Achievement Guide and Road Map

Recommended Posts

Overview:

-Estimated achievement difficulty: 5/10

-Offline: 10 (250http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/site/gp-g.jpg)

-Online: 0

-Approximate amount of time to complete: 5-10 hours

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1

-Number of missable achievements: None!

-Do cheat codes disable achievements?: No Cheats

-Does difficulty affect achievements?: No

-Glitchy achievements: Depot Demolition & Completionist

-Unobtainable achievements: None!

-Extra equipment needed?: None!

Of the three DLCs thus far, this one is by far my favorite. The most difficult part of the game will be avoiding the glitches in the Armory.

Introduction:

Welcome to the Secret Armory of General Knoxx! This DLC is playable the moment you download it off of the marketplace. To begin it, simply go to a New You station and fast travel to T-Bone Junction. The good thing about the DLC is that there are no missable achievements. There are however glitchy achievements. Both Depot Demolition and Completionist can be hard to get if the game glitches on you.

The way the game glitches on you is while doing the armory quests (Armory Assault, Super Marcus Sweep and It's Like Christmas) the door to the Armory will shut permanently. The reason this happens is that when you have more than one of the above quests in your quest log at a time, the game checks off some objectives prematurely thus causing the doors to the armory to shut permanently. The other way this happens is when you enter the elevator shaft in the armory, quitting out before the armory explodes causes the doors to once again stay shut. Note that even if you don't do the two above scenarios there's still a chance your game can glitch.

If you are unlucky enough to have this happen to you (it happened to me twice) you have two options. First you can start over completely in your other playthrough and try to avoid the glitch. The other option is to play coop with someone else hosting and complete the quest in their game. There is a thread dedicated to helping those who are glitched HERE. Simply post your glitched quest, playthrough and gamertag and hopefully someone will help you.

Playthrough:

Although you can begin on either playthrough, odds are that you are a level 50 character and are trying to get to level 61 and find some nice loot. With that in mind it's best to do this DLC on playthrough 2. The hard thing about starting this DLC is that all missions in playthrough 2 begin at level 51 difficulty. With that in mind, you may find it useful to complete some quests from the original story or the other DLCs. That way you can begin at a higher level and thus have an easier time starting out.

As you play through the DLC, complete every quest you can to work towards Completionist. There are only two quests that may give you any sort of trouble solo. Those are the Circle of Duty quests and the You. Will. Die quest (where you fight Crawmerax). For either of those quests you can enlist the help of others from the site through the use of the Achievement Trading Thread.

Conclusion:

Other than what's above, all you need to do is use the guide below and you should be able to max out this fairly enjoyable DLC. Good luck!

Build the New Car: Monster

Awarded for completing the quest in T-Bone Junction entitled "Greasemonkey." You get this quest from Scooter as soon as you complete the DLC's second quest, "Boost the Monster." That quest requires you to find three parts for the new vehicle.

- The supercharger can be found in the lowest portion of the level closest to the far right semicircle as seen on the map. It's almost dead center of the map and behind a small shack.

- The nitrous oxide tank can be found in the middle of the right semicircle of the map in a trash pile Near Marcus' place. NOTE: Going near this part will begin the quest "Wanted: Dead!"

- The exhaust pipe can be found at the bottom of top left semicircle attached to a car that's crashed into a pole. It's right next to Zed's place.

With all three parts in hand, return to Scooter's and put the pieces on the Monster. After installing the parts, hit the switch and watch the scene. Once the Monster disappears, turn the quest into Scooter for the achievement.

Rescue Athena

After you complete the quest "Prison Break: Over the Wall" you will enter Lockdown Palace and receive the quest "Prison Break: Try Not to Get Shanked." Your goal here is to Kill Mr. Shank, grab the PTD and free Athena. First you must make your way through the prison until you see the shower scene and begin fighting Mr. Shank. The key to fighting him is to stay far away (he's a melee fighter) and take his shield down with an electric elemental weapon. Once his shield's down, you can shoot him with a fire weapon and he'll be dead in no time. After he falls, pick up the PTD next to his body and fight your way to Athena's cell. The achievement unlocks the moment you hand the PTD over to Athena.

Destroy the Lance Depot

After you complete the quest "Bridge the Gap" you will enter Road's End and receive the quest "Armory Assault." Your goal here is to kill General Knoxx, enter the code to the Armory (Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Orange) and blow up the Armory. The only difficult part of this for some may be killing General Knoxx. The easiest way to defeat him is to use a highly corrosive weapon on him. Also, be sure to kill any medics that appear right away. They love to drop their healing turrets which heal Knoxx very quickly. After Knoxx is dead, the rest of the mission is self explanatory.

GLITCH WARNING: In order to avoid your game glitching and making the Armory permanently closed, you must do the following:

- Do not quit out of the game once you enter the elevator shaft. Wait until the Armory explodes and the credits are done to quit out.

- Don't have the quests "Super Marcus Sweep" or "It's Like Christmas" in your quest log.

Kill Crawmerax the Invincible

This is probably the hardest achievement in the DLC to do solo since he is level 64 on both playthroughs. Crawmerax is a giant lobster type monster that you fight during the quest "You. Will. Die." The hardest part about him is that both he and the little minions he has running around him can take almost all your health in just one hit. This means that you need to use a lot of teamwork with your partners to ensure that no one is concentrated on by the enemy. The way to actually injure Crawmerax is to shoot the purple soft spots on his body. He has six in total - one in his eye, one on each of his four claws and one on his back. Once the final purple spot is destroyed, Crawmerax will fall and drop a LOT of loot (very rarely pearlescents though).

In addition to the above, there are a couple of other little tips that may help you defeat this giant lobster.

- For his minions that annoy the heck out of you, the Green Craw Worms are weak against fire, the Armored Craw Worms are weak against corrosive, and Craw Maggots are weak against shock.

- There is a spot you can get Crawmerax stuck in that can really help you kill him fast. Read HERE for more info. Thanks to Powerman1469 for the help.

Kill each of the loot midgets

Loot midgets are fairly tough little buggers that jump out of various loot containers. They come in five varieties and can sometimes be found in multiple locations. Below is a list of the types of loot midgets and at least one of their locations:

Meat Popsicle: Hides in refrigerators. Can be found in the lowest portion of T-Bone Junction, in the midget village in Sunken Sea or in Lockdown Palace around where you fight Chaz.

Dumpster Diver: Found in the dumpster in the area where you kill Motorhead

Truxican Wrestler: Found in one of the lockers at the beginning of Lockdown Palace

Mini Steve: Found inside normal red weapons chests. Can be found in one in Lockdown Palace

Crimson Shorty: Found in one of the Crimson Lance Chests at the end of the Road's End map (just before the Armory)

Destroy a Lancer while in a Racer

Racers are the vehicle you drive around from the original game. They are the weakest of the three vehicles you can choose from. Lancers are the APCs that the Crimson Lance drive around. They essentially look like a tank with wheels. The racers become available for you to drive after you talk with Moxxi for the first time.

Once you are able to drive a racer, head on up to "The Ridgeway." If you haven't already, grab a racer and head down the ramp. At the bottom there should be a Lancer. The easiest way to kill it is to stay as far away as you can and shoot rockets at it. If you are being shot at, simply swerve back and forth. The weapon on the Lancer is direct fire, so if you move around they can't hit you. Once the Lancer is destroyed, the achievement will pop.

Reach Level 51

This achievement should come fairly early on into the DLC. You should be on playthrough two at this point and I suggest that you play the DLC on it to maximize the amount of experience you can gain. If you're like me, you may not have finished playthrough two of the original game. If this is true, I suggest you do those quests to get yourself to about level 52/53 before you even start the DLC. The reason for this is that playthrough two quests for this DLC start at level 51. If you're under that, you may have a tough time surviving.

See Ding! Overleveled to 11 for more info.

Reach Level 61

This is the highest you can get your level to legitimately. Getting there will require you to accumulate 5985083 total experience. Though this may sound like a lot, there's more than enough experience available in this DLC to make it there. Any experience earned from the original game or other DLCs count towards you experience total. Therefore if you haven't completed missions from those stories feel free to do so once download this DLC. With completing missions and killing enemies, you should level up very quickly. If you want to really expedite the process though, you could try to join a group killing Crawmerax as that boss and his minions give boat loads of XP.

Complete all missions in Secret Armory

Below is a list of all missions available in this DLC. They are separated by area you receive them with the quest giver in parentheses. You must complete all of these missions in the same playthrough in order to get the achievement. In other words, playing all but one mission in playthrough 2 and the other in playthrough 1 will not net you the achievement.

NOTE: This list should be complete, but my game glitched a couple times so if one or two slipped through the cracks please let me know.

Paid for a worthless tour of the world's largest bullet

This achievement can be obtained while doing the mission "Code Breaker: Time is Bullets." Since the mission will give you a waypoint to the place where you take the tour. In the map, Sunken Sea, there is a little outlaw village near the bottom left hand corner of the map. It has a Vehicle Station and a Shop located in it. At the entrance of the village you'll see a light-up sign that says "World's Largest Bullet." Upon entering the village, head straight inside towards the shack in front of you. Use the cash box on the side of the shack that has the arrows pointing at it. Once you press http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/../images/misc/x.png, enjoy your errr....tour. The achievement should pop right away. Lastly, you should know that the tour itself costs $8 million, so if you don't have that much you can't get the achievement.

It might be worth mentioning that the tour of the world's largest bullet costs 8 million dollars. if you don't have that much, nothing will happen when you try to take the tour.

otherwise, great guide.

Hey, so my girlfriend and I have been playing the DLC for a long time now, and we've been hunting down all the loot midgets lately as we clean up the last few missions.

On our way to do "It's Like Christmas!" we found Crimson Shorty, our last midget on the list. But neither of us got the achievement. In a multiplayer game, does each individual player have to score the kill, does it have to be all in one continuous game (like is it alright that we shut the game off between midgets), or does it give the achievement to the whole group, regardless of who killed what and when? If anyone knows, that'd be a great help. :)

My friend and I just got the achievement. I killed 3/5 midgets and he killed 2/5, so it doesn't matter who kills them. You must have missed one, or it didn't save when you killed one of them. We didn't have to kill them all in one continuous game.

Shouldn't be able to miss the locations of the assassins for the Wanted mission. Are you 100% positive that you've been to all the locations? As far as getting the viral achievement, just join a random game on LIVE. Most people have the achievement these days anyway.

I also found a meat popsicle in lockdown palace in a fridge near where you fight chaz on my way in though

Just wanted to say thanks for the completionist list. My playthrough 2 glitched after I had all missions except for Armory Assault and Loot larceny completed, I totally would have forgotten Lost Lewts, and the video you added definitely helped

Maybe being a little picky, but:

Racers are not the cars you drive in the original game, Runners are -- And it's not a case of "same car, different name". They are two totally different cars.

Your friend probably drove in the monster when you joined his game and that gave you the achievement or he was just working on/finishing the mission. Ive seen it happen before

So just so I understand correctly I can complete all of these achievements 100% and still go back to the armory for weapons? I know there's a possibility of a glitch but say I don't get glitched and complete everything to get 100% achievements can I go back? Or after you blow the armory is it 100% over for that character?
