Introduction

Flashback is a 2-D shooter from 1992 that received a major graphical overhaul. The game stars Conrad B. Hart as he tries to recover his erased memory and defeat an alien species trying to assimilate the world into itself.

Step 1

Play through the game on either Easy or Normal mode. You'll want to keep your eyes open for all the upgrades you can find while familiarizing yourself with the game. Each run will take from 1.5 hours (if you're really quick) to 3 hours. During this playthrough, you'll want to try to get Finish Him, Galactic Explorer, and Master of Virtuality. I also recommend you get the kill-related achievements if you are on easy mode.

Step 2

Once you have completed the rest of the achievements, play on Hard mode to earn Super Agent, Hero, and Maximum Overdrive (if you haven't already gotten all your upgrades or reached level 30).

Achievement-specific guides:

You have killed an enemy by finishing him

Go to the Training Grounds, and go to the Sneak and Grab Tutorials on the left. Sneak up behind the training target and press :bbut: when prompted. Conrad will quickly dispatch of him, and you'll unlock this achievement.

Complete the game on Easy mode. See Super Agent

You have completed the game in Hard mode

Complete the game on Hard mode. The game has 6 main levels that you must play through. Simply complete the game on it's respective mode to unlock the achievement. The difficulty achievements do stack, so completing the game on Hard made will unlock Rookie, Agent, and Super Agent. The easiest ways to defeat your enemies are to perform executions (sneak up behind an enemy and press :bbut:; doesn't work on the aliens or the drones). Use these strategies:

Drones: Keep shooting at them. Be careful, when they fall to the ground, they explode.

Mutants: You can either keep shooting at them, or use the Heavy Shot on them. Keep charging and releasing, and you'll be able to shoot them without them firing back.

Cyborgs: These guys will fly around above you. Quickly run past the and shoot at their jetpack. It will cause them to fly around and explode.

Replicants: Same as the Mutants, but they can teleport closer to you. When they do, back up and keep using your Heavy Shot or quick trigger pulls.

Aliens: Timed right, you can Heavy Shot them without getting hit (you'll need a leveled-up Heavy Shot). If they turn into a blob, stand in one spot until it is at your feet, then move out of the way before it reforms. Keep up the Heavy Shots, and don't forget your Force Field.

Bosses:

Large Titan Mutant: Same as regular Mutants

Death Tower boss: Toss a grenade at him to make his Force Field disappear, then shoot away Rinse and repeat.

Ian: Just like an Alien, above. He is the first one you encounter.

Auxiliary Brain: Shoot the ball above and to the right all the way to the left. When the Force Field disappears, shoot (or Heavy Shot) away. If the Force Field comes back up, kill the Alien that spawns, and repeat.

Hive Brain: Shoot the red orbs at the end of the tentacles, then kill the aliens (these are weaker than normal). Repeat until dead.

You have killed 200 enemies with explosives

Go to a VR Station, then Cyborg challenges, then choose the collect orbs challenge. Kill as many Cyborgs as you can by shooting out their jetpacks. It may take a while, but it is the easiest way. You can track your kills on the "Back" menu.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+GzBCA==.jpgHeavy Fire 20:gsicon:

You have killed 500 enemies with the Heavy Shot

Go to a VR Station, then Drone challenges, then choose the collect orbs challenge. If your Heavy Shot is a high enough level and you are on Easy mode, it should take one (maybe 2) Heavy Shots to take out a drone.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+Yw5mw==.jpgTerminator 20:gsicon:

You have killed 50 enemies with an Execution

Go to a VR Station, then do the Sneak tutorial 50 times. Easy and simple. Difficulty doesn't matter for this one.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+qstlQ==.jpgHero 50:gsicon:

Conrad has reached level 30

As you explore the world, destroy Morph Eyes, and earn kills, you'll earn experience. This will come over time, but may take 3 playthroughs. Each time you level up until you hit 30, you'll earn 3 skill points to spend. You'll also earn 1 skill point for each set of Morph Eyes you kill (1 per level, 6 total per save game), and 1 skill point for completing the Drone, Replicant, and Cyborg challenge sets (3 total per save game).

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+0vVBg==.jpgGalactic Explorer 40:gsicon:

You have reached 100% in World Exploration

I recommend you follow CandiedSkull's guide here. Of note is the Generator area of New Washington. He also has all the Morph Eyes in his guide.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+GSKqg==.jpgFight Club 20:gsicon:

You have killed 50 enemies with a melee attack

Simply use a melee attach to kill your enemies. I recommend doing this on Easy mode and as you are fighting one enemy at a time. You can lure them to come to you on a platform to hit them 2-3 times before they fall, just for them to jump back up.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+kWDHw==.jpgMaster of Virtuality 50:gsicon:

You have completed all VR challenges

There are 10 challenges total: Stealth Challenge, and 3 for each of Drones, Cyborgs, and Replicants. This section will be updated at a later date with details.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2668/+6V7jA==.jpgMaximum Overdrive 50:gsicon:

You have obtained the maximum level for every upgrade

Collect all the upgrades. There are 48 of them total, and they will require more than 1 playthrough to get them all. Keep your eyes peeled and your Molecular Glasses on to find them all. I recommend using EddyB43's guide here to find them.

Finally a guide up, I was too lazy for that. Just some minor changes, you missed out a few achievement descriptions like Galactic Explorer, Fight Club and Master of Virtuality. I know it's obvious but it looks better for a complete guide. Other than that nice one PhilJol, looks good! +1

I meant the actual description for each one is missing, e.g.:

No worries, it's no biggie but it just looks better and every guide on this site has it!

Isn't Galactic Explorer a missable achievement, as you would have to do another run-through if you didn't properly explore all cells of the Generator area per Mission 3 of the Work Center?

Not that it's far into the game, and I don't know if there's a NewGame+ that keeps your map completion, but on a single run-through it could cause a problem if you can't revisit that area (from what I recall of the original game).

Correct, from my 3 runs it looked like New Game+ didn't carry over your map completion percentage. Map squares are dull blue again until you revisit them.

I got Galactic Explorer on the first playthrough though, so I can't confirm how the game handles it if you missed it... but I'd be surprised if it does. And yes, the one square above the Generator is unreachable and not required, but every other square is.

EDIT: On the plus side, if you're playing through for achievements then you'll need at least a 2nd playthrough for level 30, probably a 3rd. You'll definitely need a 3rd for all upgrades, maybe more if you get unlucky & miss some.

Been a while since I played the game, but it's definitely broken in a few ways. And I did legitimately get 400/400.

I remember having the flying bots appear, and somehow get at the one elevator at one of the stations. Somehow, it 'stopped' it from going all the way up. And when it went down, it went down an extra floor, thus keeping me from actually ever using it again, as it saved its bad state. Thankfully, restarting the level worked in clearing up, but it was a real WTF event in the game.

The original was fun and unique, but the remake... not so much. Shame, too.

Officially declaring "hax" to anyone who has 400/400 in this game.

Unless you get a silenced shot option the stealth challenge is officially broken. The damn execution will sometimes NOT kill the guy and I'll get spotted.

The fuck kind of bullshit is that?

Declare "hax" all you want, I got everything legitimately. If I could hack games, I would have gotten 100% on Revolution (windows Phone) along time ago. Damn lack of developer support.
