Virtual Terror
out of curiosity does any one have like a strategy when it comes to getting achievements.
Rolyatkcinmai
I usually have my friend distract the achievements while I flank around back.
Keano
Well I presume most people will use the road-maps now. I just pick up whatever achievements come with playing through the game. I am pretty lazy so I only ever get 1000 on really easy games.
Decland Hatcher
When I get a game, I play casually, then when story mode is done I look back and see what achievements I can get.
frank9080
Well as a whole I take it one game at a time. I don't start another game till I have 1000 in the one I am currently on. I try to keep playthroughs at a minimum. For instance I am currently playing World at War. The guide says two playthroughs, but I am doing 1 then replaying 2-3 missions for the full 1000. Absolutionz
When I get a game, I start on the hardest difficulty (unless I read there is a secret weapon that makes hard a lot easier, i.e Silent Hill), and I check every corner of every area. I'm really thorough in games. But, it all really depends on the game.
NorthernLass
When starting a game I always read through the achievements and then devise a specific strategy for the game. If the achievements are difficulty focused if they are I start on the hardest difficulty if not I just play the game through and try and get the achievements as I go along. Evarist0 X
I usually go through my first playthrough without worrying about any achievements. I may sometimes look at the achievement list to see if there is anything important that can come in handy on my second playthrough. After I finish it then I look into the guides and start my second playthrough.
Pucca Princess
It depends on what I am playing. If it's a RPG, which is what I tend to play most, I will read the achievements and memorise the key ones, but not worry about it till I finish the game. If I miss any, well I will just play it again If it's an arcade game then I do tend to work towards the achievements. I usually go for the lowest points first, as they do tend to be easier. Only exception is multiplayer - I don't usually play multiplayer games so I leave them till last, and then ask for people to help me in Achievement Trading threads. Albinobass
When I get a game, I play casually, then when story mode is done I look back and see what achievements I can get. same here sometimes i take a quick gander to see if i can get most in 1 play through because if i miss one it usually takes me months to go back and finish it

J.Waddo
Before EVERY new game I play, I always used to check these forums for help on where I should start, but now, I just use the Road Maps:p

scarface
I go for the achievements that can be unlocked by playing through the campaign. Same goes for the collection achievements as well. Then I'll play through for any other achievements that I won't have any troubles unlocking.
v_thorne
I usually have my friend distract the achievements while I flank around back. Nice I usually look at them beforehand. Keep the playthroughs to a minimum, and go for the full 1k.
Eternal
I read the roadmaps, play casually, and take a look at what achievements I need.
Gun-Nut
If its a game I buy and plan on playing more then once like Gears 2 I'll play through the game getting whatever achievements pop up then I played through insane and next playthrough will be for collectables. Games I rent I tend to look at the lists and grab as much as I can that includes collectables.
JesusBread
It all depends really. If it's a game that would be a pain in the ass to go back and get items in for all the achievements(Lost Odyssey's Treasure Trove achievement comes to mind), I'll use a guide to getting all the items the first time through. Otherwise, I make sure there are no missable achievements(Or if there are missable achievements, what are they and what do I have to do?) the first time around and once I'm done with the game I'll go for the remaining achievements. eldavido13
I have 2 strategy. 1. Is for games that I plan to sit back and enjoy, there's usually only 5-10 a year. I just play through it , then mop up everything else. 2. Are most games I play, I rip through them with all the guides and maps, get all the GS I can get out of them. These are both fairly new ways for me, From launch till late 2007 I simply played games and and got what ever I got. Then I got hooked on these achievements, and have been whoring ever since. I am now going back and moping up all those games I didn't get much GS out of.
Enter The Nutty
I usually rent easy point games i will look on here and see if there are any glitches or ways to get everything on the first play through. If its a game i actually want to play i will go through on a high difficulty and search every square inch i can find. Then mop up any other achievements i missed. SKIBADABOMSKI
There is one type of game that i can play and forget about achievements and that's good scary games. Like FEAR files just cracked me up and now i am doing Condemned 2 offline ,headphones, lights out. A.S. Guides.
LordDurham
Most of the time, I do one playthrough just for the fun then I work on getting 1000 gs with a strategy.
The Clutch Hand
I recently just got into achievements a couple months ago, but the strategy that seems to be effective is just be paitent. Try not to be a whore and play a bunch of games. Just take one game at a time and work for the 1,000/1,
cincychaos
I get the ones I can from playing through the game and then see what I can do to pick up others, whether that would involve another play through or reloading the game save. If it's a good game, I'll go back, or if I can get the achievement.
