elmelmelm
I've read some of the books, and I want to read the others. Does anybody know if the game has the same plot of the books or if it's only set in the same universe? Because I don't want spoilers. Thanks! eastx
The games take place after the books. The only spoiler would be in the first game they reveal something that happens to Geralt in the final volume, apparently.
TheDeceiver35
For the most part, the game is its own seperate entity, though you will run into characters and locations that also appear in the novels, as well as a few small references to previous events. That being said, if you want to avoid spoilers entirely, you may want to finish the books first, as there are some references to what happened to Geralt in the past, though for the most part they are minor in nature. eastx
Only two books have been translated into English in the first place, but if you speak the other languages that have all the books, you'd be able to read them all. Of the 2 English books The Last Wish is way way better but The Blood of Elves does at least establish how Geralt met that elf lady whose name I forget. furysblade
If I remember correctly, The Last Wish is a collection of short stories which were collected together and a narrative was added. One of the Stories is used as the intro to the first game but the rest of the events take place after the conclusion of the books.
