HippoZoned
I wanted to win a free Xone in the every2mins contest but last night the auctions opened and people have obtained over 80,000 points from buying mountain dew and doritos, how is this even possible i only have 1350 points and even if i buy 20 more bags of doritos i'd just be reaching 4,000 points, so i would need to grab another 100 more to even have any hopes of winning with 20k.... Anyone else in this contest n feeling pretty stupid for even trying? I thought at most 10k would be all you'd need to win. Rivercurse
Maybe other people simply buy more doritos than you?
HippoZoned
lol yea that may be the case but how are they consuming the amounts you would need to buy to win, what are they just throwing them out.. I'd need to spend like $200-$300 just to have a chance at winning i only spent maybe $25 EDIT: Actually I meed top buy 50 more bags of the huge bag to get 10k points, and 100 bags of the same to get 20k in points
Akuza
or they work in a store where they are taking the codes? its hard to say without proper knowledge of the situation.
HippoZoned
or they are going around trash picking and what not to try to get the bags, cause 100 bags of dortoes or 100 2 liter bottles of mountain dew is alot to consume for one or even 2 people in the 2 month period the promotion has been going on

HippoZoned
yea i think you may be right, plus I dont want to spend hundreds on products that can make me fat as a house just to win a system, and I dont have that kind of money to blow... If i save I'd just be able to buy the system myself
JB x360a
Maybe other people simply buy more doritos than you? I laughed so hard at that, very obvious comment. But back to the auction, looks like you will need more than 80k the ones that are running still have 12 hours left and are upto 73,000.

If i save I'd just be able to buy the system myself also from what your saying, your spending the price of the system or maybe more on these food things ... just to be in the running to get one for free like you said, if you save you'll be able to just buy the system, if you save what you'd spend on the doritos and dew, you'll be there in no time! EDIT: actually I just re read the rules the auctions are only for today and the 29th Edited November 5, 2013 by HippoZoned

cutterk73
yeah the auctions are pretty much a lost cause but you can still enter the sweepstakes..might be a long shot but i bet its a better chance than the damn auctions..
N7 Banshee Bait
A guy posted on another forum that all the people where he works drink Mountain Dew. So he has everybody giving him their codes. Other people will have all their friends & relatives giving them their unwanted codes. Basically it's one person using a thousand other people's codes. mhitt46
I had a feeling this would happen. I am having my friend keep a box that his coworkers just put their caps in when they have them. I am hoping to get a couple K. I have about 11.5K right now. I will just wait and see further down the road. I actually know one of my friends who is in college has a 1 gallon bucket that is halfway full of mountain dew caps, I am guesstimating that there are 300-400 caps. He wont give me any though. Anyone want to pool our points?? Edited November 5, 2013 by mhitt46

WalterWhite
If your Dorito's spending fees exceed the retail value of the console and you win, is it still considered a win?
BiggD
If your Dorito's spending fees exceed the retail value of the console and you win, is it still considered a win? Not at all. It's considered an incredible loss and you [the winner] should sell the console.
Pyrochaos
Kind of sad that you need so many points. They did a similar contest when they launched the 360 that wasn't an auction but a 1 code is an entry contest. People were selling codes on ebay, and I think people even came up with code generators. Maybe that is why they did the thing like it is now, i like how it is. I just think it doesnt give everyone a fair chance to win an auction I knew you'd have people that'd blow like $400 to get points I just didn't think there'd be so many people. I was willing to spend a few hundred maybe like $200 but not now, it'd be a waste of money at this point.
Darth VeX
Your best way of "winning" anything is the sweeps. But at least at some point they'll be adding "Swag" to the marketplace for purchase with points.
mhitt46
Holy Crap! Someone just bid 100,000 points for a Standard Console+ Forza 5. The only good thing is that after they use the 100,000 they cant get another 100,000 they can only get 50,000 before they hit their account limit. The big dogs will be out of the running early and there will be more for the smaller guys (at least in theory). Elysiun
I think the biggest issue here, at least looking over the rules, there doesn't seem to be any restriction against Pepsi's own employees enterings, which is honestly were a lot of these 100k+ auctions are coming from...
