Scrapdaddy
Achievement Guide & Roadmap Roadmap Overview: - Estimated achievement difficulty: 1/10 - Offine: 1000 - Online: 0 - Approximate amount of time to 1000:gsicon:: 3 - 6 hours - Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 (you can replay levels if needed) - Missable Achievements: 0 - Do cheat codes disable achievements: N/A - Does difficulty affect achievements: N/A - Glitched achievements: None but see note below. - Unobtainable achievements: None - Extra equipment needed: None Introduction: Welcome to my Megamind: The Video Game guide. The game is a linear action game and is the exact definition of quick movie tie-in games. It is pretty simple, short and generally geared toward a younger audience with a few minor challenges on the boss fights. The majority of the achievements will be unlocked during the course of normal play and anything else can be completed with the level select feature. The best news is there are no collectibles to worry about! Step 1 - Play through the main levels of the game. If you play in CO-OP, only the player controlling Megamind gets the achievements. Save yourself the hassle and just play solo the first time to unlock everything. There are 10 levels total and each one can easily be completed in less than 30 minutes if you just run through them. On level 1 you should attempt to complete it without dying. On levels 3, 6, 9 and 10 you need to beat the bosses without dying. None of these "do without dying" achievements are very difficult and can all be done via level select if you don't complete them the first time. I have tips for the bosses in the guide if you run into trouble. Everything else unlocks during normal play and should not prove too troublesome although this can be compounded by a pretty nasty glitch that I have listed below. Step 2 - Mop up anything you might have missed using the level select screen. It is the map that is found in your lair hideout. You don't have to play the mini-games at all. Conclusion: Overall the game is not too difficult. The average gamer should be able to complete the majority of the game within a single day of dedicated play. This makes it a perfect candidate for a weekend rental. Glitch: I ran into a pretty ugly glitch. It does not stop you from getting achievements but it does make the game progress a lot slower. Here is what happens, when you complete a level, any applicable achievements unlock but then the game just locks up. You cannot continue and you do not get the option to save your game and return to the hub. That means that you have to replay the entire level again! Worse is that you still may or may not get to continue after playing a second time. This has happened to me on levels 1, 2, 6, 8 and 9. I had to replay level 6 FIVE times before it finally saved and went to the next level. I don't know what causes it or how to fix it. I have tried installing the game to the hard drive, resetting the Xbox, shutting down the Xbox, switching Xboxes, letting the boss kill me once, not getting hit by the boss at all, etc... No one solution worked every time for me. I really feel that it is a random occurence whether you get the save screen or not. I was able to progress through the game but it does get a little frustrating to have to replay the levels an unknown number of times before you get lucky. Even with the glitch though, I was able to complete the game in 6 hours. That includes writing the guide. Glitch Update: On November 29, 2010 there was a title update and the glitch was patched. If you are playing offline and the level glitch occurs, log into Xbox Live and restart the game to accept the update. Thanks to everyone who has reported in. That's it everyone, thanks for reading. Simply complete level 10 which is the final boss battle and the achievement unlocks. See "Tightanic Battle" for tips on this boss fight. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UPprHZE=.jpgDestruction Derby - 50 Defeat Destruction Worker without dying as Megamind Destruction Worker is the boss of level 3. For the achievement to unlock you just need to defeat the boss without dying. Here is the method I used: [spoiler=JK1] First since you do not regain life while playing, the point of no return is when you are making your way through the remnants of the destroyed building. If you don’t have close to full health, let these guys kill you before moving on to the boss. This will restart you with full life right before the boss fight. If you die during the boss fight the achievement will NOT unlock. When you start the fight, just stand there and shoot the goons coming down the ramp. The boss will now spray the area with 5 shots so just avoid them by walking or jumping between 2 of them. He will now shoot at some crates that are above you. At this point run straight ahead and into the wall directly below the boss. All the crates will miss you and some dynamite will land near by. Finally, he will operate a wrecking ball and try to drop it on you. Let the wrecking ball lock onto you and then get out of the way before it drops. There is a slight shake to let you know when to move. Now the ball will reset, so quickly grab the dynamite and start walking to the blue circle on the ground in front of the boss. When you see the wrecking ball coming at you again, drop the dynamite and get out of the way. You will only be able to take a few steps each time. Once it resets, pick up the dynamite again and keep moving toward the boss. Repeat as needed. When you finally place the dynamite, run to the button behind you and press it to detonate the charge. Now more goons start coming down the ramp again so just repeat the entire process 2 more times and you will have him beat. Thanks to Method for refining my original boss strategy. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UPmq7Lc=.jpgPsychotic Win - 50 Defeat Psycho Delic without dying as Megamind Psycho Delic is the boss of level 6. For the achievement to unlock you just need to defeat the boss without dying. Here is the method I used: [spoiler=JK2] First the point of no return for this fight is when you use the switches to open the large clown mouth to proceed. Again, if you don’t have full health, go ahead and kill yourself so you have a better chance at fighting the boss without dying since you will gain a full life bar upon restarting the checkpoint. If you die during the boss fight the achievement will NOT unlock. For the boss fight, it is extremely simple. The boss will stay on the top level and you will be attacked by minions and steam on the bottom. There are five buttons on the bottom level that correspond to the steam vents on the top level. All you need to do is run around killing guys and avoiding steam and then press the button underneath the vent the boss is standing on. To make it even easier they even put a big blue arrow on the button you need to press. Repeat 4 more times and he is finished. This whole fight took maybe a minute or 2. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UPhKFCQ=.jpgFlash in the Pan - 50 Defeat Hot Flash without dying as Megamind Hot Flash is the boss of level 9. For the achievement to unlock you just need to defeat the boss without dying. Here is the method I used: [spoiler=JK3] Once again, the point of no return is where you are crossing a bridge and you can see trains moving in the background. Once off the bridge you will fight a small group of enemies. If you are low on health let these guys kill you so you can start the boss fight with full health. If you die during the boss fight the achievement will NOT unlock. For this boss you need to start by taking out all the goons. They come from the left and right so just stand in the back near the middle fire hydrant and shoot them from a distance. Hot Flash will then start shooting at you so just run back and forth to avoid her flames. You will get prompted to use the fire hydrant so run over to the one that is shooting water and rapidly press to increase the pressure and hit the boss. Repeat this process 2 more times and she’ll be knocked out. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UPwIB04=.jpgTightanic Battle - 75 Defeat Blue Tighten without dying as Megamind Blue Tighten is the final boss and you go right into this fight when you select level 10 "Blue Tighten Battle". For the achievement to unlock you just need to defeat the boss without dying. Here is the method I used: [spoiler=JK4] It is actually pretty easy. You will be in a robot suit and just need to move your cursor around and shoot any debris the boss throws at you. He will eventually grab a column and try to hit you with it. Just destroy the column out of his hands before he gets the chance. Repeat with 2 more columns and a portion of the roof will collapse and fall on his head causing damage. Now repeat the whole process 2 more times and he is finished and so is this game. Good job! Edited November 10, 2010 by Scrapdaddy
Scrapdaddy
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/+JBaTg==.jpgMega-Hero - 75 Complete the Game as Megamind Story Related and cannot be missed. This unlocks once you have finished the story mode of the game. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/-4pBzQ==.jpgAssistant Collector - 25 Collect 1000 B.I.N.K.E.Y. in any single level as Megamind See "Mega Collector". http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/-mq5Xg==.jpgCollector - 50 Collect 2000 B.I.N.K.E.Y. in any single level as Megamind See "Mega Collector". http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/+8hSpw==.jpgMega Collector - 75 Collect 3000 B.I.N.K.E.Y. in any single level as Megamind B.I.N.K.E.Y. are the blue glowing objects scattered around the levels and are used to upgrade your weapons. You also receive them from destroying objects and killing enemies. The achievement will unlock shortly after you collect the required amount during the game. You can get 1000 and 2000 unlocked in the very first level, “The Museum”. The 3000 can easily be collected in level 2, “Downtown”. I had over 9000 by the end of level 2. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/+iiqNA==.jpgLair Clean Up - 25 Collect 150 B.I.N.K.E.Y. in the Lair as Megamind The Lair is your home base or the hub that you visit between levels. At the very beginning of the game, just run around and collect all the B.I.N.K.E.Y. (blue glowing things) you see and this will unlock. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UP3o-90=.jpgMega-Skill - 50 Complete any story mission without dying as Megamind Simply complete any level of the game without dying or falling to your death. I suggest doing this in the first level since it is the simplest. There is a good chance you will get this to unlock without really trying for it but if you don't get it during the course of playing the game, you can always reload a level and try as many times as you need to. Eventually you will master a single level and get this knocked out. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UP-J9mg=.jpgMega-Ball - 25 Unlock the Mega-Ball mini-game as Megamind This unlocks automatically when you complete level 4, “The Underground”. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UP4pDvs=.jpgPod Race - 25 Unlock the Pod Race mini-game as Megamind This unlocks automatically when you complete level 2, “Downtown”. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UPzu4mY=.jpgSticky Boots - 25 Unlock the Sticky Boots mini-game as Megamind This unlocks automatically when you complete level 8, “The Overpass”. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UP0OGvU=.jpgRampage - 25 Unlock the Rampage mini-game as Megamind This unlocks automatically when you complete level 5, “The Sewers”. http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/1542/UP9QD6c=.jpgMega-Blast - 25 Unlock the Mega-Blast mini-game as Megamind This unlocks automatically when you complete level 7, “Uptown”. AlexandyrZho
I noticed the glitch while playing through as well. I found that it would sit there and not continue the game whenever I beat a boss without dying. Never failed, even after getting the achievement, resetting the xbox, etc etc., if I beat a boss without dying, it would hang like you describe. Going through the level again and purposely dying to the boss fixed it every time for me. It happened to all the bosses except the last one. The normal levels without a boss at the end worked fine for me, no glitch at all.
bLaKgRaVy
Nice guide. I'm getting this from Gamefly today so it will definitely help, although the achievements are pretty self explanatory. Sounds like an easy 1000. Thanks!
DubNut86
This keeps glitching on me after every level. I deleted my save and started again, but it's still happening. I don't fancy playing every level five times!

I don't fancy playing every level five times! Trust me dude, I know, it is terrible. I'm surprised this would even get shipped out. The funny part is that the PS3 version plays just fine. No glitch at all. Hopefully they release a patch but I doubt they will for this type of quick cash in game. Did you try what AlexandyrZho mentioned? Purposely let the boss kill you and see if that helps. I tried so many different things but nothing worked for me 100% of the time. It really just felt random. Nice guide. I'm getting this from Gamefly today so it will definitely help, although the achievements are pretty self explanatory. Sounds like an easy 1000. Thanks! Your welcome and it is pretty easy. Only downside is the end of level glitch. So far everyone I know that has played this has run into it. Hopefully you won't encounter it. It doesn't prevent the full 1000 but it does make it annoying. After not dying the first time on level 3, I let the boss kill me and it worked. On level 4, I've died like 4 times and it still locked up. Gonna play it again to see if it happens again... *grumble* EDIT: Finished the game. I had to play levels 3, 8 & 9 twice and level 4 four times. All the others I only had to do once. Very easy and quick game, if it wasn't for the level glitch. That probably added a 1.5 hours to my playtime. I could have finished it in 4 hours. Thanks for the guide. Scrapdaddy
glad you got it done and yeah it really is pretty short. I also played it on the PS3 and that version does not have the glitch so I was able to finish it in 3 hours 30 minutes. That glitch is the reason I added extra time to the roadmap. ccclxadct10
WOW this game is a cakewalk. I unlocked 12 achievements in an hours time. I beat the first boss on level 3 without dying and I guess i was one of the few lucky ones. Mine didn't glitch. Hopefully it follows suit on the other bosses. m00n22
Agree with above, cakewalk game. Completed it within 5 hours. Didn't need to replay any levels. Great guide. Many thanks!

Scrapdaddy
thanks everyone above. neeker - I know it sucks but stick it out. Once you finish a level the first time you can replay each one in about 15 minutes or less just running through them. It is annoying but you will get your 1000 eventually. JC
Hey, nice guide! I also found this on Stallion83's blog, which may be useful if you are getting the end of level glitch. ""2:22PM -- HOT Tip for megamind to cure the freeze glitch that happens at the end of levels. DubNut86 says "Hey mate, still having problems with Megamind? My friends playing off a USB drive and is on the 4th level with no problems at all. Just thought i'd let you know and hopefully save you playing 40 levels!" You could probably use a Memory card also. Just don't use your HDD to save to. Thanks Dub!""
neeker75
Doesn't work with the memory unit. I always save "kiddy" games on my memory unit, and Megamind was no exception. Glitched levels: 2, 3(twice), 5, 6, 7, 9 (twice). I'm glad it's over!
Method
Unfortunately, I had level 3 glitch on me seven times so I had a lot of time to refine my fighting technique versus Destruction Worker. Everything you said is correct but I found a slightly easier way. After he gets done firing the five shots at you and begins shooting at crates to drop on you, run directly at him. You should hit the wall underneath him and just keep your LS pushed forward so you're continuously running into the wall. The crates won't be able to fall on you and when the last crate falls and drops the explosives, they will fall almost exactly where you need to place them. This makes the part with the wrecking ball A LOT shorter. I'll let you know if I see anything else as I progress through the game (hopefully without glitches )

banej
Guys, I finished the game yesterday, and no glitch came up. I was reading about this freezing problem and apparently it can be avaoided if: - the game is installed in your HD; - the save file is in a memory card/flash card - you are not connected to the XBOX Live. I've played through out the game in 3 hours and the only stage I had to redo was the third one, because during my first attempt, I was killed by the boss. EDIT: During the stages, btw, I've died dozens of times while jumping onto those annoying boxes. DiegoCaldo made the following suggestions - The only one not mentioned by the rest is "not connected to the XBOX Live". Perhaps we can give this a try? Lord Forbes
Thanks for writing the guide. My kids and I will play tomorrow. I have had the same problem with other games when the Xbox is online and multiple achievements unlock at the end of a level while the game is trying to autosave. It is as if the machine cannot handle multiple actions outside of the game (showing multiple Achievement Unlocked windows, displaying the autosave, and starting to cache to next load screen. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. We will take all the precautions from the beginning and post if that works.

Lord Forbes
The glitch work around worked! The kids and I started this afternoon around 2:00 and finished around 6:30. NO GLITCHES OR HANG UPS! We only had to re-do the Psycho Delic boss fight because I did not pay attention. I think making sure the Xbox is not online and you install the game to the hard drive you should be ok. Good luck. I plan to start a new post and quote the original suggester to make it faster find.
