Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax

Title/Ally/Equipment Guide

Guide is now complete (as far as titles/equipment/allies)

Quest 1: Hero's Departure

Straying - Once the Time Goddess resets your clock the first time, have time run out 3 more times before finishing the Evil Lord (the Goddess will warn you that she won't turn back time anymore at the beginning of the last 30sec)

Forgotten - Head over to the boat to the East of the 1st town and press A while aboard it for a free Herb and this title.

Equipment

Wood Sword - Town 2 for 50g

Tatty Togs - Awarded upon completion of the Quest.

Quest 2: Continental Bridge

Achievement - First Praying - You can now pray to Goddess statues in towns throughout the remainder of the game to reset the clock to 30sec, for a price of course. Do this once (in this level or a future level) for the achievement.

Barely - Finish the quest in under 30sec

Kelp Lover - I get this every single time, so I'm assuming you just have to fight any kelp you run into on the beach and not flee the fight(s)

Equipment

Bronze Sword - Village 2 for 80g

Hide Shield - Village 2 for 100g

Bamboo Spear - Awarded upon completion of the quest

Quest 3: Lord Hadears

Red Diamond - Finish the level within 30sec of retrieving the Red Diamond from the cave in the SE (simple with the boat)

Ear Killer - Find the Boom Sword and finish the level with it. You'll need to fight passed the giant Crab and pay the boat captain in the western town 200g to take you to the central island where you'll find the Boom Sword

Equipment

Boom Sword - Central island, see title "Ear Killer".

Merc's Shield - Awarded upon completion of the quest.

Allies

Mercenary - Hire him for 1000 gold at the first camp

Quest 4: Caves and Forests

Cave Lover - Use the cave to quickly travel down to the Evil Castle. (Level up a bit before trying it)

Bug Lover - Do not get the flyswatter from the man in the southwest part of the map.

Equipment

Leather Hat - First Town for 100g

(Horse doesn't count but can also be purchased for 120g)

Wood Shield - Second Town for 120g

Bugswatter - Free from the guy in the tent in the SW corner of the map, make sure you follow the forest to the Castle so you only fight bugs from this point onward.

Club - Awarded upon completion of the quest.

Quest 5: Firestarter

Woods Guard - Finish the Quest after dealing with the pyro in the northern cave.

Fasting - Finish the Quest without eating any food. Herbs are fine.

Equipment

Barrel Head - First camp for 150g

Rock Axe - Second camp for 100g

Barrel Armor - Awarded upon completion of the quest

Paths

Northern Path - Defeat the buffoon in the northern cave before the forest is torched (apparently fighting the firestarter puts out a forest fire)

Southern Path - Let the forest burn! Just focus on beating the Evil Lord.

Allies

Cecilia the Forest Elf - Joins you after you defeat the "buffoon" in the northern cave and stop the forest fire for her.

-Northern Route-

Quest 6: Through the Forest

Solo Trekker - Finish the stage without hiring Richard.

Lonely - Head toward the castle with Richard. Once you reach the castle, or are part way into the forest, he'll remind you that he wanted to leave at the second town, turn around and dump him off and finish the quest alone.

Equipment

Buckler - First Town for 130g

Logger Axe - First Town for 130g

Comfy Sandals - Awarded upon completion of the quest.

Allies

Richard the Bard - First town, you can hire him for 300g, he'll jump ship at the second down but will still count.

Strategy

Grind around the first town (not in the forest for a couple levels) until you can afford the Buckler, logger axe and Richard. Then head toward the Castle from there.

Quest 7: Courage Mountain

Achievement - Warrior of the Goddess - You need to offer 3000g to the Goddess over the course of the quest. The 3000g can be obtained by killing the bird in the bottom right of the map (where you entered) and after that just slowly finish the quest until you have bought enough time resets to meet 3000g, which is about 5 or 6.

Gorgeous - Buy the Lavish Mail for 3000g. Simply level up a bit and then head to the small plains area in the bottom right to fight a rare giant bird that will drop 3000g for you.

Coward - I've read that you need to finish the Quest at level 15 or lower, but I just went back through it at 16 and still got it so I'm not sure (didn't get the Lavish Mail either, which was my 2nd guess)

Equipment

Lavish Mail - First Town for 3000g. Kill the rare bird in the bottom right for the gold.

Bronze Lance - Awarded to you after finishing the quest.

Strategy

Head straight to village 2 from the start. Once you're there, buy and use an herb from the shop and buy another for backup and then talk to the old man to have the Fire Tribe Youth move the boulder. Head East upon exiting the town and move passed the boulder, continuing East to the edge of the path and choose to walk across the lava. Head into the cave, grab the Medal and when you go to head back across the lava, choose NO when prompted to drop the medal and run. Hit the giant lava monster once and proceed back to town, you may need to Dash by this time. Once you're back in village 2, reset the clock and head to the Northern monument then back to village 1 to heal and then look for the Giant bird in the grassy area to the immediate East. Kill the bird, claim the money and reset the clock in village 1 BEFORE buying the Lavish Mail from there, otherwise you may be short on money for the prayer and run out of time. Now run/dash up to the castle and finish off the Evil Lord.

Quest 8: Infinite Desert

Lost - Reset to the beginning of the desert at every possible wrong turn. 1. Go North from the entrance (The path is South), 2. Take the first left after going south (it's the second/last path left/West), 3. Take the northern exits from the area with Village 2 (it's the west exit), 4. Take the southern or Northern entrance to the castle (it's the middle one)

Bird Hunter - Kill the bird in the very small wooded area in the SW corner of the map.

Equipment

Iron Sword - First town for 250g

Quick Knife - Awarded to you for completing the Quest

Allies

Barbara the Warrior - Second Village for 250g

Strategy - True Hero (Everything but "Lost" title)

Fight around town 1 until you can afford an herb and the Iron Sword, then head into town and buy both. Don't reset the time unless you have under 10s for some reason. Head into the desert, going South at the first fork (through the cacti, follow the cacti) and then taking the 2nd path that leads West (basically head west once you hit the cactus against the edge of the map). Head into the 2nd village and reset time and either Hire Barbara from the tent if you have the money, or continue onward for now. Head straight west and once you hit the two cacti head South into the trees where you will fight a giant bird. Return to village 2 after killing the bird and heal up/reset time. Head West again, but this time head North from the 2 cacti. Ignore the first path to the castle, instead use the path around to the right, on the East side of the castle that goes straight to the castle. By this point you can just sprint to the boss and he'll be dead in about 2 seconds, if that.

Quest 9: Village in Danger

Town Savior - Reset the clock after the first village gets destroyed by lightning and finish the quest before it gets destroyed again (which happens when the clock reaches 15s, after blowing up initially once you leave the NW camp)

Kind Heart - Give the medicine to the sick person in the tent in the southern village.

Equipment

Rapier - First village for 300g

Loincloth - Awarded to you up completing the quest.

Strategy

Head to the Southern Town first, then over to the Northwest Encampment for the Medicine. Now back to the Southern Town. After receiving the directions, head up to the NE village and reset time, buy the Rapier and heal up. As soon as you leave town, rush down to the secret path (all the way South, then west, then north into the rock), you'll want to dash a bit, the boss is still pretty easy if you've fought enough during this strategy.

-Southern Route-

Quest 6: Through the Cave

Caretaker - Head through the cave between 20 and 10s for safe travel, after which you will gain the Rubber Boots. Return through the cave and head to the cottage in the west to give the Rubber Boots to the old man, who will let you keep them.

Gourmand - You need to eat all the food available. The first village offers 2 kinds of food, Eel Stew for 150g between 30s and 20s or 10s and DEATH, and Loach Stew between 20s and 10s for 30g. Next you can grab a Loach Pie for 30g in the village that is (normally) at the other end of the cave. The last two meals are tricky, you need to enter the cave just as it turns from hard enemies to weak ones, or vice versa, so around 20s or 10s (20s obviously preferred), and you'll exit through a different tunnel that will land you on an island next to a village where you can purchase Ancient Meal for 200g and Ordinary Meal for 50 (eat the Ancient Meal, then run off and get hit, return and buy the Ordinary Meal). If you're having trouble getting the secret cave exit, clear out the easy enemies so you skip to the opposite end without running through the tunnel again. Keep pressing A around 20s and 10s (by killing the easy mobs only you make the 10s opening easier, but not the 20s, defeat all of the enemies in the cave and just keep pressing A for very quick results).

Equipment

Rubber Boots - Received in a chest at the end of the cave. Attempting to return them to the old man in the West House of the Northern section will reward them to you.

Straw Hat - In the 2nd village, near the castle for 150g.

Strategy - True Hero

Finish your first two fights and head into the first village to purchase Eel Stew and an herb. Continue fighting until time is between 20s and 10s then proceed through the cave, you'll probably need the herb. Once you exit the cave, head straight south to village 2 where you should reset the clock and (if you can afford both now) buy the Loach Pie for 30g if you need health now, otherwise just head back to the cave in case you get the secret exit first try. Head back into the cave between 20s and 10s, go to village 1 and grab some Loach Stew for 30g and then head straight West to the old couple's house and try to give the old man back his Rubber Boots. Back to village 1, reset the clock (buy an herb if you want/need one) and try your hand at the hard enemies in the cave. Press A to enter the cave at either 20s or 10s to leave through the secret tunnel exit and buy both meals at the village where you come out, one for 200g, go out and get hit, then the other for 50g. Go back through the cave and head to Village 2. Buy the Straw Hat and Loach Pie if you still need them, reset the clock if you need to (under 8s left I'd say, depending on how you leveled) now finally go to the Castle and finish the quest.

Quest 7: Castle Over the Sea

Sea King - Take both tide covered land paths in one playthrough of the quest.

Getbacker - Get knocked by every tidal walkway at least twice each. Start by leveling out around the Eastern one and do that twice. Then dash out for the western one twice. Reset the clock before attempting two on the smallest one as you will need to go straight into the castle after doing the last two.

Equipment

Sailor Suit - SE coastal town for 230g

Bronze Axe - Awarded at the end of the quest

Strategy - True Hero

Basically the method for getting Getbacker. As you level around the Eastern tidal walkway, go into town and buy the Sailor Suit at some point. With that single addition you will get both Titles, all equipment and True Hero in one go.

Quest 8: Good Ol' Days

Four Eyes - Acquire the Mage Glasses

Sepia Master - Stop the spread of the Sepia.

Equipment

Utility Knife - Obtained after completing the Quest.

Strategy

For easy to complete once you get the secret pattern down pat. Start off by heading all the way North, through the cave North of village 1. Grind out in the dotted squares near the castle and heal up in village 2 when you need to. Once you're > the Evil Lord head back down to village 1 and reset the clock. Now head to the middle area where you will see a cross-shaped forest and two trees off alone to the East of that forest. Head to the north of the cross forest first and wait for the Sepia to overtake it. Now you must stop on a particular order of squares that are occupied with trees, forming the cross-shape which has 5 squares total. You must first cross into the Northern square, this will pause the game briefly and make a noise so you know you're doing it right, then move to the Southern square, then the Eastern Square, and finally the Western. Once you have hit all 4 squares in the cross-shaped forest, move AROUND the outside of the forest (otherwise hitting one of the 4 squares will reset it) and go to the two lone tree squares to the East. Move into these 2 squares in the following order: West,East,West,East. Make sure the brief pause and noise continue through all of this, if you do everything correctly a cave will open in the cross-shaped forest. DO NOT RESET, dash into the cave and move into the village at the other end and reset there, otherwise the cave will vanish. Talk to the woman in the village at the other end of the cave for the Mage Glasses. Now just go finish the Zero Wing throwback mission.

Quest 9: Change the Current

Sucker - By all of the Evil Combo meals at the village in the forest, they'll cost 200g, 400g, 800g and must be purchased before moving the rock. Move the rock and then finish the quest. (I bought the last meal, moved the rock, and beat the Evil Lord in 30sec if that makes a difference)

Gold Lover - Buy the Gold Scudetto.

Equipment

Gold Scudetto - The village in the woods just before the bridge to the Evil Lord for 2500g, only available after destroying the rock at the cave.

Iron Spear - Awarded to you for completing the quest.

Strategy - True Hero

Another relatively simple one. Start off by grinding out next to the forest where the 2nd village is (well the first village you see, but it's surrounded by harder enemies). Once you reach level 5 your path will branch, I'm not sure it's possible to get both Titles in one go, and definitely not both AND True Hero.

For True Hero and Gold Scudetto (a bit harder to get True Hero), head North and then West into the cave, stop at the village to reset the clock if you need to. Demolish the guy in the cave to move the rock and then head back to the forest area and begin grinding for gold on the enemies in the forest. For whatever reason there is Sea Corral in the forest and it can drop up to 200 gold a fight so this is big money. Be sure to reset the clock in the North Village whenever you need to. Once you have 2500 gold, head into the forest village to buy the Gold Scudetto and then finish up the level.

For Sucker and True Hero, stay by the forest and grind on the corral enemies for money, resetting at the Northern village when necessary, just as in the Gold Scudetto strategy. Once you have purchased all three meals, head to the cave and move the rock, then back down to finish off the Evil Lord and get yourself True Hero and Sucker.

-Both Northern and Southern Paths Converge on the Main Path at..-

Quest 10: Beautiful Evil Lord

Max Power - Reach level 30 and defeat the Beautiful Evil Lord (required if you attack him without Milennia anyway). To do this, grind out your xp and gold on the turtles in the SE portion of the forest, near the village. This will give you a steady stream of both XP and Gold, but in the end time will catch up with you so be sure to rush (you can just dash at this point) from the castle, to the building in the SW corner of the map, back to the castle upon turning the Beautiful Evil Lord Sane. The quest won't end until they are reunited.

Metro - Take the quick route and level up a bit as you head to the SW building where you will find the fiend behind the whole game, and the Beautiful Evil Lord's girlfriend, Milennia. Force Noir to run off and take Milennia directly to the castle, ending the quest without a fight.

Equipment

Charisma Wig - First Town for 160g

Fur Coat - Awarded to you after completing the Quest by either method.

Strategy - True Hero (Everything but "Max Power")

Really, see the above Title strategies for this one. Metro will net you True Hero for sure. Just add in a stop at the first town for the wig.

Quest 11: Bandit Valley

Bandit Buddy - Level out around the first town until you hit lvl 7. Reset the clock and head to the North cave. Fight (easier to Dash imo, even with the HP loss) through Donovan's waves of enemies in the cave and hit him once to call him an ally. He can break the rocks blocking the main path to the Evil Castle.

Going My Way - Level up to 7 or so and then head to the Northern part of the map, be sure to stop off at the Northern village to buy the Silver Spear and reset the clock if you need to. Continue South from there.

Equipment

Silver Spear - At the Northern village for 500g

Clogs - Awarded at the end of the quest

Allies

Donovan the Thief Boss - Smash through his waves of thieves and hit him, you can find him in the cave to the North of the rock maze area. He'll break the rocks between you and the castle (which is the route you HAVE to take with him.)

Strategy

Grind out around the first village until lvl 7, buy and herb from town and then rush up to the Northern path and stop at the next village for the Silver Spear and to reset the clock, heal, whatever else. Move quickly through the "danger" areas and just dash into the giant demon with your spear. Finish off the Evil Lord for the win (you may need the herb here so save it, he's lvl 13 or so)

Quest 12: Road to Land or Sea

Barely - Finish the entire quest in the first 30 seconds.

Bug's Horn - Kill the giant bug along the Western path.

Equipment

Hide Armor - Village on the South side of the lake for 100g

Black Belt - Awarded for completing the quest.

Paths

Ocean Path - Help the sailor get his mast back from the bandit in the NW tower and he'll give you his boat.

Mountain Path - Follow the strategy below.

Strategy

This will get you True Hero and both titles. First off, equip the Bug Swatter weapon and begin the level. Stop off at the first village and grab an herb and then move down the Western path (either flee every fight or dash and use the herb). Once you're at the "DANGER!", fight the giant bug, one swat will do, and you will now 1 shot everything but the Evil Lord thanks to a huge level up so continue onward. Grab the Hide Armor at the Southern village and move on to the castle to finish the quest.

-Ocean Path-

Quest 13:Past the Ocean

Tragic - Once you reach level 12 or 13, grab an herb and head to the middle North of the map, from the first island you'll see an opening in the rocks that goes farther North to a cave of sorts. Head into the cave, kill the skeleton's and find yourself a new ship. Now head to the first village and talk to the old woman who was waiting for her husband to arrive on that ship. He was probably one of the skeletons, but she doesn't need to know that.

Full Outfit - Finish the Swimmer's Set. See the Equipment section right below this.

Equipment

Swimmer Ring - In the 2nd village for 200g

Swim Goggles - Village 3 for 120g (Port village on island SE of Village 2)

Swimmer Legs - Village 3 for 180g

Iron Axe - Awarded to you for completing the quest

Paths

Deep Ocean - Level up until you are around 13 and head to the cave in the North of the map for a boat, finishing the quest with the boat will open up the Deep Ocean path.

Island Path - Stick to your swim floatie through the quest and you'll be on a path heading to a large island in the West.

Strategy

For True Hero, head straight to village 2 and grind out around there until you can afford a prayer and the Swimmer ring, then head over to Village 3 and buy an herb before doing someone more grinding on that island.

-Deep Ocean-

Quest 14:Battle Ocean

Wave Rider -Ride the waves 5 times. I did this without Hank and rode all of the waves and one wave within 30sec of beating the Evil Lord, just to be safe though.

Pirate Buddy - Hire Hank and help with his task to get him to stick with you.

Equipment

Flower Crown - Western village for 220g

Heavy Armor - Western Village for 400g

Long Sword - Awarded upon completion of the quest.

Allies

Hank the Pirate - Pick him up at the pirate base to the SE and help him clear out his old cave base before he'll join you.

Strategy - True Hero (Everything but Pirate Buddy)

Skip Hank. Head straight West and grind out some levels around the Western village, buy the Crown and Armor during this time, and when you're ready head North. Get tossed around on the waves in here at least 5 times and then head back, follow the North side of the middle rock wall West until you reach the second opening. Move into the opening slightly and head a bit West, then South to the Evil Lord's island and finish him off.

Quest 15: Lizardman Nation

Lizard Lover - Save the Lizard Prince. Head to the Lizardman castle and speak with the king. Then make your way to the village he pointed out in the woods to the far North and you'll find Rex. Return him to his castle and he'll decide to help you. He's useless, but the Evil Lord's guards will flee when they see the Prince.

Lizard Hater - Don't save the Lizard Prince. He sucks anyway.

Equipment

Steel Shield - First village for 300g

Scale Helmet - Second village (N of first island) for 250g

Trident - Awarded to you for completing the quest.

Allies

Rex the Lizard Prince - See Lizard Lover

Strategy - True Hero (Everything but one of the two titles, obviously.)

When the quest starts, cruise around just offshore to fight the fishmen and other sea creatures as they drop the best money. Once you have ~500g stop in village 1, reset if you need to, buy the Steel Shield and then hop back onto your ship and sail to the Lizardman Castle. Talk to the King quickly and then back in your ship for some more money grinding as you sail to Village 2. Once time is almost out, go into Village 2, reset the clock and buy the Scale Helmet. Now head North to the village the Lizard King showed you and save Rex. Rush him back to the Lizard Castle and then rush West with him to Village 3. Reset the clock if less than 10s or so and go to the castle to engage the boss.

You can also skip the Rex part and spend that time leveling a bit more and take on the boss with an herb at level 14 or so.

Quest 16: Treasure Island

Gourmet King - Eat the 3 time-related meals in the Southern Town: Morning Fish Set 30-20s for 30g, Fish Lunch 20s-10s for 60g, Fish Dinner 10s-0s for 120g.

Pirate King - Get the Pirate's Booty! Check the tree on the cape between 30s and 15( bit NW of town), check the forest monument between 15s and 10s (island immediately S of town), check abandoned ship (West of town, Southern boat) between 10s and 0s. NOTE: Don't say yet to keeping the money and screwing the world over, you have to say no to get credit for finishing the quest.

Equipment

Scale Sandals - First village for 250g

Pirate Hat - Find the Pirate's treasure

Saw Axe - Awarded to you for finishing the quest.

-Island Route-

Quest 14: Dragon Island

Miser - Sell the Dragon Egg but don't buy the lance. To get the dragon egg you need to head from village 1 just after a reset and dash to the cave and over to village 2 before the clock reaches 20s.You'll get all your lance money from selling the egg to the Scholar, just don't buy the lance with it.

No Plan - Don't get the egg OR the lance. Just grind, grind, grind.

Equipment

Dragon Lance - First village for 2000g

Chain Mail - Village 2 for 300g

Fire Rod - Awarded to you after completing the quest

Strategy - True Hero

This is easy to finish under 30sec, but won't guarantee a True Hero unless you are lucky with getting attacked. From the start, dash down to the cave and grab the egg. Dash East to the scholars and sell the egg. Dash North to the first village and buy the lance and some food. Now dash to the castle and own the Evil Lord (a total pushover with the lance)

Quest 15:Tiny Sailing Strip

Octo Hunter - Defeat the Kraken

Ship Lover -Ride the boat several times. Requires the Swimmer's Ring

Weapon

Silver Hammer - First village for 350g

Coral Crown - North village for 200g. Easy access = swimmer's ring and dragon lance and swim to the cave West of the first town which will exit next to the Northern town.

Quest 16:Flower in the Dusk

Flirty - Have Natalie join you. See allies.

Tough - Fly solo, no Natalie for you.

Equipment

Morning Star - First village for 350g

Battle Boots - Second village for 250g

Beast Killer - Awarded to you for finishing the quest.

Allies

Natalie the Traveling Dancer - You need to retrieve the Swamp Flower for her to join you. The flower will sparkle in the swamp from around 15s onward as the sun sets, so look for it then.

Strategy - True Hero and Flirty

Grind out around the first town a bit, the enemies were pretty tough for me (maybe cause I had on the Swimmer Ring..), buy the Morning Star and once you can safely leave town, head to the village across the river to the East and wait until around 15s buy the boots during this time, then head East from there into the swamp and look for a sparkling spot, head there to find the flower. Back to village 1 now to use the flower to woo Natalie, reset the clock and bring her to finish the (very) easy boss.

-Mountain Path-

Quest 13:Hero in the Dark

Sheriff - Deal with the useless Bandit Trio that's occupying the 2nd village, then return to the 1st village to tell them it's all clear.

Candid - Beat the Evil Lord while he is asleep. Just get to the level where it says you're >Evil and you should get this no problem. Going beforehand is possible cause he's sleeping, but he'll wake up eventually during the fight.

Equipment

Ten Gallon Hat - Village 2 for 200g, have to liberate of course, but it makes the perfect gift for a new Sheriff

War Hammer - After kicking the bandits out of Village 2 and telling the people in Village 1, return to village 2 and then SPEAK with the guy in the armor shop, Fred, for the War Hammer. (then press y to buy the hat)

Frost Spear - Awarded to you after finishing the quest.

Quest 14: Nun and the Devil

Wishy-Washy - Finish the quest without getting help from either the Nun, or the Devil. Go figure.

Collector - Collect the egg and the mineral. Dranium is in a cave to the North. When you get to the cave, don't take the first left as there will be a dragon there and you can only kill it with backup, so no wish-washy. The correct, dragon free, path is No, Yes, Yes. Be cautious, though, both this and the tower for the egg will take about 10s of actual fighting as they are multiple areas(well, doing the tower 2nd is less than 10s but you get the idea). The Egg is from the tower along the beach, head South and then West. Reset at the town to the East of the middle path if you need to first, this multi-level area ends in a boss, which should be a pushover at this point.

Equipment

Sword Knife - Awarded for completing the quest. It cuts bad guys and bread!

Paths

Northern Desert - Chosen by default, and also when you finish the quest with Elena.

Western Plain Coast - "The South Route Looks Gloomy", so side with the Demon for this one.

Allies

Elena the Nun - Northern village, she won't join you if you have the egg in your possession, and you'll need to go get the Dranium first.

Demon - Southern Village, meet her at the crossroads at 10s for her powers (must have the egg/get the egg for her)

Strategy - True Hero

Stop in at village 1 for an herb and then head North and West to the North Village. Reset the time and then head into the cave. No, Yes, Yes to the prompts asking you what direction to go and you'll arrive at the Dranium. Head back to the Northern village and talk to the Nun to have her join you. Now reset the clock again and head to the Evil Lord. I didn't see Elena do a single thing aside from using the Dranium, but apparently that's all you need.

-Western Plain Coast (Devil Route)-

Quest 15: Lord's Counterattack

Forest Guard - Completely restore the forest.

Unlucky - Encounter the correct ghost of each section last. The swirls you need to save for LAST: SW Desert, N swirl. SE Desert, third swirl. NW Desert, N most swirl. NE desert, E most swirl (this one is a dinosaur)

Equipment

NONE!

Strategy - True Hero and Forest Guard

Generally, look at the swirls you should avoid for Unlucky, and hit those ones ASAP. There's a lot of leeway time wise, but beware that the Western village does not have a statue, so plan accordingly (the Eastern one does). Having the Demon inside you makes this place cake.

Quest 16: Twin Valley

West Hero - Finish all 4 tasks at the Western village. Deliver lunch to man in left cave between 30s and 20s (morning),get a Rhino Beetle in the left cave between 15s and 0s (dusk), get the prized possession from the hole in the right cave (around dusk), and finally put the offering at the shrine in the right cave during the morning. Easiest to go left cave, right cave, wait til 15s, left cave, right cave (or vice versa, but go back and forth)

East Hero - Finish all 4 tasks at the Eastern village. Get the bucket from town and head to the spring in the left cave, dig for silver in the right cave. Then talk to their siblings for: Get firewood from the lumberjack in the left cave, sell the silver ore in the right cave.

Equipment

NONE! Again...loot whore.

Equipment

Gold Rush - \/

Bone Head - \/

Anima Plate - Find all three treasures and then make sure the 2nd village is intact when you finish the quest.

Strategy - True Hero, Booty Getter, Bomb Master

Grab the bomb at village 1 then head up to the Northern hole in the ground, use the bomb on the rocks and go down the hole, head to the Easternmost hole and wait for the boulder to get blown up (should already have been destroyed) grab treasure 2, and then go down to the East side of the massive hole SE of village 2 and jump down. Now back to village 2, or 1 if you can make it, to reset. Head to the cave to stop the earthquakes and then head to village 1 and have the villagers return to village 2. The bomb maker can now make 2 bombs per 30sec. Use the bombs to blow up the remaining rocks, they do more damage at close range but do not hit the rocks with melee as it will void Bomb Master (even if you finish the rock with a bomb), reset after every 2 bombs until the rocks are cleared out and then head to the castle to finish off the boss.

Knight Lance - NE village for 450g

Silent Boots - Awarded upon quest completion

Allies

Strategy - All but True Hero

First off, equip the Silver Sword (one-shot the cannon guys). You must DASH to and from each of the points, and fights, in this strategy. Start off by heading East over the cannon bullseye and North to the cannon. Dash SE to the town and buy both an herb to heal and one to carry, a horse and if you can afford it, the Shield (may or may not, if not, ignore it and do the level again for the full equipment set). Dash just North of the cannon you just destroyed and head West to another cannon, then NW form there to yet another cannon. From there move North through the tunnel and head East and a little South from the exit for cannon 4, then just North of that for cannon 5. You can see cannon 6 to the NW on the other side of a crater, so dash North and then West around the crater before it bombs the targeted area. From there(if less than 15s at this point, just head to the castle and hope for the best), head East to the village to heal and buy both the Knight Lance and the Red Bandana. Then head back West and North to the castle. Dash through the fight, use an herb when you're low on health, you WILL need it, and pray you finish in time. This will probably take a few attempts, but don't give up!

Quest 21: Floodgate Panic

Tunnel Lover - Go in and out of the tunnels 25+ times (the ones with the ladders). Simple to do, just keep spamming a since you won't move from the tunnel when you exit it so you'll enter and exit as long as you keep pressing A and time won't run out.-

Nonsense - Use the floodgate and bridge after talking the rich guy into letting you use his beach.

Equipment

Spike Mace - 1st village for 100g

Bronze Helm - From the cave with three doors, take the third door, then the Western ladder and down the next ladder to find an area with a treasure chest containing the helm.

Silver Mail - Awarded to you for completing the quest.

Paths

North to Lava field - Use the handle to close the flood gate DO NOT say you'll go to the private beach with the rich guy. He'll rape you x.x

South to Private Beach - Use your Swimmer Ring to reach the hut on the island SE of village 2 and tell the rich man you want to go to his beach.

--South Private Beach Job--

Quest 22: The Have-Nots

Rock Breaker - Do the rock smashing job 10 times. Stop in at the 2nd village and get the job from the man in the house to go into the tunnel just North of town to destroy rocks.

Battle Lord - Do the battle job 10 times. Same deal, just village 3 this time.

Equipment

Air Sneakers - 1st village for 300g

Horned Helm - Buy the girl in village 2's freedom. To do this without risking you running out of time, do the job here 10 times (and kill all 4 rocks for a bonus), then head to village 3 for the battle job x10 and return to village 2 with the money.

Evil Breaker - Awarded to you upon quest completion

--North Lava Field--

Quest 22: Giant Evil Lord

Orchid Helm - First village for 350g

Bigfoot - Awarded to you for beating the quest.

Allies

Sebastian the Heavily Armored Warrior - Head passed the destroyed town toward the castle and you'll come across Sebastian who will automatically join you.

Strategy - True Hero and All

Grab an herb in village 1 and then go straight passed the 2nd village and have Sebastian join you, then make your way S and E toward the wooded area to hunt the Cat Snake. Once he appears, chase him down to finish him easily. Head back to village 1 and buy the robe and helm and reset (grind some more gold now if you don't have 1500g after the 3 purchases) before going to finish the very easy Evil Lord.

----North Lava Field and South Private Beach Routes converge----

Quest 23: Fire Mountain

Rescue - Travel through the caves in the NW and beat the gray rocks to toss them in front of the lavas path to divert it away from village 2. After 10s/volcano erupts, talk to the people in the tents East of village 2 to send them home.

Pre-Eruption - Beat the Evil Lord before the clock hits 10s. You don't need to do the rescue.

Equipment

Metal Helm - First village for 400g

Tiger Blade - Village 2 after the volcano erupts with the rock wall up for 500g

Iron Armor - Finish the quest

Paths

Northern Plateau - Block the lava from hitting the village to open the Northern pass that goes through the now dried up lake.

Southern Valley - Screw the village, let it burn and head South.

Strategy - True Hero and All

I stocked up on heavy defense/block for this one, even though it required me to reset earlier because of how slow I was. Head NW into either cave to move the rock. After the rock is moved head to village 2 and reset, then move the other rock. Head back to village 1 and buy the metal helm, then go to the tents East of village 2 (after 10s, so they know the village is safe after the volcano erupts) and talk to the village refugees to have them go home. Now head to village 2, buy the Tiger Blade, reset the clock and go beat the Evil Lord within the next 20s.

----Northern Plateau----

Quest 24: Turtle and Hermit

Next Hermit - Beat the master. (See strategy below)

Hard Worker - Meet neither student. Just train with the Hermit enough times to level you up so you can fight the Evil Lord.

Equipment

Executioner - Awarded upon quest completion

Turtle Mail - Beat the Hermit

Afro Head - Beat the Hermit

Wide Saber - Finish the quest.

Strategy - True Hero and Hard Worker (missing some equipment)

Head to the sparkling area on the map and find the Sage. Use him to train you up to about lvl 20, dash through the training sessions and reset the clock when you need to. Once you're 20, grab an herb and head to the Evil Lord.

Hermit Strategy

Start off by getting the items from both students right off the bat. Once you have that, dash through the training to keep up with reset $$ and keep leveling until you hit 39. This should be timed roughly as your clock runs out (was for me twice), but no matter what, go reset your clock. Head back to the Hermit and now you want to turtle all the Air attacks on the left side of the screen (or middle) by constantly tapping the flee buttons. Otherwise, once you hit 40 and go back in he'll challenge you. This way you will hit anywhere from 55-60 (55 is perfectly fine) by just getting a massive amount of experience from this one training session. Once you're 55, accept his challenge and kick his butt.

Quest 25: Swamp and Witch

Romance - Get the Witch her staff. Have the Witch join you (W edge of the NW forest, press A), then head to the E forest to the sparkling area to find the Hermit, and her staff.

Careless - Get stuck in the swamp...multiple times (6 works). Don't get Catherine her staff until you have gotten caught enough times, otherwise they'll disappear and you'll miss out.

Equipment

Bronze Shoes - First village for 500g

Sage's Staff - Given to you by the Hermit when you get the Witch's staff

Bloody Axe - Awarded to you at the end of the quest.

Allies

Catherine the Witch - Just confront her at her hut in the West edge of the NW forest (press A to reveal it)

Strategy - True Hero + everything

Fight around the first village, getting caught in a few of the swirls in the swamp and then reset the clock, heal and grab an herb. Head to the Witch in the NW forest, W side, and move to the E forest where you'll see a sparkling spot, be sure to get caught a few more times. Reset at the village before going to the sparkling spot, get caught a couple more times, go to the sparkling spot and then finish the quest.

Quest 26: Isolated Castle

Bridge-adier - Finish the quest with no bridges left. You need to follow the path to get the Thunder Hat in order to reach the island when there are no bridges, and I recommend grabbing the power up food from the NE village before charging across the drawbridge.

Bridge Lover - Beat the stage with at least one bridge remaining.

Equipment

Thunder Hat - Help the lady at the N village by killing the giant Hermit Crab to the West of town. Chances are you'll need to eat the power up food from the caves to the NE. The old lady will send you to her husband in the S who will get you across the drawbridge with your new hat.

Prince Crown - Awarded to you at quest completion

Allies

Barbara the Warrior - You'll run into Barbara again at the second village, hire her for 250g.

----Southern Valley----

Quest 24: Golem Valley

Item Getter - Once you get Slowpoke, head back to the crater you got the screw in to fight a Wood Golem and get a circlet.

Golem Getter - Have Slowpoke the Golem join you.

Equipment

Large Shield - Village 1 for 500g

Circlet - Head back to the large crater with the screw after Slowpoke joins you.

Strategy - True Hero + Everything

Stop at village 1 and buy and herb, then head through the cave to the N, head N from the exit and enter the massive crater from the N side to find a screw. Reset at the wrecked village and head into the cave to use the screw. Re-enter the cave to exit on the N end, and head East to get Slowpoke. Reset if you have less than 10s. Head to the crater again, this time to fight a boss that appeared and retrieve the circlet for Item Getter. You can keep tapping flee to make sure that Slowpoke does all the fighting. Now head back to village 1 and reset, buy the Large Shield, heal up and head toward the boss. Again, use the Golem to fight for you if you've done this quick enough to still be a low level.

Allies

Slowpoke the Golem - Get the screw from the N side of the massive hole in the ground in the NW corner of the map, then head into the cave with it.

Quest 25: Treasure Land

Mimic Killer - Kill of the Mimics (the fake chests) NE cave, mid-Eastern cave,

Booty Hunter - Get the Gale Shoes (Southernmost cave)

Equipment

Cursed Mask - Second village for 450g

Gale Shoes - Found in a chest in the Southernmost cave.

Estoc - Quest reward.

Allies

Achievement - Charisma Hero - Scorpio will mark the last Ally that will join your party, granting you this achievement

Scorpio the Thief - Found in a cage in the mid-Western cave.

Paths

Close North to Quest 27 - Do all of the above...

Far North to Quest 26 - Do all of the above, and after doing so, check the cave that the Thief was in after emptying the caves to find a rock (pretty tough to kill, lots of HP so set time aside), break the rock and finish the level for the hidden path.

lame..

Strategy - True Hero + all

Use village 2 as your base and investigate the NE, E, S and W caves for 2 Mimics, the Gale Shoes, and Scorpio respectively. Reset often if you move slow, navigating around the cacti sucks, but you have plenty of time to spare. Be sure to buy the Cursed Mask from the village during the quest, you'll have plenty of money to spare. After emptying out all of the caves and freeing the Thief, return to the cave where you found the Thief and destroy the rock. Once you've gathered everything up, head to the castle and finish the Evil Lord.

Quest 26: The Return of Hol

Bond of Alliance - Kill the dragon that appears to the East of the 2nd village after you clear out all of the black visible enemies from the castle approach.

Defeated Hero - Get beat by Hol, alone. You'll get split up from your friends when you go to attack Hol. You. Will. Die.

Equipment

Balmung - Dropped by the dragon you need for Bond of Alliance

Allies

???? (No allies in this quest so you don't really need to know this except for completions sake)

Quest 27: Time Destroyer

Backtracker - Get pushed around a lot by the Time Storm

Chrono Hero - Beat the level in under 30s

Equipment

Time Boots - NW village for 1500g. Head through the NE cave into the forest and get Time Storm blown to the village.

Strategy - Chrono Hero

Walk toward the Hot Rock cave (Westernmost cave) , fighting once, and enter the cave around 11s. Dash through the cave and enter the village to the S after exiting. Heal up. Now move NE toward the large red arrow to use the hot rock (don't dash) fight about 2 more times before entering the castle (try and get in before 10s, but the Time Storm always pushed me right next to the castle, so it didn't matter). The boss has very little hp, but hits hard for the level so don't dash.

Quest 28: No Turning Back

Hero's Courage - Kill all of the rock enemies that appear on the screen

Hero's Spirit - Help the man in the West village by taking the letter to his wife.

Equipment

Time Shield - West village for 500g.

Strategy - All (not True Hero, but this quest sucks)

Grab an herb at the first town and dash North, dash through the Rock monster fight, then dash West, and up and around the corner to attack the Rock Monster to the West of the first one. Dash through the fight again, now dash South and around the corner to the West and head North. You'll run out of HP at some point so either flee the fights, or use the herb (this part varies greatly, using the herb can screw you over when you need to return to village 1, so playthrough a couple times to get the feel, or just get lucky). Stop at the West village and buy the Time Shield and talk to the man about the letter to his wife. Now, head outside and DIE. You'll be sent back to town 1 where you need to buy the Goddess Power-up and Head East and then North through the NE path to the next Rock Monster. Dash through him and Go NW to the town. Handing the letter to the wife will grant you 10s and a secret path to the castle. Head North to kill the last monster and get another 10s. Now ideally, you can chance your power-up running out and try the Evil Lord now, or rush through the cave behind the castle, get the power-up from the village the you were just head, and back through the cave to the castle (what I did, very quick fight that way)

Quest 29: The False Hero

Speed Star - Use Fleet Feet to catch your double. In a cave all the way to the North you'll find a man selling a speed powerup called "Fleet Feet" that will greatly increase your speed. Once you have it, I recommend talking to the old lady in village 3 for the water bucket task, then head to the spring to confront your double. Just catch him and hit him once and you'll get Speed Star and Real Hero.

Real Hero - Set everything right in each town. (see Speed Star)

Equipment

Time Helmet - Village 2 for 3500g

Strategy - True Hero + all

Same as Speed Star, just make sure you stop off at the SW village once you've caught your double to purchase the Time Helmet.

Quest 30: When Time Stood Still

Crossing Expert - Talk to the man in the second village and haul to the tide area just down the beach, you need to cross it at exactly 20s (the first time the tide goes out), and not a split second too soon or too late.

Crossing Klutz - Walk into the tide covered walkway about 20 times and then successfully cross and finish the quest.

Equipment

Time Armor - Village 1 for 2500g, you have to unfreeze it first of course

Strategy - True Hero +Crossing Expert OR Klutz

Level up to around 10 by the first village, then reset the clock and break the barrier into the second area and level up until 20, or 3500g (whichever comes last) and head back to village 1 for the Time Armor, then back to village 2 to reset the clock (important) and talk to the old man. From village 2, dash East til you hit water. This point will decide what Title you get, you can wait until 20s and then cross, or try and cross about 20 times and cross at 10s instead. Either way, once it's time to cross, run toward the walkway and the Goddess will freeze time for you, allowing you to continue onward toward the easy Evil Lord.

Quest 31: The Final Time Beast

Stealth Killer - There is a chicken Evil Lord being a chicken in the cave to the North. Kill him!

Evil Lord Killer - Make a pit stop at every castle and kill the Evil Lord inside of each before confronting the last Time Beast.

Equipment

Time Spear - Second village for 5000g

Strategy - True Hero + all

Grind out around the first village until around lvl 10, then work your way around the Evil Lord castles, starting with the one to the North of village 1, then the SW, NW and finally the central one. You should only have to reset time once or twice during the process. Once you're done with them, head to the North cave and kill the hiding Evil Lord, then return to village 2 to purchase the Time Spear, reset time if needed, and then go fight the Time Beast.

Quest 32: The Hero of All Time

Overlord Killer - Choose to finish the Overlord off with only 3 Time Beasts helping you. You'll need a Silver Sword for this, and a lot of luck. Once you get Glahs, Orka, and Tokimaru, head to the castle and once you're on the castle grounds, dash to the castle and then dash to the boss as you will only have 1s to kill the boss from the instant you cross the red circles in front of the castle, thus why you have the Silver Sword.

Hero of All Time - Ask for the assistance of all 5 Time Beasts. You can see the places where each needs to be summoned on the minimap (4 darkened squares in the formation of a large square). SE,SW (Orka),2 in the NW (Tokimaru and Golmetas)and one in the E (Lagord). You'll need to get them in roughly the same order, but Lagord is required to get to Golmetas. Once you reach the castle, Golmetas will freeze the boss to pause the 1s countdown he makes, however, he is still very tough and thus having the Silver Sword is fantastic (although makes the rest of the level suck).

Allies

Use all of the Time Beasts to aid your fight.

----Northern Plateau and Southern Valley converge----

Quest 27: Grand Wings

Grinder - Beat the stage at lvl 30 or higher

Cursed Shoes - After getting your dragon and leveling up a bit, head to the SE cave to fight a Manticore and get the Dual Greaves.

Equipment

Royal Guard - Second village (island) for 700g

Dual Greaves - In the cave just North of your dragon, but you'll need him to fly into it. (and there's a Manticore inside so be at an adequate level and hp level)

Ice Shield - Quest reward

if someone could stick these behind the other posts, that'd be greatly appreciated :)

Strategy - True Hero +all

Skip the first town and head East to the sparkling spot in the forest. Talk to the dragon then head straight North to grab his leaf and back to him to heal him. Mount your new dragon and head to the Western island town. Buy the Royal Guard and reset the clock. Fly north to the two caves to free the dragons, then west to reset the clock. Now fly to the cave you probably saw getting the leaf, just North of where you got the dragon, to find the Dual Greaves. By now you should be around level 30 (or at level 30 like I was) if you didn't flee/dash around, so go finish the quest.

Quest 28: Farewell Bandit Trio

Silver Lover - Get the Silver Sarit

Fake Killer - Kill at least 10 of the clones that Larrie shoots at you. He's the Evil Lord now, and a bit of a pushover after running around, and having a mount to speed up the fight makes this even less likely. So keep tapping the flee buttons to stay in the middle of the room while you fight off the 10 clones, then finish off Larrie.

Equipment

Iron Boots - Northern village for 300g. You'll need to enter the tide-dependent hole/cave to reach the bird in order to reach the village.

Silver Sarit - In the unreachable area to the East. Once you kill the bird to stop the wind, you can reach the cave, fight the Basilisk, and recover the crown.

Light Armor - Quest reward.

Strategy - True Hero +all

Follow the pathway to village 2 and buy an herb to heal with and one to carry, the go to the West/NW of the castle to find a hole that should be uncovered around now. It's covered by rocks/the tide but is uncovered around 15-10s. If you've passed that time, rush back to town to reset, if not just wait for the tide to change and the hole to open up. Go into the tunnel and enter the tower at the other end to kill the bird. Now head west to buy the Iron Boots and reset time, then dash to the SE to find the Silver Sarit and the cave, and once all that is done and you have over 15s or so left, head to the castle. During the boss fight stay in the middle of the room until you've killed 10 clones, then finish off Larrie.

Quest 29: Infinite Weapon Lord

Sword Keeper - Get the axe and the spear. Francisca will also be working toward collecting the weapons, and the first one you'll need to beat her to is in the Eastern town (actually, you can reset time to return the weapon to it's owner). The spear owner will ask you to kill a large fish to the North, a Shark with 6 eyes, once you do so, head back to town and reset the clock, then talk to him. The guy in the Western village simply wants 5000g, which you can easily get from the cave to the North.

Sword Killer - Don't get either weapon. Just follow the Sword Keeper path, destroy the required enemies, but don't claim the weapons. She's still a pushover.

Equipment

Holy Guard - Village 1 for 750g

Sea Spear - Eastern village task

Giant's Axe - Western village task

White Horse - Quest reward

Strategy - True Hero + All but Sword Killer (also works with Sword Killer + Holy Guard, just ignore the two weapons)

Just follow the Sword Keeper guide, and add-in a stop at the first village to buy the Holy Guard once you have 750g (you can easily squeeze it in after getting the axe and before heading to the castle, the Evil Lord is cake).

Quest 30: Cursed Hero

True Hero - Don't kill Zombie Sasha. When you fight the zombies, just keep fleeing and stopping to stay on screen for about 5s and you will be taken out of the fighting without killing Sasha. (You need to say Yes to staying her friend for her to appear)

Achievement - Kind Hero - Not bulldozing Sasha will grant you this achievement

Liar - Kill Zombie Sasha..it's a 2D game, she was in the way.....right?... (You need to say Yes to staying her friend first)

Equipment

Gaia Helm - Swamp village for 1000g

Glass Shield - Swamp village for 800g

Hero Sword - Follow the True Hero (title) path and you'll get the Hero Sword.

Lord Mail - Quest reward

Quest 30: Last Battle!

Brave - Get all the Brave armor

Portable - Finish the quest with the portable goddess still in one piece. You get the Porta-Statue from Sebastian's cave in the West, just don't use it.

Equipment

Brave Shield - Head to the boat in the NE to find Hank and go back onto the boat to fight a sea monster (tough for a Hero in the teens)

Brave Crown - Head West to the tower where you'll find Donovan and the Brave Crown.

Brave Blade - Head down the ladder next to the castle to come out near a cave where you'll find Karen and a Chimaira protecting the Brave Blade.

Brave Vest - To the East of the castle you'll see a cave with a large bug in it, where you'll find the Brave Vest.

Achievement - Equipment Collector

Achievement - Hero 30 - Congratulations! You've finished the Hero 30 campaign.

Achievement - Multi-Ending Master- You've discovered all possible endings to your tale as a Hero

Well, I tried to get the title in Quest 30 - Crossing Expert by freezing the time at 20'00 secs. Well, i didn't made it, but I got the title 'cause it's easier than the description: you just need to cross the bridge on your first try, no matter the time you get it. I got the title with 09'88, so I hope it helps the people like me that don't have a good timing!

Try to do all five of the different waves to ride. You will prolly have to reset the time in between but I think that worked for me.

Wave Rider in quest 14: Battle Ocean is giving me issues. I got my boat turned around by that first wave just next to the entrance to the wave area well over five times, then completed the level with no success.

As Lokus said, try riding all 5 of the waves. That's what I did and it worked fine, whereas my first attempt I did the same as you and go the same results you got.

On Quest 15 Tiny Sailing Strip; does anyone know how to make the Kraken appear? Thanks.

I'm almost certain this is luck based, aside from having to be on the boat. I did this quest close to 10 times and ran into the kraken anywhere from 30s to 2s, or not at all in some cases. Also some of the runs I cleared out the caves, one cave, no caves, etc. Still random. Maybe I missed something though.

I see, I was just grinding it out and clearing the caves, but still found nothing. So I have to be on the boat? What level should I be to take on the kraken?

Is Bomb Master glitched? I went through the mission and destroyed every boulder, without touching it and still did not get the title. Do I have to do it in a particular order? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bomb Master was another fickle title for me. I don't believe the order matters (for what it's worth, I went from left to right after the first boulder near the town), but boulders destroyed by the earthquakes might be what screws things up? Have you tried resetting the time after you calm down the mole, and then destroying each rock?

Yes, I reset time so that I could destroy each boulder. I'm still confused on this title; the game is either glitched or the guide is incorrect.

Cant get anima plate for some reason, ive been trying for 3 hours and no luck.... i did get both title tho....

After a quick google search it seems like a lot of people had the same issue with the PSP version. The armor should obviously come with the Title, however I couldn't find any solution as to how to obtain the armor for the people who can't get it no matter what they do.

Just to check though, you did get all three chests and stopped the Moles from destroying the village, right? And of course the obvious part, you did check your equipment for it, right? (It's almost all the way right in the body armor section)

Other than simply overlooking it, I'm not sure why you haven't received it :(
