I voted fast travel as that's the method I use the most, but it depends heavily on the distance I need to go and/or the mood I'm in. Typically though, I'm likely going to be trying to get from A -> B and, if fast travelling is the quickest method, that's the one I'll be using.

Some times fast travel will bone you HARD.

click, click, loading please wait, and then when you can play again you're smack dab in the middle of five bandits who all go "Huh!? Where'd YOU come from!? KILL HIM!"

PS: I use the horse and carriage when I need to go to a big city I haven't been to before... is there another need for it? it costs money, fast-travel does not.

the amount of movement across the map would make me quit if there wasn't some sort of fast travel in place. I've had to go from north east, to south west corners before... just not fun to spend an hour riding across the whole thing just to talk to someone.

if they removed fast-travel, but kept... or expanded the horse-and-carriage mode of transportation.. it might not be too bad.

This is my problem with Dragon's Dogma (and Dark Souls but only for the first half of the game).

I love walking. Usually on my first playthrough of a new ES game I will walk ONLY, at least until I have explored most of the area first. I really hate horses for some reason on these games.

On my 4th playthrough now and I'm finally starting to use horses.

Stole Frost from that one dude's quest in Riften and I love him Until I get Shadowmere of course.

I thought he was invincible to everything so I jumped off Throat of the World...

I've played through at least four times (in the middle of a game now). I've found that horses will jump into battle as soon as you fast travel with the chance of them dying. This even goes for Shadowmere as he (or she) is not entirely invincible.

I usually fast travel strategically when I know there's a higher chance of vampire or dragon attacks. I'll travel outside the town first to make sure the enemies don't spawn...then enter city gates.

If I was to chose a horse it would be Arvak. Once you clear the Soul Cairn (with Dawnguard), you can summon Arvak anytime.

I fast travel most times, other times it's walking, werewolf/vampire lord form or atop a dragon.

It really depends on how I feel. I usually don't have a horse, so I tend to walk around to a lot of places and I don't like to use fast travel because you can miss a lot of random things on the road. The only other thing I use is the carriage sometimes.

I am seriously disappointed that so many people prefer fast travel! I mean, it's definitely convenient, but there are so many perks to riding or walking to your destination that fast traveling really removes a large aspect of the game.

Each to their own, but I think that fast travel is needed because I (and a lot of others) don't want to trek for miles and miles between the same locations. It would make it a boring, repetitive game with endless backtracking.

Fast Travel

I used to try and walk everywhere but ended up being tedious and all the freezing while walking a long distance was the last straw. So now I fast travel everywhere.

I had that problem as well. Except I had fast travelled while he had run off to fight some random enemy. I came back to the area where I had left him behind, and all I could see was his ass sticking out of the ground! I lost him for the rest of my play through. Grrrr.

Fast travel every time unfortunately. I currently have around 50% of the achievements (including the DLC) and have 70 hours in the game. Whilst I enjoy the game immensely I don't want to be spending needless hours walking back and forth,

I preferred fast travel and Shadowmere. Had horrible luck with horses until I got him. The only horse I ever had who absolutely refused to die, even when challenging the more powerful dragons. He actually saved my ass a few times by keeping the more vicious dragons distracted.

I will usually Shadowmere/horse or run. I try to avoid fast travel, unless using a carriage, although it takes longer to get places.

I usually use fast travel because when I play I usually don't have that much time, so don't want to waste it on walking.

When I know I have some time to play I do walk though and just enjoy the surroundings.

Never use the horses, I don't like them.

I usually fast travel, though occasionally I'll walk or go by horse (that is, until I lost Shadowmere ). When I first started Skyrim, I didn't know you could fast travel and actually spent the first 15 hours or so just walking, which meatn that I'd spent like 20 minutes just walking to the start of every quest.

Depends. If i want to get shit done, let's say a quest, I fast travel if I can. When I just feel like exploring, I ride my badass spectral horse across the lands.
