Introduction

Adera is a 3D point-and-click puzzle adventure game that follows Jane Sinclaire as she journeys to the mysterious city of Adera in search of her missing grandfather. Throughout the game, you will have to solve puzzles, collect artifacts, and explore the environments to reveal the mysteries of Adera. The game boasts vibrant, crisp visuals, but a rather weak, though sufficient storyline. Currently Episode Two of the game costs $4.99 in the Windows 8 Store.

Step 1: All collectibles, less than 5 hints, no rapid-tap warnings

Play through the game on the easiest difficulty Tourist, focusing on being very thorough and gathering all the collectibles that you can. Also, DO NOT use more than 5 hints in the Episode. If you are stuck, see the story-related achievements below for a brief walkthrough on finding items to progress through the story. You can skip all the puzzles if you wish as they have no impact on the achievements. Also take the 5 Hidden Object games slowly so you do not get any rapid-tap warnings.

Take note of the miscellaneous achievements, particularly the "Missed It By That Much" and the "Page Flipper" achievements when you get near the end of the episode. See their descriptions so you do not miss them.

Step 2: Mop-up collectibles

After beating the game, continue from the last checkpoint (just before the end cutscene). You will have full run of all areas of the episode. Find the remaining collectibles using THIS guide.

Step 3: Hidden Object game in less than 30 seconds

If you did not get this on your first playthrough, start a new game and use the guide to get this on the first Hidden Object game, which takes only 30 seconds to get to from the episode's beginning.

Conclusion

Episode Two can be completed in under 3 hours as long as you are careful of the missable achievements. While the collectibles are often well hidden, you will likely find most of them with little trouble by yourself. For those that you miss, they can easily be tracked down in a few minutes using the collectible guide.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Why Did It Have to Be Bees? - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Chase away the bees and enter the mysterious Aderan city.

Get the torch from the Hidden Object game that is in the small rectangular pond of water. The game is located in the scene across the stone bridge. Light the torch in the fiery pipe found by zooming in to the right of the stone bridge. Get the straw from the bird's nest found to the left of the stone bridge on a rock (only after giving the bird the berries, completing the puzzle, and the bird flying away). Get the three wood planks:

  1. At the start of the episode, turn around and zoom in on the broken bridge you just came across at the end of Episode 1. It is on the ground in the grass to the left.
  2. In the scene with the broken gate (with the satchel behind it), zoom in on the sentry position (stone structure to left of gate). It is on the ground in the grass to the right of the structure.
  3. In the scene past the stone bridge. Zoom in on the spiky plant. They are resting on top of one of the stone blocks in plain sight.

Go back to the fire pit below bee's nest. Place the straw in, then the three wood planks, then use the lit torch to light a fire which creates smoke and scares the bees away.

Observe a childhood memory of Jane and her grandfather, Amaro.

After scaring the bees and climbing the vine to enter the city you will see a door and a statue ahead. Click on the statue and there will be a cutscene. At the end of the scene, this achievement unlocks.

Find a use for the kaleidoscope.

To get the kaleidoscope, you first need the hooked staff. This can be found in the pile of rocks next to the main gate with the hole. Use the hooked staff on the hole to get to the kaleidoscope from inside the satchel.

When you get to the scene with the glowing tree (path left of sundial), use the kaleidoscope on the box with the triangular key slot in the grass.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg The Glow - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pour the glowing mixture into the base of the sundial.

There are many steps to completing this achievement.

  1. Get gauntlets - Zoom in on the structure to the left of the red gate with a hole in it. Click the cloth to reveal these.
  2. Get torch and light it - See "Why Did It Have To Be Bees?" for more information.
  3. Use the gauntlets on the red ivy at the base of the glowing tree. Complete the Hidden Object game to get the trowel and jerky.
  4. In the scene with the sundial, grab the ceremonial bowl, which is sitting on the ground just to the right. Now, zoom in on the sundial. Get the stone fish from the ground on the right.
  5. Take the path directly behind the sundial. Zoom in on the caiman to the right. Use the jerky to get the caiman to go away. Complete the puzzle to cross the lagoon.
  6. At the shrine (scene once you cross lagoon), use the stone fish on the emblem to the right (brown circular thing). It will fill the basin with a liquid and expose a fire pit.
  7. Go to the fire pit on the opposite side and use the lit torch to start a fire. It will warm the liquid in the basin and transform its color.
  8. Use the ceremonial bowl on the basin to gather some of the liquid.
  9. Go back to the sundial and use the bowl with the glowing mixture on the bottom of the sundial.

Properly place the missing items on six statues.

Once the sundial is filled with the glowing mixture, head back to the area with the statue with the mechanical bird. There will now be six illuminated statues that have risen. Place the item mentioned on each.

  1. Sun statue - Place the sun lantern here. In the scene with the glowing tree, use the kaleidoscope to open the box in the grass. The lantern is inside that box. See "It's Not Just A Toy" for the location of the kaleidoscope.
  2. Flower statue - Place the star flower here. First, get the trowel. See #3 in "The Glow" achievement for the location. Use the trowel on the grub-infested log near the glowing tree on the ground to get some grubs. Use the grubs on the carnivorous plant to the left of the glowing tree to get the star flower.
  3. Wind statue - Place the wind chime here. In the glowing tree scene, zoom in on the branches of the tree on the left. The wind chime is in plain sight in this screen.
  4. Butterfly statue - Place the glowing butterfly here. First you need to find the crystal leaves. In the scene with the glowing tree, zoom in on the upper left portion of the tree to its branches. Get the crystal leaves from the top left portion of the screen. Then go across the lagoon. In the shrine area with the glowing mixture basin, turn around and place the crystal leaves in their missing location in the pillar. A butterfly will come out of a cocoon. Collect that butterfly.
  5. Seed statue - Place the bag of seeds here. In the scene with the sundial, zoom in on the black gravestone directly behind the sundial. It is to the left, resting in a bush.
  6. Sprout statue - Place the sprout here. In the scene with the sundial, zoom in on the large black gravestone on the left. It is right in front of the gravestone. It is the small plant.

Once all the items are placed in their respective statues, the original statue with the mechanical bird will become illuminated and the achievement will unlock.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg So Close - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Arrive at the tower where Jane believes Amaro is located.

Once the main statue is illuminated, there will be a puzzle to complete by clicking on the mechanical bird. Once completed, a clockwork gear will drop. Pick it up and return to the sundial scene. Zoom in on the box by the sundial and use the gear on it to open the box. Inside is a pocket watch. Take the watch back to the mechanical bird statue and place it. The main gate will become illuminated. Zoom in on the gate and complete the puzzle to open the door. After watching the cutscene, the achievement will unlock.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Trials and Tribulations - 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete the Aderan trials of strength, intelligence, and faith.

Trial 1: This is the far left door of the three trial doors in ceremonial plaza.

  1. Collect the 6 frieze pieces. They are located at your feet as soon as you enter the Aderan city (after climbing the vine).
  2. Use the frieze pieces on the puzzle on the wall behind the red bush at the base of the tower with your family crest on it. You will get a code.
  3. Use the code on the bird hutch to the left of the previous puzzle to unlock it and get the mosaic tile.
  4. Use the mosaic tile on this trial door. Complete the puzzle to open the door.
  5. Go inside and complete the puzzle to get the metal chain. Then zoom in on the stairs that just opened and grab the stone fang from the pedestal.

Trial 2: This is the far right door of the three trial doors in ceremonial plaza.

  1. In the scene at the base of Amaro's tower, zoom in on the shed. After completing the Hidden Object scene, you will get a prybar.
  2. Use the prybar to open the right door in ceremonial plaza.
  3. Go inside and grab the stone paw from the mouth of the cat carving on the wall.
  4. *MISSBALE ACHIEVEMENT* - Missed It By That Much - See description
  5. Complete the puzzle to open a hatch. Inside the hatch is a jaguar hammer.

Trial 3: This is the middle door of the three trial doors in ceremonial plaza. You will need to place all 6 gold weights on the pillar to open the door. They can be found:

  1. From the Hidden Object scene to the left of the bee's nest.
  2. From the Hidden Object scene that is in the little rectangular pond in the scene past the stone bridge.
  3. Zoom in on the statue with the mechanical bird. It is to the left, in the weeds.
  4. In the scene with the lagoon, zoom in on the area with the caiman. After feeding it the jerky, the weight is found in the nest the caiman was sitting on.
  5. Inside the box that opens after completing the puzzle inside the door of Trial 1.
  6. Inside the hatch that opens after completing the puzzle inside the door of Trial 2.

Complete the puzzle inside this middle door to unlock the achievement. Then look up to find a gong in a bird's nest. Zoom in on the stairs and collect the jaguar hammer from the pedestal. You will need all of these items to enter the temple.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Date with Destiny - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Enter the Great Hall and speak with the Elders.

After completing all 3 trials and collecting all the items mentioned in the "Trials and Tribulations" achievement, return to the ceremonial plaza. Zoom in on the gate to the right. Place the stone fang, metal chain, stone paw, jaguar hammer, gong, and jewel eye in the correct locations to open the door to the temple.

Go into the door to the left in the temple scene. Complete this Hidden Object game to obtain the family crest. Click on the temple guard and talk with him. *MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENT* - Page Flipper - See description. Complete the bloodline puzzle to get the ceremonial clothes. You can now enter the temple. Once inside, insert the family crest to start a puzzle. Complete the puzzle to summon the Elders. Achievement unlocks. Episode Two complete.

MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS (5 for 45 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 5 achievements are obtained by completing miscellaneous tasks or requirements, some of which must be maintained over the entire playthrough. They are all missable and will require another playthrough if you do not remember to do them.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Hidden Object Master - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find every item in a Hidden Object scene in under 30 seconds.

You need to collect all the items on the list in under 30 seconds. This can be a challenge especially on your first run through. You also need to be careful not to randomly tap too quickly or you will get a rapid-tap warning (where the screen's glass breaks) and void the "Patience is a Virtue" achievement. You can either use the picture below with all the items labeled on the first Hidden Object scene (in the area with the bee's nest), or just come back on a second playthrough to get this, which would only take an extra minute.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Patience is a Virtue - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete Episode Two without receiving a rapid-tap warning.

A rapid-tap warning can only occur in Hidden Object scenes. It happens when you tap incorrect items too quickly. An animation will show the glass of the screen breaking. Basically the strategy for this achievement is just to take your time and go slow, only clicking on items you are sure are on the list. You can click on incorrect items, but if you do, wait a second or two before clicking another one. There are a total of 5 Hidden Object scenes. If you have done it correctly, it will unlock at the end of the last one, which is in the temple near the end of the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Master Puzzler - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete Episode Two using the hint button no more than five times.

Just do not use the hint button more than 5 times throughout your entire playthrough of Episode Two. The game is actually not that hard and gives you plenty of guidance. The hint button is not even needed. You CAN skip as many puzzles as you want and that will not affect this achievement at all. If you get stuck somewhere, use the Story Related Achievements section of the guide to figure out what to do.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Page Flipper - 5 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Revisit each page in the Journal.

*MISSABLE* Though it is missable, you can just load up your last save after completing the game to get this if you forget. Make sure not to start a new game however as it will erase your progress in the episode. *SPOILERS* At the end of the game, when you are in the temple, talk with the guard. You will get a journal update that is the last of the game. When it pops up, just use the back arrow to scroll all the way back to the first journal entry of Episode Two. The achievement will unlock on the first entry.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPqVhPE=.jpg Missed It by That Much - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Build the tower of stones on the far-right platform in the strength trial.

*MISSABLE* Make sure you get this when your reach the 3 Trials towards the end of the game. If you miss it, you will have to play the entire Episode over again to reach this point. *SPOILERS* When you are doing the strength trial in the right door of ceremonial plaza, you need to assemble the statue on the far-right platform, not the middle one like you are supposed to. This puzzle is fairly simple to complete. One of the possible solutions to this achievement is seen below. Do the steps in order. 1 = Left Platform, 2 = Center Platform, 3 = Right Platform.

1>2, 1>3, 2>3, 1>2, 3>1, 3>2, 1>2, 1>3, 2>3, 2>1, 3>1, 2>3, 1>2, 1>3, 2>3

COLLECTIBLE ACHIEVEMENTS (2 for 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 2 achievements are obtained by gathering all 45 collectibles in Episode Two.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPlUddc=.jpg Casual Collector - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find more than half of the hidden collectibles in Episode Two.

See "Catalog of Wonders."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2467/UPlUddc=.jpg Catalog of Wonders - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find all 45 hidden collectibles in Episode Two.

There are a total of 45 collectibles that need to be found in 11 different categories. Your collectibles do save across multiple playthroughs and only need to be found once. You can check which ones you are missing from the main menu under "Collections," looking under Episode 2 of each category. Always check very closely around each scene and know what you are looking for (i.e. butterflies, small coins, plants etc.) A good tip for when you head into a side-scene (small zoomed-in area within larger scenes) is to continue looking until the game boots you back to the main scene (i.e. do not click the back button), which happens when you have found everything in that screen.

Click HERE for a guide with the locations of all the collectibles. It is recommended you play through once and find what you can on your own, rather than strictly following the collectible guide. You will find most on your own and going step-by-step through the guide can be unnecessarily tedious. Near the end of the game, or after completing the game and loading the final checkpoint, when all scenes are open to explore, you should use the guide to mop-up any collectibles you may have missed.

GUIDE UPDATES:

11/30/12 - Guide started and nearly complete,

12/1/12 - Collectible guide complete and linked to the guide. Proofread and descriptions updated for clarity. More info added to Roadmap for clarity.

12/2/12 - Added a solution to the description of "Missed It By That Much" achievement.

1/30/13 - Added a photo to the guide.

The coin you are missing is the Gold-Plated Elder Coin. It was the last thing I picked up. I think it might be in the Elder room at the end. I believe it was on the ground at your feet if I remember correctly.

I'm still missing the mask as well, played through a couple times and can't seem to find that one.

I dunno if it's glitched or what, but I have all the collectables in the collection screen, but the achievement hasn't popped. I even beat the game again to see if it would pop, but no. It happened to another person too...

Waaaait, nvm. I reopened the game and there were three new categories of collections that weren't there before! Crisis averted!

Hey Arsenic, the latest episode introduced difficulty settings that users can now select before they begin the episodes, so you might want to change the wording on that part of the overview to "no" instead of "no difficulty settings". Also change your episode 1 roadmap. Just a heads up :)
