at the far right end.

6 – As you near the left end of this area, you’ll find a VR Access high up on the ceiling. If you are standing on the left side of that platform, activate your Molecular Goggles and look to the left. You’ll see the eye on the ceiling right next to a laser mine that you can’t see without the goggles.

7 – Right as you begin Level 5, you’ll see a Grenade Dispenser directly above the elevator you came up on. The morph eye is right there with the Grenade Dispenser, for a change, you almost can’t miss it.

8 – As soon as you get to Level 6, head to the left until you can climb onto the platform above you then climb up and go back to the right as far as you can go. The morph eye is right there hanging from another platform.

9 – As soon as you get to Level 7, head straight up and look to the right. You’ll see the morph eye on your right through one of those tubes. You need to throw a grenade through the tube to destroy the morph eye.

10 – The last eye is at the very top of Death Tower. You’ll have to shoot through the breakable floors and around the enemies to get to it. Make sure you get it before you finish with the final boss or you may miss the opportunity and need to play the whole mission again.

Earth - Spaceport

1 – The first morph eye in this level is right where you begin. As soon as you dispense with the guard that wants to take you away, look on the ceiling directly over the head of the guy behind the desk to find the eye.

2 – There are two ways to get to the next eye. You can either ride down on the roof of the elevator that the guards are taking up and down (if you’ve managed to sneak past the guards via the over head tunnels) and hop off the elevator to the left as it nears the bottom. Then avoid the lasers and take the tunnel down to the bottom level. When you reach the bottom, the eye is just to your left at the very end. You can just barely see it without the Molecular Goggles. Your other option if you are choosing the more direct, violent route, is to just take the elevator to the lower floor. Once you clear the enemies in that room, use the Molecular Goggles to find the weak spot in the floor that you can shoot open and drop down into the tunnel. Then just head to the far left end to get the eye.

3 – The third morph eye is directly above the exit door on this lower level. If you end up outside, you have gone too far.

4 – The next eye is fairly easy to find. Once you are outside, you’ll have to jump across the roof of a car. The eye is underneath the platform that you land on after jumping from the first car, just before the recharge unit.

5 – You should see the last eye just as you jump across the roof of the second car. Drop down one level and face it and you can squeeze a bullet in between the platform it hangs from and the banner that is blocking it. If you have trouble getting it this way, you can drop down below and shoot up to it.

Earth - Paradise Club/Prison

1 – The first eye is just outside the club. When you bring the elevator down so you can shoot out the window to enter the club, ride the elevator back up and you’ll be standing face to face with the morph eye.

2 – The next eye is just below the top floor of the left side of the club. You must approach it from below because you can’t get to it from the top floor that it is attached to. The guard or guards will be walking on the floor right above it.

3 – The next eye is a bit tricky. As you make your way across the club on the platforms, you’ll end up racing some laser beams coming up from the main floor that will kill you instantly if they make contact. Focus on getting across the club and through the window on the other side, but DO NOT jump off the platform just inside the window in either direction. Should you actually live and jump down off to the right, you can’t get back up on this ledge. From this platform, look back out over the main room of the club and slightly up. You’ll see the eye hanging there. Shoot from the platform, don’t attempt to go back out onto the elevator as the game seems to want you to die whether the laser beams are there or not.

4 – You should see the next one pretty easily. As you descend to the ground floor, you’ll see it on the left just above the head of a holographic dancing girl.

5 – The next one is nearby and also fairly easy as long as you use the Molecular Goggles. When you reach the ground floor, head to the left and just as you pass through the door into the main room, the eye will be right above your head.

6 – Once you are down in the lower area, head to the right. When you see “Sector 01” on the wall, look straight up just to the left of that sign and you’ll see the eye high up on the ceiling.

Prison

7 – As soon as you have your gun back, return to the cell that you were locked in and jump up into the hole in the ceiling. The next morph eye will be right there in front of you.

8 – Just after using your teleporter for the first time, head to the end of that level and shoot up through the grate instead of going down just yet. It’s very dark in here so use your Molecular Goggles and you won’t be able to miss the morph eye on the level above. Be careful of the mine.

9 – After you use your teleporter again to reach the lower area, get on the elevator you’ll find to your immediate right and ride it back up to the top again. The next morph eye will be right in front of you above the switch that will activate the door there.

10 – Take the elevator from the previous eye back down. Head to the left, drop down one level and then head to the right. After you pass the VR Access machine, you find the next morph eye at the end of this hall, right in front of you.

11 – Before entering the next room to confront Ian, head as far as you can to the left in this area. In the upper left corner, to the left of the fan in the wall, is the next morph eye.

12 – As you get near the end of the level and you reach the point where you have to blast through 2 glass walls to reach the end, manage to get yourself on the platform between the last 2 laser beams. (Behind what appears to be 2 pipes is a safe spot) Look in the upper left corner (It will be just to the right of where the left hand laser beam stops) and you’ll see your last morph eye on Earth.

1 – After going to the right at the beginning of the level, hop up and defeat the first enemy. When he is gone, go to the far right end of the platform he was on and look to the right with your Molecular Goggles. You’ll see the morph eye hanging above another platform.

2 – Head down to the level of the door that you opened when you defeated the first enemy. Instead of going right through the door, turn around and go left. You’ll find the morph eye right there in front of you.

3 – After you use the “magnetic” device to move the piece of platform out of the way, as soon as you pass through the opening it creates, look straight up at the high ceiling above and you will see the morph eye up there.

4 – Immediately after killing the next enemy and passing through the door he was guarding, you’ll see the next morph eye above you on the same platform with the recharge station.

5 – (You can reverse the order of #5 and #6 if you want, I just prefer to get this out of the way first) Head to the left to go to the terminal that you are eventually going to be taking the professor to. Defeat the enemy over there and climb up to the switch that will open the door. The morph eye is hanging just above the switch.

6 – When you are down below to release the professor, the morph eye is hanging just above the switch that will drop the elevator back down if it is up above (Second level on the left). You’ll pass it on the way up to use the switch to open to doors to release the professor.

7 – You’ll move an elevator out of your way and use your teleporter to get to the bottom. Once down there, head to the left and activate a switch that will open a door. The morph eye is just inside the tiny area that the door allows you access to.

8 – When you reach the top of the pit where you have to go down and get the key, there is a platform hanging above it with a recharge station on it. The morph eye is hanging to the left of this platform.

9 – On your way down into the pit, 2 layers below where the elevator is, look to your right to see the next morph eye.

10 – After using the “magnetic stones” to move the rock to the left and destroy the stuff that is blocking your path, as soon as you roll through the small opening you created, look straight up to see the morph eye hanging above you.

11 – The next morph eye is hanging just above the switch that you have to put the key in.

12 – (I like to go ahead and get this one out of the way) Go past the area where you have to stand in the ring and make the platform move around and look high up on the ceiling. You’ll see the morph eye hanging up there next to a red fruit. Note: There are two blocks of the map below you here that you probably haven’t explored yet and at this point in the story, you can’t get to them. Take note of them, however, because we will come back here later.

13 – After you have climbed up the platform that you rotated into place, climb up 2 levels and move to the right side and look up. You’ll see the next morph eye hanging in a little alcove there. You can use the transporter to get up to the platform near it but it isn’t necessary.

14 – When you reach the first switch that will drop an elevator down, take it up to the top and head to the left. There will be an enemy ahead standing on a short platform. The morph eye is hanging right there in the spot that the enemy is guarding. Defeat the enemy and grab the eye.

15 – You’ll come to an area where you have to shoot a platform and make it move across some laser beams so you can walk beneath it to get to the door on the other side. Once you pass through the door, drop down to the bottom of the area and you’ll notice a block of map that you can’t seem to access. Equip your Molecular Goggles and roll once through the wall on the right and stop there. Use a red fruit and toss it into the switch to open the access to the area where you can, by now, see the morph eye hanging. Now just toss your teleporter in and shoot the morph eye. Toss your teleporter out to get back out. There, that was more of a pain in the ass than it needed to be, wasn’t it? You’ve also now got this spot marked off on your map for your Galactic Explorer achievement. Special thanks to Pp79 at xbox360achievements.org for letting me know how to get there!

16 – After destroying the Auxiliary Brain, you’ll toss your transporter down into a hole to move on. You’ll end up on a door with a switch right next to it. The switch will open the door and the morph eye is right there in your face over the switch. (After this, you’ll end up over those two spots on that map that you haven’t accessed yet. You still can’t get there. Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten, we’ll get there.)

17 – You’ll now have to cross all the way back across the map to the left side. It is mostly a flat run except for the pit that you have to jump over, but when you finally get to the end, you’ll have to jump up to get to an elevator. Before going down the elevator, look to the right of it to see the next morph eye.

18 – If you are like me and you keep your Molecular Goggles on 90% of the time, you’ll see the next two morph eyes as you ride the long elevator down to the bottom. When you get off the elevator, move slightly to the right and climb up one level to get the next morph eye.

19 – Continue to climb up from the last eye until you reach the next eye on the left side of this area. You’ll need to use the teleporter once to get up to the platform with the recharge station on it, but otherwise it’s a pretty straightforward climb.

20 – The next block to the right after destroying the Ultra-mind, you’ll have to climb up to move forward. When you get to the top of this area, you’ll see the morph eye hanging just to the left of you when you reach the highest platform.

21 – On the way down to drop the Neurophage and essentially begin the “final countdown” sequence to end the game, there will be a morph eye hanging from the ceiling on the very lowest platform of the level, just to the right after you drop down to it and before you use the transporter to pass through the laser beam.

DON’T DROP THE NEUROPHAGE YET!!!

Remember those two map squares I’ve brought up a couple of times? It’s time to go get them. Run yourself back up to the door that will open so you can board the shuttle and escape the planet before it explodes. It will be the one other block that you haven’t “explored” yet and it is just to the right of the two blocks you are trying to get. At this point, there should be a hole in the bridge over those two blocks just before you get to that doorway. Sometimes it is there, sometimes it isn’t. At this point, nobody that I have found knows what or why that hole even opens up except that sometimes there will be an upgrade down there. As with many other things in this game, it could just be glitchy as hell. If the hole is not there, I have found what works for me is just to reload the last checkpoint. At some point, it will eventually open up and allow you to explore those two squares so you can get the Galactic Explorer achievement. (Once again, thanks to Pp79 for the assist on this!) Also, while you are here, use your Molecular Goggles to get a good look at where the very last morph eye is located as you’ll have to get this one fast on your way out. It is just inside the doorway that will open so you can board the shuttle. As you stand on the cliff ready to throw the neurophage in, your statistics should show 21/22 Morph Eyes, 98% Level Exploration, 99% World Exploration.

22 – Just inside the doorway that opens so you can board the shuttle. Shoot it quickly before ending the game.

Splendid ! What a work ! ^^
For the "Galactic Explorer" achievement you just have to visit all the squares of the maps (less the one in generator).

Thanks, everybody! Yes, ilution, the Galactic Explorer achievement is pretty straightforward, but this guide will help you with the only issues you might have in getting it.

I have explored each map as much as I could - every square is marked as "visited". Just before throwing that red fruit my stats said: "Level exploration: 99%" "World Exploration 83%"
What could I possibly miss ? Does the VR room counts towards Galactic Explorer?

No, the VR room is not required to get the achievement and if you are missing 16% of the world, you're not missing a couple squares somewhere, you are missing something HUGE!!

Oh well, thanks anyway. I don't feel like starting a new game at any difficulty for I have completed it so many times and it got a bit boring). Well, my strategy is to complete every level (or a part of it e.g. New Washington) and marking the squares I've visited on a piece of paper. According to my documentation I am sure I have visited every square of each map. This sounds like a glitch to me. Well, it wouldn't be a suprise, for the whole game seems to be unfinished.

There's one square on the right side of the generator map that doesn't count towards the achievement, so don't worry about that one.

I'm in prison right now. I've explored everything (My map's all blue) yet it says I have 97% Level exploration... Why? What am I missing. This is my 4th playthrough, so I don't want to play through the game another time.
