I bought 20k coins, stood my controller upright and put a book on the LB to hold it down. Went to bed, woke up ~10 hours later and was up 11k coins. Maybe I was lucky, but I'm not complaining. Saves me from having to breed a chocobo and race it -- too many negative flashbacks of FF7.

By the way, on a bad streak, you stand to lose ~5000 coins per hour. That's why I bought 20k, so I could "last" at least 4 hours. I wasn't going to race or play any more slots than the 10k net, so I figured I'd have purchased at least 20k coins anyway. Besides, it's much easier to make 200k gil than 20k casino coins. Just farm Yomi or Raspatil a few times. In the end, with the haggle skill and storyline Casino Tickets, I didn't need to buy any additional coins to purchase all the special items at the shop.

Argh, this achievement is so annoying. I'm going to have to come back to it after gil farming a lot - had a try at the slot machines and I got locked into Super Victory mode and kept getting absolutely no sets of 3 anything, so was down by thousands.

And for the record I think an achievement should be for doing something challenging, not for being lucky :C

For the achievement, go with Chocobos. I did the Silver Chocobo thing (used him as my Sentinel anyways) and it only took one campaign (and an additional race since I went for items instead of coins) to gain 10,000coins. Sure he isn't decked out with +30%hp, resistances, and all that good stuff, but he's never failed against any boss, Colosseum or gameplay wise.

For the fragment, you can actually be down coins and still end up getting it.

Fuck this. I got the achievement by doing the silver chocobo racing very effortlessly. That also gave me enough to buy the fragments & wild artifact from the store. But this is so miserable trying these slots just to get the lucky coin fragment. That's what I'm struggling with. WHY IS THIS GODFORSAKEN SLOT SHIT THE HARDEST THING IN THE WHOLE GAME? I've tried auto play and manual. I've tried precisely aiming where to stop the reels. Nothing works. Why did Square think this was a good idea to implement this into the game as a requirement. It's bad enough they repeated those damn clock puzzles ad nauseum. I never want to see a clock puzzle again or this casino.

I wasn't too fond of the Chocobo racing so I went with the slots. It took about 10 hours of leaving the Xbox running and using the auto trick. Also for those having trouble, if you get a good payout, exit the slots and save! Even if you are in Victory mode it won't go away after exiting and saving. That actually saved me a few times.

So to those still going for it, just keep trying, it happens eventually!

Got it within a few hours today....(PS3)

I was leveling up in Academia and earnt around 180,000G which I exchanged into coins. I then left the machine running for 45 minutes whilst I watched an episode of Smallville and was about 5k up.

I then repeated this a couple times more and was soon 10k up and got the trophy.

You don't need to leave it for a long amount of time, small 45 minute sessions work just as well.

I'll be going for the actual achievement by doing the chocobo races. But I still need the 7777 fragment, so I'm stuck with slots for now.

I know people constantly say "it's random, the devs couldn't possibly have blabla", but I'm sitting here, seeing this pattern come up in rotation over and over:

Column 1

Chocobo Moogle Seven

Column 2

Moogle Ochu Bomb / Moogle Cactuar Chocobo

Column 3 Mooch Chocobo Cactuar

Columns 1 and 3 are the same consistenly, and 2 rotates between the two possibilities. Every now and then things change and I get a winning, but then it drops back to this same pattern, endlessly.

Everyone is all about the winning...win win win win!

Well, with chocobo racing you can lose every single race (I don't suggest it until you get up to Falcie races) and still get the 10,000 since the achievement is for winning the coins and not necessarily having your chocobo win them in races.

Simple enough. I do suggest getting a Silver Chocobo and maxing the level (so you can get up to the Falcie series) but instead of spending an excess amount of time searching for the infusions you can go straight to racing.

Check the odds and who is favored to win. Any chocobo with a * is favored and then it goes down from there to A, B, C, etc. Check the chocobo's odds. If it is 5 or better (I would see them at 5.7 to 6.4) you then bet 100 on them. I would generally put 100 bets on the top two ranked chocobo's cause the topped rank doesn't always win. Then with your chocobo come in second or third and get the second or third place prize. I would get 800 to 1000+ coins per race once I figured this out (since you need ~30k for the 4 things you need to buy).

Occasionally, it will throw a loop and have the favored with 1.5 odds. This only gives you 150 with a win. So there is the occasional loss from this one since you can't check the odds before you enter the race screen.

Reason I started doing this is the odds for your own chocobo is so low that with a win and betting on yourself you really don't get much more than 500 a race. The only advantage to actually winning is if you want the adamantite or something else.
