StayonTarget
As always the guide is a WIP. First come first serve doesn't apply... yada yada... You know the routine. *cough* Dog *cough* Rights of Use This guide is not to be used without the consent of the author (StayonTarget) or Website Admin. http://download.xbox.com/content/images/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802415608e1/1033/banner.png Overview: Estimated achievement difficulty: 4/10 Offline: 50/50 [1000:gsicon:] Online: 0/50 [0:gsicon:] Approximate time: 15 Hours Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2+ Missable achievements: Several Does difficulty affect Achievements: N/A Unobtainable/glitched Achievements: None Extra equipment needed?: No Introduction The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct should be an enjoyable and relativily short completion. Many will come through just playing and many others are extremely easy to unlock. However, some achievements may take some planning to unlock. Playthrough 1 There is no difficulty in this game so you won't have to worry about that. Most achievements will be unlocked through natural progression. This is what you will need to do to unlock all of the achievements in one playthrough. *Need thread for travel locations*Drive all cars (need guide) Find all Squirrels (need guide) This playthrough you should to focus on only keeping male survivors and stick to only taking all of the paths on the right side of the map. This way on your second playthrough you will be able to focus on the female survivors and all other map locations. In order to complete this in two playthroughs, make sure you find all collectibles. While you play through the game you are often forced to take female survivors. They will be dismissed through the story or you can send them on a suicide supply run (80% chance of failing) and that will count towards your achievement for losing 5 survivors. This works for all characters and you will want to do the same thing for male survivors in the next playthrough. It is advised you keep Blake alive. He is the optional police officer found in the first town you are in on the roof. He asks you to find batteries. Not only he is excellent in finding supplies but if you complete the game with him in your party you are given a relic that you can activate to use Silencers on your weapons. Playthrough 2 On the second playthrough you should focus on keeping only female survivors in your party and only traveling to the left destinations on the map. This includes gathering all vehicles and squirrels. Fortunately you can select any relic of your choice to use. The first relic in which you can use the Crossbow and Assault Rifle at the beginning is extremely helpful but so is the one where you have silencers on your weapons. If you take advantage of these then you can run through the game in about 3 hours. Playthrough 3/Wrap Up If you happened to miss any of the collectibles, survivors, or weapons you will be forced to play through the game a third time. Most remaining achievements can be gotten by simply hitting continue after you finish the game. This will put you at the last level of the game. If you play this level extremely stealthily you can unlock the achievements for taking no damage or not being grabbed. The end of the level when you are on the .50 Cal is where you will be able to pick several achievements. Conclusion Hopefully if you followed these steps you were able to complete the game in two playthroughs. This is not a difficult 100% by any means but if you mess up once it does mean you will need to play through the game again. If you play the game how it is meant to be played this should unlock fairly early on. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UPl78EE=.jpgIt's Gotta Be the Brain 45:gsicon: Dismember All Limbs of 5 Walkers Two Heads Are Better Than One 5:gsicon: Kill Multiple Walkers with One Bullet Very easy achievement. When you get the bolt action rifle just aim down your site and line up to walkers. Make sure you can headshot both of them then fire. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoPCHjQT_l4]Two Heads Are Better Than One[/ame] Have a Nice Trip! 20:gsicon: Kill a Walker That Is Falling Due to Dismemberment You need to blow one of a walkers legs off and kill it as it is falling over. Easily done with the double barrel shotgun or in the final sequence of the game when you are using the mounted .50 Cal. Mind if I Borrow This? 15:gsicon: Pull a Bolt From a Walker Then Kill Them With It Shoot a walker with the crossbow anywhere but the head. Walk up and retrieve the crossbow then shoot it in the head with a second shot. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UP8S7Cs=.jpgOoh, Shiny! 15:gsicon: Distract 50 Walkers with Items Items that distract walkers are as listed. FlaresGlass Bottles Car Alarms Flares work best because they last the longest. It is best to keep your flares until you see a group of walkers standing idle. Ideally about 10-15 of them. Throw it into the group without being spotted and it will count towards your total. Some places will have 25+ walkers grouped together. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UPiTQ3A=.jpgThat Looks Like It Hurt 30:gsicon: Restore Survivors 25 Times When you send a survivor out to get supplies at the beginning of a level they will take damage. When you finish the level and if they survived you can give them MREs to restore health. You can give them multiple at a time. You can send the survivors out to get food so it doesn't cost you anything. Extreme Conditioning 10:gsicon: Sprint Until You're Exhausted 10 Times in One Level Simply use the until your character can't run anymore. When the sweet drops are completely absent from your screen that means your stamina has recharged fully. You will most likely get this through natural progression but it can be obtained as soon as you start. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UPzRUBo=.jpgIt's Not Venison, but It'll Do 10:gsicon: Consume 50 MREs MREs are the white food packets you use to regain health. You will consume way more than 50 in your playthrough. If you need more you can send your survivors on a food run while you do the mission. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UP7wWa8=.jpgStill Not Buying a Hybrid 10:gsicon: Consume 250 Fuel If you pick up fuel when you see it, this should unlock by the beginning of your second playthrough. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UPmXE9w=.jpgDuct Tape Can Fix Anything 10:gsicon: Survive 5 Breakdowns When you are using the map and choosing where to travel to, make sure you travel by highway. It has the highest chance of a breakdown. When you breakdown you will be put in either a forest area or a garage. Wander around and look for the part. If you die you can continue from the beginning and the part will be in the same location. Next Step: Bullet Belt 15:gsicon: Fire 300 Bullets Self explanatory. This will most likely unlock during the final sequence of the game when you are using the mounted .50 Cal. You have unlimited ammo and you are shooting at 50 or so walkers. Down to My Last 15:gsicon: Complete the Game with Only 1 Firearm and 1 Bullet Left in Your Inventory Play through the final marked location like you normally would until you are defending the helicopter. Switch to your weapon that has the least amount of ammunition as fire all but one shot. Then you can use any of your other weapons except for that. When you are in the Humvee using the .50 Cal, press and drop ALL weapons and ammo except for the one weapon you have the single round left in. You can have Crossbow Ammo; that won't null the achievement. Continue playing through the game normally from this point without picking up ammo. Achievement will unlock during the final cutscene. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UPu2Gmk=.jpgPorcupine 15:gsicon: Shoot a Walker with 10 Bolts without Killing It Fairly self explanatory. Just aim for the chest, legs, or arms. However, obtaining 10 Bolts at a time may be difficult. If you complete the game once you are able to start with a crossbow. You can try to scavenge as many as you can while you run through the towns. When you add survivors to your group you should also send them on supply runs to get ammo. If the risk is 25-30% then it's is worth it. Anymore and the risk is too big. Any less and they have an even greater chance of coming back. Hopefully they bring back bolts and you will have enough to unlock the achievement. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UP3VALY=.jpgGuys Night Out 20:gsicon: Arrive at Final Destination with Only Male Survivors See "Rosie the Rampager." http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2422/UPw1+CU=.jpgRosie the Rampager 20:gsicon: Arrive at Final Destination with Only Female Survivors At the end of the second to last level in Sherwood you are given the option to save either a man or a woman. This is where you choose which achievement you are going to unlock because they can't be dismissed. You can dismiss the other survivors though at the end of the mission if they are the wrong gender. The best way to do this is to play through the game once and only save male survivors and once only saving female. That way you can save 2+ people and get more relics for the next playthrough (or any missing achievements). StayonTarget
I Used to Be a Human Like You 5:gsicon: Shoot a Walker in the Knee with a Bolt When you finally get the Crossbow in Barksdale you need to shoot a walker in the knee. Aim for the ankle/foot region and it should hit the walker in the knee. This Is How Hot Dogs Are Made 10:gsicon: 10 Walkers Killed with Saw Blades in the Logging Camp In Act II you need to make sure you travel to Oakview. Once there you will meet a black man about halfway through the section. He will direct you to the lumber yard. Go out the door and open the gate to your left (green switch). You will see saw blades. Now you can do one of two things. You can press and punch the walkers in or you can get a bunch chasing you and jump into the saw blade. They will follow you into it and it will tally towards your total. BOOM! Who Needs a Headshot? 15:gsicon: Kill 5 Walkers with One Explosion A good location to get this, although it is not the first, is in Taggart during the second act. After you speak to Charlene Wilson (old black lady), go to the back of the building. By a truck there should be a propane tank. Now stick to the left wall and drop the propane in order to kill the one or two walkers who get in your way. Pick it up again and drop it by the wood fence on the left wall that walkers are trying to break through. Wait until they do then shoot the propane. There's 6 or 7 there and the propane has a large blast radius. Group Hug 5:gsicon: Kill 4 Walkers in a Single Grapple Sequence When a zombie gets very close to you, you will go into a Grapple Sequence. In this sequence you have to move the cursor and stab the zombie in the head. There will be times where you get surrounded by several zombies and spend 30 seconds in a Grapple Sequence. You have plenty of time to kill them all. If you make a lot of noise in a well crowded area all of the zombies will attack you. This will be your chance. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhTW4L2l4J0]Group Hug[/ame] Need a Hand? 5:gsicon: Prevent a Walker from Damaging You by Severing Its Attacking Limb If a walker is swiping at you, you can blast it's arm off with a shotgun or machine gun. An easy and almost surefire way to unlock it is during the final sequence in Firesign Stadium when you are using a mountain .50 Cal Machine Gun. Make an effort to shoot off their arms as opposed to head and this will unlock. The walkers are constantly swiping at the Humvee throughout the entire time. StayonTarget
The Hunted Becomes the Hunter 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Killed 5 Walkers in the Cabot Ridge Creek Bed. In the first location after you leave the house you will be looking for gas cans. There will be a solid 10 zombies to kill. Quite a few can be killed stealthily and the rest with the Bolt Action Sniper. The achievement will unlock at the end of the level. Stay Together, Stay Safe 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png 5 Survivors Were Killed While Scavenging When you are going for completing the game with either all male or female characters, just send the opposite gender to get supplies. The higher the risk the greater their chance of death. You're Doing It Wrong 10http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png Perished 13 Times This is inevitable. Just play through the game normally. Secret? You Go Your Way, I'll Go Mine 5:gsicon: Dismissed a Survivor This will unlock after the first sequence if you rescue the sherif (name needed). Warren you save through the story. Just dismiss one of them (Warren preferably) and the achievement will unlock. StayonTarget
Not to sound rude, but whats the point in making another achievement guide when you will probably just take all the info from the Community Guide? There's several reasons. One being that I was planning on writing before Dog and the other being that I would end up putting so much information into the community guide and I wouldn't really get proper credit for it. I also don't like working with other people... yes, ill send you the videos when there done Sounds good.

Not to sound rude, but whats the point in making another achievement guide when you will probably just take all the info from the Community Guide? Just because the "Community" (and i hope this doesn't become the standard around here). is writing a guide, doesn't mean others should drop their own work. i hate when people ask this dumb question. and you assume he will use material from the other guide lol? what the hell do you think that other guide is doing?... they certainly didn't come up with all the info themselves. StayonTarget
I appreciate the responses and compliments. As for a status update. Most of the achievements I have information for. I need to input that in, then order the achievements, then overhaul the roadmap (which I know is poor). This is one of those games that took a little while for everything to make sense (functionality, features, etc).
