Achievement Guide & Road Map

Note: All credit for the guide goes to The Pants Party. I am simply copying the guide on the main page to have a copy of it in the forums.

Overview:

-Estimated achievement difficulty: 5/10
-Offline: 50 (970)
-Online: 0 (0)
-Approximate amount of time to 970: 5-10 hours
-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2
-Number of missable achievements: 1
-Glitched achievements: None
-Do cheats disable achievements?: No

Condemned is a great game that has several different things to collect along the way. Not to mention, there are also weapons that you must collect and use as well as evidence you must gather. Other than the collecting achievements, the rest of the list is very straightforward and easy as many of the achievements you'll accomplish as you progress through each level.

Introduction
Welcome to Condemned. This game has a total of 50 achievements and requires two playthroughs to get 970. Of the achievements, 3 are unlocked by playing through the story a second time. Those achievements include the Bronze, Silver and Gold Melee Master Award achievements. I actually completed the game in 1 and a half playthroughs as there were some levels I only used melee weapons on during my first playthrough so it can vary based upon player. All other achievements can be gained by playing through the story mode the first time. You'll want to be aware that it is very easy to miss the Chief Investigator Award achievement as some of the evidence you'll be required to collect can be somewhat easy to overlook in dark environments. Nevertheless, taking your time will earn you this achievement as well.

Step #1: Preparation
Before beginning your playthrough, it is important to set up your bird, metals, and TV checklists. A list of all birds, metals, and TV locations can be found here. For the achievements regarding using all guns as well as using melee weapons only, it is also recommended printing off a checklist of those, found here. There is also a list of all the evidence just to make sure you don't miss anything located here. Once you've got your lists, it's time to get started.

Note: The achievements for using melee weapons only during a level will unlock once you've completed the level along with the level completion achievements. Although you are not allowed to fire the weapons during a level, you must use each gun weapon as a melee in order to gain the melee master award achievements. To do so, simple press the button to wield any gun for melee attacks.

Step #2: Play the Game
As you play through the game, the main thing you need to do is check off what birds, metals, and TV's you have collected. If you don't do this, you will most likely end up with one or two birds/metals/TV's left behind in a level. It is important to do this because once you have made it through certain parts of a level, you are unable to go back unless you reload the chapter from the beginning so be sure and take your time.

During Chapter 8: St. Joseph's Secondary School level, you will encounter a lunch lady with the Meat Cleaver. You will want to use this weapon on the next enemy after defeating her because it is the only place within the game where you'll be able to use the Meat Cleaver. This level is also one of two levels where you will be able to pick up the rifle. Using this weapon as a melee as soon as you pick it up is also suggested as it is easy to forget later in the game if you have done so.

If you happen to die during a level, go back and use the same weapons you used, collect the items you had collected before you died again. It is safe to do so to avoid a headache later when you've completed the game. If you are checking off items from a list and die, it may be hard to recall which items you used during that level, so placing a symbol (square, triangle, circle, etc...) beside the item until you complete the level may be a good idea when you can then mark them completely out.

Step #3: Mop Up
Once you complete the game and watch the ending, reload your last checkpoint to get the other ending achievement. Of course, if you missed any birds, metals, or TV's during the playthrough, just simply load the chapter of the ones you might have missed and go back to get them. This also goes for any evidence you may have missed along the way as well. For the evidence, the most commonly missed evidence includes:
  • Chapter 2: Investigate the button on the elevator in the basement for a fingerprint.
  • Chapter 2: Before you move the locker at the end of the level, check the door for scratches.
  • Chapter 4: Extremely hard to miss, but by the end of the level, you have to check the map twice. Once a wide-view picture (required), the second a close-up on the circled area ("hidden").
  • Chapter 8: On the left wall of the first corridor for a stain of blood.
Conclusion:
That's it! If you've gotten to this point and followed my advice you should have 970. If you're still lost on an achievement, be sure to check out the Condemned forums by clicking here.

[x360a would like to thank Ingles55 for this Road Map]

Compassion Award 50
You did not shoot SKX

After the final boss, there will be an ending scene and you will hear something in the trunk. You will get out and open it finding SKX. Simply wait a few seconds and he will shoot himself, granting you this award.
Revenge Award 50
You killed SKX

Once you have the Compassion Award, reload the last checkpoint and kill the final boss a second time, but this time when you find SKX in the trunk, shoot him. You only have 5 seconds, so don't hesitate.

Bronze Detective Badge 50
You found the Bronze Detective Badge TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 1.\

Silver Detective Badge 50
You found the Silver Detective Badge TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 6.

Gold Detective Badge 50
You found the Gold Detective Badge TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 9.

Chief Investigator Award 20
You found every piece of evidence

Proceeding through the game, you will be forced to find all but four pieces of evidence (See 'Gold Game Completion' for help if you are stuck). The "hidden" evidence is hard to miss, but here it is:
Chapter 2: Investigate the button on the elevator in the basement for a fingerprint.
Chapter 2: Before you move the locker at the end of the level, check the door for scratches.
Chapter 4: Extremely hard to miss, but by the end of the level, you have to check the map twice. Once a wide-view picture (required), the second a close-up on the circled area ("hidden").
Chapter 8: On the left wall of the first corridor for a stain of blood.

Fire-Arm Freedom Award 20
You found every available fire-arm

You need to hit an enemy with every firearm in the game. These are: .45 Cal, Revolver, Shotgun (pump), Shotgun (Sawed-Off), Sub-Machine Gun, Rifle. This achievement will only unlock at the end of a chapter, so if you have used all weapons and don't get it right away, make sure you finish the chapter to receive it.

Melee Mayhem Award 20
You found every type of melee weapon and fire-arm

You need to hit an enemy with every melee weapon in the game, as well as using every firearm as a melee weapon and using the taser. I would suggest writing down/printing off a list, and every time you use a weapon, cross it off.
The list of melee weapons is:
Rebar Conrete, Conduit, Sledgehammer, 2x4 Nails, 2x4 Bolts, Fire Axe, Large Pipe, Small Pipe, Rebar Bent, Shovel, Rebar, Crowbar, Mannequin Arm, Sign, Steam Pipe, Clothes Rack, Locker Door, Meat Cleaver, Paper Cutter, Gas Pipe, Desk Drawer, 2x4 Burnt, 2x4 Fire, Desktop, Stick, Large Plank, Fireplace Poker, .45 Cal, Revolver, Shotgun (pump), Shotgun (sawed-off), Sub-Machine Gun, Rifle, Taser

This achievement will only unlock at the end of a chapter, so if you have used all weapons and don't get it right away, make sure you finish the chapter to receive it.

Ripple TV Xbox 360 10
You found the Ripple TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 2.

Static TV Xbox 360 10
You found the Static TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 4.

Bird Bath Xbox 360 10
You found the Bird Bath TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 7.

Test Pattern Xbox 360 10
You found the Test Pattern TV

See 'Golden Bird Award' - This TV is located on Chapter 8.

First Propaganda Report 20
You unlocked the first propaganda report

You must find 9 pieces of metal to get this award. (See 'Golden Bird Award' for locations)

Second Propaganda Report 20
You unlocked the second propaganda report and the Internal Affairs report

You must find 20 pieces of metal to get this award. (See 'Golden Bird Award' for locations)

Third Propaganda Report 20
You unlocked the third propaganda report and the DUO report.

You must find 29 pieces of metal to get this award. (See 'Golden Bird Award' for locations)

Fourth Propaganda Report 20
You unlocked the fourth propaganda report

You must find 30 pieces of metal to get this award. (See 'Golden Bird Award' for locations)

Bronze Melee Master Award 20
You completed single level of Condemned: Criminal Origins with only melee weapons

Play through a single level using only melee weapons. If you pick up a firearm, this does not hurt you, but you can not fire it. You can use it as a melee weapon though.

Silver Melee Master Award 20
You completed three levels of Condemned: Criminal Origins with only melee weapons

Play through three levels using only melee weapons. If you pick up a firearm, this does not hurt you, but you can not fire it. You can use it as a melee weapon though.

Gold Melee Master Award 50
You completed Condemned: Criminal Origins with only melee weapons

Play through all levels using only melee weapons. If you pick up a firearm, this does not hurt you, but you can not fire it. You can use it as a melee weapon though.

Golden Bird Award 50
You found all birds in the game

See this walkthrough for locations of all birds/metals/TV's. I suggest to print out the guide and just follow it step-by-step, pausing after every step to read the next and move on. If you miss something, you can reload a chapter and do it over, but you must get ALL the birds/metals the next time, not just the one you missed.

If you haven't already done it read more than this crappy "Achievement Guide & Road Map".

I can understand this was written in 2005 (maybe 2006) but it's still not an excuse for such a poor guide. The very least would've been to mention the Golden Bird achievement's "glitch".
So mate, if you haven't already completed or started this game, spare yourself some trouble and look elsewhere for a proper guide or walkthrough.

I gave this thread a single star for Terrible. If the guide says the game takes between 5 to 10 hours it should give you the tools to complete it in such time. That Golden Bird crap is going to make me have to start the whole game over and double the total time to 970

EDIT: oh and gold game completion isn't 50 but 10.

EDIT: God thanks I read about ten pages of people complaining here about how the golden Bird achievement didn't work. They kept saying that yo have to complete the game in order and catch the birds in order.

THAT IS NOT TRUE.
I remembered having replayed Chapter 2 and 5 before getting the missed birds on chapter 8 and 10. So I thought well, people are telling me to play the whole game over, SEGA's apparently saying so too, but although people are restarting the game they're unlocking it in various chapters. So I figured that the game had to keep track of the last time you finished a Chapter. In my case the last time I'd finished both Chapter 2 and 5 was without getting all six birds. So I played those two and those two over only. When I found the sixth bird on Chapter 5 the achievement popped up.

So all you need to do to get the Golden Bird achievement is make sure the last time you played every Chapter you picked up all six birds. I repeat, do not waste time playing the whole game in order.

I'd like that added to the Guide please. And I might even just make my own thread about it. Hopefully it'll get stickied so people stop wasting time and being confused about this achievement.

Why rewrite a guide that is already a few years old ?

You basicaly copied everything from the guide because every thing is identical to the old guide. Nice. :0

So now I'm confused. I got this game when it first came out, but never finished all the achievements. Since then my play history has been completely wiped. With that being the case, in order to get achievements like the 3rd and 4th propaganda reports and the Golden Bird Award, do I have to go through and recollect everything I've unlocked in the past? I already have the silver bird award for every Chapter except 8 & 10. If so that really sucks because I'm only missing 3 bird achievements, propagandas, and the achievements for finding ever melee weapon and beating the game with just melee weapons. I expected to have to play the whole game again anyway, but I really don't want to take the time hunting down all of the birds and metal pieces again if I don't have to.

I give the game a 2/10 for achievement difficulty. Everything can easily be done with a good YouTube guide. Very easy 100%
