Note: Please do not send me random friend requests. I am willing to help but it will be limited to here. Existing people on my friends list that is a different story. Sorry to sound like a jerk but I am tired of getting 10-15 FR & Msgs every day and it really is taking me away from Tales of Vesperia. Feel free to post in this thread or to PM on x360a though!

Basics:

  • Have a little bit of practice to know what you are doing and also know all the moves.
  • If you do not have the freeflow perfection, I would recommend going for that first and learning the moves and the range of each move.
  • Strike - http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/x.png Just the regular punch button.
Stun - Hit http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png when near an enemy to stun him with the cape.
Floor Stomp - http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/rt.png + http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/y.png when an enemy is on the floor.
Takedown - Both http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/y.png + http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png at the same time while the combo meter is flashing (8 hits w/o upgrade 5 hits w/)
Throw - Both http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.png+ http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/x.png at the same time while the combo meter is flashing (8 hits w/o upgrade 5 hits w/)
Counter - http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/y.png when an enemy is about to strike
Evasion - Double-tap http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.png with a direction when an enemy is near.
    Batclaw - Double-tap http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/rt.png while facing a target.
Batarang -Tap http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/lt.png while facing a target.
  • Do not worry about the perfect knight bonuses. While these are nice to have they are not necessary for getting all the medals and on the extremes you are less likely to get them.

Freeflow Perfection Guide:

  • Make sure you have all your upgrades!! So finish the story mode first because it is so much easier that way!
  • I would recommend starting this on Intensive Treatment, second round.
  • Start off with Batclaw(http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/rt.png) to pull 3 guys towards you and hit them with a strike to start the combo off.
  • In the middle make sure you use Strikes (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/x.png), Counters (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/y.png), Stun (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png), Throw (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.png+ http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/x.png), Takedown (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/y.png + http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/b.png)
  • Make sure you obviously dont break the combo in any way and when you have 2-3 guys left use Evade(http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/a.png) and jump over them and use your batarang (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/lt.png). This should stun them and you can do the final strike for you achievement by using ground pounding (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/rt.png + http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/misc/y.png) and there is your achievement.

General Tips:

  • Practice makes perfect. I was getting 4000 or so points each time I played the first map but with a little time (about a day or so) I started getting more and more points each time.
  • Try to get a feel for when to use each skill. Try to use the YB takedown on the baton and knife guys so they are less of a hassle. Remember you can use the B button to clear, as well as use A to jump over people.
  • If you get overwhelmed try to jump over people and clear with batarangs! Then move right into combos. You can also use A to jump over people to keep the combo alive. The good thing here is you can do it more than once as long as you keep jumping over people. You can use this to get in better position to keep your combo going.
  • On the later stages try to clear a little room and make your way to the people that grab bricks and more specifically the guns. An alarm will sound when the gun case is being breached.
  • I start off each round firing the batclaw and hitting those guys and opening it up to a combo. Do what you prefer here until you get down to about 3 guys or so then follow the following strategy:
  • Try to have a decent combo going when you are around the last three say around like at least 15 or so. Depending on the situation jump over the guys that charge you and hit them with the batarang to stun them and then try to get the RT+Y ground takedown. The multiplier should be 15x100(per ground takedown) meaning if your combo is at 15 it is 1500 per ground takedown. I used this method to get 22K plus on the first level on rumble in the jungle (extreme). This is a good way to finish off a pretty good round or a flawless round.

Shock & Awe (Extreme) Guide (Credit goes to Tattie)

At the start of every round you want to fire your Ultra Claw to clear some enemies out of the way.

Round 1

After firing your Ultra Claw, strike one of the guy falling over twice and another guy will try to hit you, counter hit. You should have a 3x combo now, evade a normal guy and strike him, you should have a flashing combo, now use the Y+B takedown on one of the knife guys,6x combo, evade a strike two more times and you will have another flashing combo. Y+B the second and final knife guy. There are now 4 enemies left, evade and strike to more times, Y+B one more guy, now here is the crucial part that takes practice, get in a good position so that the last 3 guys and all in front of you by evading them to keep the combo, fire the Ultra Claw, all 3 will stumble, evade one of them and you should have time to use 2 RT+Y finishers, the last guy will have rose to his feet by now, evade him and Ultra Claw, evade and RT+Y, you should use this strategy at the end of each round on the last 3 guys to maximise points, for this guide I am going to call it the End of Round Strategy. My personal best on this round is 12500, anything above 7000 is good though.

Round 2

*Fire Ultra Claw

Now on this round instead of striking the falling guys you want to jump evade over their heads, one guys should be in front of you, 3x strike him and another should be arriving behind you counter him, now for the important part you want work on as much of the group as possible to try and avoid the chance of one of them going for the gun box, if you can do this by evading striking until 3 guys are left and then use the End of Round Strategy, you will be good.

Round 3

*Fire Ultra Claw

Both round 3 and 4 require the same strategy but I will do them individually, once you have fired the claw, evade the guys and begin to build up your combo, in round 3 a guy will go for the gun immediately, ignore him for now. Once you have a flashing combo, YOU MUST eliminate the knife guy, if you do this by the time you have another flashing combo, switch on detective mode and you will be able to see the gun guy lining you up, Y+B takedown and then continue to work the group until 3 are left and the use the End of Round Strategy. If you lose your combo at all in this round, you will probably run out of time. Try to remember where to gun is laying, it's red in detective mode.

Round 4

*Fire Batclaw, No detective mode

Evade and build up your combo, You must Y+B the two guys with knifes, but keep an eye on the gun, if anyone picks it up, just critical strike him to KO him, but don't waste your Y+B takedowns on him, the knife guys are most important. After they are out of the game, switch detective mode back on, the gun guy should all be a your main objective if he picks it up. Work the whole group until 3 remain and use the End of Round Strategy, similarly to round 3, if you lose the combo, you will probably fail.

Additional Tips:

- Never strike facing on, always evade and hit the guy you just jumped over, this way you wont lose the combo to Baton or Knife guys, who block you if attack face on.

- If an enemy gets the gun in round 2, restart, this makes round 3 even harder.

- Rounds 1 and 2 are easy, try to perfect them first and then work on round 3, once you have that, you just need round 4. Put the practice in and you will get it.

Thanks for the help! I will try to use it. I have been playing the first map for about 2 hours and still can't get 3 medals. I find it ridiculously hard! I even got every single medal for the invisible predator mode and I can't do these! Right now the 2 types of challenge maps seem unbalanced to me...

Agreed, the combat challenge rooms are significantly harder than the predator challenge rooms.

I have managed to get 3 bats on every combat challenge except the last one (Rumble In The Jungle Extreme). It is sooo freaking hard to keep combos up with the Titan Henchmen in the room for some of the rounds. If anyone has some pointers as to how they managed to snag 50,000 points and up for that room I would be eternally grateful as right now I am stuck with two piddly bats for that room. Haha, I need this achievement!

Yeah I am wondering about rumble in the jungle too.. is it best to just focus on taking out the titan henchmen first? or jump around and save him for last?

I actually just tried this out.. and im not saying it's the best way but if you ride the titan henchman at the very beginning you can get a multiplier up around 20 and then continue the multiplier when you jump off which could make for some really high points. Or you could try to just throw a batarang at him in the middle of a combo and let him run into walls to kill himself while you keep goin after the other guys

22k @ first round :o nice

I usually get 23-24k at the last round and ~7k at the others (My record is something like 49,8k )

I usually attack one titan with the batarang at the beginning. Punch him a few times, counter the enemies, punch him two more times, get on his back (should be a 10x multiplier at that time). Only attack the normal enemies, the titan will buck you off, if you hit the other titan 3 times. Once you are off the titan take down an enemy (Y+B), should be around 1200pts.

Rinse and repeat till all enemies are K.O.

If you can kill a titan try to get a good multiplier before he goes down (hit other enemies or hit the titan while he is going down (=10x multiplier))

solidnys:

Aim for crits and use Y+B Takedown as soon as possible. (3 crit hits or 5 normal hits).

Shock and Awe on extreme is sick! I can't win 3rd round

ok, I have a nice tips for Shock and Awe (extreme), first try to takedown(Y+B) guys with knives, next jump off to safe place and batclaw 3enemies, jump over them and to safe place, next use baterang to takedown rest of guys, then start to taking down with ground takedown (RT+Y) stunned guys. It's fast and gaining a combo.

(sorry for my english, i'm just a kid from PL ;) )

I have managed to make it in the top 25 on two of the levels :D

Also use and absolutely abuse the shit out of batarangs and the YB takedowns and another thing I did was I hit criticals a lot so all the henchmen were knocked down and spread out so I could jump from one person to another with the RTY takedowns. Hope this helps a little more.

Also Mark asked how I did the Rumble in the Jungle Extreme. Here is my exact quote from my message.

I scored a 43 hit combo in the first round, untouched, free flow perfect, I managed to get two of the ground takedowns and scored 22K plus at least 4-5 times. I was about where you were the numerous times I have played it already. I actually got like 48,755 one time. So I was thinking of my scores and well what I did was I tried so hard to improve my score in the 3rd round where there was no titan. In the last round I actually took the henchmen out and was left with the two titans. I weakened one and kept getting on it and punching the other. I got really lucky and weakened the other enough to hop on it and wack the other one. I kept rinsing and repeating it and I managed to get above 50K.

In otherwords get one titan down in health and try to get them near each other. Get on the back of one and hit the other. Hopefully you can chain it right. I got an absolutely huge multiplier doing it this way and when you knock them out it is lots of points :D

Shock & Awe was the easiest one for me personally. Make sure that in the 3rd and 4th rounds you keep those guys away from the bricks and gun cases because the guns will destroy any sort of combo you get going. It happened to me when there were like 5 left and I had like a 45 hit going. Boy did that make me angry. Just keep at it and you will get it with a little strategy. Remember to start off each round firing the batclaw since it makes the stun baton guys drop them sometimes as well as openes up knife guys to hit with a regular attack rather than a stun attack then a regular attack! Make sure to hit criticals a lot so that you can do your YB takedown on the knife & baton guys. I scored like 76K ish and got ranked in the top 25 :woop:

Thanks for the hint, especially with the baclaw, didn't know that.

How do I get crit hits? Always thought i can get them if i attack more than one enemy in a row. (without evading or smth like that)

Don't quote me on this (Or do, if I'm right =b), but if you press X to initiate the next attack just as the last one hits, that attack will be critical. It's all to do with timing.

@Vendetta: Thank you for this! Made me realise there's a lot more to Combat than I realised (Multiplier for the take-downs.) Now I just need to keep practising so I don't keep mashing buttons and messing up the combo!

At least it sounds good, i'll try that tomorrow =)

btw if there's a guy that want to pick up the weapon, do you go after him, fight at the other stage or just try to take him down, before he reaches the other stage?

I only go out of my way to hit guys going for weapons if they are going for bricks or guns. I dont bother with pipe guys since they are pretty easy to take down, the only thing is you need to watch for is them connecting at a little further distance away from you and in that case be ready to counter rather than strike.

At the above question about critical hits, make sure first off you have the upgrade so that it is easier to land a critical. It is all about timing, make sure you react and hit a button as you land a strike. Also helps to be aware how close and where on the map others are. Just practice a little until you hit it with some consistancy. Just make sure you are ready and can land lots of criticals before you do Shock & Awe (both regular & extreme) since each round has a time limit. Landing more criticals = more takedowns since you only have to hit about 3 or so criticals.

Isn't it better if you don't use the Y+B en A+X takedown / throws. After you get a 5 combo streak, and get the ability to throw/takedown an enemy, don't... keep hitting, every hit after that is an critical one, and counts for 2 hits.. This way the combo is easier to build up :).

This is at least what happens by me. Don't have all the levels yet, but worked on the easier ones perfectly.

Only use the takedowns on baton guys and knife guys since they are more likely to bust up your combos. Sometimes I use them if I get a little too crowded up since they usually dont hit you and plus then you have a little more time to think about what you are going to do next.

On Shock & Awe using takedowns is useful since it is on a time limit per round.

Also on a side note I will be editing my OP to make it more legible and simplify it more for you all.

Another pointer I forgot to mention is that when the henchmen are going for the damned gun box you will hear an alarm go off to help you remember to get over there fairly quickly since it seems to take a little bit for them to actually grab the gun and shoot it.

Mmm the box of the gun is in the right one right ? mmm then i think we always need to fight there to see that mfker gunner.

I didn't have any trouble with the gunner. He will never fire from the ledge. Simply keep your ears open for the alarm that goes off when a goon is attempting to open the gun locker. When you hear the alarm turn off, you'll know he's armed. When that happens just watch for him to drop back down to the lower level. For me personally, he was in no hurry. He would slowly walk towards the rail before dropping down. In fact, he was always the last guy I took out because all the others were KO'd by the time he dropped back down. :p

i'm having trouble ending my combos with the ground pound move. i was really excited to hear about that, since i normally end combos with the Y+B takedown, but ground pound is worth double the multiplier... anyway, when i knock the last guy down, i don't see how you can get over to him fast enough to ground pound him before your combo ends.

if you can elaborate on that, it would be a big help.
