xIIZombieIIx
So Im trying to make an educated decision on buying an HDTV... I will use it for gaming 75% of the time and have already decided I would rather go with LCD instead of Plasma... The TV I am looking at getting is a 37" widescreen with a 720p native resolution, capable of displaying 1080i. Am I correct in believing most 360 games only go up to 720? I know there are a few that go up higher, but for the most part it seems the games I own go to 720. Here are the specs... tell me if you think it sounds good or any tips you might have for finding a great one... or finding a good one on a budget. http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Display Area 37"http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gif http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Aspect Ratio 16:9http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gif http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Contrast Ratio 1600:1http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gif http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Resolution 1366 x 768 http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Signal Compatibility 480i, 480p , 720p , 1080i http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Inputs VGA (15-Pin D-Sub) Component In HDMI In Composite Video In http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Outputs Audiohttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gif http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Output Terminals Headphonehttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gifhttp://images.tigerdirect.com/main/pixel-clr.gif http://images.tigerdirect.com/main/gfx-blkbullet.jpg Unit Dimensions (WxHxD) 36.7" x 29.3" x 10.2"

highpass
Would it not be wiser to go with a resolution of 1280x720? This is after all the native 720p res. 1366x768 is neither 1080i nor 720p.
xIIZombieIIx
Yeah that does seem an odd res... not sure if since it is 720p native, that that res allows it to go to 1080i?
Sarge McLarge
Would it not be wiser to go with a resolution of 1280x720? This is after all the native 720p res. 1366x768 is neither 1080i nor 720p. 1366x768 is actually extremely common for 720p sets and just about every major manufacturer uses panels with that particular resolution (Sharp, Sony, Samsung, etc), so it might actually be more difficult for him to find a 1280x720 set these days . xIIZombieIIx
I am glad to hear that... I thought I was going to have to deal with one of those stupid perks of being on a budget... lol.
highpass
Sarge, how right you are. Why on earth is this?
SteelerXBox360
Since you are gaming most of the time, I agree that an LCD TV is your best choice. This might be a product of LCDs but all looks good except for the CR of 1600:1, which seems a little low. I thought mine was low @ 3000:1 as some come upwards of 10000:1. The size seems good too as mine is 42" and that is plenty big for me. Also, the size really depends more on the space it is in and how far away you are from watching it. If this is in a small to mid-sized room than it should be the right size for you. Plus, if you sit close, like I do, then it will be plenty...enjoy! Sarge, how right you are. Why on earth is this? I believe that this is due to a lot of people using 1080i, as this will get you closer to the 1920 x 1080 native resolution for 1080i.

X2. Having a native resolution at 720p is usually better. I noticed they're a little harder to find but I'm getting one around that.

I own a 27" Westinghouse HDTV that was bought a few years back at Best Buy. My native resolution is set an exact 1280X720. I don't see my tv on the market anymore. To tell you honestly, it might have been discontinued.
