NES chat!

so recently i picked up an NES after searching for ages for a cheap enough one.

whenever i found one on eBay, it was at 20, but in the last few minutes it would jump to nearly 50...just for a standard with mario/duck hunt.

well i got mario/duckhunt with gun console, gauntlet 2 and super mario 3 for 35 at playexpo in manchester!

i have now got a small range of games in my NES collection, including ducktales, digger t rock, marble madness, TMNT, and even found myself a complete in box mega man 4 for very cheap.

this made me raise a question, what do other people have?

personally i find it very hard to find NES games in the UK, its only at expo's im able to find loads, but a store? my closest is over 35 miles away

so where do you also find your NES titles?

you know just a general discussion about it all !

I mostly find all my NES games (and other retro games) online, or random Second Hand shops around town/out of town. Currently sitting at 201 games for the NES. Surprisingly, it's the same NES that my parents got back the year I was born, in 1986.

Here's the most recent pic of my collection of NES games. This was taken a few weeks ago. Think I was sitting at 195ish or so.

Yeah, that's the Power Pad. I honestly don't even know if it still works. Might have to actually hook it up one of these days and see.

Unless you're looking to collect the older stuff, you could just use emulators. I use emulators but I own hundreds of NES and SNES games, it's just a pain in the ass to get them to work on the machines. Plus the controllers back then are simply to small or I have giant hands lol so using a 360 controller on pc via emulation is definitely a plus.

I'm the same. I like emulators, but I love the sound and feel of the actual game. I get lucky a lot with the games I buy; I pick up a lot of lots on eBay or Shopgoodwill.com.

I like having the physical stuff too, but emulators are the way to go for me. I just don't want a bunch of systems hooked up, plus I have a control I hook up to the USB port anyway, so it makes it kind of feel like I'm playing the actual system.

i have other stuff on the way to me from ebay which i won!

donkey kong classic
rad racer
captain skywalk
tiger heli

not exactly fantastic games, but still rather cheap at donkey kong being the most at 10

I have probably 100 or so games, all games I've owned 20-25 years. I've been meaning to replace a few games I love, and either lost...or never bought. I have another 10 or so I'd like to pick up at some point.

Got these over the last few weeks

Not all good games, but I've been looking for some shooter style games that are like bullet hell shooters.

Rad racer is boxed aswell just easier with out the box to take the picture

Like seeing what other people pick up, and for how much. Always like to compare to my findings, yanno?

I'm a lil bummed, I haven't been able to pick up anything in some time. Got a lot of crap happening in my personal life, and money's been a bit tight. I think my best score ever, would happen to be this:

Picked it all up from a second hand game shop here for about 35 bucks. Boxes were all in near perfect condition, and some of them even had the instructions/inserts in them. Hopefully here in a month or two I can start collecting again.

Dammnnnn both Zelda games!

If I find the first Zelda, it's usually a ridiculous price

I'd love a copy...

Also, the rest are pretty darn cool too!

Awesome stuff.

I'm assuming they are those game cases you mentioned in the SNES chat? They look very presentable.

Going to order a whole bunch after Christmas.

(( no point ordering now, or I won't get them till late January due to the post slow down haha ))

Yeah bud, they're pretty awesome, but you have to mod them by cutting out some plastic tabs to fit a NES cart. For me, they're hard to mod quickly without messing/scuffing them up a bit or maybe it's just because I don't have a steady hand with the dremel. If I mod a lot of cases at one sitting I do a much better job on the last few after I've warmed up.

One I scuffed up a little, but it's not a big deal to me.

I'll take them off your hands

I mean without the box they're just another game right haha

But seriously.

I'm looking for the first mainly around, everywhere I keep seeing it, it's like 50 and I refuse to pay that amount for 1 game, I don't mind if it's in a bundle per say, but not alone!

Every time I see that I have an expensive game I become torn between whether I want to keep it because it's awesome, or whether I want to sell it because it's expensive.

Really the Zelda games are that much? I had like 5 copies of each but sold most of them. Now I just have one set boxed and one loose. Nes games are taking a back burner to me right now. Haven't bought one in ages.

For sure, I liked them too when I first saw them in a youtube collection vid. Only bummer about them for you is that your collection will take up more space.

Sweet super scope 6 man! I remember playing that back in the day.

But the plus to them being in those boxes is that there is less chance of damage and also no eye straining to see the titles

Got these through this morning!

Yes I've already got mario/duck hunt and mario 2.

But both of those are in better condition I think, so I'll trade in the others or sell them on, on eBay

Anybody else got something new?

Oooo gargoyles2! Nice.

What's in the package?

Is it stadium events?!

Or was that what both those came in? Haha

(Side note, angry birds Star Wars on Xbox 360 is great with a lot more levels, I've nearly finished it, the hardest bit is the space ones... They suck )

I played gargoyles for the first time last week for a while and liked it a lot. It's just a great game.

I haven't tried angry birds yet, but family is pretty into it. Angry Birds Trilogy is the one that's already wrapped. bastards on ebay listed as brand new, but it arrived unsealed.
