bloodstainedwings
I am going to be getting the Halo MCC 1TB Xbox One soon, I am having trouble deciding if I should play this game. I have played all the halo games before so there is no eagerness to play these games again. With all the troubles this game has had/still has am leaning towards not playing this game, for these reasons parts of me do not want to deal with this hassle these games have become. I have not so good Internet about 3mbps when its working it's best, so downloading 65gigs of data could take over a week on this connection. (I know someone who downloaded the game recently and it was 65gigs total) With all this said do the faults of The Halo MCC, outweigh the fun one could have playing these games? PS Is it true that games where the achievements are not unlocking are the fault of the achievement app, and not the games themselves? BiggD
Depends. If you're more of a Halo MP guy (or solely a Halo MP guy), these games could provide hours of content on end; though the state of the MP is still a little rough. It's miles better than it was at launch and even in March, but there's still some issues. So your desire to play the game might be sour. If you're more of a Campaign guy (like myself, that's the only reason I bought the Collection), then you're still looking at a handful of hours of content despite you already having played the games before. And the Campaigns run really well. People have reported some glitches here and there, but me and my group of three friends didn't experience anything ground-breaking. Speaking for myself, already having playing the Campaigns dozens upon dozens of times in the past didn't detract from the enjoyment that was to experience them all over again through the Collection. Playing through Halo: CE was just as fun as ever, Halo 2 was magnificent with its updated visuals, Halo 3 was okay (it's my least favorite of the four and in Co-Op, it was tremendously laggy and I don't know if this ever got fixed), and Halo 4 was pretty fun, but playing it so close to Halo: CE and Halo 2, it reminded me how different - structurally - the game feels. Still a good narrative to re-experience though. The game is what, $40 now? If you're a Halo fan in the slightest (assuming you are since you've played the games before), I'd say grab it. The Campaigns are great to relive, there's so many achievements to work on over the course of weeks and months, and the MP is fixed now to the point where people are really enjoying themselves (this claim is made evident by spending time on r/Halo and Halo Waypoint). Is it true that games where the achievements are not locking are the fault of the achievement app, and not the games themselves? For the most part, usually yes. Downloading the game is going to take some time, but that's going to happen no matter what. Do you know if Microsoft is aware of the glitch y achievements and if they have any plans to fix it? Downloading the game is going to take some time, but that's going to happen no matter what. Do you know if Microsoft is aware of the glitch y achievements and if they have any plans to fix it? Who knows. I've had the console since launch and it always does that from time to time. There's always a game like every other two months that succumbs to the glitched "Done! Unlocking…" thing. It's a little annoying, but in the end, it's not that big of a deal because the system recognizes you have the achievement, and it'll unlock itself eventually in due time; though I had one "Done! Unlocking…" achievement in Halo: TMCC take like 5-6 weeks before it unlocked properly on its own -_- As far as actually meeting achievement requirements and the achievement just not unlocking whatsoever or getting the "Done! Unlocking…" glitch, I'm not sure what causes that, be it the achievement app/system or the game itself. EDIT: And whoops, my previous response didn't event take into account that the game is already coming with the console. My bad, lol. bloodstainedwings
These achievements not unlocking when they should is a big big problem, you would think Microsoft would fix this problem asap, but NOPE. They are so gun-ho with using the cloud for their achievement app now look where its gotten them. The achievements on the 360 worked great, they should have stuck with what worked. bLaKgRaVy
I've had the game since launch and I've only completed like 8 missions throughout the four campaigns, mainly to get easy achievements (4 of those were just cutscene missions). I've gotten 1,610:gsicon: and I've not had one "Done! Unlocking..." achievement. I guess I've been lucky. In fact, I have 10,695:gsicon: on the One and I've never gotten the "Done! Unlocking...". However, for Wolfenstein: The New Blood, I was denied the challenge achievement (unlock all perks) because a perk achievement unlocked in the game without giving me notification, so the game didn't think I unlocked it. Still sore about that. Don't know why they haven't done anything about it yet. It's ongoing and affects thousands, but yet they improve other things that aren't priority. Some achievements are going to be harder now than when they first were released (like the Spartan Ops ones and the LASO ones because I think there's no checkpoint sharing anymore). I basically got the game to play if I was ever bored and didn't want to play anything else as I've played them all before. I have no intention of getting 100% and I probably won't play any of the campaigns on anything higher than Normal, but I'm cool with that. It's a casual game for me, just like GTA V. I don't regret starting it but I'm pleased with what I have done.
Len lfc
I find when I have these dilemmas, simplifying it helps. Do I want to play it? Yes - Buy it / No - Don't. Simple
US07
No, you'll slowly descend into madness. In all seriousness, if you enjoy Halo then get it. I just use it as something to play when I'm bored.
Distractor08
The funny part for me is that I have never had any achievement problems yet and I have only 60 left (only...). I didn't have an xbox one till late Jan when this came with it. The game will want to reset from time to time, but I never had any achievement problems. jerkstore723
I still encounter a crazy amount of issues playing online multiplayer. It sometimes takes so long to find a match that I just give up and go play something else.
MrWonderful
I have had this game since launch and have been playing Halo since the first game. If this was 2014, I would have said "no". Now that most of the bugs are gone, this game is golden! It is everything I have always wanted in a video game and it is halo too!!! The campaign I can play forever and the multiplayer, even though the past multiplayer had more detailish content, it still holds up with fun. I would grab it! aspeedomodel
Game is worth it for the campaigns alone, so much fun. Throw in the multiplayer which was running great last I played, and you've got an amazing deal @ $40 or less.
Jismacked
I had to get rid of it do to storage issues, once I acquire an external hard drive I'll pick the game back up
Redteardrop
If you like the Halo series and have found there is some replayability to them, then I do think it would be fun for you to play them over again. I don't like doing the vs multiplayer stuff, but I got an Xbox One almost exclusively for the halo series and am working through all the achievements also for fun / challenge. If you don't think you'd enjoy it or have time, then probably not. My answer would be yes.
CrazyKingBen
Don't mean to highjack the thread but I'm just wondering how many of the competitive multiplayer achievements can be obtained with by boosting with just one friend?
