Got to the Silo mission and cleared 3 of 6 buildings.

There's been some cheap kills against me by the AI, but the most frustrating part of this game has to be your own team AI. So many times I've been doing well, only for a squad mate run directly in front of my fire. Silly b*****ds!

4th building is tough to get to, because even though I cleared the previous building, the Nazi's are running in and out of there. This means I get flanked on both sides, and because your team won't go upstairs, the learning curve for the level is pretty tough.

Tough. But a lot of fun.

I agree with that one...I finished COD2 about a month ago, and that particular mission took me the longest and had so many deaths there...frustrating too was that I finally made it to the silo and after the first wave a final shell hit the silo and at the same point that I died the checkpoint came, so when I restarted the checkpoint I would die 2 seconds later ... had restart the whole mission because of that....barely kept my controller in one piece :-) Besides that mission the rest was do-able and felt like a real achievement when I finally finished the game. IMO on of the harder(est) COD Vet I've done.

The exact same thing has just happened to me mate. Just got to the silo and died. Then the check point starts again just as a mortar is in the air and my gun is slowly being reloaded. 1 minute 50 on the clock too. Son of a....:uzi: GAAAAAAAAH!

I always save and quit after certain checkouts, so I hope it reloads just before I climb the silo. Not too sure if that will work though. Its too tough a mission to want to start from scratch though. Its one of those levels where luck has to be on your side. One minute you could be one-shot killed, the next you could get riddled only then have your team mates get in the way and get you killed. I got lucky because most the enemy seemed to run at me instead of shooting me from the distance on the last 3 plots.

Got very lucky with my save point. When I just loaded the game up I was still at the bottom of the silo... thank cripes!

You know what put me off the most on this part? The squaddie shouting out directions. Once I ignored him and just used the gold stars on the compass I had no issues, actually enjoyed it. Became quite the Devil sniper and got most before they even set the mortars down.

Started Caen and then got shot in the face lol. Will give that a go tomorrow. That new machine gun for the English is frikkin mint though. Next to no recoil and a really great sight.

Anyway I'm off to watch some Band of Brothers before I check out some sleep well free net porn :D

EDIT: Crapolla!

Was doing well at Caen but then got stuck trying to get into the church. After about the 30th attempt my team finally started to help. So whilst they had the left side I went for the right. Nazi pops right out in front of me and for some stupid reason I press triangle and all sorts and ended up throwing a grenade as he shot the crap out of me.

Thats too much to go back to straight away, so I'll give it another blast in a few days.

Don't care how tough the game is, its still a lot of fun. My aim is to play through 2, 3, MW (Dreading No Fighting in the War Room - Purely because its a timed mission - Adds even more difficulty), MW2 and possibly MW3. I tried the demo of CoD classic but the came was just too crap. Excellent years back on PC, but even CoD2 feels highly advanced compared to it.

Tell you what I do love about CoD2. The loading times. I can pop the game in, load the save and then be playing in 30 seconds lol.

The Silo, moving from buildings A to F. There were so many dudes in the second floor of F. After that it was cake. Even the sniper part wasn't bad (I had the sniper with 10 bullet clip).

The Brigade Box gets an honorable mention, that ending where you have to defend the house from germans for 3 minutes then make your way over to a tank and destroy it was nuts. I didn't have any smoke grenades either which made it so much tougher.

Other than that there were a few parts (that fast tank in Stalingrad, the Tiger German HQ building, getting up Hill 400, Crossing the Rhine) that were tough but none that seemed impossible.

I've been playing through Black Ops 1 on veteran and it just seems unfair in comparison. The aimbot enemies who prefire you, shoot you around corners, kill you in 2 hits, know your exact position at all times, can shoot through smoke as if it wasn't there at all, etc. It just feels cheap. I'm stuck in the tunnel at the end of Executive Order and feel like I'll need dumb luck to get through it. As hard as Cod 2 was, the enemies weren't complete douche nozzles.
