Seven new confirmed bands

Straight from the devs' Twitters and Facebooks, we now have six more bands to add to the confirmed list. With links (hover over the band names), they are Tears for Fears, Marilyn Manson, the B-52s, Def Leppard, Filter, and Foreigner. I don't know about you guys, but I know I can't wait for Foreigner.

From the Rock Band website itself, we also have a confirmation of Avenged Sevenfold (link) as an on-disc band. If you listen closely, you can hear the sounds of fans rejoicing everywhere!

Last but not least, RockBandAide.com recently unearthed a huge list of rumour bands, found here. The list was originally posted sometime in June and includes five of the bands mentioned above, but it is by no means official, and I don't recommend you take it as such. All those whining about the first artist on the list need not worry. For now.

EDIT 1: Update time!

HMXThrasher just announced on his Twitter that the Tears for Fears song is indeed Everybody Wants to Rule the World, with your source here. He also Tweeted that the B-52 and Def Leppard songs are Rock Lobster and Foolin', seen here. That makes two confirmed songs from the list posted on RockBandAide. Coincidence? Let's hope not! I need me my Bob Marley fix!

EDIT 2:

HMXThrasher seems to be toying with me, 'cause I can't wait any longer after seeing confirmations (link) for The Beautiful People (Marilyn Manson), Hey Man, Nice Shot (Filter), and Cold as Ice (Foreigner)! That makes two more songs from the leaked list now confirmed for Rock Band 3.

Yeah they do. It's coming. I bet all of those songs are coming. It may not be on disc, but I' believe all of those that aren't on-disc are released within 6 months of release.

It's definitely possible. And if so, you know what? Kudos to Harmonix for their musical variety. Just another reason to prefer Rock Band over the competition.

On the flip side of the coin, people think that just because they have the option to buy Amy Winehouse tracks, it's just as bad as having it on-disc. DLC is DLC. Optional. Not required at all. People don't see that, for some reason.

Heh, I think that one is going to be on-disc. It's a great song for vocalists, and despite what a lot of the dim bulbs think, not every song has to RAWK on guitar. Deal with it. I welcome the variety.

Very interesting list.

Out of the songs on that list, "Space Oddity" would by far be the most amazing addition. We need more Bowie!

Additionally, I am still hoping for that "That's all the bands for RB3. Oh, wait we forgot one - Led Zeppelin." surprise announcement.

If anything, the artist I'm most psyched about on that list is Bob Marley. With the report of 'upcoming reggae DLC' way back in 2008 and nothing since (minus a few RBN tracks), I hope this is how the genre is introduced to the platform. I would have expected One Love, though.

Rammstein would be interesting, especially Pussy, but that seems a little unlikely. (What's wrong with a song about cats?) I bought Wings of a Butterfly by HIM but wasn't really happy with the pack, so some more tracks would be nice. And I just recently started listening to Tegan and Sara, so I'm waiting to see what happens there.

And then there's Zeppelin. We already know that John Paul Jones is fine with his music being in Rock Band (Them Crooked Vultures), but Page seems to want nothing to do with the series. He'd rather see kids play real instruments than plastic guitars, but with the inclusion of Pro mode, maybe we'll finally see some Zeppelin and even Pink Floyd.

I can't keep up with you, Thrasher!

Updated, again, with Tweets of The Beautiful People (Marliyn Manson), Hey Man, Nice Shot (Filter), and Cold as Ice (Foreigner).

Yes, Cold as Ice! But aside from that nothing to get excited about, as of yet. GH has the upper hand at the moment even though they have Foo Fighters and Slipknot.

Warriors of Rock is far too metal. At least twenty-seven metal bands, and that's just the ones I'm familiar with. Plus, thirteen of the songs are already on Rock Band. (Rock Band 3 has some songs already in Guitar Hero, to be fair.)

With Guitar Hero's 20 or so songs left to announce and Rock Band's 50, I still think it's way too early to judge.

The list on rockbandaide makes me squeal with joy.

I really hope those songs are on there.

I never play vocals but i'd definitely sing Whip It, Werewolves of London, Rock Lobster, and Fly Like an Eagle.

The only thing i'm slightly disappointed with is all of the repeats from Guitar Hero games. Some of the repeats are welcome though (Beast and the Harlot, Caught in a Mosh)

Now all we need is Cars by Gary Numan.

isnt this suppose to have close to 300 bands.. or am i going crazy? i thought i heard that some where

As of right now, there are over 1,600 songs across the RB platform(almost 500 through RBN). So I'd imagine that there is over 300 artists now. If not now, then easily by the release of Rock Band 3

EDIT: went through just the DLC(not including RB1, RB2, Lego RB) and there are easily over 400 artists/bands. Prolly at 500 across all platforms including those above games. Heck, that doesn't even include the RBN!!! So I take it back, over 700 artists no doubt :)

I know what a hyperbole is, thanks.

There's 742 bands to be exact. You also could've used this topic: Link without going through all that hassle. :p
